“Squritle use rapid spin, but in the reversed direction” Squritle nodded and as if he was reading Rays mind he shot water from his mouth forming a O-shaped barrier around, picking up the stones and reversing the wind direction of the tornados by pushing himself with his water gun “hmmmm wonder if I should catch some Pokémon first” she said looking through her bag, not paying attention to her opponent.

Kiri got off the boat with his luggage, he didn’t interact with everyone because of the craziness and the first thing he saw was the Gible battling Squritle “ah that’s bad, Squritle is a water type and Gible is a ground type, so she’s at a bit of a disadvantage” he said looking through his Pokédex “anyway, I should catch some Pokémon first” he said putting the Pokédex back and walking into the forest and stopped half-way “wait a minute, they both have a field advantages!? This could go either way.....” he said and turned back on his path “wonder if there are any good dragon Pokémon here.”

"HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME!"

Madison stomped her foot furiously when Ray was looking through her bag and kicked up some sand. How dare she look away. How dare she! As if she wasn't worth the time! She'd make her pay for that!

"This is what happens when you take your eyes off your opponent!" Madison raged. Then her expression turned serious. "Gible, let's end this and put Squirtle in a tomb..."

The dragon stomped as hard as her trainer, collapsing the ground ahead and causing a twenty-foot radius of sand to sink around the Squirtle. The blue Pokémon was at its center, the very bottom of a cone-shaped depression in the ground whose walls were continuously flowing sands. The trapped turtle could spin all it wanted, but the sinking waves would pull it back down and flush it like a toilet. Squirtle was fighting what was essentially an unending mudslide, Gible's Sand Tomb. Spraying the collapsing ground with water would make it worse and risk turning it into thick, slushy quicksand.

"Gible, use Dragon Claw and finish it!"

The dragon jumped into the air and spun, prepared to crash down on Squirtle with a full-force Dragon Claw and hit it like a drill.

Ray turned around seeing her Squritle caught in quicksand “I like this idea, if you were facing any other trainer that would have worked” Squritle looked up at the sky as if he was sand bathing “ok Squritle, use Aqua jet!” She said as Squritle coated himself in water, the water pushing down on the sand making the area around it dampen down into a ring like hole and Squritle flew into the sky spinning and at Gible “so which would look good on me-“ she paused and looked out at the sea, thought she was seeing a water Pokémon.

She was still ignoring her. :@

Madison had thought Ray was all right, but the blatant disrespect she showed during this battle was changing that. After Gible destroyed her Squirtle, maybe she'd give her a piece of her mind. It made sense that Aqua Jet was able to scale the collapsing sands, because that attack was fast and could outspeed their downward flow. But any slower Water-type move would probably make them slushier and harder to get out of.

Squirtle and Gible were both spinning at each other, but the former was flying up and the latter was flying down. With gravity on their side, Madison was confident that this Dragon Claw would end the battle as soon as it connected, as she'd planned. Besides, Squirtle may have outpaced the flowing sands, but they probably slowed its Aqua Jet considerably in the process. Taking off into the sky with the sand pushing back against you was like accelerating a plane with a giant treadmill for a runway. So Madison wasn't worried. Just pissed that Ray couldn't care less about her.

"My dear Gible, you have more speed behind you! Keep going!"

Gible continued spinning and met Squirtle in the air, her Dragon Claw colliding with its head.

"Send it flying back down to the ground. Faint it right now. Then I've got something to tell Ray."

Ray wasn’t really ignoring her.

Ray didn’t turn around because she didn’t want to lose the Pokémon “Squritle let’s go, use water gun” Squritle used water gun and shot the water toward Gible and when he was just about to hit the ground he looked straight a head which shot him towards the sea.

“Ok Squritle now, in the water and use water spout” Squritle stopped his water gun dropping into the sea, a few seconds later a huge wave from all directions came out, Ray diving into the water so she would avoid getting washed up.

When it washed up, a corpish was on the shore looking dazed but still a bit weary “ok pokeball let’s go” she said throwing out a pokeball at corpish the ball shaking 3 times and gave one final nudge “alright I caught my first pokemon here on this Region” she said grabbing the pokeball and looking back at Madison “you had falling speed but Aqua jet is a quick move, it’s speed would be equal to fall speed it was fun fighting you but I’m gonna go check the region more and I wasn’t ignoring you if I was I would be in trouble and my Squritle would be fainted, let’s battle again sometime” and walked off into the forest with her bag.

Kiri walked into the forest looking for some more Pokémon “man this region is a big place, this might take a while....” a tussle came from the trees and a Pokémon was standing on top of a tree looking down at kiri “so you want to have a race........ok let’s see what you can do” really he knew this was a test to see if he was a worthy trainer.

He climbed onto a tree and waiting for the mark, listening to Wind and then both Kiri and the mysterious Pokémon ran across through the trees in a straight line and the mysterious Pokémon, after awhile, tripped on one of the trees and fell “looks like I win this one” but he was exhausted.

