Ask to Join Pokémon Trainer University

Moments later the Waitress returned the card to Alan and the two of you left the building.

Taking the tram back across the river to Larousse the two return to the University. The two walked back through the residential district and the park arrived at the gate a good thirty minutes into endurance class.

"I'd love to do this again sometime" Alan said as the two parted ways "but I guess I'll see you tonight"

Wes grinned at her joke and took the twin belts from her hands. He made sure to grab the opposite side of the belts in order to avoid physical contact; there was no telling what that would do to him.

The trainer peered back to his Pokemon with a question in his mind, Who would be the best fit to protect the Oran Berries? The question seemed to reach the trio of creatures because they all stared expectantly at him with glistening eyes. As the six eyes glared into his soul, he thought about the pros and cons of each of the Pokemon. Dratini can easily take out the birds with Thunder Wave, yet it may not be able to keep up through the course without proper extremities. Shieldon, on the other hand, would be rather defenseless without the ground under his feet to use as ammunition. Not to mention, that Shieldon is the slowest of the three. Growlithe is probably the best choice due to it's quick fire power, agility, and speed. As if on cue, the Puppy Pokemon barked with agreement and leaped into the air with excitement.

"What do you say, Growlithe?" he questioned as he held the belt towards it. The creature barked once more and jumped through the belt, catching it with it's back legs to allow it to hang loosely around it's body. Wes laughed and crouched next to the Pokemon to fasten the belt tightly to it's body. He did the same with his own belt and the pair walked towards the entrance of the course followed by cries of encouragement from Shieldon and Dratini.

"The course starts over there" she said pointing to a rope ladder dangling from a tree branch behind the students grouped in front of the cabin "you are allowed to use any means necessary to complete the course... oh.... one last thing. Watch out for the traps"

The professor was obviously having way to much fun with this. Looking back a majority of your classmates were pale in the face some even brandishing looks of horror.

"Sounds like a plan," Jezebel said with a smile as she went off toward her last class. She couldn't help the wide grin on her face. This had been the best day she had had in quite some time.

But his father owned a Rokkett Casino; could he be mixed up with the wrong people, just not in the way that she thought? Strangely, she found herself not caring. Even if he was, wasn't she as well? Her family tried to seem great for the sake of their careers but there was just as much crazy in her small family as there was in all of the legendary team, Team Rocket. Just a different kind of crazy...

Releasing Ammon from his pokeballs and helping the little guy get on her shoulder, she told him, "You know what, Ammon? I'm just not going to worry about it anymore." And with that, she took off for class, grinning ear to ear.

She was able to slip in unnoticed just as Wes was putting a belt with an oran berry attached to it on Growlithe. Figuring this was some kind of daily test, she called out her support, hoping she wouldn't distract him once the test started. "Come on, Wes; you've got this!"

Wes followed her gaze to the rope ladder and gulped. This might be a little tougher than what I oroginally thought. his mind said as the pair of Pokemon and Trainer walked to the rope ladder. The trainer noticed Holly's obvious glee and he couldn't help the grin that played out on his face.

A twitch of his glasses arose after the mention of traps as Wes looked back to the class and the Professor. All of their faces were deathly pale and worry stricken; all except Holly of course, who seemed to giggle at every step that he made towards the rope ladder.

He heard the call from Jez as he placed a hand on the rope ladder. The trainer gave a thumbs up with the other hand, not wanting to be distracted from the course. Growlithe seemed to glow with determination and the fire in it's eyes had never grown brighter.

Wes hoisted himself up the rope ladder; making sure to get a firm hold before moving on. I can't make a fool of myself. his mind told him as he took another step up. Growlithe pranced lightly up the ladder beside it's trainer; the absence of fingers not seeming to faze the fire-type. Wes grinned at it's confidence,

"Alright, buddy. We've gotta protect these berries. So, always keep it covered from those birds. If one gets too close, you give it a fiery Ember attack to the face!" he exclaimed as they reached the platform in the branches.

OOC: I need some explanation of the course to continue.

