Griffin

Garchomp chopped the second burning log in half before Griffin quickly returned Heracross. He began to chase the group, with Garchomp and Arcanine close behind. He had also returned the confused Luxray. “Jax, backup. Now,” he said into the walkie. “They’re getting away. They had help from some creature. Must be something from that old pyramid.”

Collax led Madison forward, hopping over tree roots and winding through the trunks and leaves like it was second nature. Although he was caught up in the mad dash to escape, Madison's comment, both the compliment and the outcry did not go unnoticed. He didn't look back to respond; his focus was on getting them out and away from their attacker.

"Run now, complain later! I ain't about to get cornered in with those guys, not if they're the same ones that killed Lisa! And unless you plan on getting caught standing up straight like a traffic light in the jungle, you'd better get ready to take a dive in some plants!"

Collax new quite well that Madison would be abstinent as hell to hiding in the jungle, much less in mud or dirt. Knowing what he did of her thus far, he had a feeling she'd rather risk being found than she would her dress getting mucky. Collax didn't care, at first, as his goal was survival by whatever means necessary. He then recalled the promise he made, that he wouldn't abandon her. He gave Madison his word that he wouldn't leave her side, or betray her. And as dumb as it felt to respect that in this time of crisis, his word was binding. Collax was not one to break his promises. If Madison was in any way caught, he wouldn't leave her behind or hide without her. He'd stay right where he was, between her and the enemy, as he promised.

Skorupi joined his trainer as they fled through the trees. Kicking up another Sand Attack now would only fail to make it more obvious what direction they went in. So he gave the insect the command to anyway. When Skorupi put up another cloud of sand, Collax suddenly changed direction, veering heavily off course and diving as far away from the new sand cloud as he could in a 90 degree angle from the line he was previously running in. He hoped this simple, yet effective trick would help them here.

Meanwhile, between them and Griffin, the figure that assisted their escape made yet another action. From the thick, low-hanging foliage of the jungle came a sudden rush of flame. The fire encircled the figure, swirling rapidly, before rushing forward. The figure using Flame Wheel rolled past Griffin and his team, not targeting any of them, but flying past their front to cut off their chasing sprint, and missing them by mere feet. As the Flame Wheel vanished as suddenly as it had appeared, another figure moved in the same direction it had come from. There were apparently two figures, and the other one had waited for its own chance to make a move. From behind the thicket came the vivid, daunting stare of two glowing eyes. The second figure had used Mean Look, therefore preventing Griffin and his team from giving chase away from the figure. It was obvious that neither of the interfering entities wished to actually fight the team, as they were likely much weaker, but they were severely inhibiting Griffin's attempts to pursue the boy. After Mean Look was used, the figure again disappeared from view into the jungle, just like the previous one that had used Flame Wheel.

Who or whatever these two were, they worked in marvelous sync with each other.

Aura

She wasn't too far behind from Collax and Madison as she kept up quickly catching up with them. She did not want to be caught by that male at a time like this as this just irritated her. She wasn't stupid as she followed along with Collax's plan as she was using the trees at this time before landing on the ground running next to him and Madison. Snow rested on her shoulder securely as her paws kept a hold of her hooded cape. This wasn't the time to complain that she was becoming slightly dirty with mud as all she was thinking about was getting away as soon as possible. "Such a nuisance...people just wanting to irritate me..." she said not impressed as she sighed loudly. "-Well...I'll have to deal with it for now...-" she thought keeping up.-

Right after Collax brought Lisa up the unstable ground brought Madison down. Not diving into the plants but plunging into the lava tube, she looked up at the boy with a sour expression and a soiled dress.

"Get back here, Collax, Aura! I'm not wading through the jungle after this! My clothes are dirty enough! Besides," she reasoned, changing her tone, "they know our general area now, so they can chase us on the surface forever. If an underground tunnel takes us to a different part of the island undetected, then we should follow it."

Distant smears of light illuminated this deeper stretch of the cave, which led them away from the abandoned hospital. Upon closer inspection—which was nothing more than a perfunctory glance in Madison's haste—they were Slugma, dragging their molten bodies and drawing her back. Even farther ahead, a massive pool of them denied passage.

"Come on out, you thieving croc!"

The girl cast a Pokéball, a disapproving stare, and an aspersion toward the emerging Sandile, but she was confident that he could clear a path.

