Ask to Join GYM Leader Academy (GLA)

The two quieter kids were sitting when they were approached by a classmate whose name they didn't know. Seth, not the friendliest of types, looked to Mari to see what she wanted. With a shrug, she picked up her plate. Following Mari, Seth grabbed his food and the two walked over to the table where Azumi and Maker sat.

"I'm Seth, this is Mari," Seth introduced the two as they sat down, "thanks for inviting us to eat."

"It's nice to meet you all. I'm Azumi Towers and this is my twin Maker." Azumi said to the new students joining them. "This is Nana." She pointed at the Ralts eating a cookie. "And that is Eve." She signaled by Maker's feet, where the Eevee was curled up napping. "I hope you guys make it to our study group tonight."
Maker yawned and stretched as she bit her slice of pizza, leaving a long string of cheese. She quickly ate it up and looked at the new arrivals. "We should bring some potato chips and soda. Not everyone likes cookies."
Azumi looked worried. "That sounds more like a party."
Maker shook her head. "Nope. Study session, I promise." She smiled as she took another bite.
"Okay, so what types do you all have? I'm ice and maker is fire." Azumi asked the others.

Hunter opened his bag and took out a small lunchboxx, containing a hamburger and an apple. It also contained some food for Monferno, however the other Pokémon would have to wait since he didn't have enough food for them all. He walked over to an empty table and took a seat, eating his food silent. As usual, Monferno ate his food really fast, and when he was done he wanted more. Monferno was very clever, just like Hunter, and Hunter knew that Monferno could handle himself and knew what he could/couldn't eat, so Hunter gave Monferno some money, and just like that, Monferno was gone. When he returned he had three Poképuffs with him, and it was obvious that he wanted the others to eat aswell.
"They can get their food later, however, it was still nice Monferno," Hunter said, as he kept on chewing on his burger.

As Seth and Mari approached Alex shifted over in his seat to allow for the others to sit down.
"Hi there, I'm Alex." He said to the new people as he held out his hand.

Ruby on the other hand didn't acknowledge the other freshman instead she placed earphones into her ears to drown out the noise. Although Ruby is a social person she likes quite while eating and she wondered to herself why she chose to sit with Azumi and Maker instead of by herself. She assumed it was just rabbit as her friends back home new she hated being disturbed when eating and were similar intuit to her. Thinking of her friends made Ruby think of her life back home, about Maylene, her mentor, he teacher, her friends.

Renz wrapped up his lunch and his article. He went back over it to check for errors, and thought it would make a good essay. Maybe he would do more later if he had time after his other assignments. He set it down and pulled out his Pokéballs in order to get his Pokémon some food before it was time for the next class. If anyone happened to glance at the opened page, it looked like:

The other pages of the assignment were beneath. Renz wasn’t paying any attention to it, though, as he let out his team and got ready to feed them. A slight wind blew the top page of the notebook and revealed the other side of the first page, plus the third and final one:

Pearl got nervous when he said he needed her full team due to Draco, but hid it the best she could, which wasn't well. "I'm Pearl Rivera, a water-type first year. My Pokemon are Aqua the Eevee, which will evolve into a Vaporeon in time, Derp Lord the Wooper, cousin named him." She took a deep sigh to calm herself. "And Draco the Magikarp. Please don't laugh." It was clear she was self conscious about her team, after all, she was pretty sure that she had the weakest team within her class. Her current 'ace' wasn't even her type currently!

Dai Lin worked peacefully next to Renz, slightly surprised. She honestly expected him to try and talk to her again, like everyone else who put in a futile effort to become her friend. After a bit, she glanced at Renz's work when he was completed. As the wind blew the pages along, a small smile crept onto her face before abruptly disappearing. "Looks good," she said as she refocused on her own work.

Ashley had been sitting when Magikarp flopped away, causing Murkrow to squawk, which gave Ashley an alert that her future Gyarados was currently flopping away.

"Braviary, To the skies, let's find Magikarp, Murkrow, look low as well." Ashley called to her Pokemon as she started her search.

Magikarp had been flopping towards some sort of water, and continued doing so, eventually being spotted by Braviary.

