Riolu seemed concerned. He couldn't hit Blaziken like this. He was trapped, and further more, was wide open. But Sonjo knew a move that could turn the tides. "Riolu, Swagger! Make sure he doesn't hit!" Riolu clapped his hands together, and released a big cloud of pale-looking gas from it's mouth. This way, he couldn't get close without suffering the effects.

Michael grinned. Blaziken wasn't just an attacking Pokemon, and apparently, neither was Riolu. "Alright Blaziken, throw up a Smokescreen! Let's make sure that, even if he can move fast, he'll have trouble getting to hit you!"

Blaziken complied, opening its mouth. It appeared to begin firing a Flamethrower, but then closed its beak. The thing seemed to bulge, and then shrunk slightly. The beak opened, and a huge cloud of black smoke and steam exploded from the opening, practically completely covering everything but Blaziken's outline from the enemy trainer and the blue Aura Pokemon.

The defence was nearly set. "Add the finishing touches, Riolu, Substitute!" Riolu set a little doll replica of itself, stumbling a little from creating the doll from his own health. He then lept back, to remain hidden. He'll have trouble getting through to him now... He awaited the next move.

Michael scowled. If it weren't for that substitute, Blaziken would probably have won the round. "Alright, it doesn't matter... Just stick with the plan. Get some air, Blaziken!"

The fire bird crouched low, then, as it jumped, it flared out its arms, the feathered things giving it more altitude. At the peak of its jump, it then lowered one leg into a knee, and began coming down hard. "Earthquake!"

The earth indented where the fire-type struck, causing a powerful shockwave across the ground, dirt and rock flying upward and intesifying as it closed in upon the substitute.

The substitute dispersed, but the match was seeded. "Finish it, Riolu! Copycat!" Leaping out of some nearby bushes, after his opponent's earthquake was finished, Riolu slammed his palm into the ground to create his own. It looked like it would be an effective one, as well. Sonjo smirked.

Michael's eyes widened, and he knew Blaziken was down before the attack even struck.

Being fire type, Blaziken was weak to Earthquake... And a counter-version? Blaziken was already down. As the shockwave hit the bird, it fell to the ground, pain coursing through him. "Alright, nice try Blaziken, return." The Pokeball glowed red as the creature returned to it, and the Pokeball was placed back on his belt.

"Alright then, let's show you my next, huh?" Michael removed another ball from his belt, the one he had reminisced over during the walk through Viridian Forest. "Go, Charizard!"

He through the Pokeball, and a light exploded from it, followed by a loud, deafening roar. For most Pokemon, it would be intimidating.

However, something else would intimidate most beyond all else.

The wings of the Charizard were ripped and shredded beyond belief, and a scar traveled across his snout in a zig-zag fashion.

"Let's start this fight right- Go down!"

The dragon-looking Pokemon slammed his clawed feet down, his blade-like claws digging him into the ground, his upper claws pulling the earth in with him.

He was completely hidden underground.

Carrie sat up straight, staring in shock at where the Charizard had stood.

Jolteon's ears perked in interest, and it seemed he was finally taking real interest in the fight before him.

"See, Jolteon? I told ya this wasn't over yet."

Jolteon snorted.

The dig was intimadating, but there was a silver lining. "Riolu, endure! Take the hit!" Riolu let down his guard, setting his hands to his sides. He shown a blue light momentarily. This would be a perfect set up, all they had to do was wait and then make his move.

Michael scowled. "Alright, finish the move Charizard... Get ready for a counter move."

The dragon exploded from the earth, claws slashing upward and across, eyes blood-red with anger. The huge wings flapped uslessly, but then he landed, a small sent through the ground, nothing like an Earthquake, but intimidating enough.

That was what Michael was planning on- Intimidation. If he needed to, he would make Charizard start really attacking, but he didn't want to just yet.

Micheal had played straight into Sonjo's hand. Though Riolu took the deadly attack, which would have normally finished him off, but endure guarenteed it's survival; for at least one more shot. Riolu landed, wobbling and right eye closed. "Now, Riolu! Reversal! Hit it with every bit of pain you've had to take and release it on Charizard!"

The blue creature started slowly, then went off into a dash that just kept on getting faster. He used the momentuem, and strook the fire dragon's stomach rapidly, with open palms. Direct hit.

Charizard slid back, claws stabbing into the ground as he fell forward, growling and panting hard. "Charizard? You okay?"

The fire-type edged up, turning his head and nodding to Michael. It then turned back to Riolu, eyes closed. His face turned peaceful for a moment... Then, his eyes seemed to explode in fire. He stood, the flame on his tail growing enormously.