"Sink the ground with Sand Tomb and drain these slugs!" ordered Madison. "Fill the holes with Rock Tomb!"

With a penchant for crime, the grubby reptile happily aided his trainer in trespassing on Slugma territory. She knew they were being pursued and likely didn't have much time. But the molten mollusks had even less, pouring like hourglass sands into the floor. There, the croc buried them with a stony barrage, leaving solid ground in the lava's wake.

"Good work," praised Madison, only for her Pokémon to dart ahead without acknowledging it. Why was she not surprised? Nothing had changed. She'd been in a frenzy to retrieve her hat when they'd met, and now the slighted queen was chasing the speeding delinquent through the rest of the tunnel.

When she finally caught up, it was at a sandy exit, in sweltering heat, and everything suddenly made sense. Sandile must have charged forward because they were so close to home.

"Aura. Collax," said Madison, not checking to see if they'd actually followed but remembering the latter's promise. "This looks like the desert. I still don't understand these biomes, but if we're to proceed, I suggest we stop here and finally have breakfast. The three jars of compote I prepared have enough juice to keep us hydrated."

She looked to Madison as she was still catching her breath before it remained calm. "That I understand Madison, it would be unwise to cross without hydrating first but if you need water mostly Wally can do just the job for that"she mentioned placing her hand on her mask as if resting it there. Snow smiled. "Vul! Vulpix!"she said agreeing. "We should eat though just to he safe"she added as she kept her ears open for any sound of footsteps.-

Collax stopped when he realized Madison was no longer behind him, finding that she had fallen into the lava tubes from earlier. At hearing Madison's call, he groaned and dropped down into the tunnels with her, following after her after Sandile dealt with the number of Slugma before them. Before Collax or his Pokemon could raise any protest, she had already started off after the croc as it fled down into the darkness. As Skorupi appeared from the undergrowth and plummeted right on top of him, Collax motioned to Barkley and they hoofed it forward.

Behind them, as they fled from the opening into the tunnel, something dropped in after them.

When they reached the Desert, both Collax and Barkley seemed hesitant to continue. It already felt too risky to stay in the tunnel; They had already been caught slacking in it before by a different member of whatever team Griffin belonged to. Not only that, if Griffin considered the tunnel, which he obviously would, they'd be caught like sitting ducks out in the desert. There was no way for them to hide in an expanse of dead plants and hills of sand, so he was abstinent about heading further in. In the jungle, Collax had a better chance than any. He could climb trees like an Aipom, camoflage himself into the brush like a Wormadam, and swim like a... really good swimming Pokemon. But he was as out-of-his-territory in a desert as a Magikarp would be in the same situation.

"Maddie, I don't really think it's a good idea to stick around here. Even less in that there desert. Too open. If that guy goes after us, and my money's on that he is, we ain't gonna have a better run anywhere else than this jungle. The only thing I can think of is if, by some miracle, there's something on the other side of this desert that we could hide in, we might have a good chance. Is that really a chance you're willing to take, though?"

"Nonsense, Collax," dismissed Madison when she set foot on the sand.

Straddling the dunes ahead was a rock formation with an alcove that, in her eyes, was the ideal retreat. By exposing themselves to the harshest elements they gained the element of surprise. Hiding by a water source would be the most predictable move, but no one would expect them here.

"That cave up ahead seems like the perfect place to take shelter for now, if you can't stand this tunnel," she continued. "With Aura as our water source I have high hopes we can cross the desert to a different part of Lasryn."

Like the waveless, motionless barrens, Madison was incapable of being swayed. Sandile had already started toward the outcrop anyway, so if her stubbornness wasn't the issue, she was simply following. The girl liked what she saw—a spacious, unoccupied recess with a grain of sand for every grain of wisdom that she lacked. There, she finally finished her jar of compote, handing the other two to Collax and Aura, having brushed before sunrise. The croc also relaxed, having reached his destination.

She grabbed the compote from Madison before quickly eating it. She offered Snow a Pecha berry for her fill then had thought that her teammates need the source of food as well. "Madison, Collax would you mind letting your Pokemon out for the moment, don't worry I will do the same"she said a bit more gently as she held four of her Luxury balls in her hand which held her teammates but had also pulled out a berry case.-

Collax followed along, still hesitant. Even as they reached the formation of rocks, he felt as though every step was one taken farther away from safety. He was all for pushing his boundaries and exiting his comfort zone, but there were certain situations where he felt that it would be many times wiser to stick with what he knew best. That being, of course, the jungle.