Renz didn't hear Dai Lin's comment since he was busy feeding his Pokemon. If he had, he might have thought he was making progress on becoming friends with the quiet Psychic type specialist. As it was, he hadn't heard, and had no idea if his strategy of just being there in silence had worked at all. Once all his Pokemon were done eating he returned them to their Pokeballs and returned to his seat. He noticed that the wind had flipped the pages, and he flipped back until he found an open section where he could start jotting down ideas for the Contests Class assignment. 'The style of a gym leader...' He tapped his pencil on the notebook as he thought, a fairly common motion for him when he was trying to decide what to write next.

Jackie and her team ate in silence, except for a brief moment when one of Rift's heads decided to eat some of Pluck's food. A simple "Hey." from Jackie put a stop to that, and soon they had all finished. If Jackie had been a talkative girl she might have commented on the food, but no words were forthcoming at that point.

Mark grinned. "Wow your team has a great future ahead! We gotta train really hard so you can get that Magikarp going. I actually had one, you can meet him tomorrow. I got your info, see you after class."

The bell rang, announcing the end of lunch and for classes to continue. The twins made their way over to the next class, after cleaning their eating area. Nana had finally fallen asleep in Azumi's bag while Eve skipped joyfully next to Maker. As they arrived to their next class their teacher was already there. She was about in her 20's, wearing black outlined seeing glasses, blonde hair in a bundle, white dress shirt and black pants. She was sitting on her desk while a Minum and a Plusle sat by the window, looking outside. The teacher looked at the new arrivals and signaled for them to take a sit. The twins obeyed, Azumi taking her usual spot and Maker getting a window sit.

Renz had barely started writing when he heard the bell. He closed his notebook and tucked it into his bag. He got up, gave a smile to Dai Lin, and walked to his next class. A minute and a half later when he entered he gave a glance at the teacher and then went to the seat that was placed in the same spot as he had sat in his other classes. He liked having a spot that was ‘his’. He realized once he sat down that he had forgotten to pick a club. ‘Man... I don’t really know what I’d want to join, anyways, but...’

Jackie made her way to the classroom and plunked down in a seat again. Rift and Pluck we’re back in their Pokéballs again, and Shred, still outside her Pokéball, had begun to quietly scratch at the leg of the chair. Whether she was sharpening her claws or doing something else was uncertain. Either way, Jackie didn’t seem to notice that anything was going on beneath her. She was staring idly at the teacher, waiting for class to begin.

Ashley had been chasing her Magikarp and finally caught up to him when the bell rang. She then ran across to the classroom, entering to find one male and at least three females, taking a seat between The male and the female with the Eevee, looking between them and Braviary, who decided to squawk.

"Braviary, pipe down!" Ashley told her Pokemon, "You might still be energized from chasing Magikarp around.".

Braviary gave a small nod and perched on the side of her desk.

Ruby wasn't listening when the bell rang and Alex had to nudge her back to reality.
"Next class is starting." He said to the dismay of Ruby. Reluctantly they made their way to the next lesson. Alex took out his timetable to see which class was next.
"Breeding class? Why do we need to learn about breeding?" Alex asked no-one in particular.
"It makes even less sense than performing, we're gym leaders, all we need to know is battling." Ruby replied in a voice that made Alex think she didn't care.
"How did you even make it into GLA?" Alex asked but never received a reply. Once the duo had arrived to their next class they took seats seperate to each other, Alex at the front near the exit and Ruby way up the back. Ruby propped her feet up onto the table to show that she didn't give a shit about breeding. Alex stared at a plusle and minun apparently intrigued by something outside.

Daniel sighed as he heard the bell, his lunch break seemed to have went by faster than he had hoped. "Alright guys, finish up what you're eating so we don't get complained at for being late." Daniel said to his Pokemon who surprisingly finished their food before he did, this caused the Ghost type trainer to blink in surprise. "Well then..." Daniel said with a small smile as he got out his Poke balls and returned his trio to them, picked up his bag and made his way to the classroom. This time, Daniel decided to sit at whichever free desk was close to the door.