"...Damnit... Charizard, calm down. This isn't a life-or-death battle, here." The thing closed its eyes again, the tail-flame lowering slowly, before they opened again. "Alright, let's see if we can't get it to stay still for a minute, huh? Fire Spin!"

The flames exploded from the Charizard's snout, surrounding Riolu quickly, edging in.

It was no good. From the moment that the Fire Spin made contact, Riolu had fainted from fatigue. Sonjo recalled the creature to his pokeball, thanking him dearly for a job well done. Then, he tossed another pokeball onto the field, which released Zangoose. She looked pumped, and ready for battle. Another stradegy was already forming.

"Alright, Zangoose. Give it a Water Pulse." The furry white pokemon's mouth grew, as she punched herself soflty on the stomach. That released a vortex of swirling water, through the firespin.

"Charizard!" Michael yelled as the creature moved to the left. The Water Pulse hit, causing it to recoil. It gripped its head, the pure pulse of water sending waterfalls of confusion through its mind. "Keep your head, damnit!"

The thing nodded, wincing as it stood. "Flamethrower!"

The Pokemon pulled back, then sent out waves of flame at the Zangoose.

Michael, however, was worrying. "If Charizard goes down, I have one Pokemon which may help... But I don't know if he will be able to fight two battles... Maybe... Yeah, he should be able to. He has enough intelligence through the madness and strength..."

By this time Carrie had become moderately bored, flopping upon the grass on her side. She propped her head up as she watched the match continue.

She checked her watch. 5:23 P.M. It was just starting to get darker, as the sun was beginning to set.

"I wonder who's going to win," She mumbled aloud to herself. Jolteon had already fallen asleep, and she was tempted to nudge him awake with an admonishing "That's rude!"

But she let him alone.

The flames had hit their pre-determined target. But, Zangoose got back up, ready for more. "Thunderbolt, Zangoose." Zangoose smiled softly as she began to charge her electricity. The shocks bagan to grow bigger and more powerfull, untill they were released on the flying fire lizard. The good thing about Zangoose was that she was incredibly versitile.

Charizard fell onto its knees, panting hard. Michael pulled its Pokeball from his belt, but Charizard held up its clawed hand. It stood as tall as it could, wincing, then breathed in VERY deeply.

Michael knew what it was going to do.

Charizard was known for one very terrifying move, usually used to scare off Pokemon in the wild.

Then, the thing roared. The Roar was almost deafening to its own trainer, who then covered his ears. It was as if all the hatred, all the pain, all the fear, all the tragedy in the creature's soul expelled from its throat in a petrifying, horrendous sound.

Carrie yelped in surprise and clasped both hands over her ears, toppling to the ground when she stopped supporting herself.

Jolteon jerked awake and looked around blearily, an alert sharpness taking over his face. He spotted the Charizard and then snorted, closing his eyes and laying his head down to go back to sleep.

The roar was intense. So intense, that Zangoose was whisked away, and Sonjo was forced to switch pokemon. Though, Sonjo was a bit confused. Roar would just give him another chance to harm it further. He shrugged and sent out Altaria. It'd their advantage, and she was fresh for a battle.

"Finish it, Altairia! Use your Sky Attack!" Then, Altairia's eyes grew to the size of silver dollars. She swurved high into the air, and started to radiate a red light. Then, it swooped down on it's target, a powerfull beak-ram into it's chest.

Charizard fell back, panting harder than ever, gripping the ground to support itself. It nodded to Michael, giving the sign to allow it to return.

The Pokeball lit up and dimmed as the return took place, and Michael removed his last Pokemon from the belt. Grinning, he threw it out. The light shone brightly as a huge snake-like Gyarados appeared, its own sense of intimidation taking effect.

"Alright Gyarados, let's show them a trick or two, hm? Use Thunderbolt!"

The water-dragon breathed in deeply, and then opened wide, an arc of yellow electricity flying powerfully at Altaria, bolts striking the ground with the close contact.

Sonjo looked on the battle stage. Altaria had taken the hit, quickly recovering afterwards. Normally, she would be more affected by electrical attacks, but Altaria's dragon attributes nullified that. The plan was set; they were going to win indefinately.

"Altaria, use Dragon Pulse!" The clouded bird spurted a single large blue flame from it's mouth, splitting up into many smaller ones when they hit the Gyrados target.

Gyarados recoiled, but the blue eyes shifted to a deadly blood-red as it roared and returned to its place on the battle-field. While hurt, this was only the first attack the thing had taken, and it was about to dish out a lot more.

