Ask to Join Geminos: ~Threads of Uncertainty~ (Role Play Thread)

Quickly becoming overwhelmed by all of the questions, Ajax raised both hands in order to quiet her down. "Whoa, okay, that's a lot. Uh, to answer your questions, I'm Ajax Warren (you can call me 'Jax' if you want), and I came to City Hall to receive my regional dex. I arrived on the same cruise as you, and my hometown is Mauville City in the Hoenn region. As for your last question, I am gunning to defeat the Champion of this region, but I was thinking I’d give Coordinating a try, so I’ll probably pick up a Contest Pass as well. With that,” Ajax continued, reaching into his bag to pull out some medical wraps and ointment and crouching down. “Your leg still needs some medical attention, so I’ll clean up this wound for you.” After applying the ointment he used for cuts or scratches, the teen wrapped the wound with bandages and tied it up just tight enough. Once satisfied with his work, Ajax looked up at Lizzy and smiled. “All better.” After getting up and putting his things back in his bag, he put out a hand for her to shake. “Again, sorry about all that. It’s nice to meet you; what’s your name?”

Seeing the Mawile pull back, Charmander also refrained itself from further unnecessary aggression and sat back in his seat for the rest of the trip to Aquamarine city.

When they arrived, Ken was swiftly escorted out to a room where he would be interrogated. “Hope this won’t take long. I wonder where Ellen is right now, I still need to give her back her Rhyhorn.”

Charmander walked up beside him. “Oh hey little guy, I didn’t pay attention to you in the car but you really followed me all the way over here? Do you want to join my team?” The fire lizard nodded. Ken thought for a moment. “This isn’t an ideal location to do this. Let’s wait until this process is over before doing anything else.”

The breeze rustled Atticus’s hair as it left a salty taste in his mouth. The occasional drop of ocean water splashed up and dotted his face. The young boy had missed the luxurious ferry he had spent months saving up money to buy a ticket for, and was now stuck riding a creaky old fishing boat, fulling exposed to the elements of the sea.

“Well I guess we can try to make the best of it. Wanna try fishing?” He whispered to the Emolga on his shoulder who happily chirped in response.

“Ha, of course you do.” Atticus chuckled, pulling out the collapsible carbon fiber rod and quickly assembling it. Carefully, he attached a pokéblock shaped lure to the end of the line and whipped the rod over his shoulder, creating a satisfying swishing sound as the line traveled into the ocean.

Atticus did not have to wait long for a bite. After only a few minutes he began to feel a slight tug.

“Alright, set the hook.” He whispered to remind himself of the steps. After pulling up sharply he could feel the tension in the line and began reeling as fast as he could.

“Oh wow!” Atticus’s eyes sparkled as he gasped in awe. The aquatic Pokémon he had been fighting broke the surface of the water with a brilliant splash, revealing itself to be a beautiful Mantyke. Then suddenly, a hideous looking bruxish jumped up, biting the mantyke and snapped the line as it dragged it underwater.

“Geminos. What the hell is wrong with this region?” Atticus groaned, his jaw nearly dropping to the ground of the raggedy boat after witnessing such a spectacle.

“No more fishing until we land.” He grumbled to himself, laying down on his back and pulling his hat over his eyes while Topaz curled up on his chest. The duo feel asleep, comfortably swaying with the sea.

"Apart from one dizzy Staryu, we're fine. No one got hurt. Astraea should be fine in a few moments." Sandra told Devin as Astraea stood on its feet again, although a bit more wobbly than before. But the Staryu was determined to get it right one day, though it was too dizzy to really do anything. Sandra didn't want to let the Star Shape Pokémon walk after spinning around, so she picked it up and held it against her body, not really being able to carry it in an other way due to its size. It was not the lightest Pokémon in the world, but she could carry it for now. "I'll let Astraea get some fresh air first, then she'll spend the night in her ball. And don't worry Devin, no one got hurt and I think it's quite interesting to see two species interact that usually avoid each other. I never knew that Staryu could roll around on land, nor that they have to learn it." Sandra beamed as she learned more about her starter Pokémon.

