Ask to Join Jackson City and the Anime Highschool

Cartien proceeded, to the Visual Arts class, to further venture into the depths of his skill of photography. Once he arrived, he strolled in hands in pockets, nodding to the girls that sat in flocks. The teacher introduced herself and all of the students in the classroom- which had been one of the smaller selections of rooms, compared to the others in the large school. "Today, we'll be partnering up with one other person, and making a list of everything that stands out in this very room,"

Cartien sighed.

(And God said, "Let there be life". So a girl named Yellow came and gave it to them)

Alexis glanced at the boy who had sat next to her. It was the same Trent student from before. Was he following her? Did he like her? And the thought that Laura thought most of all was, "Does a true Trent High student want to be my friend???". But Alexis couldn't gather enough courage to speak, so she practically was shaking with anxiety, sweat dripping down her face with a worried look.

D-darn it say something. You're gonna look like a creep if you just follow her around not saying a word. I-I mean we just happened to have the same class and...oh just say something.

"H-hi..." Will said to Alexis at long last, before falling silent again.

Well, better than nothing...

Alexis turned to the Trent student, blushing at the large opportunity to talk to a Trent student. All her thoughts rushed out of her mouth.

"Hi there. It's an honor to talk to a Trent student." Alexis said, as she turned to Will, nodding with some respect.

"P-please, you do not need to s-speak to me s-so formally. I-I'm really nothing special." Will replied, as he would then mentally curse himself.

Great, know she's aware of how pathetic you are. Good job Will...

Soon, all was normal in the class except for a few jealous kids shooting glances Orin's way. He shrugged at the kids and looked back at the teacher. She introduced herself as Mrs. Fox and started handing out packets to prepare for All-Region auditions, packed with information and the Etudes to master. Orin skimmed over the etudes and snorted internally. These are kinda easy, to be honest...

Aitor straightened his uniform one last time, before stepping into his first class of the day; food tech. He was quite the talented chef, thanks to years of helping his head chef father in the kitchen, and now they had moved to Jackson City, Aitor's father finally had his own restaurant. It specialised in all things Spanish, and his porrusalda was soon to be the talk of the town, Aitor knew it.

Aitor could only hope that his...Issues, if they could be called that, wouldn't act up on his first day.

He sauntered into the classroom, to be greeted by Miss Eri, his new teacher for the class. She motioned for him to come and stand up near the whiteboard.

"Everyone, today, we have a new student joining us," the teacher began, "Can you tell us your name?"

Aitor swallowed. "Aitor," he shuddered violently, before continuing, "A-Aitor, Bolibar Garcia--"

"Garcia?! That's Spanish!" someone blurted out, earning a stern word from the teacher.

"Yes, well, I am Spanish," Aitor continued, "From Basque country, to be exact--"

"Where in Mexico is that?" someone else blurted out.

The boy shook his head. "No, no, I'm Spanish. I'm from Spain, not Mexico," he continued, "Different country, different culture. And before you ask, no, I don't eat paella every day, I don't participate in bullfighting, and I don't--Biscuit, BISCUIT! DON'T BUY IT, THERE'S A GHOST!"

The whole class, including the teacher, fell silent at Aitor's outburst.

After several seconds of silence, Aitor finally said, "I also have Tourettes'. I sometimes say crazy things that I can't control...I don't swear, though."

"It's so true though! It's quite the honor, really!" Alexis said, trying her hardest not to sound like a fangirl.

Soon, the Economics teacher, Mr. Sweeney, was now passing out a recipe that called for brownies, that were to be done in the two hours they had. Alexis and Will's counter had cupboards at the bottom, filled with many ingredients, and pots and pans that were to be used. The first thing to be made: Brownie's, coated with a light cream, and finished with a dollop of whipped cream, and with one fourth of a strawberry. Alexis started sweating, at how she had only ever made mac-and-cheese.

"I'm Alexis, by the way...have you ever baked?" she asked nervously, with a hesitant pause in-between.

"Y-yes actually. I often helped my mom cook dinner and we would often bake, it was nice..." Will said with a smile, those wonderful memories flooding back.