"Alright Gyarados, he wants to play Dragon? We can play Dragon. The best thing about Gyarados is this, Sonjo- While appearing to be, and able to use, Dragon type abilities... It is a Flying and Water type. Meanwhile, Altaria is a Dragon and Flying type... Dragon moves do extra damage against Dragon-TYPE."

Gyarados reared back, mouth closed, light blazing within. "So, in a way, you just managed to hurt yourself severely.

"Okay Gyarados, how about your own Dragon Pulse!"

The blue, floating dragon-looking creature opened its mouth, bursts of light exploding from it. They exploded from the main beam, and struck at Altaria dangerously.

Altaria flew backword, taking the hit hard. But, it was far from over. The cloudy dragon got back in the battle, preparing for its next move. Sonjo met his pokemon's determination, and decided on the next move. The move after that one would be the ringer. "Now, use Ice Beam!" Altaria then released a blue, zig-zagging beam. It hit its mark, dealing its normal damage due to the levitating Hydra's flying attributes.

Gyarados flew back on its own, icicles forming on the tip of its mouth.

However, Michael grinned evilly, his eyes darkening. "Time to lose. Altaria, being a Dragon-Flying type, has one severe weakness. It's an unexpected weakness, to be sure, seeing as how it can use Ice attacks, but well, what are you gonna do? Gyarados, Ice Beam!"

The Gyarados did as ordered, breathing it, then firing the light-blue beam directly at Altaria, eyes filled with intimidating rage.

Altaria took the hit with agony, as she was sent flying backward, and hitting the ground hard. Sonjo grit his teeth, as he reached for her Pokeball, but Altaria seemed like it could deal the finishing touches. This would doom Micheal and his Gyarados. But, he felt sore for having to make the cloud bird use it.

"Okay. Perish Song, Altaria." The bird whistled a grim tune, a song that could fill any soul that heard it with dread, including the composer. But this insurred Sonjo's victory. With Zangoose still on the wings, and knowing that she could deliver electrical attacks, the Perish Song was more of a back-up strategy.

((Just to make something clear. Back when Charizard roared, I took it as a 'Roar' attack. This forced me to switch Pokemon, thus still having Zangoose as one of my three . Roar is an exeption the the rule 'no recalls' as far as I'm concerned.))

Carrie clapped her hands over her ears again, hating the sound of Perish Song herself. She understood how Sonjo probably felt; everytime Mischief used it, it felt like a knife had cut through her heart.

Jolteon, though distraught by the song, held a smug look about him. He was certain he was going to win, despite the last move made.

Gyarados whined, trying to recoil, but Michael yelled to him. "Alright Gyarados, we only have a short time to do this- Pull another Ice Beam, then get ready! Zangoose is Normal, he has no weakness, but you have a strong enough move that might help us here! Ice Beam!"

Gyarados nodded, pulling back, then firing another light-blue beam at Altaria. No doubt that the cloud Pokemon would go down, and then up would come Zangoose. As rare as the situation was, Michael had a plan for this... It just depended on how much energy the Normal-type had left.

Altaria went down the instant the ice beam struck it. Sonjo's gaze turned away as he recalled the Bird-Dragon. "I'm sorry, Altaria. Please, forgive me..." He had only one pokemon left. Sonjo exchanged Altaria's Pokeball with Zangoose's. It looked as if Micheal's Gyarados didn't have that much stamina left, and knowing Zangoose... It shouldn't be a problem for her. As a plus, Micheal only could make two more moves before Perish Song took effect.

"Alright, Zangoose! Time to make your stand!" The ball was tossed onto the feild once more, to release the fury Zangoose; she was pumped and ready for more. "Shock it! Use Thunderbolt!" She charged herself, having bolts of electricity seeping out of her. Then, she held her arm outward at Gyarados, and zapped it. Knowing that Gyarados was both a water and flying type, it should have done a considerable amount of damage.

Gyarados fell back, electricity coursing over him as he barely missed hitting Michael. The trainer's teeth clenched- There wasn't much left. Another move like that, and Gyarados was out. Plus, even if Gyarados stopped Zangoose using Thunderbolt with Torment, Perish Song would still get rid of him.

But, being a Gyarados, Michael had one more move left that the snake-like Pokemon was known for, and the water-type seemed to know just what to do.

Gyarados' mouth widened beyond what it had before, as a ball of energy began forming inside. Michael pointed at the Zangoose, and yelled "Hyper Beam!"