OOC: I got you

Wes And growlithe and managed to scale the ladder which left them standing on a wooden platform stretching around the trunk of the tree. The Pokémon in the trees seemed to know this game and were chirping up a storm, almost as if to taunt the trainer and his Pokémon. Ahead of Wes lay a Rickity wooden Rope bridge (+hidden swinging log trap) and after that a set of reinforced branches and ropes meant for jumping or swinging.
There was a moment of peace up in the treetop, followed by what could only be described as a battle cry from the Large swellow, which whipped all of the smaller birds into a frenzy.

-- Alan was beside himself with giddiness as he made his way back to the dorms, he made a conscious effort to appear inconspicuous as he greeted the officer posted outside the boy's dorm before hurriedly he made his way up the stairs and into his dorm room.

After hearing the door lock behind him he collapsed onto his bed for a moment before pulling out his PDA and messaging Mike with an apology "Sorry I blew you off earlier man, I was on a date in town. See you tonight ^.^"

With that out of the way he began the process of setting up for the party. Unwraping Several large bottles of hard liquor and opening the case of beer. He also took the time to tidy up the room. Making his bed and finally disposing of the charred clothing in the bathtub.

As the pair stood upon the supported platform, an uproar of chirping birds began to sound their presence among the trees. Wes walked over to the opposite side of the platform to peer at the course. First, he saw an unsafe-looking rope bridge scaling between his platform and the next. That looks exciting. he told himself sarcastically as he looked to the next obstacle. Reinforced branches and ropes filled the clearing between the two platforms to create some sort of swinging course. As he finished eyeing the course, a mighty Swellow's call could be heard among the trees. The voice of this Pokemon seemed to rally the lesser birds into an even greater uproar, causing the trees around them to shake. He flinched at the noise and twitched with his glasses before calling to Growlithe over the raucous,

"Slow and steady, Growlithe. We don't need to hurt ourselves. Remember to Ember those birds!" With that, the pair made their way to the rope bridge. He grabbed the ropes on either side to balance, and tested the first plank. It fell to the forest floor below him the second he placed his weight on it. Wes leaped back in alarm and thought, She wasn't kidding about the traps.

He tested the next plank with his weight and found it to be fine. The pair made their way carefully to the center of the bridge with a foreboding feeling beginning to creep in their hearts. Growlithe yelped as the next two planks fell to the forest's vegetation.

Shortly after the pair stepped onto the bridge the onslaught of bird Pokémon began. Taillow streamed from the trees like a rain of arrows snatching at the Oran Berries and buffeting the trainer and his Pokémon with weak but innumerable wing attacks

-----

Back in his room Alan had just finished setting up the party when he heard a knock at the door. He tossed a sheet over the dresser covered in alcohol before opening the door to greet his visitor.

Standing in the doorway was the RA that he hadn't seen since the first day. The boy had a cast on his left arm, presumably from the attack on the Acedemic building

"How can I help you?" Alan asked the third year, having completely forgotten his name over the last two days

"You got a call from your uncle downstairs" the boy explained "you can use the PC in the Rec Area to get in touch with Him if you llike" the boy then smiled and excused himself leaving Alan to wonder why His uncle from lavaridge was trying to get in touch with him.

Having decided that pondering about it would bring no results Alan scooped up his pokeballs off is bed and left for the rec floor.

Being the middle of the school day there was hardly anyone on the floor. A handful of older students were studying or using the PCs but the room was empty compared to the massive crowd that usually gathers here to hang out in the evenings. Alan looked up and down the rows of Pcs before selecting one a few computers away from the nearest student. Even though all of the computers were divided by privacy walls, Alan didn't really want anyone listening in on his conversation.

After booting up the Pc Alan used the video call feature to contact his uncle, the machine ringing several times before the greying face of Grayson Race appeared on the screen. Greeting his Nephew the two talked for some time, Grayson having called the moment he heard about the attack on the news. After having assured his uncle that he was unharmed he lied saying that he needed to get back to class, stopping short to ask his uncle to do him a favor.

"You still have my other Pokémon at the house right?"

"Yeah, and I gotta say it's been a lot less lonely with them around" Grayson Laughed

"I was wondering if you could send one of them to me, I can only have three Pokémon here so I'll be sending you Vulpix"

"Your Vulpix is such a sweetie, who did you want sent out to you?"

