Two Pairs

It didn't take long, only really having to heal three Pokemon, before Michael stepped out again, a semi-confident smirk on his face. "Alright then, Carrie, same rules as before, or all-out six-on-six battle? You choose."

While he had a LOOK of confidence, his voice teetered- After the loss, he had a slight feeling of unease at another battle, but he helped himself by telling himself it was practice for the upcoming Pokemon Leagues.

"Three on three is perfectly fine with me."

She took her place opposite Michael, a neutral expression dominating her face. Jolteon, though sullen had followed her loyally, sitting at her feet and watching the battle.

"Same rules as your fight with Sonjo. No switchouts, no items. Game?"

When Sonjo got out, Riolu and Combusken were both out of their respective pokeballs. Combusken scratched at his bandages, and Riolu sitting upon his master's shoulder, crossing his arms. ( He's a sore-loser.  :p) They sat down where Carrie and Jolteon were previously. He busted his fan out, holding it close to his face.

"Hey, guys. Who'd you think is going to win. My vote's on Carrie." Combusken notioned to Carrie, while Riolu pointed to Micheal. "Care to make... wagers?" Sonjo gained a devilish smile.

"Game." Michael said, his demeanor shifting yet again.

He reached behind him to a Pokeball directly on the back of his belt, removing it and making it larger. "He hasn't had a fight in a while... Don't want to disappoint him TOO much."

With that, he pulled back, and threw the ball into the field.

A light materialized, forming into a dragon-shape with large wings, yellow-ish skin, and curled antennae.

The Dragonite scratched behind its right antenna boredly, eyes slightly closed.

Carrie analyzed the situation. Dragonite, being Dragon/Flying, was immune to everything but Rock, Ice and Dragon. This left her in a bit of a connundrum. Lapras would be the obvious choice, but she wanted to save him in the wings unless she had no other choice. Using Mischief would be foolish; the same went for Espeon. Charles would be useful later, so she saved him with the idea of keeping him for later.

She went down the list, considering, but a sudden movement at her feet made her start.

Jolteon stood with a languid air, movement fluid and effortless. He didn't grace her with a glance; he knew as well as she what he meant to do.

"Well, you are rearing for a fight. Fine."

Jolteon glanced at her then; a silent message passing to her.

She nodded.

"Thunder Wave!"

Jolteon moved precipitately, movement so agile that he seemed to dissapear and reappear a few feet before Dragonite, fur spiking and bristling with electricity. A large, brimming forcefield of charge burst towards the opponent.

"Now, Jolteon, move away! Agility!"

Jolteon leapt back, glowing a brief blue. If he had been fast before it was as nothing compared to now; there seemed to be multiple of him, the speed almost leaving an imprinted image from where he had been a moment before.

Carrie smirked. There was a good reason Jolteon was her strongest.

Sonjo turned to his pokemon. "If Micheal wins, Riolu, both Combusken and I will be forced to be tied to a tree and watch you eat dinner, while we get nothing. But if Carrie wins, the reverse will occur. Agree, guys?" Riolu and Combusken put their hands in agreement without hesitation. "Alright then, it's on." he watched the battle with a sly expression.

Michael nodded- A good, logical move.

Thunder wave hit Dragonite, and seemed to have no physical effect, but Michael knew better- Paralysis could occur if Dragonite was unlucky. This meant that whatever moves the pair used could be halted later on.

"Alright Dragonite, let's get this started- Use Surf!"

The dragon became much more active- Its eyes turned a deep blue as it began humming. A roar emerged from behind it as a wave of water approached, smashing down on the pair of Pokemon. The paralysis didn't take effect this time, but Michael knew that it was pure luck- It could very well happen next.

Jolteon kept his cool, despite the strong rush of water currently crashing towards him.

"Jolteon?"

He glanced at her.

"Do it."

He obeyed.

The water was almost upon him, rushing in at an incredible pace. He stood firm, and let it smash into him full force.

However...

A bright flash of light lit the area. Carrie had already shielded her eyes, and she uncovered them as the water moved away.

Jolteon stood in front of Dragonite, having moved the moment the water's pressure had begun to lessen.

"Zap Cannon!"

A thunderous burst of light formed at his open muzzle, the very particles in the air being sucked out from around him. They colasced into a large glowing ball before him, and at point blank range he fired it off.

Carrie grinned. Zap Cannon was easily the strongest Electric attack Jolteon knew. It had poor accuracy, and the only time one could guarantee a hit was to fire it off in their opponent's face.

Jolteon leapt back, waiting for the return fire.