After the Pokemon and Adrianna devoured what was left of the mashed fruit, the bell had rung and it was time for another wonderful class! Adrianna returned every one to their balls, except Buneary of course who went back to the bag to fish out the schedule for Adrianna. "Beginner's Breeding? Oh jeez, we don't know anything about breeding. Well, not us-" Adrianna reached into her bag, a grin overpowering her face. She threw the ball, and out burst Mincinno, who climbed to Adrianna's left shoulder, ready for what was coming. "-but I think we have someone who does know a bit about that, ain't that right Mincinno? Alright, Let's get to it then". Adrianna began racing towards the next class, Buneary tagging behind and Mincinno gripping Adrianna shoulder's tightly, not fully confident that she won't faceplant into the ground.

Mincinno was Adrianna's mom's pokemon. Mincinno had helped raise Adrianna ever since she was a little girl. As a result, it's very knowledgeable about things in the cooking and nurturing categories, as its a very caring pokemon. It doesn't enjoy battling at all, however, and will only engage in it if it must protect those it cares about. Mincinno was given to Adrianna while she was packing to head off for Gym Leader Academy, as a parting gift from her mom. It's excited to be there for her, but will prefer to stay in its ball to avoid getting into too much trouble or witnessing too much ruckus.

The bell rang just as Hunter finished his hamburger. He stood up, picked up Monferno in his arms and started walking towards class, while he was wondering some things. "Why do we need to learn about breeding? What's so good with that, except for getting more, and possibly, stronger Pokémon," he said for himself. Monferno, as usual, was running around and being very annoying. Hunter was about to snap, so he took out Monferno's pokéball and returned him to his Pokéball. He wasn't going to have any Pokémon out at the moment, but Monferno would be able to come back out later. However, he would be very mad.

After about 20 grueling minutes of thinking, Vikal managed to write two starting sentences for his essay, before the bell rang. He remember it was beginner's breeding. Returning Schtocky and Voltug, he and Vigit went over to his next class.
He made it to class, taking note of the plusle and minun on the teacher's desk. Vigit gave a beep of greeting, before following behind Vikal.
Sitting once again near the back, Vikal sat down and sighed. Hopefully this class won't give him an essay too, or else he was going to make a book bonfire, and make s'mores with it.
He leaned over a pet Vigit, who turned his head every so often, analyzing everyone around.

Pearl smiled at Mark and quickly got some lunch for herself and her Pokemon before the bell rang, sitting alone. She felt slightly better about her team, but was still uneasy about it due to the fact she was already on the verge of being thrown out due to her less than average performance in the entry exam, battling portion. When the bell rang, she let out a sigh, return her Pokemon, and walked to her next class. Pearl glanced at her teacher as she walked in and sat down before working on her assignment as she waited for class to start.

Dai Lin cleaned up her spot once the bell rang, not caring she wasn't in a club yet. After all, her classwork came first. She got to class and sat down in the spot she kept sitting in, reading about the class and hoping they would actually do a lesson instead of a random question then a paper about it. To her, it was a waste of time. She came here to learn, not write papers about her favorite gym leader or her team. At least her roommate had motivation like she did instead of talking with the others.

"Alright everyone welcome settle down and pay attention." Ms. Goodwell said with a strict to as she got up and faced the class. "Breeding. I'm pretty sure you all know what that is, but there's a lot more then just hatching eggs. Now I'm sure you all keep asking yourselves, why this class?" She took a deep breath, looking a bit annoyed and continued. "You guys are future gym leaders, emphasis on the LEADER. Understand that you do not only battle and give out badges, you represent a community, you protect a city, everyone looks up to you and some look down on you. People expect a certain level and quality and that is exactly why you must be good at everything. That way you won't look like a fool when you get asked about certain subjects. So, you will learn to breed Pokemon, either for the young future trainers, for your gym or to help a farmer with their Milktank. If you can't understand this, leave now." She turned around and began writing on the board. "Now there are various types of Pokemon, not fire or electric, but breeding types. We will look deeper into each one, have an exam for each and then move on to pairing up the proper types for breeding in until 2."
As she spoke the Minum and Plusle would giggle and cheer on the students with their helping hand as their trainer began writing none stop on the board.