Which was then followed with a frown, knowing she wasn't here anymore. However he quickly pushed that thought aside; no reason to dwell on it.

"A-and my name is W-will. Nice to meet you." Will said in response to Alexis introducing herself.

Ms Eri cleared her throat. "Very well. Aitor, go and find a seat, and we'll begin the lesson."

Aitor immediately obeyed, deciding to keep silent, for now. If his Tourettes' would let him...

Ms Eri pulled up the recipe card onscreen. "Today, we'll be making a dessert from northern Spain, known as 'Gateaux Basque.'"

Most of the class had zero idea what it was. Aitor, however, lit up. Gateaux Basque was one of his favourite desserts.

"A pleasure!" Alexis said with a nod, before looking at the recipe, and pulling out the bowl.

She overlooked the recipe, and got out all the necessary ingredients; Butter, white sugar, an egg carton, from the mini fridge under the counter, vanilla extract, unsweetened cocoa powder, all purpose flower, salt, baking powder, honey, and confectioners sugar. At the time, she got out all the measuring cups, and read the first instruction aloud.

"Add all the necessary ingredients to the bowl." she read, putting a finger on the words she said, so she wouldn't get lost.

She then turned her finger for the measurement side.

"Looks like we need...a half cup of butter." Alexis said. "You may need to help me out here." she said, a small sheepish smile on her face.

The apron she had put on was white, with blue outlines, which wasn't exactly Alexis' choice.

"N-no problem." Will said, after he had gotten his own apron which was matching in color to the one Alexis had on. Will then got the butter and a butter knife and began to cut it, putting it in the measuring cup until it filled half a cup.

"Got it." Will said, a bit sheepishly. He hoped not to make a doofus of himself. It was his first day with someone who was willing to talk with him, he couldn't afford to screw this up and cause the both of them to get off to a poor start.

"Okay, you add that to the bowl, and I'll..." Alexis said, before scanning the next measurement. "Add one cup of white sugar."

Alexis then looked at the measuring cups, and found one that had a one cup logo on it. She picked it up, filled it with sugar to the brim, and wasn't sure what to do with the extra sugar on top. Not wanting to make a mistake, she turned to Will.

"What do I do with the extra piled up sugar?" she asked, a bit worried she would make a fool of herself in front of a Trenton Highschool student.

"Do we have any extra containers or cups so we could save it, might come in handy later." Will suggested, hoping he made the right call. His mother always took the lead when they cooked, now he was on equal footing with someone else and didn't want to mess it up.

"Well, I was thinking we may want to put it back in the container. We haven't touched it yet, so it should be good for now." Alexis said, as she grabbed a knife and slid it over the top of the cup of sugar. "Oh, well, I guess that worked out!" she said, as she poured in the sugar.

She looked at the list again and said, "Two eggs."

Will gave a nod and look for two eggs, finding them and carefully bringing them over to Alexis.

"Here." Will said, making sure he didn't so much as graze the eggs against anything as he presented them to her.

Alexis took the two eggs, and cracked them against the bowl, where she split the shells so the yolk could fall out. Once it did, she looked back at the recipe.

"One teaspoon of vanilla extract." she said, as she handed the teaspoon spoon to Will. "Your turn." she said with a pleasant smile.

But under the smile was a shriveled and embarrassed girl. Did I just say 'Your turn'? I'm such a baby! I'm in highschool now, no one wants to hear something like 'Your turn'!

Orin played through the etudes with perfect accuracy and style, incorporating some emotion into his playing. Everyone was playing as well, so it was a bit hard to hear his violin through the din. Soon, the teacher calmed the orchestra to speak. "Alright, so I trust you guys have practiced through your etudes?" A series of nods went throughout the students. "Alright, so I'm gonna draw names, and whoever gets drawn will perform an etude in front of the class. She reached into a box and pulled out a slip of paper and squinted at it. "Orin... Haniki?" Orin smiled and raised his hand. "That's me."

Will couldn't help but smile as he accepted the teaspoon from Alexis before he collected a teaspoon of vanilla extract to add to their dish.

Come on you moron, she's trying to make this enjoyable with her commentary. Contribute something to it, anything!