He was a fish out of water in the desert, and so was Barkley. Both he and Collax were vastly unhappy in the sandy terrain, and felt greatly unsafe. Skorupi didn't share these complaints with his team. The scorpion was more than happy in the dunes and rocks.

When they reached their destination, and Collax was given a jar of the berry compote, which he took without the same hesitation as he had when moving there. He sighed as he popped Inkay out of his ball and began to distribute the compote among his Pokemon and himself. They had all had a fourth of the jar each when Aura spoke up about letting them out.

Collax always liked to keep Barkley outside of his ball, as it felt like putting the Phantump in one made him less of a companion and more of a pet. Collax was quite conscious that Pokemon were as well, and he was usually putting them on the forefront of his mind. The only reason he returned Inkay, after all, was to quickly pull him out of the line of fire. Other than those situations, his team would be out of their balls almost consistantly, as long as Collax could make sure of it.

"I'm still not real on board with this, Maddie. It just feels like we ain't gonna have anywhere else to go if we get cornered in by those guys again. But if you really wanna keep going, I guess I'll go with you. Don't really have much of a choice here, do I?"

Back at the black lava tunnel they had exited from not long ago, a pair of creatures appeared from farther down. One was floating, and the other crawled along the ground. As they both approached the exit of the tunnel, they peered out over the expanse of sand which shone brightly in the mid-morning sun. One spotted a line of footprints, still fresh in the sand, that led towards a formation of rocks. They chattered together for a moment before popping out of the tunnel and making a beeline towards it.

Using the trees to escape Chance proved useful for the time being as she leapt from branch to branch, having to be careful to watch for weak branches and avoid falling from the trees. She stopped in one tree to catch her breath, breathing heavily as she stole a glance to see if the Manetric was following. However, a sudden buzzing noise caught her attention as she averted her attention to the trees surrounding the one tree she was in as more and more buzzing was heard. Buzzing was also heard just above her, sending a chill down her spine.

She didn't want to move, in fear of making any noise to disrupt whatever pokemon were in the trees, although she had a good feeling of what pokemon lurked in the trees. Unfortunately, she couldn't stay here waiting for Chance to waltz up and just snatch her up. Her mind began to think of a way around this without being hurt or caught in the process, watching the trees intently as she tried to come up with a plan. Perhaps she could somehow use this to her advantage if Chance or his Manetric found her. Maybe if she remained quiet they wouldn't notice her and pass by without a second thought.

Madison frowned. For some reason, she felt guilty at silencing Collax, so she changed her tone and reassured him. "Trust me. I know the jungle is like your home. But we'll cross the desert and everything will be fine."

In the relaxing shade of the rock, there was nothing that convinced her otherwise. A Diglett popped out of the sand and stared at her, perhaps drawing a similar blank. The little mole disappeared when Madison, per Aura's request, released her other three Pokémon from their capsules. Maybe years of textbook instruction predisposed her to see them as tools of battle who should stay in their balls and save energy for the next fight. Her polar opposite in this nonpolar desert, Collax possessed real-world experience and treated them differently. Gible, bred to perfection and raised beside her, was probably the only exception.

But Madison left the security of the alcove with her entire team in tow. Noticing Aura's berry case, she understood that they needed to eat too. The girl was wary of Mesasauga, who'd injured her in yesterday's encounter. The snake was equally alert, but not reciprocally, studying the sprawling barrens instead. While Sandile crawled comfortably ahead, the jungle serpent seemed just as foreign to the desert as Collax. Just like the boy, Gible followed her trainer wherever she went. Probot was an indiscernible character, its mechanical red eyes betraying no emotions.

None of them could see what was coming. Distorted by distant heat waves dancing off the ground, an even larger brown wave came charging at them. A second ago Madison had confidently told Collax that there was nothing to fear, and thirty was all it took for the swarm of Diglett to close the distance, sweep the girl off her feet, and swallow her Pokémon. Panic flashed across her face but everything else went dark.

"Collax!"

His name, not Aura's, was at the top of her head as she sank to the bottom of the Diglett mass. Her call for help was muffled, her sight, deprived, and her hope, extinguished. Having claimed its victims, the Ground-type deluge spared the others and passed.