The interrogation was...less invasive that she'd expected. A note of consideration Ellen was thankful for. They vigorously picked at her memory of the scene, and from her descriptors, soon a lifelike drawing of Zoom-or-Doom was sketched up. They released her to her own devices as they muttered about setting the area up under quarantine, taking samples for any remaining trace of the Venomoth or any of the fluids that were strapped to it.

As she stepped into the streets of Aquamarine city, the Canalavean trainer decided to leave everything to the authorities and focus on the journey at hand. She checked her bag, noticing a lack of Pokeballs and Poffins. She would certainly need to take care of that as her journey would come to a grinding halt without them. Pulling up her map of the Geminos region, and zooming in on Aquamarine City, Ellen began making her way towards the Pokemart before abruptly switching course.

"Well..." She found herself idly stroking Cordelia's head, "I should probably get you guys checked out at the pokemon center first."

"Thank you so much for doing that for me, I kind of forgot I even got scratched and it wasn't hurting all that bad, but it was really nice of you to do that. My name is Lizzy and I'm here to be the GREATEST Pokemon Coordinator in the world with my partner Angel." She turned around to reveal the still barely awake Vulpix peeking out of her bag, who had been a little dazed by the fall from earlier. "If you are planning to participate in contests, you are going to have one amazing rival to beat. That doesn't mean we can't still be friends though." Lizzy smiled as she said this. She wanted to show how confident she was that she was going to make something of herself here in Geminos, just like some of her favorite coordinators.

Just then she grabbed Ajax's arm and tried to drag him with her into city hall. "Well come on then, we don't have all day. We need to get our pokedexes, maps, pokeballs, and most importantly, contest passes before the end of the day and I can't wait another minute!!" As Lizzy was trying to drag the older boy into city hall, something was watching from just around the corner and was astounded by the high energy and enthusiasm she was displaying. "Tyy..."

Atticus woke to the sound of fishermen yelling that they had reached the port. He yawned and stretched as he slowly rose to his feet.

“Aaaah, thanks for the ride.” He yawned as his Emolga crawled onto his shoulder. Atticus looked out at the ocean, admiring the way the brilliant orange and yellow streaks of light danced across the rippling water.

“How about we just camp here for the night?” The young boy suggested to his Pokémon. Topaz smiled and nodded, also enjoying the view.

Atticus began to settle in for the night while Topaz played in the shallow waves. The trainer couldn’t help but smile as he watched his close friend enjoying the new region.

Just as he finished unrolling his suitcase, he heard Topaz scream and fly towards him, followed by him getting soaked with a jet of water.

“Ohhh Topaz, what’d you do this time?” Atticus groaned and fixed his hat while turning to face an angry Buizel.

Rowan could barely react in time due to the spontaneity of Astraea's "assault" Mantì. Fourtunately for him, Sandra was fast enough to nab the Grass Type before she got hurt.

"Thanks Sandra. If you werent there, Mantì wouldve taken a star to the face, "

The grass type didn't seem to be particularly amused by Rowan's comment, which caused him to respond in the only way he knew how.

"Sorry Mantì, I didn't mean it like that,"

Thankfully, the Fomantis wasnt fond of holding a grudge, so she forgave her trainer.

"Mannt"(Well it wasnt all bad, from the looks of it, I think Twinkle-Twinkle over there learned Rapid Spin). Of course, she called Astraea that in a teasing tone, willing to revoke the nickname if the Water Type got offended.