"And, back to you." Will said with a friendly smile, though on the inside...

Is that the best you can do? My god you suck at socializing...

Aitor didn't even look at the recipe card as he got started, having made gateaux Basque so many times, that he knew it like the back of his hand.

He was deft as he began making the pastry cream, whisking the eggs at just the right speed. Much to his relief, he only twitched once or twice, and had no verbal outbursts.

Aitor was just about done putting his gateaux in the oven, when he looked around, to see that some of the other kids were still working on their batter.

"Thanks!" Alexis said, setting it down, and looking back at the recipe. "Looks like we need a one third cup of unsweetened cocoa powder."

Alexis then looked for the measuring cup, and went through until she found the cocoa powder. She carefully poured it out, and did the same thing she had done before with the sugar. Then she poured in the cocoa powder.

Then she looked at the instructions again, and she gasped.

"Oh, God, I forgot to preheat the oven!" Alexis said, as she quickly dashed to the mini oven next to the garbage can.

So she quickly preheated it to three hundred fifty degrees fahrenheit. Then she got back to the recipe.

"If you can, add half a cup of all purpose flower." Alexis continued

"Of course." Will said as he grabbed the all purpose flower and filled up half a cup's worth. He handed it to Alexis. Will had to admit, Alexis was taking the role of leader and running with it.

Will just hoped that he didn't do something to screw it all up.

By the time Aitor was done cleaning his pots and bowls, his gateaux was ready, and he placed it gently onto a cooling rack. He dusted it with just a little icing sugar, when it was cool, and cut a slice, revealing a beautiful, golden cake, and a pastry cream flecked with vanilla.

"Wonderful job on your gateaux Basque, Aitor!" Ms Eri praised, "Have you made it before?"

"I used to make it all the time, back in Spain," Aitor answered, "And it's a popular dessert at my dad's restaurant. He fills his with--FARTING BUTTS!"

He clamped his hand over his mouth, as the whole class turned to face him. Some erupted into laughter, at the outburst.

Aitor shook his head. "That was my Tourettes' talking!" He insisted, "No, my dad fills his with chocolate creme patissiere, and cherries..."

Alexis poured it in, and looked back to the recipe.

"We need a one fourth teaspoon of salt." she said, looking for the teaspoons she had set down earlier.

She found it, rinsed off the vanilla extract, wiping it dry with a towel. Then she found the salt, and delicately shook some out, soothing it out with her finger. She then poured it inside, and turned to see the rest.

"Lastly, one fourths teaspoon of baking powder." she said, rinsing off the salt, drying the teaspoon, and handing it to Will. "Your turn." she said again.

Then again came the shriveling feeling inside.

Will couldn't help but smile as he accepted the teaspoon, something about this girl caused Will to feel...a little less nervous. Will couldn't explain it, nor did he focus on it as he would gather up one fourths teaspoon of baking powder to add to the dish.

"T-there. I hope I got it right." Will said, still a little nervous as he thought this situation over.

Haven't enjoyed baking in a long time. Forgot how much fun it could be.

"Okay, let's see what's next..." she said, silently reading the recipe card.

Soon, she reached into the cupboards, and pulled out an eight inch square pan. Then she grabbed some of the grease, called "Pam", and sprayed it on, to get it ready. She added some water to the mixture, not putting in any measuring, as she hadn't read the recipe carefully. Then he grabbed two spoons, handed one to Will, and started mixing the thick mixture.

"If we mix two by two, we can get it more soft, like real batter, and then it'll be more creamy too." Alexis said, as she stuck her tongue out a little.

Then she stopped, and without Will looking, she reached into the flower, pulling out a small pinch. She dotted it on her apron, and some on her face, to make it look like she was working hard.

"Tourettes'? Isn't that that disease which makes you swear?" someone blurted out.

Aitor shook his head. "No, only a few people who have Tourettes' swear. Most just do certain, non offensive things that they--ENGLISH SCONES! WOOHOO! Can't control, called ticks. My tick is that I yell random words, and tremble a lot."

Most of the class nodded in understanding, before going back to their workstations.

Will gave a nod and began mixing, much like Alexis instructed him to do. Getting nice, soft batter would only make it better in the long run.

