Matthew was unaware of Gible's dive speed and he almost thought Deino would go down from the surprise attack. The Dragon Rage attack surprised Matt a little bit at first though he remembered Mike using it against Alan back in Doubles Class the other day. As the sxplosion rang out across the forest training area Matthew didn't know whether to call it quits due to Gible's powerful attack or to keep going. He had an ace up his sleeve ever since Deino was born and considering Gible's typing, the best time to play the card would be now. "Deino I don't know if you can hear me in that smoke cloud but I've gotta try. Use Ice Fang! Flip Gible!" he shouted. Deino, wounded heavily from the Dragon Rage, tilted its head back until it was almost completely upside down. His mouth swelled with light blue energy as he clamped down once again on Gible's dorsal fin. In one last resort attempt, he threw his head forward, flipping the Gible right off his back. Deino's legs popped off of the arena floor due to Gible's impact but after a split second he was back on the ground. "Great job Deino!" he shouted, waiting to see if Gible would get back up or not.

It took a moment for Mike to realized what happened. After he heard Matthew tell Deino to use Ice Fang, he became very worried. He saw Gible on the great seemingly defeated. "Oh well," Mike said with a laugh. "Somebody had to lose I guess, return Gible you did amazing," Mike said disappointingly. "The battle isn't over yet, go Quilava!" Mike said as he released another Pokeball. A red flash appeared revealing Quilava. "Now it's Deino's turn. Quilava you know what to do," Mike said. He and his Pokemon have practiced a certain strategy. "Well, make a move," the young trainer said with a grin on his face.

Matthew smiled as Mike revealed his next Pokemon. It was his newly evolved Quilava. He remembered watching it battle against Wes a little bit. He didn't get every piece of info that he possibly could've gathered but it was enough to deduce that Quilava was definitely no pushover when it came to speed. "So then a widespread attack would be best." he thought to himself. "Well in that case...Deino use Dragon Breath and make it wide!" he called out. The little dragon reeled back its head before thrusting it forward once more. He released a widespread gust of dark blue dragonic energy from his mouth that seemed like it was even too much for a mere stage 1 Pokemon.

Mike frowned at the dark, blue gas. "Repel it with ember," Mike said lazily. Quilava focused his eyes on the gas. He released fireballs against the gas which caused an explosion in the field. "Try a flame charge," Mike said with no energy whatsoever. Quilava engulfed his entire body in flames and charged at Deino. He hit the Pokemon softly and returned a safe distance away from Deino. "I'm just going to keep repelling your Dragon Breath attacks," Mike said bored.

Wes watched the battle with apt attention as he typed on the PDA in his hands. He gasped as the eruption of power from Deino blocked his view of the field. Wes peered through the haze to discover that Gible had fainted. Somehow I knew that this would be the case. Matt is against Luxio and Quilava next. Mike is going to come back quickly because Deino is worn out. he thought as he typed about the defeat in his writing.

So the next to battle is Quilava, interesting. Wes' conscious mind said. The trainer noticed the sudden change in Mike's attitude. This isn't the Mike that I know. He seems so aloof. What's the problem? he wondered as Quilava dashed at the dragon to deal a quick blow before returning to it's trainer.

Matthew's Dragon Breath was repelled with Ember and Deino was tagged with a Flame Charge. It wasn't enough to knock the little dragon out even though it was on its last legs. Something was wrong. The boy didn't want to think it, especially from someone like Mike but, was he being toyed with? Matthew looked back up with determination in his eyes. "Well if you're not gonna knock Deino out then we'll keep fighting." he said. "Tch...that thing's getting faster thanks to Flame Charge. Deino won't be able to handle him." he thought. "Alright buddy let's go. Crunch attack!" he shouted. Deino sprinted right at Quilava and jumped up, attempting to bite him right on the top of the head.