Rather surprised at the sudden pull by Lizzy, Ajax allowed himself to be dragged to City Hall. After receiving his things, the teen waited for Lizzy to do so as well. As he waited, he let out Florian, and the Gecko Pokemon was beamed out in a bright blue light. "So, we're finally here. It should be fine if you stay out of your Pokeball from now on." The Treecko nodded in understanding, and Ajax stroked his head. However, unlike the usual response this act normally incited, Florian suddenly shivered and retreated onto Ajax's shoulder, a visible expression of unease clear on his face. "Hmm? What is it?" A dim, lavender light in the corner of his eye began to flicker erratically, attracting his attention. The teen turned to see what looked like a white wax candle with a purple flame, which wouldn't have been too disconcerting if it wasn't for the beady yellow eyes that could also be seen. Unfamiliar with Unova region Pokemon, Ajax furrowed his brow in confusion as he pulled out his new Pokedex and scanned the figure. "Litwick; the Candle Pokemon of the Unova region," The Pokedex chirped, "Litwick appear to be helping to guide the way of people by illuminating areas that are darkened, but in reality they are actually leading them to the Ghost World. They feed off the life energy of people and Pokemon, and use it as fuel for the flames on their heads." "Life energy, huh? Your light is really dim; you must be weak, huh?" The Litwick let out a soft whimper as if to confirm Ajax's thoughts. "Do you want to come with me?" This was a risky move; if Ajax took the Litwick with him, he was susceptible to constant fatigue due to his life energy being sapped away every second. However, an unwavering friendly smile remained on his face as he motioned to the Litwick to join him. The Candle Pokemon seemed perplexed as if to process the offer for a few seconds before happily agreeing, hurrying to the teen's side. Ajax chuckled and nodded, pulling out an empty Pokeball and beaming the Litwick into the capsule with a yawn. Guess I should start keeping coffee supplies in my inventory from now on; I'll stop by the Pokemart in the morning.

"Well, with that out of the way. We should keep going and get to the next town." Devin advised the group as the Staryu seemed okay for the most part and more importantly he felt they should quicken their pace on account of the Kangaskhan. His own Growlithe could use a session with Nurse Joy as well.

Terra seemed to smile now that everyone was okay, and seemed just as eager to keep going as she barked out finding Manti's nickname to be cute before she turned to Astraea. "Rock! Ruff." (You will find your legs! I am sure of it, just gotta keep trying little by little.)

Lizzy ran up to talk to the lady at the information desk. "What all would I need to start my own journey to be the best Coordinator in the world?

The attendant was taken back by the directness of the young girl, but quickly answered her question. "Well you will probably need a pokedex, a couple of pokeballs, and a map of the region. We have versions available with the pokegear and the poketch if you want to download them. Oh and of course you are going to need a contest pass in order to be a coordinator, I just need your name.

"My name is Lzz- I mean Elizabeth Kahele, and I don't actually have any of that on me. We don't really have many of those in the Alola region."

"Well that's ok Elizabeth, we always keep hard copies of each on hand. Here is a Pokedex, a town map, a couple of pokeballs, and your very own contest pass." She handed Lizzy a few separate items that Lizzy would have to carry around since she didn't have the compatible devices. She still happily took the map and pokeballs and stuffed them in her bag while taking angel out to walk beside her since she had finally woken up. She then took the pokedex with glee.

"Hi, I'm Lizzy, what should I call you?" She asked the pokedex eagerly, waiting for a reply. When none came, Lizzy repeated her question, slightly louder, "Hi, I'm Lizzy, what should I call you?" She started getting a little annoyed at this point so she asked another question, "Why won't you come out? are you shy?" Still no response. At this point she just wanted something from the pokedex so she started shaking it vigorously, "COME ON OUT ROTOM!!"

All the while, the attendant was stared at the young girl along with just about everyone in the room. "Ma'am is there something I can help you with?"

"The pokedex isn't talking to me. My brother is really good friends with his rotomdex and I was hoping to have that kind of relationship with mine too." Lizzy started to pout as she said this.

The attendant looked at her with sympathy. "You said you were from Alola right? In Alola they have pokedexes that were designed to be compatible with Rotom, but we don't have those available in Geminos, I am sorry.

Lizzy, obviously upset about this new development, thanked the attendant for all she had done before and lumbered to where it looked like Ajax was catching a new pokemon, which quickly changed her mood, "What was that little cutie? It had a little flame on its head, didn't you think it was cute, Angel?" Angel just looked at her trainer overwhelmed by everything that just happened and gave a slight "piix?"

A small pokemon had snuck into city hall, still watching the young girl with the vulpix, "roo.."

"Well, we can't have that happening. After all, friends don't hurt each other." Sandra smiled at Rowan as Astraea faced Manti. "Starrrr!" (Twinkle-Twinkle? I do not twinkle, my core just flashes. And I don't believe that Rapid Spin is supposed to be used as a way of transport.) There was not animosity behind it, but it was unsure if Astraea struggled to understand jokes or was too prideful to let such a nickname make it laugh. If it even could laugh, but that was a question for another day. "Yu? Staryu." (Find my legs? I never lost them.) With that, it was clear as crystal that Astraea just didn't understand jokes.