"Sneasel!" Alan said with a nod knowing that Pokémon would be much more confortable here, Vulpix was a bit too much of a diva to handle this intensive school.

Alan took a moment to boot up the Poke-Transporter on the PC before placing Vulpix's pokeball inside
"Take good care of my uncle now Vulpix" Alan said as the pokeball dematerialized before quickly being replaced by another.
"Thanks Uncle G, I'll call you and give you an Update after the first tournament" Alan promised before powering down the computer and returning to his dorm room

The Tailow began their onslaught on the pair, who stood in the open in the middle of the bridge. Wes ducked, covering his head with his hands. Growlithe barked at the birds and it's chest glowed crimson with the oncoming of an Ember. Wes yelled,

"Growlithe, Ember attack, now!" the Puppy Pokemon unleashed the blaze from within. The small birds seemed to fall as burning sacks of feathers as the Ember struck the flock. Wes gestured for Growlithe to leap over the two plank absence. The Pokemon nodded and jumped to the other side with ease, still pelting the sky with fire. Wes stood from his crouch and stepped over the gap with apprehension. A Tailow ruffled his hair and he turned his head to find it. The bird had escaped to the trees, but the next one was coming quickly. Wes pointed at the oncoming creature,

"Ember!" a fiery blaze escaped from Growlithe's jaws at its trainer's command. The pair rushed over the remaining planks to the stable platform, taking cover under the branches of the large, Oak Tree. Wes panted loudly and fixed the position of the glasses on his nose.

OOC: Sorry for the shortish post, I actually do feel dizzy and sick, so my time writing is limited.
BIC:
Kai woke up in a strange place. He looked around for a bit, before realising something. He was in hospital.
"..Where am.. I?" he groaned before sitting up. He was still dizzy and tired, but he was well enough to limp around. Searching for his Pokemon, he spotted the three Pokeballs amd let each out: Mimikyu, Phantump and Gastly. His Phantump whirled around his head while Mimikyu sat on Kai's lap. Gastly got into a fight with the Phantump.
Kai giggled and tried to intervene the battle.
"You two, stop arguing for once!"

Jezebel mooved around the course, trying to keep Wes and Growlithe in sight. She had a bounce in her step, both from lingering joy at her day out, the excitement of the coming party, and her anticipation at giving this course a shot. She had an idea of how to win but doing so would leave her without a partner for the first bit of the course.

She couldn't help but mumble to herself about how much she needed a ground type. It would just cover so many of her weaknesses right now! She headed over to the professor.

She couldn't help but giggle at the over excited professor. Maybe Professor Larch just had a gift for sucking the fun out of everything he touched. "Professor Holly?" She asked. "I hate to inturrup your class but when can we catch new pokemon. My team is great but we really need a fourth family member."

"Catching Pokémon is to be done during your own time" Explained the professor, not taking her eyes off the ongoing match "And you do know you can only have three Pokémon at any time while enrolled here ,correct?"

The professor the. Turned to address the class. "Alright! He's made it far enough, the next one of you can start"

Mike began moving on the course and cheering for Wes and Growlithe. His Pokemon were doing the same. "You can do it! Go Wes and Growlithe!" they were all repeating. Mike heard Jez say something to Professor Holly and went over there. "Yeah, I asked the same thing, too. Is this class just going to be courses? When can we catch Pokemon?" Mike repeated. His Pokemon followed Mike and heard what he said. "Do you think he wants to replace us?" Luxio asked the other Pokemon. "No way!" Gible and Quilava said simultaneously. "What are you even worried about? He probably wants for us to get new friends, like he said to Wes," Quilava said. "So you do care about him!" Luxio exclaimed. This time, Quilava blushed and admitted it.
Mike heard the Professor's response and announcement to the class. "I don't want to do that today, maybe Matthew will?" Mike told Jez.

Without warning the massive Swellow cried again before swooping down and colliding into growlite with a steel wing attack.