The mysterious Pokémon liked the trainers spite and additude and said a cry, kiri knowing that it meant he wanted to join his team, so he raised out a pokeball and the Pokémon went inside the 3 clicks and bang the Pokémon was caught. Kiri than grabbed his stuff and walked off back into the path.

"Um-" :@

"But-"

"Ah-!"

Madison was about to fire off on Ray but the girl gave her a quick explanation. Actually it was more like she breathed it out... no periods between her sentences. "Zack Steel" had the exact same problem: not pausing where needed while speaking, like he was regurgitating his words all at once. Were Ray and Zack from the same country or something where everybody spoke weird? Or was Ray talking so fast because the battle pumped her up?

Madison had no idea what to say anymore after the girl denied that she was ignoring her. She didn't have time to debate who won or who lost, whose Pokémon was faster. She was sure that the Aqua Jet had lost some of its speed fighting the slippery slope, but it didn't matter now. Ray was leaving.

"WAIT! D-don't go!" Madison couldn't be alone. She needed attention, and she wouldn't get it if she was all by herself. "Ray, I'M coming with you! Got it?"

She marched into the forest and caught up to the girl, her dripping-wet Gible behind her.

Lisa walked behind the boys as they took their first steps into the woods. There was no trail and her feet sunk ankle-deep in the moist, decaying foliage. Inkay, still not quite 100%, sat on her head looking like a glow-in-the-dark beanie. His eyes were tired, resting half open. She took off her sunglasses and let her own eyes adjust to the relative darkness. Everything was cast in a greenish light, pokemon could be heard chirping and rustling but none were in plain view. She took a moment to gain her bearings, knowing how easy it was to get lost in a dense forest. Humming happliy, she kept her eyes peeled, determined to catch her first pokemon in this new region. "Wonder what type of pokemon we'll see first," she pondered aloud, trying for some friendly conversation.

"We're about to find out." Sterling said with a smile at Lisa and Collax, they may not have answered his question about the flute but that didn't bother him; he was too excited about all the Pokémon he would find. He put his flute away and looked around to see Pokémon all over the woods. One that definitely peaked is interest was a Buneary who was practicing her punches on a nearby tree. When the latter noticed the group, she gave them a friendly wave which Axew quickly responded by jumping off of his trainer's shoulder and walking up to her, the two looked to be having a cheerful conversation. Sterling smiled at Axew "Made a new friend, buddy?" he said as he looked at Buneary "Hi, my name's Sterling, I'm Axew's trainer."

Ray turned her head when she heard Madison was coming with her. She thought that Madi was gonna go alone since she didn’t like anybody.

“Ok sure, I guess we can go together” she said slowing down so Madison could catch up to her, Squritle looked at the back of Madison to find Gible soaking wet which surprised Squritle because he didn’t think it would actually hit Gible.

Collax had already hiked deeper into the foliage, waiting for Lisa and Sterling, when the latter ran across a wild Buneary who seemed to be training. Barkley floated over to join Axew, happily greeting the rabbit Pokémon. Collax, meanwhile, strode back to them, and was currently hanging by one hand from one of the thick-trucked tree branches. He seemed not only completely comfortable in the thick jungle, but also completely at home in it as he climbed casually through the untamed wilderness and endless green.
“Well ain’t that one a cutie. Well now, what’s this ‘un doin’ out here all in its own?” He asked, mostly to Sterling, but to Barkley as well, who was joining in the conversation alongside Axew.

Sterling crouched down as he talked to Buneary before he turned his head to Collax and was almost surprised at where he was standing... or hanging... but who could blame him when surrounded by the beauty of nature in all it's glory? "Obviously training hard for something, I dunno what it is, but I can already see the pride in her spirit, and I like it." Buneary hopped happily at Sterling's words as well as the friendly company she was receiving from both the Pokémon and the trainers. "I might consider catching her." Sterling added as he gave Buneary a pet on the head.

When Lisa saw Buneary, she was amazed that the little pokemon showed no fear towards strangers. It was a good sign that, so far, no one had mistreated pokemon in this area. Inkay was being oddly shy and didn't move from her head.
Lisa didn't speak but decided to try and capture the moment with a sketch, pulling out her notepad and a pencil. The Buneary seemed delighted to have an audience and to show off her powerful kicks. The tree she'd been practicing on looked worn from many well placed hits. Lisa worked quickly, rough sketching the motions of the kicks landing on the tree.

One particular sweep shook the tree so hard, something fell from the high branches...Something buzzing angrily.

Collax had pulled himself up onto the branch he was dangling from a moment prior, watching as Lisa quick-sketched the Buneary as it delightfully continued to perform its attacks on the tree. Barkley, despite being of little threat to a normal-type, had moved out of the way and flown back to Collax, whirling up Andy down the tree on which he sat. So far, this region wasn’t so bad.