"All right, things are getting a little interesting," Mike said with a smile forming on his face. "Get some momentum going and then use flame charge!" Mike shouted over to his Pokemon. Quilava cracked the surface of the ground with its strong paws creating rocks. He jumped on the rocks while they were floating and jumped while getting some fire around his body. He hit Deino's chest hard and went back to the ground. Mike began looking for more structures around the arena.

Taking a look at his PDA before getting off of the ground Alan say "Wow, were late. singles class is nearly over"

After standing Alan picks his bag back up before offering Jezz his hand.

"Well.. no use showing up this late. Wanna get lunch in town?" He asks as he helps the girl to her feet before retrieving his three pokeballs from the nurse and thanking with a smile. After which he met up with Jezz at the door looking out the windows down both sides of the streets.

"Sure," Jezebel said with a wide grin. "This is actually my first time playing hooky," she confessed. "I lived with my Grandma during the school years and I was always to afraid she'd fond out that I skipped a class," she admitted with an ashamed blush as she took his hand to help her stand.

"What to eat?" she mutteredd out loud. Visions of pizza and burgers and pasta danced in her head.

With the coast apparently clear Alan leaves the Pokémon center taking looking up and down the street he immediately begins searching for a restaurant.

After nearly a block of walking through the Quaint Downtown area of South City when he sees a familiar sign. A restaurant called 'Le Magikarp'
It's a rather fancy restaurant, with an clean Kalos themed design. Featuring a golden Magikarp over the door and a sparsely seated patio with small round tables covered by red and white pokeball umbrellas.
"My Fathers Casino has one of these in it" Alan says excitedly as he pulls Jezz towards the door "the foods great!"

Jezebel gasped at the interior. Beautiful wood floors, high cielings, a couple aquariums, smooth walls, a hostess waiting to take them to a table. The other guests were wearing nice clothes, some clearly business people in meetings. "Looks fancy; you'd think my Grandma would have taken somewhere so clearly inspired by Kalos," Jezebel said as she let herself be pulled inside. Even from the doorway, she could smell the rich food from the kitchen.

"It smells delicious; you got to eat this every day?" she asked in amazement. Her parents and grandparents had money but they still didn't usually see places like this.

"Rather often" Alan shrugged as the pair was seated by a rather attractive waitress with long blonde hair.
"Welcome to Le Magikarp, my name is Shelly , I'll be taking care of you today." She said as she placed Menus down in front of the two trainers "can I start you with anything to drink today?"

Alan ordered a cola-soda before picking up is menu and perusing the contents, a Chefs special Crab dish catching his eye.

"Hmmm, my family isn't big on seafood," Jezebel said as she quiet recalled Ammon, who had a look of horror on his face. "I'll have some water, thanks," she told Shelly with a smile.

"What would you recommend?" she asked him as she perused the menu, the words nearly foreign to her. "The shrimp Alfredo and the cedar planked salmon sound good."

Checking his wristwatch Professor Beech calls the battle "would you look at the time everyone! That will be it for today" the professor approaches the control panel for the battlefield and sets it to reset itself as he dismisses the class.

Swarms of block bots emerge from the edges of the arena and begin removing and replacing the damaged synthetic trees and Compacting the ground. "Next period for you lot is endurance and partnership training with professor holly" he explains gesturing towards a large forested area on the edge campus. "Look for the lodge building" he adds before making his way back to the conference center.

"Aww, and the battle was just getting started," Mike said with a frown. He returned Quilava and headed for Endurance Training. He released them again so he could walk with them for a while. "You guys are amazing, I'm so glad to have such wonderful Pokemon," Mike said with a smile. His Pokemon cheerfully cried and hugged their trainer. "Hahaha. You guys. I'm so glad that you like me, too," he said. Mike headed for the lodge building like he remembered Prof. Beech told him to and then remembered about Alan and Jez. He took out his PDA and texted Alan: You guys good? Single Battles just finished.

"I defiantly advise against the shrimp" Alan says with a laugh "it was absolutely dreadful at the Kanto Location"

Waiting for a few moments Alan attempts to make conversation while the pair waits for the waitress to return "how are you feeling today? Any better?"