She tried to reach out to Madison but was too late as she witnessed the Diglett taking Madison and her Pokemon below. For the first time in her life she felt hopeless as she couldn't save her friend and her Pokemon. She was unsure where those Diglett were taking Madison but than thought about Drayco. "Drayco, follow those Diglett!"she asked the Trapinch. "Find Madison and help her out!" "Pinch!" Drayco dug under the sand quickly following after the Diglett. "Sorry girls, all of you return" she said using the three Pokeballs to return them as Snow leaped on her shoulder. "Collax, I'm going to need your help here please...we can't leave Madison out there like that..."she said a bit more gently.-

Collax was initially at a loss for actions, purely out of shock, until Madison called out his name. Even as Aura asked him for help, he was already diving forward, chasing after the crowd of Diglett (and probably Dugtrio) as they continued away from him. The Diglett crowd had come out of nowhere and swept Madison and her entire party out into the desert. What was it with this region and mobs of Pokemon at once? They must group together on a constant basis to help each other survive in this confusing terrain. If Collax was a Pokemon, he would to.

However, Collax's brain held none of these thoughts as he took off in a sprint, trying to catch up to the horde of moles. The forefront of his mind was Madison, and seeing her plowed away knocked him into a state of panic. These were wild Pokemon, who may or may not have ever seen humans. Maybe they have, and they may have had experiences with those people who were after them, which may be why they attacked the first humans they saw. But then, why Madison? Again, none of these thoughts crossed his mind as he scrambled after the mob, trying desperately to save Madison.

Collax's team followed after him without much hesitation. Barkley clung tightly onto Collax's shoulder to avoid being pulled too far from his partner. Skorupi and Inkay pursued from the sides, and they all sprinted after the crowd of moles with haste, only Skorupi having any real idea what to expect from these Pokemon. All three of them, and Collax, were prepared to fight if these Pokemon were aggressive.

Still in the distance, the two creatures following the footprints paused at the sight of a crowd of Diglett ambushing the group of trainers. When the sandy cloud cleared, one of them and her Pokemon were missing, and the two remaining figures were already moving to catch up. One with a grey trilby and three following Pokemon was the first one out of sight after the Diglett. It was this hat that pushed the two creatures to travel faster, picking up their pace as they approached the rock formation.

She kept pace with Collax as she prayed that Drayco was still on the Diglett(or Dugtrio) underground for some reason she felt afraid which was unlike her, was it because of the fear of losing Madison from these ground type and her Pokemon or was it something else. She wasn't stupid so she had guessed it was because of Madison disappearing like that from the Diglett and Dugtrio who had taken her and her Pokemon underground for some reason she wasn't sure about. Through her mask, she could see a sort of light that glowed blue, once it had come into view it appeared to be an Umbreon. "-An Umbreon? What's an Umbreon doing in a place like this?-" she asked herself in thought. The Umbreon's gold eyes looked to her eyes that were under her mask before it had stood up leaping down further into the tunnel as if knowing that she wanted it's help to lead to the Dugtrio and Diglett. "Follow that shiny Umbreon Collax, it may know where Madison is," she said looking to him before picking up her running pace as Snow held on tight to her shoulder to not lose grip of Aura.-

Blazing through the desert, becoming little more than a blip on the horizon, the wave left Collax and Aura in its dust. Madison had lost consciousness, the rising and falling heads of the advancing Diglett slamming her from all sides. In her few waking moments she felt like she'd been buried alive.

The Diglett poured into a distant adobe fortress, spitting the senseless Madison out onto the ground. When she came to, she wondered if she'd died in interment, if she'd failed to become queen and the throne before her was a consolatory hallucination—the ideal afterlife. But when she focused her vision, she realized that there was an obese figure occupying her seat.

Madison had never seen the feet of a Diglett before, but there they were, pink and webbed and attached to a round belly. Did unevolved Pokémon swell to such a size? She asked herself upon fully regaining sight. Did Pokémon wear crowns? There, she was at a loss.

"She's awake."

Now she was in utter disbelief. Sometimes doting trainers overfed their partners, dressed them up in accessories and entered them in contests, but the girl knew for a fact that Pokémon didn't speak the human language. The words seemed to echo in her mind, and the intense scrutiny of a Baltoy compounded her stress.