The force of the blow sent the Pokémon tumbling off of the platform and down towards the ground, luckily steelix was there to catch the Pokémon from the air, saving t from a hard fall while the smaller birds swiped the berry from its belt

Matthew just sat and watched Wes go through the course. He started to realize that Professor Holly was a complete maniac, but at least she knew how to keep her students on their toes. "Well Deino. I would've died three times already if I was going first." he said with a slight laugh. He was sending his positive encouragement to Wes on the inside but he was also intensely watching the trainer complete the course in order to study it. "This is no joke. She really put thought into this whole thing." he said with a smile.

"Wait, during our entire enrollment?!" Jezebel said in shock. "Not just the first year or something?!" How could this be? What would she do?! Her team was good but there were still a few types she simply didn't have any answer for.

"But trainers are meant to have sox pokemon," she protested, barely registering it was someone else's turn on the course.

As the pair continued to the next course across their little safe haven, a mighty cry echoed from the trees. The Swellow had returned. Everything seemed to vanish around them except the gigantic bird with the now metallic wing - swooping down to attack. Growlithe noticed the beast and immediately ignited the flames within it's chest. Yet, the pure speed of the bird Pokemon was too much of a match for the Puppy Pokemon. Swellow's massive wing struck the Growlithe in the chest with a glowing wing; sending the Pokemon hurdling towards the earth. Wes could only gasp as the breeze of the Swellow's flight hit him. The trainer looked down to find Growlithe unconscious on the silver head of Steelix. What am I going to do without Growlithe? he worried as the Tailow bombarded the berry on the fallen Pokemon. Wes' eyes glazed with anger, No one takes out my partners!

The trainer faced the next obstacle, fueled by the adrenaline coursing through his veins. He launched himself off the haven to the first rope. With a firm hold on the rope, he swung his feet to a branch. Wes let his arms fall from the rope with a grunt as he moved to the next solid branch. The trainer continued to climb up the tree until a rope could be reached to take him to the next. He swung across the gnarled rope to the next tree as a flock of Tailow dive-bombed his exposed berry. He glared at the birds and as one came too close, he swatted it from flight with his foot.

"Come at me, Tailow!" he shouted in challenge over their uproar. He swung to the next tree on a branch that he thought would be reinforced, but it wasn't. The branch cracked beneath him and he fell with a shout. Suddenly, a close branch came into view and he reached out to grab it in vain. The branch held beneath his weight and he hung there with his hands wrapped around it. He winced as his hanging form pulled the skin around his cuts from the twigs and Tailow. The trainer shouted once more and pulled himself onto the branch.

"The limit on team size promotes quicker and more homogeneous growth" the professor explained with a shrug "the school is not affiliated with the Pokémon league, though most trainers after leaving here have no problems competing in the league with only three Pokémon."

As the final ten minutes of the class period approached the only people who hadn't yet completed the course were Jezz, Lexi, Mike, and Matt. A majority of your classmates had hardly made it past the first bridge without losing their berries or falling out of the canopy.

Now down a few branches from the fall, Wes started a hard climb up the tree and towards the next rope. As he sat on a branch halfway up, his breath came in heavy inhales and small exhales. The trainer wiped the sweat from his brow and adjusted the glasses on his nose. He sighed and began his climb once more.

After looking across to a new rope, the trainer prepared himself mentally for the launch over to it. Suddenly, he heard a thump and noticed a classmate of his fall from the rope bridge and to the Steelix's head. The Swellow called out with triumph, berry in mouth, and swooped into the trees. Wes grimaced at the majestic being, Your gonna pay for knocking Growlithe off. he thought as he felt a cut on his cheek. The trainer launched himself to the rope and swung across to the last platform of the course. He crouched on the wooden planks with a small smile growing on his sweat-lathered face. I did it. he thought with relief.

The trainer climbed down the rope ladder on this side and found his team waiting for him at the bottom. Growlithe barked loudly while Dratini and Shieldon cheered in their own voices. He grinned and allowed them to bombard him with something like hugs. The trainer fell to the ground with a laugh, absolutely exhausted from the course.

"I'm glad that's over." he said, his heart still beating quickly.