And of course, right then and there, something happened. Right as Buneary smacked the tree, something had loosened from one of its higher boughs, and flopped to the ground not far away. What set off warnings in both Collax and Barkley’s thoughts was the recognizable sounds of buzzing, a distinct noise made by most big-type Pokémon. That wouldn’t be a good sign for Barkley if it happened to be bug-type, given the little Phantump was grass-type. Collax held on to his branch tightly, ready to leap off at any given moment, as Barkley flew about to his head and hung on tightly to his grey trilby.

Sterling, Axew and the wild Buneary looked up wen they heard the buzzing. "Buneary… maybe hitting the tree was a bad idea... we're about to have company..." He stepped back to make room for the buzzing threat whilst Axew assumed a battle stance, ready to defend his trainer and new friend.

Buneary stood next to Axew and began to assume her own battle stance. Sterling looked to the latter with a smile. "This might be a good opportunity to train lil' guy, but still, let us help." the wild Buneary nodded in response. Axew could already tell what the buzzing was coming from as Sterling trained him against a few in the past.

Inkay shuddered in terror, and completely extinguished his glow in an effort to hide. Lisa could feel his tentacled limbs squeezing her head. "Stay calm, Inkay," she whispered, trying to suppress her own fear. The hive that had fallen was broken in two, dripping sticky honey the color of light amber. A yellow cloud of tiny bug type pokemon was swarming and mourning over the damage. Lisa recognized them as Combee. From behind the cloud, a pair of glowing red slits glared at the Buneary. The fuzzy outline of a claw jabbed forward, commanding an Attack Order. Dozens of Combee dove toward Axew and Buneary.

Brandon’s Chimchar slammed into the Combee swarm with Flame Wheel. “Chim!” he called out.

Brandon leapt out of the tree behind the group. “Seriously? We’ve been here for 5 minutes and we’re already being attacked,” he said. “Chimchar, Protect!”

His Chimchar used the move and a force field appeared in front of the group. “Now’s the time to atta-“

Chimchar was suddenly flung backwards by a lightning-fast attack, One Brandon recognized as Wild Charge. A Blitzle had charged in to challenge the trainers. “Are you kidding me?” Brandon said. “What is up with these hostile Pokémon? Chimchar, Dig!”

Chimchar dug underground and went underneath the Blitzle before coming up and using a combination of Dig and Flame Wheel to hit the Blitzle before slamming it to the floor. “Leave this one to us, you guys take on that Combee swarm!”

Collax smiled, peering up at Barkley. The Phantump stared him back in the eye and smirked, already knowing exactly what Collax was thinking. Combee have a leader. A queen. A Vespiquen. The queenly bugger wouldn't function as orderly without her giving such straightforward commands. Why not remedy that problem?

Collax stood up on his branch, surveying the incoming horde of Combee. As they would mostly focus on the ones closest to them, Sterling and Lisa, as they were on the ground, Collax and Barkley both knew the exactly time of when to strike. Now. And with the other trainer, named Brandon, occupying the Blitzle, they needed to take full advantage of their opportunity.

He didn't even say anything, he simply pointed into the air and Barkley floated up above him, where he was pointing. A split second later, he threw his finger forward into the mob of bees, singling out their leader. All he said was:
"Now!"

And Barkley let loose a Confuse Ray, straight through the mob of Combee, spiraling directly at the Vespiquen. Those Combee are going to have a wonderful time following the incoherent orders of a confused queen.

Chimchar's firey attack came ostensibly out of nowhere, followed by the equally sudden appearance of a dark haired boy. Lisa recognized him from the ship, but couldn't remember his name. Dozens of little Combee fell to the ground, their wings singed and bodies smoking. It was an emotionally conflicting scene. Lisa was afraid for her pokemon, but hated to leave such a devastating impact on the native pokemon. The trainer barely had enough time to take it in before a horizontal shot of lightning came from behind the trees; a charging Blitzle. The dark haired boy and his Chimchar were now focused on the electric type.

From above in the trees, Collax and Barkley had launched a confusion attack on the queen. It was time to join the battle. "Inkay, we might have the type disadvantage," Lisa asserted, pulling her partner off her head, "but we've got allies and we need to do our part. Let's take this swarm down without dealing unnecessary damage!" She stared into Inkay's eyes reassuringly and after a breif moment he nodded, knowing what had to be done.

Inkay took his place in line by Axew and Buneary and focused on a small group of Combee, momentarily separated from the swarm. His gaze was intense, eyes glowing and swirling. At first it looked as though nothing was happening, but before the Combee got too close they started dropping like Cutiefly. "Wait to go Inkay!" Lisa beamed. This was the first time Inkay had successfully used his Hypnosis attack. It wasn't powerful enough to take down the whole swarm, but if he focused on little bits at a time the sleeping spell was 100% effective.