Hearing the beep of his pda he checks the message from his roommate before quickly replying with a short 'Busy' and sliding the PDA underneath his leg

"Thanks to the magic of tylonol," she assured him with a small laugh. "Seriously, though, I'm just glad I didn't need to go to a hospital... And where were you when this happened again?" she couldn't help but ask as her suspicions flared back up.

She tried to push them down. She was making friends, she shouldn't blow it. Besides, even if he was guilty, she could always enjoy the act while she kept an eye out. "So the salmon then? It looks good to; what are you going to get?"

Wes looks up from the PDA in his hands, surprised to hear Beech's voice coming from the battlefield. I thought this was supposed to be a full battle. he thought to himself as he scrolled through the four page summary of the tactics used in the halted battle. Now it almost feels unfinished. his mind thought as the professor described their next class. Wes gestured to Shieldon, who was still grinding his face against the now shining metal seat, for it to follow him. As the trainer stood, Growlithe leaped from his shoulder and barked loudly.

"I'm as excited as you all are for the next class. I wonder what this 'endurance' thing is all about?" he exclaimed with a laugh. Wes placed the PDA in his pocket, vowing to print out the essay after class at the library. His attention was captured by the line of trees in the distance and he spoke once more,

"I guess we should start heading over there so we can find that lodge." he said as they exited the arena area. The team stepped onto the moving sidewalk, along with a few other students, and moved towards the central hub. The wind released Wes' hair as he stepped onto solid ground and began to peer at the holographic signs around the hub.

"Looking for the sidewalk that leads us to the Safari Zone. Any ideas, Dratini?" he asked as he looked to the Pokemon on his left shoulder that always seemed to be the most observant of the group.

"Dra- tini!" it called with a point of it's tail towards a sign. Wes read the description and grinned,

"Well that was quick! Let's go!" he exclaimed with a laugh before heading towards the sidewalk. The path whisked them away towards the almost foreboding stand of trees. I wonder if this Holly is the same one with the Steelix that saved us from the building. he wondered as he squinted at the woods. The Sun was now falling from its zenith and it shone brilliantly in the sky; making him pinch up his face to see through the blinding lenses of his glasses. As they neared the line of trees, the path deposited them on a concrete path that wound it's way through the woods and towards a billow of smoke rising in the sky.

"That's the lodge I'd bet! C'mon guys, let's check it out before everyone else gets there!" he yelled with glee as he started to pick up the pace through the woods. The two Pokemon following close behind cried with joy and pursued him quickly while Dratini clung tightly to his neck like a living scarf.

"I thought I told you yesterday, I Really don't remember what happened after the blast. I'm just glad everyone and their Pokémon was ok"
Alan attempted to dismiss the suspicion as the Waitress returned to the table "have you decided on your meals?" She asks with a friendly smile pulling a notepad from her apron pocket

"I'll be having the Feiture de Crabe Mou, and the Cedar Plank Salmon for the lady" Alan ordered the food as the waitress hastily copied the order and returned to the kitchen.

"I really hope you don't have any crazy ideas about me..." Alan said with a sigh meeting Jezz's eyes after the waitress was out of earshot.

As Mike waited for a response he continued down the path to the lodge. "I bet that "Holly" character is the professor," Mike thought. All of Mike's Pokemon wondered of what their trainer was doing right now. "I bet he's thinking of some brilliant strategy of a way he can help me beat that Deino," Gible said in Pokemon Talk with high respect for his trainer. "He may be a good trainer and all but he's not amazing or anything," Quilava said trying to be cool. "Please, don't try to act cool, you care for him more than any of us," Luxio said. "Pssh, me care for some... loving...nice...smart... trainer? Nah," Quilava said. "You're dumb," Luxio said. "No I'm not!" Quilava said. The two Pokemon kept on arguing while Gible just sighed. "Why can't they agree on anything?" Gible wonders. Mike continued through the woods surrounding him and noticed Wes up ahead. "Hey! Are you excited for Endurance Training?" Mike asked as he jogs up ahead to keep up with Wes.