Professor holly ran over to help you off the last rungs of the ladder. "That was a good run for day one" she clapped for you. Before gesturing further in the forest. The entire wooded area was full of different courses. Some in the trees. Some on the ground, It looks like Pokémon boot-camp. "this is just a taste of what the class has to offer" She explained, and steelix roared in agreement

Wes grinned as the professor ran over to him from the lodge. How was that, Holly? he thought to himself as she gestured to the forest. He peered through the trees to the rest of the courses and combed through his hair with a nervous laugh. His eyes kept on snatching glimpses of the woman beside him as he studied the rest of the obstacles. The roar from the Steelix behind the pair of trainers seemed to shake the earth around them and Wes looked from the scenery and Holly to the glistening snake.

"So, what's the story with your Steelix, here?" he asked earnestly. Dratini slithered up to the snake and cried out to it from the ground below, it's small stature looking microscopic to the gigantic beast.

"Fine," Jezebel grumbled, clearly still very angry at the news. "I'll take on the course next with my Omanyte," she told the professor, attitude barely hidden in her voice. "This school is insane! You need at least four pokemon to cover all your bases properly!" she internally raged.

Matthew's jaw dropped as he looked deeper into the forest and spotted even more courses most likely designed to work the trainers' physical bodies to their limits. "She wants us to do as much training as our Pokemon." he said to himself with a smile. It was ingenious, increasing the bonds between trainer and Pokemon by having them work together in even more dangerous situations than a battle. "This class keeps getting better and better." he thought.

"You can't have perfect preparedness for every situation" the professor child's Jezz " you need to learn how to be successful, even at a disadvantage"

Her demeanor changed as she saw several students (Mike, Matt, Lexie) stalling for time "You three better hop too it, or you'll all be going first tomorrow!!" She hollared at them

Still miffed, Jezebel scoffs at the teacher. "Lady, I've just been waiting for you to hand me a belt," she said with a smirk. Ammon covered his eyes with a tentacle knowing this same attitude is what almost always gets Jezebel in trouble. He blows bubbles in her face to try to knock sense into her.

"Really?" Jezebel asked, her patience gone. "I mean, come on; it is such a stupid rule!" she cried in frustration.

"I never said it wasn't a stupid rule, but I don't make the rules and that's the rule" The professor handed Jez two Oran berries and told her "go get the belt from the boy making eyes at me" she says jabbing a finger at Wes before winking at him

Jezebel hurried over to Wes. "Hand them over, buddy!" she said, still angry. "Ammon and I are up next!"

Excited to try the course, Ammon blew bubbles happily and waved his tentacles at Wes. "Come on; hurry!" he seemed to say.

Wes' face shone a bright red as Holly winked at him. His Pokemon groaned in exasperation, seeming to think he was becoming the "loverboy" type. Jez walked over to him through the forest and demanded the belts. Ammon waved it's squirly arms at him to hurry - making him grin at the Pokemon's cuteness,

"Guess I can't argue with that tone." he said as he quickly took off the belt and the berry. Wes handed the belt to her and crouched to remove Growlithe's odd fashion statement.

"You'd think I'd get to keep this berry after being tortured by bird Pokemon, right?" he asked as he handed over the Pokemon's belt. Wes shrugged and threw the berry to the Puppy Pokemon next to him, who eagerly devoured the indigo-hued fruit. A question formed in his mind as he watched the girl place the belts around herself and her Pokemon partner, I wonder what Professor Holly was saying about me?

"S-so, how was your trip out with the guys?" he caught himself before asking his true question which caused him to stutter. He twitched with the glasses upon his nose nervously, hoping she didn't notice.

Jezebel couldn't help but smile. "It was amazing! Alan showed me this amazing Kalos inspired resturant," she told him.

"I'll tell you more later," she promised, dashing to the start of the course. She made sure she and Ammon were suited up before giving Holly a thumbs up and waiting for her signal, unsure if she was being timed or something.

The professor waved for Jez to begin the course after letting her know that she would have the last run of the day, and he birds had begun chirping in the trees banking on another easy meal.

Making sure Ammon was safe and snug on her shoulder, Jezebel began climbing the net. She climbed quickly, confident that the rest of the course would be easy; she had the perfect counter for birds on her shoulder. Even if that Swellow's wing attack was worrisome...

Pulling herself onto the wooden platform, Jezebel pondered the rope bridge. "You need to go inside your shell now, Ammon," she told him as she began walking toward the bridge. Ammon did as told, keeping ont a couple tentacles out to hang on to his trainer.