"Yeah, good call. Let's go then, I made a promise and I will keep it." The Johtonian said with pride as she began to walk down Route 1, though it was easy to keep up with her as she was weighed down significantly.

Rowan smiled back at Sandra since it was just a generally heartwarming moment. However, the smallest whisper of a voice told him not to get too attached to his new companions.

I hope they dont leave...

Mantì seemed to be amused by Astraea taking her joke literally. Coupled with a similar response to Terra's joke and the grass type had officially assumed to herself that the Staryu was actually a robot.

"Alright, Aco's got a burn anyway," With that, Rowan found himself holding up the rear yet again, to the surprise of absolutely no one.

Ajax turned to glance at Lizzy and nodded. "Yeah, my dex said it was a Litwick, a Pokemon from the Unova region. Seemed like a nice addition to my team, so I asked the little guy to join me." With that, the teen beamed out the Candle Pokemon, which let out a happy chirp. Florian immediately tensed up from his perch on Ajax's shoulder and retreated onto his head, and the trainer let out another yawn subsequently. "Might have to get some coffee or energy drinks with him around though." Checking the Poketch he had also received, Ajax looked at the time. "Anyway, it's getting pretty late in the evening; we should go look for a place to get some rest." Returning the Litwick--which the teen had decided he would name "Pyro"-- he approached the woman at the front desk and asked for the nearest hotel. Once he received satisfactory information, Ajax thanked her and walked back to Lizzy. "Alright, the nearest place to stay should be a 5 minutes' walk southeast from here."

Terra naturally had a joke about how literal the Staryu took the comments too literally while Devin just continued onward. He would naturally take in the sights and majestic beauty of the region, but it was hard to appreciate fully in the rush they had been on.

FInally though, they arrived at what appeared to be a city at the end of Route 1. Aquamarine City to be specific, as Devin would lead his group inside as instantly his mind shifted to finding the Pokemon Center which thankfully enough had been an easy building to find no matter the region.

"Guys over here!" Devin called out to Rowan and Sandra as he aimed to lead them to the Pokemon Center. Devin would take the lead as Terra kept in stride with her trainer as they soon entered and were greeted by the warm smile of the local Nurse Joy.

"Hello there, how may I help you?" Nurse Joy asked kindly, Devin had been about to speak but decided to give Sandra the chance first since compared to her Kangaskhan his Growlithe was in less serious condition and they needed to properly prioritize.

Sandra put Astraea on the ground, stretching her arms now that the extra weight was gone. "Hello Nurse Joy, I found a wild Kangaskhan who got pretty roughed up in a fight with a pack of Growlithe. Could you please heal her? I promised that I would get her and her child healed as soon as possible, and I don't want to let her down." The reasoning might not really seem that convincing to others, but Sandra never really cared about what others thought of her and she sure wasn't going to start now. She placed the Poké Ball on the desk and waited for Nurse Joy to heal the Kangaskhan. She wasn't sure if she was going to keep it, maybe she'd return to Route 1, release it from the Poké Ball and see if she wants to stay.

As Sandra was thinking about the next step, Astraea decided to try the spinning roll again. Basically throwing itself to the side, they managed to roll around and figured out that leaning forward made them turn to right and leaning back made the Staryu turn to the left. Though the Star Shape Pokémon crashed into an unoccupied bench, it was happy to learn how to turn. The crash made Sandra turn around and look at her starter, letting out a content sigh and smiling at Astraea. "You really couldn't pick a better place to practice than inside?" She faced Nurse Joy again and apologised for the ruckus. "Sorry, my Staryu dislikes walking and is trying to learn how to roll around the place on her side."

“What? No. I’m just...just a bit shaken. I’ll be okay.” Levi replied once more, attempting to push past the subject at hand.

“We should get in the city. I’m sure word on what just happened is gonna spread like wildfire. Plus, we’re eye witnesses who just ran away from the scene, so the police will likely wanna speak with us.” Levi knew Newt likely wouldn’t wanna hear that last part, but he wanted to shift topics, as an attempt at clearing his mind for the time being.