"Eh, ignore me. I try to not be suspicious but kind of hard with my family," she replied with an eyeroll. "One thing my dad believes in teaching early: Prove to the kid backstabbers are everywhere, starting at home," she said with an apologetic shrug.

"Guess you were at the wrong place at the wrong time? I mean, those thugs were snickering about it and they attacked us."

Upon hearing a voice behind him, Wes skidded to halt on his heels and spun around. The Pokemon previously chasing, overtook him in seconds before they too stopped and turned to look at the owner of the voice. A smile played out on the trainer's face as he realized who owned the voice,

"Hey Mike! Yeah, I've never heard of anything like this before. It's longer than the other classes so it should be interesting." he exclaimed as his eyes captured the two arguing Pokemon behind the approaching trainer.

Mike followed Wes's eyes and saw his two Pokemon arguing. "Yeah very interesting," Mike says slowly while eyeballing his Pokemon. "Don't mind those guys, they always argue. Maybe we'll get new Pokemon. I think that's just what my Pokemon need. New friends," Mike says still looking at his Pokemon. Eventually Quilava and Luxio saw their trainer and stopped talking. "By the name 'Endurance Training' I assume it'll be teaching us how to live while traveling. You know, camping for the night and such," he says while looking at the other trainer.

Wes pondered Mike's response with a hand on his chin,

"Yeah, I suppose that might be helpful. I haven't taken my journey, yet. Believe it or not, my mother wouldn't let me." he said with a laugh and a fidget of his glasses. The trainer scratched the neck of the Dratini who rested on his shoulders. The serpent-like Pokemon purred like a Purrloin from the action, sending tingles down Wes' spine.

Matthew was still a little annoyed at the fact that the battle had been cut short but he enjoyed it while it lasted. "Well we better get going to the Endurance Training class." the boy said, scooping up the Deino in his arms. "We'll get you taken care of soon." he said. The boy stopped at the nurse's office and got Deino healed. He then proceeded in the direction he saw Wes heading earlier. He wasn't sure if it would lead him to his destination but it seemed good enough for him. He walked alongside Deino and looked at the sky. "You know Deino. You're actually really powerful. It's too bad you haven't evolved yet but man when you do you'll be unstoppable I bet." he said with a smile. In a few minutes, Matthew too, found himself on the path to the lodge in the Safari Zone. "This could be fun Deino. It could be our chance to meet new Pokemon. Wouldn't that be great?" he asked with a smile. He just continued down the path quite a ways behind where Wes and Mike currently were, making his way to the lodge.

Mike's Pokemon noticed Dratini's playful behavior. "Let's prove we're nicer Pokemon," Gible said. The rest of the Pokemon nodded and began rubbing against Mike. "You guys are more playful than usual," Mike said a bit suspiciously. "Eh. It's probably because I let you guys out of your Pokeballs. Say, I should do that a lot more now that I think about it." Mike turned to face Wes. "I can believe it. I best most people haven't either. That's why they entered the school," he tells the other trainer. Mike hears a noise and turns around, to see Matthew. "Hey! It's too bad that class was cut short. Me and Wes are heading over to Endurance Training. Wanna come?" Mike offers.

"If there's anyone to be suspicious of those two" Alan says with a slight laugh as the waitress returned to the table food in hand.

Setting the meals down she takes Alan's cup to refill his soda leaving the two alone once more. The food looks amazing. Alan's dish a softshelled crab friend whole. The light crispy breadding in stark contrast to the dark oily schichimi served along side it.

The salmon grilled medium rare was served on the wet wooden plank used to grill it. Without grill lines the flesh of the fish remained pristine glistening with a healthy amount of oil and spotted generosly with seasoning.

----

The moving sidewalks ended at the forests edge. The area was fenced off save the large open gate and was labeled "safari Area" and "caution, wild Pokémon" consistently down the length of the fence.