The Gyarados' fury was released in the beam as it fired at the Normal type. While being a Normal type was an advantage in that it had no weakness, it also was not resistant to anything either. The Hyper Beam would have its full effect.

Zangoose was sent hurdling backward, having taken the beam's raw power to her chest. At first, Zangoose looked like it it was finished, but she picked herself up little by little, knowing that if she did, the battle would be theirs. And it was. Sonjo smirked to hismelf. "Sorry, Mike. But the battle is ours. Finish it off, with another Thunderbolt."

Once the furry normal-type stood on two legs, she sent another devastating wave of electricity heading for the hovering dragon. It was finished.

The Gyarados tried to avoid the wave of electric energy, but its body was struck, sending it hurtling to the ground. Michael sighed, removing the dragon's Pokeball from his belt.

The thing tried to get up again, and then started flying at the Zangoose, hatred in its eyes, before it got returned to the ball. Michael sighed again, putting it on his belt. "Sorry about that- He gets aggressive when he loses. Good match." the trainer said, both to Sonjo, and his own Pokemon.

Zangoose struck a victory pose through her pain, nearly stumbling over when she did. Sonjo smiled to himself, and recalled Zangoose to her own pokeball. "Yeah, It was the best match I had in a long time." He said, while re-hooking the pokeball onto his belt. He looked over to Carrie, who was sitting with Jolteon. The spiked-pokemon seemed rather angry about something.

Carrie was laughing out loud.

"Sorry, Jolteon," She said, trying to be sympathetic. The effect was ruined by the entertained grin cracking her face in half. "Looks like no beef jerky for you for a month."

Jolteon humphed furiously, growling as spike grew sharply along his back. He stood with an air of superior, if damaged, dignity and stalked back towards the Pokemon Center, intent upon discovering other things with which to amuse himself.

Carrie smiled after him.

"He's fine," She told the boys in-case they grew concerned. "He's just sore that he won't have his beloved jerky. He'll be fine once he has a chance to take that soreness out on something. Maybe I'll have him spar with Espeon. They'd go at it full throttle, and it should calm him down."

Sonjo laughed heartily as he grew closer. "So you guys made a gamble on our battle, eh? I'm kind of sypathetic to Jolteon, but I didn't know untill it was too late!" He looked back on the creature. "Now, don't you hold a grudge." He said, waving his finger playfully.

"Seriously," Michael chimed in, "Don't Thunderbolt me or anything..."

His serious demeanor was gone yet again, replaced by his humorous and light-hearted one. "So, what now? My Pokemon needs some rest, but other than that, what's the plan?"

Sonjo looked down on his Poketch. (Or in other words: 'Pokewatch'.) It was 6:35. "Well, I guess there's time for another battle. We should go heal our Pokemon, but I'm not going to do another round." He relaxed his arms on the back of his head, showing his care-free attitude.

Carrie shrugged, sauntering after Jolteon. The Pokemon ignored every word thrown his way as he walked through the automatic doors, slumping down upon the nearest available seat with a haughty disposition.

"I'm game," She said, tugging at a lock of her hair. "Though it wouldn't be a wise choice to use Jolteon in battle right now. He's a wee bit peeved at me."

Jolteon bristled, not at her, but at himself for losing the bet. He snorted.

Michael smiled, his hand on his hip. "I'm ready for another battle... I dunno about Gyarados, Charizard and Blaziken though... Let me get them healed up, and we can go."

With that, he followed behind Jolteon to the Pokemon Center, handing the belt of Pokeballs to Nurse Joy.

With that, Sonjo notioned to Carrie. "We'll be right back, then." he hummed. The glass door slid open, hitting his face with cool air. He took his three Pokemon that had just faught with and dropped them on the dock for Nurse Joy to heal. He sat down on a nearby chair, and fidled with his wrist bandages.

Carrie fiddled with the Pokeballs at her belt, wondering. Since Michael was a rather tough trainer, who had plenty of dragon types, she was considering switching out Lapras for a more versatile Water Type.

It was a hard choice. Lapras had been with her through thick and thin, and the idea of switching him out just so she had more chance of winning sickened her terribly. However, as a Trainer it was her ultimate goal to win, and to be a Master. This required the winning of as many battles as possible.

She chewed on her knuckles, irritated at herself. Her Corsola could easily have taken Lapras' place, but the idea...

She frowned, deciding to stick with Lapras. Even if she lost, at least she would have the satisfaction of keeping him with her despite the disadvantage it posed to her.

"I guess I'll just have to wait, then."