Sterling looked around at everyone and smiled at how quickly the battle became so intense. "Can't let them have all the fun now, can we?" Axew looked back with a smile whilst Buneary dashed toward Vespiquen with a lightning fast Quick Attack. "Alright Axew, let's dethrone that queen, use Dual Chop!"

Axew lunged himself forward at a rapid pace as his tusks began to glow once more. Once in range, he used a powerful pair of slashes on Vespiquen and successfully knocked the latter back slightly. The battle must have paid off for Axew because his Dual Chop seemed slightly stronger than before. Buneary then hopped from Combee to Combee and used Pound on Vespiquen, afterward she jumped back to where Axew and Sterling were, ready for the next attack.

The Blitzle got up and sped off. Chimchar prepared to run after it, but his trainer reminded him of the Combee problem. “You know what to do,” he said.

Chimchar used Swagger on the group of Combee, confusing them along with their queen, so that even if she gave a correct order, they would not be able to follow it. “Now’s our chance to get out of here, if any of you wanna cause minimal damage to them,” he said, knowing what Lisa was thinking. He ran through the forest, deeper and deeper until he reached a jungle area. That was when he realized that there were different biomes on this island.

He started to sketch a map, the beach, leading to a forest, leading to a jungle. He wondered what else there would be, mountains, desert, tundra, who knows what? He came to explore, and he was getting his wish.

The confused Vespiquen flailed her arms, swatting at her own hoard and taking hard hits from both Axew and Buneary. After Blitzle had fled with lightning speed, the dark haired boy and his Chimchar ran deeper into the trees, right past the queen. In her anger, she focused on Chimchar's flaming tail, attempting a Pursuit attack. The first try, she missed and smacked into a tree, hurting herself in her confusion. Again she tried, again she missed and so on she went, pursuing the Chimchar to no avail. Soon the Vespiquen was deep into thick jungle and battered from having hit so many trees, she gave up and found a hollow to hide in and recover.

Back by the hive, most of the Combee were either burned or sleeping with a few stragglers launching confused attacks against Axew and Buneary. Lisa and Inkay made their way toward the mess of honey comb and inspected the damage. "It looks like they'll have to build a new hive," she said, "there's no saving this one...who likes honey?" Inkay was elated. Not only had he helped to battle the swarm, he conquered a fear and used a brand new move. He flew up to Collax and Barkley then down to Sterling Axew and Buneary collecting fist bumps.

Sterling smiled at their victory and looked at everyone. "Alright! That should be the last of them." He was unaware of a single Combee that zoomed toward Sterling in an attempt to attack. Axew noticed the latter and jumped on to Sterling's shoulder and then to the Combee. As he did he delivered a powerful Slash to the Combee and sent it flying back into a retreat. "Wow Axew, you learned Slash, that's awesome." He commended as Buneary did the same. Sterling looked down at the latter with a smile. "You know, I like you, Buneary. Wanna join me and Axew in our quest to get stronger?"

Buneary bounced happily in response and Axew went over to join Buneary. "Awesome, hold still now." He requested as he got out a Poké ball and lightly threw it at Buneary who went into the ball in a flash of red. The ball shook once... twice... three times... then it gave a little ring for a successful capture. "Alright, I just caught a Buneary." Sterling said proudly as Axew cheered nearby at their newly caught team mate.

Collax leaped from his branch and landed with a thump. He grinned at Sterling as the Pokeball clicked shut. Barkley followed him down and was floating beside Axew, looking at the ball.
“Y’all caught your first Pokémon already, sweet!” Collax jabbed a thumb back in the direction of where Brandon went. “Now, ya think we should go catch up to wherever that guy went? The one with the Chimchar?”

Madison and Ray were polar opposites, one with red hair, dressing blue, and the other with blue hair, dressing red. Different personalities, too. Ray was cool-headed, Madison was hot-headed. So she didn't clash as much with her as she did with everyone else.

"Hmph, well it irritates me that there was no clear winner in our battle, but my dear Gible did receive a complimentary bath. So perhaps this wasn't a complete waste of time," she remarked when she and her wet Pokémon caught up to Ray.

A pampered girl like Madison wasn't used to the jungle, but she had full confidence that she deserved to be here more than anyone else. She lifted her dress, carefully avoiding the hanging vines and bulging roots. But somewhere along the way, she'd been so focused on her dress that she hadn't noticed that something had swiped her sun hat. Only when a cold drop of water landed directly on her head did she realize that it was missing.

"Where is my sun hat?! It was so expensive! Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but I'm on an uninhabited island and can't get a new one!!!" she panicked. It might just have gotten caught on the vines while she was ducking them, but Madison always assumed that someone was at fault and looked at Ray accusingly. "Ray! Did you take it?!"

She leaned in closer to the blue-haired girl, hands on her hips and annoyance on her face. But she backed off from Ray when she spotted the black-ribboned woven hat in the corner of her eye, on the ground far behind her.

"There it is!" a relieved Madison exclaimed.