"So, I don't think I've ever asked. H-have you baked before? Y-you seem very experienced and..." Will started to say before he noticed Alexis' apron and face had dots of flower sprinkled on it.

"Hm? Um, yes, I have." Alexis lied, trying to sound cool.

Then she turned to Will, and stopped mixing, for he had asked her a question, but stopped at 'and'.

"And what?" Alexis asked, her hands still on the wooden spoon.

"...and, and I was just curious." Will said, turning away from her to go back to mixing. Will was visibly embarrassed.

Smooth, real smooth. You gawk at the flower on her and now she thinks you're a stumbling idiot who can't finish a sentence. Just go back to baking...

Aitor, meanwhile, ate his slice of the gateaux quietly, relishing in its still-warm-from-the-oven taste. Some of the other pupils tried theirs, and surprisingly, liked them, before the teacher came round for give her evaluation on each one. Food texh was all about preparing desserts and meals to perfection, and thus, the pupils were judged on how how well they could prepare certain dishes. There was no room for soggy bottoms, burned crusts, or icing with too much sugar there.

Aitor, naturally, got a high garde, seeing as he'd made the dessert so often. His crust was beautiful, and the pastry cream was just right, neither too thick, nor to thin.

(Holy cow, time to give this RP, some CPR)

"Okay." Alexis said, as she looked at the recipe once more. "Okay, that's enough mixing. Now it says we bake it for twenty minutes, after pouring it into a 9 by 8 inch pan."

Laura then took out the pan, and sprayed it with Pam, before taking the bowl with the goopy brownie batter, and pouring it in, smoothing it out with a spatula, before calling it good, and putting the spatula in the sink.

"Would you like to do the honors of putting it in the oven?" Alexis asked, in a voice, that sounded sort of like she was telling a joke.

(Man, I had forgotten about this RP LOL)

Will smiled at this, apparently he found the joking tone of Alexis to be charming as he took the pan, after putting on a pair of mittens, and would place said pan in the oven before he closed the oven door. Will wiped away the sweat and turned to Alexis with a small smile.

"A-and...that takes care of that. G-good work, hope I didn't slow you down so much." Will said, again showing his own self doubt.

Alexis smiled back at Will, and nodded his thanks.

"You did great!" she said, trying to sound mature.

Then she made her way to the dishes in the sink and started loading them into the dishwasher near the mini fridge.

"We should probably clean up."

"Y-yeah, of course." Will said before he would begin to carry the other dishes towards the sink and would aid Alexis in loading them in the dishwasher to help clean the area up.

Aitor boxed up the remainder of his gateaux in silence, leaving the classroom quietly. Some kids yelled, "FARTING BUTTS!" at him on his way out, and laughed.

Aitor sighed as he checked his schedule. It was his first day, and the other kids already thought he was a freak. It would only be a matter if time before he begged his father to homeschool him, he knew it...

The bell rang, after Alexis and Will finished cleaning the tiny kitchen like area.

"Well, nice meeting you, Will. See you later." Alexis said with a small bow to him, before trotting off, and looking at her schedule.

She had science. So she walked over to a map pinned on a wall, not far from the Home Ec classroom. Science was on the second floor, room B2. There, she found another partner desk, in the front of the room.

Aitor checked his schedule, to find that he also had science for his second lesson. Another lesson, and, if the first lesson was anything to by, another chance for him to embarrass himself.

He clamped down hard on his jaw, praying that just this once, he wouldn't have any outbursts. None on the way to class. But then the second that he got in the classroom--

"I'm stealing caramel digestives!"

Alexis turned around to the door frame, to see a student. What had drawn her attention there was the sound of a strange phrase.

I'm stealing caramel digestives? Alexis thought to herself, but she shook her head a bit, and gave a small smile and wave to the boy, trying to make sure she didn't look like she heard.

Aitor clamped his hand over his mouth, just in time for his twitching tick to start up again. He began shaking, as he noticed some girl waving to him.

He wordlessly waved back, straightening up, as he blurted something else out.

"Peelers! Peelers!" he ticked, followed by, "God, I hate my Tourette's..."