The battle was tensing up. Now that Dragonite was healed of all status abnormalties, Carrie could no longer count on paralyses to stun him. He looked over to his Pokemon, who were cheering for their respective bets. "Hmm... This seems to be heating up a bit. I just hope Carrie knows how powerfull a dragon can be..."

Carrie cracked her knuckles with a roguish grin, excitement welling within her.

"This is more like it," She muttered.

Jolteon copied her expression, feeling very excited himself. It had been a very long, long time since he had engaged in a challenging battle.

"Let's get this rolling off to a good start. Jolteon, Flash now!"

Carrie covered her eyes as another bright burst of light filled the area.

"Use Agility to get on him!"

Jolteon's speed once again doubled, vanishing instantly and reappearing again atop the Dragonite's head. He was balanced precariously.

"Thunder Wave, once more!"

The dog once again paralyzed his opponent, sensing what his Trainer had in mind.

"Now...Thunder!"

A second of focus allowed Jolteon to charge with negative energy; a cloud swirled overhead, and with a noisy crash a bolt of thunder smashed down upon the two; Jolteon allowed himself to take the blow of the Thunder as well, his natural Volt Absorb ability healing the damage from Dragonite's Surf completely.

On command Jolteon leapt from his opponent, circling around to stand facing his back.

Dragonite recoiled from the Thunder bolt, one eye closed. The other eye flashed multiple colours as it stood tall, growling menacingly.

"Alright Dragonite, time to give 'em a nice show of power- Call up a Blizzard!"

Dragonite reared its head back, but a shock of electricity pushed through it, causing it to halt the attack. It winced, grabbing its stomach.

"Damnit... Alright, try a less powerful attack- Slam!"

Dragonite tried again, running at the electric-type. With its huge tail, the dragon swung around, the tail flying up, then brought it down, smashing into the ground hard.

The boys watched the sparks fly and blizzards brew. Sonjo smirked, and looked over at Riolu. "Likes like you're not doing so well." he said, making a gesture with his fan. Riolu glared at his, as if to say 'It's not even half-over yet. Just watch and see for yourself.' Combusken snickered himself.

Jolteon lithely dodged, his abnormal speed allowing him to move before the Dragonite had come within range.

Carrie ordered Jolteon to repeat the trick; Flash, Agility and Thunder atop the Dragonite's head.

"You're forcing me to repeat maneuvers. I hate doing that. It shows no originality, but your Heal Bell possibly by-passing the paralysis is far too great a risk for me to leave you time to manage it."

Jolteon leapt back again.

"Do you want to know why I don't use him often? I'm sure you've figured it out by now. His speed. Unnatural, isn't it? I feel it's an unfair advantage for us."

Carrie smiled, a bit sadly. "I can't use him often because of it. He simply wanted to fight this time."

Jolteon glanced at her, telling her flatly that he had wanted to participate for once instead of watching from the sidelines.

This brought a smirk to Michael's face- Speed. Jolteon had an amazing amount of speed, allowing him to dodge an amazing amount of attacks, and the paralysis was halting Dragonite's stronger moves...

...But he had one move that always hit, and wasn't too strong, but if Michael was right, due to Jolteon's speed, its endurance would even out to below average.

"Dragonite, use Swift!"

The dragon nodded, enduring the electrical attacks well enough, and firing glowing stars from its mouth. The stars swivelled and aimed directly at the electric dog. There was no way the homing attack could miss.

Jolteon took the hit, not effected all that much.

Carrie shook her head.

"You don't get it, do you? He's my strongest. He evolved from an Eevee, who are known to have a rather good amount of defense despite being Normal-type. And Jolteon is way above average in everything but Attack, which he doesn't use anyways."

Carrie told Jolteon to repeat the maneuver one last time--with a single difference.

Instead of appearing on Dragonite's head he once again stood before him, crackling with a good deal of his remaining electricity.

"Jolteon. Use Zap Cannon."

Jolteon did, the ball of energy forming again. Carrie could tell it was a bit of a strain, even from here...And the low accuracy would guarantee they couldn't use it again in this fight. If this didn't knock the Dragonite out they would have to rely on less powerful Electric moves, which didn't bode well for either of them.

"You're rather tough. Did you know that?"

"Endure it, Dragonite!"

The dragon type prepared itself, taking the hit head on. Out of the smoke that had cleared from the skin of the dragon causing a mini-explosion, Michael yelled again. "Icy Wind!"

A freezing wind emenated from the dragon's mouth, surrounding Jolteon easily enough. The pure coldness of the power would be enough to slow Jolteon down, at least slightly.