When she approached it, however, the beige hat began to scurry away from her. She swiped at it but it dodged, rendering her attempts to get it off the ground futile.

"Come back here!" she yelled. Most people couldn't stand her and the feeling was mutual, but even her own hat wanted nothing to do with her! Actually, it wasn't as dramatic as all that. However intriguing this new region was, inanimate objects coming to life weren't part of the mystery.

The real culprit was nonetheless interesting in his own right, a Sandile. An uncommon sight in a jungle like this, the desert Pokémon had taken a liking to Madison's hat and was running off with it. But she wasn't having it.

"Ugh! Gible, teach this thieving croc a lesson! Twister!"

The winds blew the sun hat off the flat Pokémon's head and into the air, but they caused the vines to writhe as they swirled through the jungle. Madison was whipped by three of them as she ran to catch it.

"Ow! Get out of my way, you stupid vines!"

She was visibly irked, a mood exacerbated by the Sandile quickly recovering from the Twister and landing on its feet. The croc first stuck his tongue out and taunted Madison, then fully opened his mouth and jumped at Gible.

"Why don't you Crunch this?! Iron Head!"

The land shark slammed its steel-hard head into the croc's gaping mouth and charged ahead into a tree. Madison marched right up to Sandile, his back against the wood, and knocked it on the snout with a Pokéball.

"I will discipline you and teach you some manners! I won't let you run back to the wild after you tried to steal from me!" she spat, after an audible ping confirmed a successful capture. Less than pleased, Madison turned away from the tree and continued through the jungle with Ray, seething.

That was when they ran into Brandon, who was sketching a map.

"Oh, look who it is," she said unenthusiastically, "not that I even know who you are. At least you're mapping the island and doing something productive." Hadn't he gone into the forest before? Now they were all in the jungle. Even the highly-educated Madison was stumped as to why completely different biomes were so close together.

"Fine, you map. Hmm... and I will become Queen of the Island. You'll draw my territories in all their breadth!" she decided, pointing at Brandon. "I'll wear a crown so lovely that I'll have no more need for this sun hat."

"Congratulations, Sterling! Buneary is a great catch." Lisa sang, happy for her new friends success. "Collax, you think we could find him in there?" She asked, as she looked past him into the thickness of the jungle. It seemed odd that the trees changed so abruptly from coconut palms on the beach to a gnarled oak forest and then a jungle overgrown with vines.

Inkay tugged at her jacket and asked for some water by mimicking the motion of drinking out of his cupped tentacles. "Just a minute buddy, you're probably parched after all that excitement," she said, fetching a water canteen from her bag. "I know I'll need more water soon, hopefully there's a river or a spring in there somewhere." Inkay opened his beak and accepted a waterfall from the canteen.

Collax looked over at the lush, tangled green of the jungle and nodded.
"Ah, more than confident. It's only leaves, trees, and vines. I mean, if y'all aren't comfortable with it, I can head in there with Barkley and we can find 'im on our own." Barkley floated up to his shoulder and twirled around his head before sitting atop his grey trilby. "A little bit 'o trees never slowed me down. I dunno about you, though. And that girl with the swole ego don't seem to promising either." He snickered slightly. "I'd be willing to bet money she's gonna slow most of us down so she can trek through without messing up her clothing. Hah.." He turned to face the thick leaves of the jungle and marched right forward, his thick-soled boots crunching along the leaves. Although the swift changes in the biomes of the region did indeed interest him, he was more than happy with it as he hiked through the trees. This kind of land was he and Barkley's home. They grew up in forests, trained in them, fought in them... trees were as much a part of his soul as they were Barkley's. He was itching to delve into them.

Even where he was, he noticed the frustrated cries of Madison, the girl he hadn't met, but watched battling. He recognized her attitude and very self-centered treatment of others, and he wasn't particularly fond of it. Now, she sounded quite irritated, and he heard shuffles of very quick scuffle, then the familiar sound of a Pokeball. Madison must have run into a wild Pokemon.

Collax and Barkley hopped headlong into the thickened jungle, unconcerned with the leaves or vines. Barkley floated higher up and followed Collax, who was hopping over thick tree roots and shoving past large leaves. He trekked, largely unhindered, until he recognized the sounds of scuttling. Insect scuttling.

He stopped, raising a hand to call Barkley down, who had also heard the sounds. When they both stopped, the culprit burst out from behind a thick bush, shrouded by a curtain of vines. It was small, purple, and had a very recognizable tail.

A Skorupi. A Pokemon that Collax had multiple run-ins with back at his home region. He wasn't super fond of it, but this one wasn't outright attacking him as a wild Pokemon usually would. It was standing there, looking him over, as though it had never once seen a human being before, or even a Phantump. Which was completely understandable, given they were both from another region. Collax and Barkley exchanged glances as the Skorupi stared them both down, not entirely sure what to think. Skorupi wasn't a jungle Pokemon. It was a desert inhabitant. What was one doing all the way out here? Was there a desert nearby? If so, how could that be possible? They weren't even half a mile into the continent yet. Jungle, he could understand. Oak forest, not so much, especially so close to the palm trees of the beach, but he could see it happen. But a desert? How could an arid biome like a desert be so close to the jungle? Did the Skorupi travel too far in one direction? Was it lost?