A several minute walk down the forest path lead the class to a large log cabin. Outside a massive silver steelix was sound asleep nearly stretching all the way around the building.

On the steps the woman from the day before. Tall and thin with freckles and long green hair. She waved to the students before leaping down the flight of stairs
"Glad to see everyone's still Alive" she laughs "For now, I kid I kid !! Too soon??"

Lexie groaned as she awoke from her sleep. She looked at her phone to see that it was time for endurance class and grimaced. "Well, I shouldn't make it a habit of being late or skipping," She said to herself as she got out of bed. She rushed to get ready. She slipped on blue jean shorts and a white shirt and then put a black BTU sweatshirt on over that. She brushed her teeth and her long dark hair and then finally put on her maroon sneakers. "Hey guys, it's time to get up," She said to her pokemon. She handed them some berries to eat while she got her things ready for class. Once they finished eating, Eevee jumped up on her shoulder, Sandile crawled up her arm to her head so he could rest there and she picked up Totodile to hold in her arms. She grabbed her keys and walked out the door. She quickly locked it and made her way to class.

Wes waved at the newcomer and spoke along with Mike,

"Yeah, you're welcome to come along on the trip. I think the lodge is just beyond this bend in the trail." he said gesturing at the trail. The trainer began to walk once more along the path through the woods with an expression of awe. Sure is beautiful under here. he thought as he looked to the canopy that was sprinkled with holes for the Sun's rays to come through. The trainer noticed the sudden vines that seemed to swoop around overhead like a hanging garden. Vegetation and bush grew among the thick trunks of the large trees that now shielded them from the Sun. The sweet aroma of wildflowers and sap seemed to fill the air as the wind rattled the leaves of the canopy.

As if understanding his thoughts, Dratini nodded with wide eyes as it too stared at the scenery. The group rounded the bend and spotted the lodge up ahead. It's wooden structure seemed to mesh naturally with the woods, yet the creature wrapped around it did not. The Steelix that Wes had not yet seen in it's entirety due to his absence of glasses that day, shone with a brilliant, metallic glow and snored peacefully under the eaves of the forest. Holly leaped down the steps to greet them and Wes recognized her green hair as the smudge of green upon the Steelix's head from the terrorist event. He grinned and responded with a laugh,

"Yeah, it may be too soon, but it's over. Time to do some Endurance Training!" The trainer adjusted his glasses nervously after finding that the professor, who he had originally thought was a green smudge, was beautiful.

"Well have a look around" the professor says gesturing towards the nearby trees. Around them you can see and elaborate course of ropes and bridges spanning the forest canopy. In the canopy you can also make out a giant flock of Taillow and Swellow aggressively watching the classes every move. "You'll have to work In tandem with your Pokémon to complete the course, don't get discouraged, you're not expected to complete it on your first try"

When the Professor joked Mike got a little upset. He was surprised that Wes was fine with the joke but decided to not make a fuss about it. "Wes you say it's time do Endurance Training but you have no idea what Endurance Training is," Mike pointed out. Luxio laughed at Holly's joke. "HOW CAN YOU LAUGH AT THAT?! SHE'S JOKING ABOUT PEOPLE BEING ALIVE!!!" Quilava roared. "Relax Quilava it's just a joke," Luxio said. "Just a joke?" Quilava said while turning his head. Then the two began arguing again. "Professor, first of all, what's your name? Secondly, is this class just going to be going though courses? Aren't we going to catch Pokémon? I mean it is a Safari Zone, there are tons of wild Pokémon around here," Mike pointed out.

Wes followed her gesture with his now crimson tinged face, eager to break their eye contact. He peered through the trees to the elaborate course among the leaves and the flock of familiar bird Pokemon. His jaw dropped with awe as he noticed the extensive obstacles that laced through the trees like natural structures. With a nervous laugh he answered,

"I suppose this will be the hardest class of the day?" His eyes sparked with interest at a sudden thought, This is what I've been looking for. I've wanted to make myself as strong as my Pokemon and this is how I'm going to do it!