"I realize that- That's mainly my tactic. Status effects, endure attacks, and respond with enormous damage. Dragonite is good for all three, plus, it's rather intelligent. It's too bad you let Jolteon use that Zap Cannon- I had a nice plan for if you'd tried another Thunder Bolt. Oh, right, Dragonite, follow up Icy Wind with a Light Screen."

Dragonite closed its eyes, then opened them, pure white inside of them. A wall of light appeared around the dragon. "Thanks for telling me about the fact that Special Attacks were Jolteon's key method." Michael finished, smiling.

Carrie smiled back, sinister in expression.

"You're welcome."

Jolteon grinned at her.

"It's a good thing you're still paralyzed, or I wouldn't be able to do this!"

"Jolteon, use Quick Attack!"

Jolteon sped forward with a burst of speed, crashing into Dragonite with force. Carrie knew that it didn't affect the Pokemon, but with that attack it meant...

Only four moves left.

"Jolteon, use Sand Attack! Blind him!"

Jolteon dug his paws deep into the earth and shovel-threw the clumps of dirt into Dragonite's eyes, substantially lowering his accuracy.

Three moves left. And with that Endure move, despite allowing him to keep from fainting regardless of the power of Zap Cannon, Carrie knew the battle would soon come to an end.

"Heal Bell!" Michael yelled to Dragonite, causing the Dragon-type to straighten up and perform the move again. Bells chimed from its voice, and its eyes cleared over.

This time, however, Michael was getting annoyed. Jolteon had speed, Carrie had intelligence, and Dragonite... Well, really, Dragonite was becoming weaker, no doubt about it.

Time to hurt Jolteon some.

Just as the healing bells finished, Micheal yelled out. "How about we put our foot down here, Dragonite? Earthquake!"

The Dragonite lifted its right foot high, then smashed it down into the earth. While Blaziken's attack was strong, Dragonite had more weight, and could perform his move in less time than the fire-type.

Plus, being against the electric type dog, the only way it would be able to avoid the attack would be to jump, and the moment he did, Michael intended to get Dragonite's wings to work.

Carrie knew what he had planned.

She had planned for it, too.

"Jolteon, jump."

He looked at her as if she were mad. They both knew what Michael was planning.

"Trust me."

He jumped. His speed allowed him to leap high into the air, straight for Dragonite.

"Use it when the moment's right!"

Jolteon looked down at her from above, sudden understanding flashing across his face.

They both waited, knowing Dragonite was going to pull something.

Michael grinned, yelling out to the dragon-type again. "Blizzard!" The Pokemon flapped its wings hard, sending a huge, icy force at the jumping Pokemon. Due to the fact that it was in mid-air, it would find it hard dodging.

The next move following up the Blizzard would bring Jolteon to the ground, as Michael called to Dragonite, "Rock Tomb!"

With a roar, Dragonite struck the ground again, sending up large stones. Aimed at Jolteon, they would probably surround it and bring it down to the earth, also slowing it down.

Carrie grinned.

"Silly person. Jolteon's not really in the air."

The Blizzard attack hit 'Jolteon' at the same time as Rock Tomb; with a poof of smoke the Pokemon vanished, having never been there.

"Jolteon, while Dragonite is distracted! Use Light Screen yourself, and hit him with a Thunder Wave!"

Jolteon had been behind Dragonite the whole time, his Substitute correctly focusing on the fake instead. With a glow of blue the same shield around Dragonite surrounded him, and paralysis once again took hold of Dragonite.

One move left. Then...

"Jolteon, once more, use Flash!"

A bright light filled the area.

"Finish him off...Thunder him while he's in the air!"

The attack hurtled towards the Dragon, well intent on it's target.

Sonjo examined Micheal's Dragonite with interest. "Hmm... It seems that Dragonite is pretty durable. Carrie's landed quite a few attacks, and though fatigued, it's still standing. But, I don't think Jolteon's ready give up. He was never the one to back down so easily." Combusken nodded in agreement. They both smiled while Riolu grunted as Dragonite was hit by the volts of electricity.

Michael scowled... But Dragonite was not going down that easily. Being the strong, durable type, it had learned all the defensive moves possible, and this was no different. "Dragonite, Protect yourself!"

The dragon nodded, turning toward the Thunder and folding its wings over itself. The thick layer of the wings covered it from the damage it no doubt would have fainted from, as it came down again.

It hit the ground, growling at Jolteon again. "You don't have much energy left, just use one more move and you'll be good. Agility!"

The dragon disappeared from sight momentarily... Before appearing right beside the Jolteon, tail already raised to perform another Slam attack. However, the paralysis took effect, causing the tail to fall uselessly next to the dog.