"We've finally caught you, criminal. You and that Sandile," the corpulent Diglett addressed her. From his penetrating voice, Madison assumed that the crowned mole was communicating with her telepathically. Perhaps the Psychic-type acted as a medium?

"I have no idea what you're talking about," she answered confidently, masking her bewilderment. "Where have you taken me and why?"

"You are in the heart of the desert," the Pokémon answered, "and these lands have been ravaged by a beast of gargantuan size, a murderous Krookodile whose gang this Sandile belongs to. He slipped from our grasp and escaped to the jungle, where he must have met you. But we intercepted you before he could return to his master."

Madison glanced at her Sandile, restrained by Diglett in the corner of the throne room. She knew he had criminal tendencies, but she couldn't fathom that the unassuming low-life was a murderer's accomplice. What confounded her more was the existence of "gangs." Her studies had only taught her Pokémon's best uses in battle, not their social organizations in the wild. No... they never formed such complex hierarchies in the grasses of Hoenn, Sinnoh, and the human-populated regions. She'd first realized, when Mesasauga capably battled her without a trainer's instructions, that something about the species of Lasryn was different...

"I am this island's future queen. Treating me this way is unacceptable," Madison responded, unwavering despite her mounting confusion. But the sandy hall erupted in a chorus of chirping laughter, shattering her stern façade and invoking her childish wrath. "What's so funny?!"

"Silly girl!" the mole scoffed. "Lasryn can't be ruled by a single monarch. I thought you arrogant humans learned that 10 years ago!"

"And who are you to call me arrogant?!"

"I am one of the four exalted Pokémon who control this region," he explained. "My territory comprises the plains, savannah, and desert biomes. If you've come to disrupt the natural order, then you're just as despicable as the outlaw Krookodile."

Not part of the telepathic channel, a smaller Diglett must've asked, in an inscrutable tongue, what they should do with Madison.

"Throw her deep in the underground arena where she'll fight to our amusement," the monarch decided, before addressing the girl a final time. "Perhaps you'd have been spared such a fate if you'd gone with the humans chasing you. At least they know the might of the Four Kings and seclude themselves in the mountains."

Jax, Griffin

He heard Griffin’s voice in his earpiece. “Damnit,” he said. “Always have to do everything myself.”

He ran to the lava tunnel. “Such a familiar sight,” he muttered, chuckling under his breath. “Go find Chance. See if he needs any help. Hopefully he does a better job of catching them than you did.”

Griffin rolled his eyes at Jax’s jab, but complied. He ran off into the forest to find Chance.

Chance

Chance sent out his Gengar, who began to attack the tree. The tree shook as Chance smirked. “You can’t stay up there forever,” he said to Shaynuh, taunting her to come down.

Griffin suddenly bursted out of the bushes. “Let me handle this,” he said, pulling out his axe.

He began to chop at the tree with his axe. “If you don’t come down, we’re gonna have to make you come down,” he said. “And I’m sure nobody wants another casualty.”

The tree she was in shook violently from Gengar's attacks along with Griffin chopping at the trunk with his axe. Shaynuh did her best to remain still and silent as the buzzing noise grew nearly deafening, causing her to cover her ears. The sight of red eyes appearing in the trees confirmed her fear as more and more eyes appeared in the trees surrounding her, Chance and Griffin. Shooting out from the trees was a large swarm of Beedrill, all of them clearly agitated and angered from being disturbed.

The Beedrill began to attack relentlessly, going after everyone in sight. Shaynuh quickly moved from the tree, jumping to the next one before sliding down the trunk to run on the ground. She could hear buzzing just behind her, but did not look back as she kept running, having to look for a place to hide from Chance, Griffin and the attacking Beedrill. Her eyes darted back and forth in search of a place that could keep her safe and hidden.

So far, nothing looked promising.

A sudden stabbing pain in her shoulder caused Shaynuh to trip and stumble to the ground, kicking up dirt as she landed face first in the dirt. The pain was excruciating as she laid motionless for a moment, gritting her teeth as the pain made her body tense up. She struggled to push herself up from the ground, crying out in pain due to her hurt shoulder.

"Damnit..." she muttered, hearing the Beedrill that chased after her swarming around her to attack again.