Both Collax and Barkley considered these options as the Skorupi tried to make up its mind about them. Barkley tilted his head towards the insect, pointing with his smaller branch. He had a concerned expression on his wooden face. Collax looked at the bug and understood. He knelt down, watching the insect carefully, which in turn took multiple steps back. It wasn't sure if Collax was attacking it or not. Instead, he held out a small, yellow object. A piece of a Pinap berry that he refused to eat. Barkley spoke up a bit, calling out to the Skorupi a few times, which grew notably less wary and approached, nabbing the berry slice and immediately retreating back a few meters. Thankfully, the Skorupi seemed to like the berry, unlike Collax and Barkley. The Phantump reached into Collax's bag and pulled out the rest of the Pinap berry, placing it on the ground in front of them. Skorupi approached, sniffing it and proceeding to dive into it. The little insect was notably hungry, as though it hadn't eaten in a decent while. Collax and Barkley smiled disarmingly.

Barkley floated back, giving the Skorupi its space. Collax also backed up slightly, holding up his hands to present the lack of weaponry.

"Well, ain't you an odd one." He said, looking the insect over as it ate. "Sittin' all the way out here from your home. I bet you ain't ever seen humans before, eh? Well, I tell you something, I ain't no danger to ya. I promise ya." The Skorupi proceeded with the berry, occasionally looking over at Collax to see if he was advancing. He wasn't. He was sitting, waiting for the others to catch up to him as the Skorupi continued to eat.

Sterling smiled at Lisa "Thanks, I can't wait to see how strong she'll become!" He said confidently as he looked at the Poké ball containing his recently caught partner and threw the latter upward to let her out. Buneary smiled up at her new Trainer and his Axew who went to happily dance with her.

As much as Sterling enjoyed seeing how happy his Pokémon were, he gestured them to stop and follow him as he followed Collax through the jungle. When he noticed the Skorupi up ahead, Axew and Buneary were about to assume a battle stance before Sterling stopped them. He had already caught a Pokémon and knew Collax seemed interested in the one up ahead. So Sterling took a step back and silently observed, Axew and Buneary stood down and did the same.

Before taking off to join the others, Lisa searched through her bag to find a special berry to plant. If she was going to be taking some honey she thought it best to leave something behind for the Combee. Inkay dug a small hole under the dappled sunshine for Lisa to plop in the berry, she had decided to leave a Lum berry. The trainer and her pokemon then turned to the jungle to catch up with their group. Upon finding them it looked like Collax had run into an interesting and out of place pokemon.

Collax and Barkley sat silently as Sterling and Lisa caught up to them. The Skorupi watched the new arrivals warily, but finished eating the Pinap berry in spite of the company. Collax slowly stood, and Barkley orbited him upwards, coming to rest on his trilby. Collax nodded at the Skorupi, who tilted its head in confusion, before lightly stepping away and back into the forest to look for the others.

As he tread through the undergrowth, he and Barkley noted the sounds of scuttling behind them. Neither Collax or Barkley needed to look to know the Skorupi was following them. It likely didn’t know what much better to do, and Collax was likely the first human to ever show it any kindness. From underneath his trilby, lowered over his eyes by Barkley sitting atop it, Collax grinned. He would be more than willing to let the Skorupi accompany him, but first, he’d give the insect it’s space.

Collax continued to push his way through the jungle, clearing a slight path through for the rest of those who followed him. He showed no concern for the filth of the leaves and dirt, and pushed carelessly through the low-hanging vines. Barkley simply hung on to his hat and presented no additional worry as the two of them trekked onward.

Eventually, Collax pushed aside a large, flat leaf to reveal both Brandon and Madison, the former of which was sketching out what seemed to be a map, and the latter was... doing nothing useful. Collax thumped down into the dirt behind them, raising a hand in greeting. His trench coat was lathered in small smudges of dirt, and his boots were caked with mud along the soles as he approached the both of them, Barkley still hanging on to his notably clean trilby hat.
“Oi. Ya two. Y’all were on the boat with us, weren’cha?”

Trudging through the rainforest was like trying to swim through a bowl of hot noodles. Humid, sticky air was trapped beneath the canopy and thick vines obscured the view in all directions. Lisa was glad Collax had cleared a small trail but was not so happy about who it led to. Although it was oddly satisfying to see her clothes in such a state, Lisa was apprehensive about how it might effect Madison's temper. Rather than wait around to be berrated, she decided to explore the immediate vicinity and busy herself with sketching the next pokemon she encountered. Inkay stayed hovering by Barkley, acting as a bright beacon so Lisa would easily be able to make it back.