"...Uh... Well... That sucked..." Michael muttered, eyebrow raising. Using whatever strength it had left, Dragonite's fist lit up, and it swung around. The Dynamic Punch was a VERY low accuracy attack, to be sure, but if it hit, it would weaken the dog enough for Michael's next Pokemon to have an easy time.

...Of course, if the paralysis didn't take effect, which it did. Dragonite hissed through the shock, and simply stood still, panting. Attempting to use Slam and Dynamic Punch, as well as moving its weight with the Agility, had tired it out. It then picked up some mud, and threw it at the Jolteon, at least trying to distract it, maybe lower its ability to hit more.

Carrie smirked as Jolteon ducked under the mud-sling, running at his best towards Dragonite.

"Jolteon, combine Shock Wave with Tackle!"

The dog was charged with electricity as he ran lower to the ground, wind cutting past like sonicboom at the speed. He launched towards Dragonite, his best defense move already at the ready in case Dragonite managed to throw an attack in his face.

This was over. Carrie knew it.

Dragonite was down in moments- Having weakened and fatigued itself from its over-attacking personality, the electrically-powered Pokemon probably only needed a simple Tackle to take it down. The dragon was returned to its Pokeball, only to have Michael quickly retrieve another. "Dragonite wasn't trained by me- It was my father's. THIS, however, was. Go, Dragonair!"

The blue dragon-type, the de-evolved version of Dragonite, seemed to flow from its Pokeball, calling out in a magical tone of voice. It turned to Michael, who nodded, and turned back to the Jolteon. "Let's start this right- Use Agility, then Ice Beam!"

The Dragonair swooped upward, spinning, then disappearing from sight.

From behind the electric type, a pure ice-blue beam fired at it.

The Ice Beam hit, but it barely did any damage, Jolteon being protected by Light Screen.

"Is that how you want to play? Good. Let's roll."

"Jolteon, use Thunder Wave!"

He used the attack, though they both knew it would last no more than a few moments. It would at least slow Dragonair down enough in order to...

"Sand-Attack!"

Jolteon hurriedly kicked sand into Dragonair's face, knowing he had little time.

"Bite!"

Jolteon showed his teeth and launched at Dragonair.

Carrie knew that Dragonair was resistant to Electricity, so she would have to be extra-careful with this fight. She also knew, however, that most Dragonairs' Defense was their weakest stat, and that Physical moves would undoubtedly do more damage than Electric.

Sonjo raised a brow. She'd used Thunder Wave, which usually would have been a great, effective technique. But Dragonair's ability will eventually prove that wrong. "Doesn't she know?" he asked to himself.

As soon as the Thunder Wave hit, Dragonair's skin shed, then dissolved. It was hit easily enough by the Sand-Attack, and the bite did hurt, but the Dragonair simply moved back again.

"Dragonair, let's go for a little more physical attack, shall we? Wrap!"

The snake-like creature flew right at Jolteon, wrapping its body around the electric type, squeezing hard. Being resistant to electricity, and the fact that the skin of a Dragonair, when shed, could rid it of status effects, Michael had the advantage in this fight.

Carrie grinned.

"Dragonair may be resistant by some, but it's not totally immune to Electricity."

She had purposely avoided using Thunder for a while so that she could do this one move. If he had kept using Thunder as before, he wouldn't have charged up enough electricity to use it again, and she had needed Dragonair to get close to Jolteon for it.

"Use Zap Cannon!"

The ball of energy shot off, smashing Dragonair straight in the face.

Dragonair's head fell back, but due to it being wrapped around the dog, it simply came back... This time firing a glob of a purple substance on its body. It then released from the dog, flipping around aggressively, and bringing its tail, covered in blue orbs, down upon Jolteon.

"Dragonair! Back!"

After bringing her tail down in a slam, Dragonair retreated back to Michael. "Just... Don't keep trying to go on the assault. Listen to me more, 'k?"

((OC: What was that purple glob? I'm assuming it's Toxic.))

Jolteon leapt out of the danger zone, shaking slightly. At the moment it was low on electricity.

"Hold it together, buddy," Carrie consoled him. "Fight back with Quick Attack!"

Jolteon rushed in and delivered a swift blow, leaping back again.

Carrie was considering how she was going to get in the last move (Dragonair had the advantage; it would most likely win), and just how effective it would be.

((Gah... I typed that twice, and the second time I forgot to put the name... Yeah, it was Toxic.))

Dragonair turned to the Jolteon, a wave of Attraction exuding from its features as its eyelids lowered slightly and seductively.

It turned to the electric-type, a sense of peace edging toward it. "Attract is a pretty cool move, in my humble opinion. A Pokemon can cause another of the opposite gender to become infatuated with them, usually meaning that they do not want to attack." Michael said, his smirk returning to his face. "I doubt that Jolteon would really want to attack someone he has fallen in love with, hm?"