Collax kept pushing, hoofing it forward for quite some time, but eventually failed to catch up by a wide margin. Eventually, any trace of the Diglett's horde's passing was erased from the desert sands. The only thing in sight was the rock formation behind him, and in front... nothing but endless rolling hills. He wouldn't be able to find her out here, no matter how hard he looked. He'd just end up mummifying himself if he went out too far without water, food, or shelter. As much as Collax wanted to push out even farther, just to see if he could catch even the slightest glimpse of what scrambled off with Madison and her party, he knew his only real decision lie behind him. Wherever Madison was, Collax hoped she could take care of herself, because he wouldn't be able to reach her yet.

He eventually turned and began heading back towards the rocks. He had to come up with something. What if Madison was just caught up by a rush and wasn't actually being captured by Pokemon? She'd end up in the middle of the desert. If not, who knew where those Diglett were taking her. Collax sure as hell didn't, and there was no reasonable way for him to figure it out. He didn't have the capability to chase after the Diglett or try and track them down. It just wouldn't be possible in this desert.

He didn't want to abandon Madison to the desert, but he didn't exactly have a say in the situation. He made a promise to stick by Madison's side and help her, but how was he able to help her when he had no idea where she was or how to find her? What was he to do? All he could do was return to the rocks and bunker down for a bit to gather his thoughts. So that's exactly what he did. He didn't mean to ignore Aura or her help, but it happened anyway. It was almost as though he couldn't register her existence at this time of stress.

By the time the dejected boy made it back to the rocks they were camping at not long ago, he was starting to brain out an idea. He'd light a fire and create smoke signals just in case Madison was able get away from the Diglett. Wait, no. That was dumb. That would bring those people chasing him right to him. The person with the axe, or the sword. They'd see the smoke and make a beeline directly towards him. How stupid could that be? He was trying to avoid them, not magnetically attract them. Leaving a trail was out, as given by the passing herd of Diglett hardly leaving anything to follow so quickly. There seemed to be no easy option for him. He'd need to think of something different. If there was anything else he could do.

The boy clambered over the rocks, followed by his team of Pokemon. Skorupi might have had the best chance to go and scout out what was happening, but Collax didn't want to risk leaving the insect on its own to scour the desert, because of the people after them. Besides, as much of a natural habitat the desert was for the little Skorupi, it seemed hesitant to try and step out too far into the dunes. Collax remembered that the insect lived in this very region. There was a chance this bug would know more about what was around them than anything Collax or his team could brain up on their own.

It was then that he recognized some movement nearby. Movement that caused rocks to crumble slightly and trickle down around the formation. Something that was nearby, perhaps listening.

Collax was really not in the mood to run into either of these team members again. Without Madison, he was already at a loss of what to do next, but now these guys were hunting him down in the desert? This wouldn't go well for him.

Barkley had noticed it at the exact same time Collax did. The Phantump was just as depressed as his partner at the loss of Madison, but was still as attentive as Collax. Already floating up to get a better view, the little ghost peered around the rocks, looking for the disturbance. Collax stood and joined him.

"Who'sit? C'mon. Get out 'n the open. If it's you people again, I swear-"

His request was answered mid-sentence as the creature responsible for such a disturbance clambered its way into view. A distinct row of five red horns flared out of the white tuft of the larva's head. Piercing blue eyes shone out through the makeshift cowl of the very-much-not-shady insect. A Larvesta. And a moment later, almost appearing from thin air, a second Pokemon. A more ghostly Pokemon, of which bore a snarky grin and raggedy, dark, cloth-like appearance. A Misdreavus.

This explained the help he received while trying to escape from Griffin. Skorupi chirped at the sight of them, almost familiarly. The scorpion had noticed their following since they had left the pyramid. These two were responsible for helping Collax, Madison, and Aura get away to begin with. They hadn't stalked him to attack, they followed to help. Or possibly, to receive help. Perhaps the rushing tide of water Collax was unconscious to experience was what finally released them from the old temple. And now they had gone out of their way to follow him all the way here.

What to do, what to do with these odd Pokemon.

She had noticed Collax was stressed at this moment because they couldn't find Madison. She couldn't blame him because she was the same exact way, just lost. This irritated her yes but she had patience. She looked in the direction Collax was facing but had saw the Larvesta and the Misdreavus appear before them. She may have had this feeling they were being followed and she was correct. She also so that shiny Umbreon in the cave who she had followed in the cave thanks to its glowing rings but was more confused as to why a Larvesta and Misdreavus was here as the shiny Umbreon was standing in front of them defensively.-

A Diglett tripped Madison onto a bed of moles before she could resist. She tried to scramble away upon regaining some purchase but soon found herself climbing upstream, as the Pokémon spilled into a spiral staircase and ultimately swept her down. The torches that followed the descent spared Madison total sensory deprivation.