She stepped over a few huge tree roots and brushed vines away from her face, occasionally looking back to make sure she could see Inkay's glow through all the vegetation. Pokemon weren't too hard to spot; Chatot perched on the few visible tree limbs above, tiny Cutiefly buzzing around, trails of Scatterbug climbing tree trunks. Lisa did a quick sketch of each one, careful not to disturb or aggravate them. It took her about 15 minutes then she turned and headed toward the glow behind the vines, no realizing a small hitchhiker had stowed in her bag.

Madison was still pointing in Brandon's face when, without warning, Collax thumped down behind her like an oaf. The impudence with which he addressed her consummated his vulgarity.

"Were we now? I should be asking you that, because I can't believe I would share a boat with someone so filthy... and one who talks like a drunken sailor," she replied uncomfortably, grimacing. Madison had been careful to lift her dress and avoid the roots, but her sun hat wasn't so lucky. Collax had saved his trilby but was dirty all over, the exact opposite.

"Ugh, no wonder your Phantump is clinging to that hat of yours and avoiding the rest of your body like the plague. Nor is it any surprise that the Skorupi behind you-" Madison started to say, before she realized that this desert Pokémon in a jungle was indeed a surprise. But she retained her confidence and continued. "Nor is it any surprise that the only Pokémon who would walk beside you are vile Poison-types. But what are desert Pokémon doing in a jungle anyway?"

She sent out her Sandile. "Is there a desert nearby? Listen up, you thieving croc, if you live with nothing in a barren, empty space, that is no excuse to steal when the lush jungle is this close. Why, I don't know! There's a sandy beach, a forest, a jungle, and now there must be a desert up ahead."

"Unless, it's far far away and this Sandile is just a lost child, like the ones I was reading about in the news earlier," Madison mused when she finished scolding her Pokémon. "Come on, Ray. Let's find ourselves a spring instead, because I'm quite thirsty from walking around in this sweaty jungle."

Collax was slightly taken aback by Madison's instant outlash and complete disregard for manners or politeness. Part of him wanted to dash her across the face, but he held himself back. That obviously wasn't going to help. So, instead, he called upon a technique he picked up in his youth... and laughed.

"Yeah, you n' me both. I'm surprised you didn't just leap off halfway through the boat ride here with how much I disgust you t' look at! Hee! Though, I'dn't be complaining if you did.. a lot less drag for us t' hold on to." He rubbed his forehead with his sleeve, Barkley circling down to his waist to cling to his mucky coat. "You know, I was wondering the same thing about the Skorupi myself, but I'm beginning to think he's only here to bug you more than me. Poison-types sure are fun to deal with, eh? Yeah, I know." He looked down at her dress, noting how careful Madison had been to try and keep it clean. Part of him wanted so badly to kick some mud up in it to give her a what-for, but that would be nothing but immature. Albeit, Madison wasn't presenting her own maturity very well. Oh well. If she wouldn't be the bigger person, Collax would. He smiled.

"Shame you brought such a uselessly pricey dress to explore an uninhabited region. What did you expect to see around here, paved roads leading to every other empty wild uninhabited part of the region? Tch." He shook his head. "You should have been prepared to get dirty in the first place. I mean, who's guess was it there would be a jungle here, but hey, I'm not complaining. I should tell ya, though. There prolly ain't no spring 'round here for a while. No trace of water in the air anywhere, unless it's saltwater. If y'all wanna down some o' that, I ain't gonna stop ya. Oi, Barkley. Get the canteen, please?"

Barkley twirled over to Collax's pack, a small brown bag of rough patchwork that was almost empty with how little he packed. The Phantump dug inside and pulled out a decently-sized water bladder, presenting the sloshing bag to Collax, who proceeded to take a hefty swig from it before handing it back to Barkley to do the same. Neither of them seemed otherwise even hardly fazed by the sweltering warmth of the lush biome, and looked on at Madison in her very inconvenient clothing situation. While she was uncomfortable and bickering, Collax tried his best to seem perfectly at home and more than above the situation.

Barkley, meanwhile, noticed the Skorupi, still just beyond the foliage. He approached the insect, who was significantly less wary of the Phantump, and presented the water bladder to it. The Skorupi inspected it for a moment before drinking from it as well, wiping its mouth gratefully after it finished. The insect had been both hungry and thirsty as it wandered the jungle, but with the presented kindness of both Collax and Phantump, it was beginning to feel comfortable again.

As Lisa reappeared from behind a curtain of vines, Inaky blinked gleefully, relieved she returned. She smiled back to him and jumped down from the top of a mossy fallen tree trunk, expecting to land safely on the soft earth. Her feet sunk into the ground, but rather than stop at a few inches deep she kept falling and disappeared underground. Inkay threw his tentacles up in shocked surprise and zoomed down the hole after her.