Matthew heard Mike's voice all of a sudden and looked down from the sky. "Oh yeah that was too bad. That battle was starting to get interesting." he said with a smile. On the inside however, the trainer was thinking more about Mike during the battle. His attitude shifted drastically during the battle between Quilava and Deino. "What happened to him back then." he thought.

Meanwhile when he was in the classroom he was shocked at how different Professor Holly was from Professor Larch. "So what I'm noticing is...everyone but that man is actually a fun teacher." he thought to himself with a smile. He then heard Professor Holly's comments and his smile turned to a wide-eyed expression with his jaw hanging at least a foot from its original position. "Did she just joke about our death?" he shouted in his mind.

That wasn't the focus at the Matthew's moment however. He looked around at the rigorous course set up for the endurance training and smiled with determination. "Seems like today is gonna be difficult. No...this class will be difficult from now on." he said. He then took a look at his Deino who was still out of its Pokeball. "You're gonna get strong buddy." he said, petting the little dragon. He then looked up at the bird Pokemon who were flying around and staring at them intensely, as if daring them to move at all. "Geez this is gonna be fun." he said, sarcastically.

"Wow, a restaurant with food that actually looks as good as the pictures? I'm shocked," she joked as she cut into the tender fish. Upon taking her first bite, she couldn't help but pause. This was some of the best food she had ever eaten!

"How upscale is your father's casino if he can afford to have places like this in them?" she asked.

Continuing the conversation in between bites of crab. "It's a nice place, if you can get past the seedy people" He laughed. "Though Elite Four members and Region Champions did stay with us from time to time"

--- "sooooo who's going first?" The professor addressed the class. Retrieving two belts. Holding them up, you can see that each has on Oran berry attached to it. The bird Pokémon in the trees attention also shifts towards the belts. "Both you and your Pokémon must wear one of these during the challenge. If each of you loses your berry, the challenge is over"

Wes, thinking that the only way to win this woman over was to play her sport, raised his hand quickly. At the motion, his face turned red, Why am I being like this. he wondered as Holly acknowledged his raised hand. He adjusted his glasses with the other hand,

"I'll try it out." he said as he put his arm down, "Seems like fun." He tried to play his too quick motion off by sounding uninterested in what he had volunteered for, but it didn’t help matters much. The trainer's eyes fell to the two Pokemon at his feet and the one upon his shoulder. He scratched his chin as the gears turned inside of his mind, Now, who do I choose for this? he thought.

"Nice," Jezebel complements before quieting down so she can eat. Ammon's pokeballs quivered, knowing what she was eating.

Upon finishing, she relaxed back in her chair with her arms behind her head. "You sure know how to treat a girl," she joked with a smirk. Deciding to continue the joke, she pressed on. "So what now: the romantic boat ride or the horror movie guys always hope will scare a girl into their laps?"

"The first Vict--- I mean... participant of the year." The professor joked with Wes as she holds the belt out for him. even steelix had woken up to watch the trial. " Step right up! Don't be shy, take a belt" the professor says with a smirk. "Oh oh, and choose your Pokémon!!!!"

------

"I mean, if you're really intent on missing the rest of the schoolday, you could come back to my room and help me set up for the party, maybe do a little pregaming" Alan winks before waving to the waitress signaling that he'd like the check.

Shelly smiled and asked about the food and thanked the trainers for their patronage as Alan handed her a matte black and silver card

"I see you're from Rokkett Casino" the waitress says admiring the card "not many people carry these anymore"

Alan simply offered her a curt nod as she took the card away to charge for the meal.

"The Rokkett Casino? Everyone from Kanto knows that name," she said, letting her question remain unvoiced. This did nothing but make her more curious.

"We should probably head back; it should be time for Endurance Training. I'm really hoping we can catch pokemon in that class," she told him with her former excitement coming back. "Pokemon or party planning... well, I enjoy the party more than the setup," she added while sticking her tongue out at him.