When the cascading creatures slowed, the flames outlined an arena, an audience of furiously bobbing Diglett in its stands. The ones that had carried her promptly withdrew, and a stone slab slammed shut to prevent the girl's escape. An opposite door rumbled open, revealing a pair of icy blue eyes and glistening black horns.

Madison's prospects of survival, however, looked dim. Further corroborating that something was seriously wrong with Lasryn's Pokémon, the size of this Glalie was mind-boggling. Yet the swollen head stayed unconfounded, its predatory eyes trained on her. A Pokéball was tossed from somewhere in the audience, releasing her Mesasauga that was, by contrast, untrained.

But it was her best chance.

"Okay, snake," Madison rallied. "Heed my commands carefully. We just need to hold this giant ice monster off until Collax gets here. I know he'll come."

The Misdreavus tilted her head at the Umbreon, the Larvesta ignoring it. These two had come here for other reasons. The Larvesta crawled down and approached the trilby-toting, jacket-wearing, boot-stepping trainer Collax. The boy, in response, wasn't sure how to respond. Had these two Pokemon really followed him all this way? For what?

The Larvesta looked around at the other Pokemon following Collax. Skorupi was defensive of the Fire-type, but otherwise relaxed. Inkay looked on at the Misdreavus. Barkley, much like his partner, floated down to greet the insect. Who responded with a slight flick of its fur. It was then that the Misdreavus followed the Larvesta down and began to speak, supposedly for the Larvesta, mused the boy.

A moment of conversation went by between the Phantump and Misdreavus. The former seemed mildly confused and the latter shy. When they finished, Barkley floated up and shrugged. He muttered a few things to Collax, who still only mostly understood. Pokemon language was impossibly difficult to understand. The only things he was able to make out was something about loneliness and them being trapped. The Misdreavus spoke up again, which Barkley passed on to Collax. This made a little bit more sense, but was still unclear. The Misdreavus had mentioned something about hope. That was all he had to go off of.

Collax looked the little Pokemon over. They both stared back longingly. They had lived here in Lasryn their whole lives, but it seemed as though they spent most of it trapped away. And the only place Collax could assume that being was in the temple. Maybe something he and Madison had done freed them.

Then Collax remembered Madison, and she became priority again. But these two Pokemon couldn't just be left alone here. It didn't feel right, though, to just stick the two of them in Pokeballs and continue with his day. So he looked to Barkley.

"Hey, uh, can you ask them if they got any ability to help us out with Madison? I don't wanna just leave without her, but we can't find her like this. Do ya think they can do something about it?" Barkley roughly translated what he said to the two Pokemon, who looked at each other. Larvesta responded quietly, but not nearly as shyly as Misdreavus. Barkley relayed it to Collax.

"...Well, any help is good help. You told 'em we need to find someone who got taken away by Diglett, right?" To which Barkley shook his head and returned to speak to the two. They responded with wide eyes. The Misdreavus stammered. Barkley pried a bit more to the Misdreavus, who shook her head in a slight panic. The Phantump scratched his head, deep in thought for a moment, as he returned to speak to Collax.

"...Something, something, King, ya say. Well, that's not very helpful. You think they know where they might be taken, though?"

By this point, Barkley was getting tired of being the middleman. He rolled his eyes and pointed out at the desert dunes, in the direction Madison had disappeared. A few words were spoken, mostly to the Misdreavus, and the Larvesta spoke back harshly. So harshly, in fact, Barkley jerked back in surprise. Confused, the Phatump once again relayed it to Collax.

"...We're gonna be heading out, then."

She was still confused but the Umbre on had looked to her pointing her paw to where Madison had disappeared. He sighed loudly but with irritation. "I suppose we must keep going.....Collax...what do you think? We can't leave Madison out there like you said and this Umbreon here may know where Madison is as she seems confident that she knows"she said as the blue and and black flower indicated that this Umbreon was female.-

Awaiting the inevitable attack from the surrounding Beedrill, Shaynuh closed her eyes and prepared for the worst. Seconds turned to minutes as she waited, feeling no pain other than the numbness from where she was stung. Daring to open her eyes, she saw the four Beedrill that had surrounded her were asleep on the ground, no longer a threat for now. Taking the opportunity, she stood up and looked for signs of Chance and the ax wielding guy, seeing nothing but trees and the sleeping Beedrill.