"I'm good," said Lisa, her voice muffled and hollow from the circumstances. Inkay hugged his trainer and wouldn't let go, his light danced on the black, muddy walls revealing their tube-like curvature. "Hey guys!" Lisa shouted, "this is a lava tube!"

Collax and Barkley were standing off just a few yards from where Lisa disappeared when he heard her call out from her underground discovery. They both turned and hopped over to the hole in the ground, keeping veritable distance to avoid accidentally causing a cave-in. Barkley poked his head over the hole, blocking the sunbeams with his asymmetrical silhouette, while Collax looked around the surrounding jungle.
"Lisa? Are you alright? There ain't anything around." he called, Barkley waving for their attention from the hole Lisa fell through.

Brandon rolled his eyes as Madison came and went. He simply ignored the groups and went off on his own, journeying further into the lush jungle. He kept walking until he heard... a voice?

He ducked behind a tree. “This place was supposed to be empty,” he muttered to himself. He listened to the two voices talking. They seemed to be arguing.

Sarah gripped her sketchbook as she turdged through the forest. She bit her tongue as she spotted groups of other people. She groaned and glared. She spotted one behind a tree and stared at him through narrowed eyes.

She liked his stance so she began to sketch him and his face. She sat in the grass and drew in swift, quick motions.

When she finished she held up her sketch and saw the resemblances and the bad things about it.

Lisa looked up and down the tube, the exit wasn't too far away. There was a light at the end of the tunnel that seemed to lead away from the direction of the beach. "I'm good, Collax, I see an exit," she said, her voice echoing, "Want to come check it out?"
With Inkay firmly attached to her head, not letting go any time soon, she walked towards the light. As she grew closer she could feel hot, dry air coming from beyond the tunnel. In a few minutes she reached the exit and found herself looking out over a desert. That explains those desert pokemon, she thought to herself. Her mouth went dry and she regretted not filtering more ocean water while she was back on the beach. The desert looked uninviting, Lisa wasn't sure if she should continue on or go back, looking over her shoulder to see if anyone had followed.

Sterling looked down at the hole Lisa fell down. "I'm gonna come down then." He said as he took a running start and front flipped into the hole. Buneary jumped exactly like Sterling did while Axew took a moment before reluctantly jumping down after them only to be caught by Sterling. "Nice one guys, let's go and see what Lisa found." He said as he began to walk in the direction Lisa went and was awed at the desert ahead of them. "I'm glad I have all that water packed with me. Thanks for the recommendation mom..." He thought as he looked at Lisa. "So, what kind of Pokémon would you hope we find here?" He asked as he put his hands in his pockets.

Barkley scrambled away from the hole as Sterling gracefully flipped his way in, Collax grinning as he watched. He waved at Barkley to come back to him as he, too, took a leap down into the hole where both Lisa and Sterling disappeared into. They landed with a thud in the dark, black tube.

Collax fished around in his bag for a moment before he saw where both of the others had walked off too. Barkley in tow, Collax jogged down the tunnel until he reached the desert opening that both Lisa and Sterling were staring out to.
"Woah Nelly, what the hell? A desert right next to a jungle, and a beach? What's up with this region?" He proclaimed in wonder, pulling a pair of sports shades from his bag and sticking them on his face. He removed a pair of aviators from the same bag and handed them to Barkley to put on his own head as they stared out at the daunting waves of sand.

Unbeknownst
to either of them, Skorupi had followed down the hole and scuttled up behind Collax, staring out at the desert. It wasn't as timid as it had been earlier, but it was far from willing to approach much closer. The desert, however, did not seem to intimidate it in the slightest.

Brandon saw the girl sketching him and motioned for her to duck out of sight. He continued to eavesdrop on the conversation.

“What do you expect me to do with them?”

“Just round them up. Then present the ultimatum.”

“And if they don’t choose to take the first path?”

“Eliminate them.”

“How do you want me to do that?”

“Use your imagination, Jax! It’s what I hired you for!”

His eyes widened when he heard the last few sentences. He knew they were talking about his group. He started to sneak off, but accidentally stepped on a twig. “Damn these old clichés,” he muttered quietly before grabbing a tree branch and hoisting himself up.

“Did you hear that?” one of the voices asked.

“Find the source of the noise. If it is one of them, get them.”

The first voice walked towards the tree Brandon was in, slicing at the foliage around him with a sword, looking to see if he hid the the thick undergrowth. Brandon smirked as he saw the other man walk away. He jumped down out of the tree, landing on the one called “Jax”. He knocked him to the floor and ended up on top of him, knocking him out cold. “Run,” he whispered to the girl before running off, back to where he saw the others, before tripping and falling into a hole. Despite landing hard, his fall made almost no noise at all. He saw Lisa, Collax, and Sterling staring off at the vast desert. He walked up behind them silently.

“We meet again, I see,” he said right into Sterling’s ear.