Sonjo sat with exellent posture. "Wow, I can't believe Jolteon's still in there. Usually, you'd think that a he would be exausted by now.. But he's still not giving up. I have to say, this is impressive even for him." Riolu couldn't help but hide his nervous attitude. He wanted Micheal to win; he didn't want to be tied to a tree!

Carrie raised an eyebrow.

"There's a problem with using that technique on Jolteon," She said, "Attract doesn't always work, and besides, Jolteon's in love with someone already."

Jolteon, who was slowly becoming entranced, snapped out of it instantly, a harsh, grating growl rumbling in his throat at the fact she revealed that for everyone to hear.

"Anyhow, Quick Attack again, Jolteon!"

Jolteon rushed Dragonair as instructed, though he was slowed just a tiny bit by the Toxin running through his veins. Carrie could see, even from here, that Jolteon's health was leeching away.

Jolteon returned, stumbling slightly.

Carrie grit her teeth.

"You know what?" She said suddenly. "I've thrown everything else at you. Why not the last move?"

Jolteon looked at her, startled.

"Yeah, that's right. You're about to faint, anyways. Why not use it?"

"Jolteon, Last Resort!"

Jolteon turned to obey, charged with a white light. He swayed, slightly, before running with all his speed towards Dragonair, meaning to take it down with one last physical maneuver.

Carrie bit her lip. Last Resort could only be used when there was nothing else left, and it was the strongest move Jolteon knew--even stronger than Zap Cannon, if that was possible, which it was.

She waited.

Michael smirked. "Dragonair is like Dragonite in more ways than in name. Dragonair, Protect!"

The snake-like Pokemon curled itself up, covering itself in a blue shell of energy to protect itself from harm. This meant that when the Last Resort hit, no matter how strong it was, it wasn't about to break through the shielding of Protect, also meaning that Jolteon's energy was close to, if not already, used up.

Jolteon was panting now, the Toxic leaking into his system with incredible speed.

Carrie knew they would lose this round. She was about to recall him, thinking him down for the count, but he barked at her sharply when she reached for his Pokeball.

She started, looking at him in surprise. The gleam in his eyes told her everything: he refused to go back until he was knocked out cold.

She regretfully lowered the ball.

"Alright...Alright. We can handle this. One last attack."

"Jolteon, Flash!"

Once more blinding light filled the area.

"Do what you did to Dragonite! Shock Wave combined with Tackle!"

Jolteon dredged up the last bits of his energy, pushing himself to his limits as he charged Dragonair one last time, determination and a blank refusal to back down powering him to high speeds. Electricity whipped past his lithe frame, and he jumped to crash into Dragonair.

((OOC: Thanks for lettin' me in on this. No, this topic won't drag 8)))

BIC:

The flashes and shouting distracted Alexander from him normal duties of training.

"What is this...a battle?" He grinned widely. "Perhaps I should...'greet' them, hmm?" The large boulder next to him suddenly moved to reveal Titan, his rock-hard companion. Titan regarded Alexander with a somewhat blank face, since it was sleeping.

Alex was going to calmly walk to the site of the bout, but decided not to. Those trainers were putting up a good fight...Thunder from the sky...Ringing of bells; undoubtedly Heal Bell...Roars from an unknown Pokemon...They would need to heal. "I'll head to the nearest town...it sounds like...two men and a woman...I'll just look for a group consiting of those counterparts."

This would be good. But first things first.

"All of you, come out." In seconds, six Pokemon were in front of him, all with an eager look upon their faces. Except for Fort and Gigas...they were asleep, but Gigas woke up from time to time.

"Looks like we have a good couple trainers in the distance. I propose we show them a show they'll never forget. Suraimu, Gigas, Fort...FORT!...Mythril, Sniper...my friends...are you ready for another victory?!"

All of them cheered in unison. Not out of rage or the urge to win.

But because it would be fun.

Sonjo looked over his shoulder, his two Pokemon companions still glued to the battle at hand. He noticed a trainer in the distance, who had just released his Pokemon out of their portable homes. "Curious... I wonder who they are...?" Riolu sense their auras, yet ignored them anyway.

Michael yelled at Dragonair quickly, matching it with his words- "Quick Attack!"

Dragonair disappeared from view, before attacking Jolteon from the side, head aimed directly for the electric-type's side, attempting to knock it over. Due to the dog's momentum, if it got knocked over, it would most likely having trouble getting back up, especially with the fact that it already had trouble staying completely on its feet.