A sudden presence was felt behind Shaynuh, causing her to swiftly turn around to see Gastly floating with a smile. She let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you for helping me, Gastly. Would you be kind enough to lead me out of this forest and far away from Chance?" she asked, hoping the pokemon would understand her.

The Gastly floated around her twice before heading left into the forest, stopping to look back at Shaynuh before continuing to move on. Figuring there was nothing to lose in following the Gastly, she hurried after it, moving fast enough to catch up as she followed closely. She wasn't sure where the pokemon would lead her to, but it was better than staying back there and await to be caught.

As she followed after Gastly, a pair of red eyes peered from the shrubbery she passed, watching her for a moment before disappearing. Movement went unnoticed by Shaynuh as something moved through the bushes, staying hidden while following along.

Chance and Griffin

The two men gave chase, looking for Shaynuh. “You can’t hide for long, girl!” Griffin shouted, swinging his axe at the trees in case she had tried to climb another tree.

Chance saw the Beedrill swarm lying on the floor. “She must’ve had help,” he said to Griffin. “Not sure what from.”

Jax

Jax ran after Collax and Aura, with his Jolteon close behind. He caught up, and hid as Collax began to interact with two wild Pokémon.

Meanwhile, Aura was interacting with a shiny Umbreon.

“No,” he said. “It can’t be...” He knew that if that shiny Umbreon was the Umbreon he thought it was, he was gonna have some bad news.

“They’re here,” he said into his walkie. “The others. Anthony’s group. I have eyes on Collax and Aura.”

Collax took some time to respond to Aura. He didn't quite have a plan or an idea of what to do. These two wild Pokemon seemed to know what happened to Madison, but were also abstinent about pursuing her. On the other hand, Collax and Barkley were out of their element and wanted to get back to the jungle where they'd be safer, but Collax just didn't want to turn his back on the desert when Madison was still out there. Oh, how he hated making decisions.

He eventually wove a hand in the air with an exasperated sigh. The only reasonable action was turning around and heading back somewhere they could camp out, maybe even stock up. There was always a chance they could head back out to find Madison, but he was too ill-prepared right now. So Collax turned to Aura, the only human companion he had at the moment.

"I'm not heading out there when there's no chance of me makin' it to wherever Madison is, but I ain't leaving her out there fer good. Not a damn chance. I'm headin' back to the jungle for a while, maybe a day n' a half, and then I'm hikin' right back out here and straight out-" He pointed in the direction Madison disappeared. "-thataway, once I'm ready. You can come with me if y' wanna, I ain't gonna force you, but if ya do, you better not slow me down. I made that girl a promise, and I'm damn well gonna keep it."

He began to gather any of his things he may have dropped here or there, like his bag or hat when he ran off to chase down the Diglett horde. Barkley lay down the plan to the Larvesta and Misdreavus, who both seemed rather hesitant but unwilling to go alone. Collax wasn't about to stick the two of them in Pokeballs yet; He wanted the two of them to feel comfortable with him before he claimed any kind of ownership. If they wanted to follow him, then he'd let them, just as he had done with Skorupi. The insect and Inkay both gathered around their trainer alongside Barkley as they prepared to head out.

None of them noticed the other presence in the rock formation, nor the radio message he conveyed to his team.

She looked to Collax hearing him respond finally about what he was going to do. She wasn't planning on holding him back at any point as that wasn't how she planned it. She may be stubborn but she wasn't heartless, she didn't want to leave Madison out there as she appeared to be a nice girl to be with once you get to know her. She watched the Larvesta and Misdreavus for the moment before looking back at the shiny Umbreon seeing that she can trust her very well as she knew what she was doing. "I will follow you, I'm not the type to waste time but if it gives us time to regroup ourselves then I have no problem with it but we should move quickly Collax, I sense that we are being watched closely possibly found. This Umbreon here has been on guard to protect us since the moment we got here. I believe we can trust her that she won't fail us with protecting."she said to him one hand on Glacie's Pokeball just in case. Blue had growled sending a Jolteon hiding ready to attack. She wasn't going to allow it to hurt these kids as she glowed brightly.-