Azumi began taking notes on everything, her blue pen moved quickly. While her twin, Maker, leaned back on her seat and just watched the teacher write. Nana was still napping while Eve looked at the clock, as if waiting for class to end. As Ms. Goodwell spoke, time seemed to speed by some and slow down for others, until the bell finally interrupted her. "Time already? No homework, see you all tomorrow." She said as she sat down and smiled at her Minum and Plusle.

Maker stretched out and sighed. "This is taking forever! Just one more right? I need a snack." She walked out of the classroom, going over to the nearest vending machine and looking at the options.
Azumi stepped out with Nana in her arms. "That was really interesting, I'm going to really enjoy this class."

Renz got several impressions from Ms Goodwell. She certainly seemed like the strictest, or perhaps the term sharpest would be better, of the teachers so far. She had a point, though, and now taking this class made sense to him. He had watched as she wrote line after line on the board. He tried taking notes, writing down the 'breeding types' that were separate from regular Pokemon types, but he began to struggle a bit towards the middle. He knew he needed to learn this aspect of being a Gym Leader, but focusing wasn't as easy as it had been in the previous two classes. He was relieved when the end came and she told them that there was no homework. He blinked a few times and stretched without getting up, wrote a few last notes in his notebook, and left his seat. He was planning to go find his class before it started.

Jackie sat through the class, half interested but still appearing bored. She didn't take any notes, she just listened and waited for the bell to ring and the next class to begin. Then it would be over until tomorrow, except perhaps a little work on her essay if she felt like it.

Daniel watched as their annoyingly strict teacher entered the room, his face turned to a briefly vexed scowl before he did his best to pay attention to the teacher's explanation behind being a Gym Leader for the community, something he silently nodded with agreement; being a Gym Leader wasn't just about battling with a specific type after all. When she began to explain about breeding alongside several notes written on the board, Daniel did his best to keep up with her as he wrote down in his notebook, his mind slowly lost track of time as he wrote down as much as he could.

Daniel was caught off guard when the bell rang to notify the end of the lesson, so he quickly wrote down the sentence he was on and put his notebook away, he seemed comforted at the fact he wasn't given any homework and that he had one more lesson, perhaps tomorrow he might be able to see about joining a club, as he thought about the different options and how their motives and activities may differ from his own, he didn't realize that he began to silently mutter as he made his way to the next classroom. As he walked, a student or two looked in Daniel's direction, mildly confused by his mutters.

Ruby came into the class thinking breeding was unnecessary and would leave with completely different views. All she had thought until now had been that gym leaders and elite four members battled against trainers who earned badges but being a gym leader was much more than that. Alex was surprised as well but maybe a little less so. They struggled to write down as much as they could form the board and by the end of it Alex and Ruby were exhausted. Their hands cramped and their legs felt numb, once the bell finally rang they both felt relieved at an escape.
"That was horrible." Alex said as they walked to their next class.
"We have to do that an hour five days a week? I'm having second thoughts about being here." Ruby replied. "Never mind, that's a stupid thought." After that the two walked in silence until Alex spoke up.
"So where are you from?" He asked.
"Sinnoh, you?"
"Hoenn but I lived in Alola for a while." The two continued asking questions about each other as they approached their next class.
"Here we go. Last lesson of the day." Alex smiled as they stepped into their last lesson.

Once Adrianna reached the classroom, she glanced around and noticed everyone had their notebooks out. Oh right, we're not actually breeding. Adrianna reached for her Pokeball, and a disappointed Mincinno returned in a bright streak of light. Adrianna plopped down in a seat near the front and pulled out the same notebook she used for battling. She and Buneary looked towards the front, paying close attention to their teacher. She seemed a lot more reserved and serious, which made sense, as most mothers were like that as well. Buneary took note of the plusle and minun, who giggled away from Ms. Goodwell, almost like children. While she noticed most where either bored, uninterested, or just simply taking notes, Adrianna actually quite enjoyed the stricter way of teaching, as it's the way more resembling the way she had been raised, and the way she was accustomed to. Adrianna took as many notes as possible and paid close attention for once, until the end of class.