Amazing, huh. Wish I'd gone. he thought with a frown as the trainer ran to the front of the course. Wes looked down at his partners who all were tussling in the dirt. He chuckled at the scene, which made them stop, abruptly. Dratini slithered up his leg while Growlithe and Shieldon stared expectantly at him. You guys thinking what I'm thinking? This is the last run after all. he said through their mind link. An uproar of agreement came from the team and Growlithe dashed into the forest to search for a new partner.

"Wait, where are you going! We have to stick together!" he called after the Puppy Pokemon who skidded to a halt, sat, and turned his head to look eagerly at it's trainer. A grin spread across Wes' face and he sighed,

"Alright, I guess we'll be going that way. Let's go find ourselves a new teammate!"

The Chirping insensified as Jezz reached the starting platform, the wild Pokémon eyes the berries hungrily as they waited for her to move onto the bridge.

When she was sure Ammon was steady, Jezebel took off at a run for the bridge. She kept her eyes on the floor, making sure she didn't miss a step. Catching her rhythm, she started watching the trees more, just waiting for the bird pokemon to make their move. She tried to keep going as quickly as possible. "Can't slow down; they're already faster than me. I can't give them another advantage," she silently told herself.

Just as it had done with Wes's run the Swellow rallied the other birds and sent them into a frenzy. Attacking from all sides and causing the bridge to sway from the beating of powerful little wings.

Jezebel kept going, not bothering to defend her berry. She took the brunt of the pecks, scratches, and attacks. Some hit Ammon as well but the rock type didn't feel it or, if he did, it wasn't enough for him to acknowledge. His berry stayed safe with him inside his shell.

"Good job, buddy," she said before making a leap for the end of the bridge. She landed harshly, landing on her side; her back screamed in pain. "Dammit," she thought. "I forgot to take more medicine!" She struggled to stand and went over to wear Ammon had skidded. Not having heard Jezebel cry out, Ammon stayed inside his shell, curled inside tighter in fact. Picking her partner back up and cradling him to her chest, Jezebel dashed as fast as she could toward the end of the course.

The moment Wes took a step into the denser part of the Safari Zone, a lingering feeling of forgetting something hung in his mind. He felt his pockets to make sure he had the PDA, ran his fingers along the capsules on the holder, and touched his glasses with a finger. What am I forgetting? he thought in confusion. Suddenly, a thought burst into his mind that he shouted aloud to the group,

"I don't have Pokeballs!" He gave a yell of hopelessness as his partners turned to face him. . A string of curses escaped from his lips as he stomped into the ground harshly. Their eyes were stricken with confusion and loss as they trudged back to their trainer. A light smile traced his lips and he crouched next to the sad trio of creatures.

"That's alright. We can head to the School Store and grab some and then come back out here tomorrow, okay?" he said with a soothing voice. The Pokemon nodded, still depressed that their trainer, who was supposed to be the one with the Pokeballs, didn't have any.

"Anyways, Alan's party is tonight and we shouldn't be late for that. Let's head back to the dorm and see what's going on." The group walked back the way they had come under the wooden structures of the hanging courses.

"Ammon, get ready for an assisted rollout!" she said as she saw the Swellow coming. She put the pokemon down and ran to the other end of the platform before running back, gaining as much speed as possible. Ammon slid out a couple tentacles while she picked up speed, getting a very slow rollout started by pushing himself along with the two tentacles.

Giving it all she had, Jezebel kicked the armored pokemon into speed. The added speed had the rock type hurtling along, the kicking not having hurt the small pokemon any. Jezebel, on the other hand, was jumping up and down while clutching the foot she used to help Ammon's rollout get started. Ammon followed the sound of the whistling wind and hit the flying types lower chest.

The rocky type attack cut through the cloud of Taillow like butter before hitting its mark, knocking the Large Swellow off of the tree stand and onto the forest floor.

Below the professor can be heard cheering and laughing while you move to the final post of the course
"Now that's how you end a class!" The professor said as she helped Jez off the final rungs of the ladder
"That's it for today Kiddies!! I'll see you all back here same time tomorrow!"