Shen: King of Digimon

Previously Shen: King of the Mist
Newt cringed when he heard the least part about the police. The last thing he wanted was being accused for some crime or being affiliated with that thug they met back in the forest. Not to mention would completely halt any progress they were making. Newt then walked past Levi, pick up a pace.

“Then we should leave quick so we get their before them, I don’t want to be in a holding cell tonight.”

Nurse Joy merely smiled in response, she understood the girl's concern and took the matter seriously as she accepted the Pokeball without hesitation. She quickly worked to get it the machine as it began to work its magic to treat its injuries. While the oddly cheerful song played Nurse Joy turned back to Sandra just in time to catch her Staryu bump into a bench.

"Oh it is alright. So long as no damage is caused and nobody is bothered, no harm done." Nurse Joy assured as she waited before the cheerful hum would conclude; it took a little longer than usual given the Kangaskhan's injuries. However, they were not critical and soon enough the end of the hum came as Nurse Joy went to get the Pokeball and passed it back to Sandra. "Here you go, make sure it gets some rest. The injuries are treated though it would be wise to take it easy least for some short immediate time." Nurse Joy advises as the Kangaskhan was treated of its injuries.

"Thank you Nurse Joy!" Sandra exclaimed, relieved by the fact that she didn't mind Astraea's little antics and that the Kangaskhan should be completely healed. She accepted the Poké Ball and turned to face Devin and Rowan. "Guys, heal your Pokémon if you have to. I intend on waking up early tomorrow to release the Kangaskhan if she doesn't want to stay with us." She informed her friends before putting Astraea back on its feet. "There you go girl, let's save those tricks for later."

"Staryu!" (I would much rather roll than walk, let me have this!) Astraea cried out, but Sandra couldn't understand the Staryu of course.

"Ruff, rock." (That's the spirit, but gotta find a better time and place for that.) Terra barked back to the Astraea as she was happy to see the Staryu getting a better grasp of the rolling but tried to advise her that this location may not have been the best. Least if the overly worried trainers were any cause for concern.

Devin nodded as he walked over to the desk and presented the Pokeball of the Growlithe. "I have a newly caught Growlithe that is in need of a treatment..." Devin explained as Nurse Joy smiled and without hesitation took the Pokeball and placed it in the machine. The same oddly delightful tune sounded and sure enough once it ended she pulled the Pokeball out and presented it to Devin.

"Here you go, your Growlithe should be just fine. Just keep an eye on it to be safe." Nurse Joy advised as Devin nodded while he considered what to do next as he moved to give space for Rowan.

"Staryu. Star." (There's a time and place for everything, but not now. Or so I am told, yet I also get told that there is no time like the present. I might be intelligent, but contradicting advice is something that I can't handle.) Astraea said to Terra as Sandra sat down on an empty couch, watching her starter interact with Devin's starter. She was happy that Astraea was trying to socialise with other Pokémon, they used to hang around their trainer so much before visiting Geminos that she worried that they might not be able to make Pokémon friends. But it appeared that her worries were just that, unwarranted worries. The Star Shape Pokémon seemed to get along with others just fine.

"Rock. Ruff ruff." (Yeah well don't look at it that way. It's two pieces of advice to take, for different circumstances.") Terra replied, as she understood the confusion and tried to clarify the advice as two separate tips to use not next to each other but when the situation favored one over the other.

Devin saw his partner and Sandra's as they chatted about and seemed to be getting along, which caused him to smile as he moved to sit next to Sandra. "Seems they are getting along well. Terra has always been a sociable one, for better or worse." Devin mused as he himself seemed a bit more sheepish with the whole conversation thing but he figured he should work to improve on that and take after his partner's example.

"Star? Staryu?" (Really? When should I apply which advice? I never was that good at figuring out advices and the like, so I try to apply them whenever I can, hoping to figure out their meaning. Whenever I say them around my trainer, she agrees with them but I doubt that she can even understand me.) Astraea slumped forward dejectedly, before standing upright again. "Yu? Starrrr!" (This might sound stupid, but can you help me figure out advices? I know I am asking a lot of you and that I am probably a bit unnerving, but I'll try my best to learn them! Maybe other Pokémon are willing to help me if you need some time off.) Astraea's core flashed in anticipation, hoping that Terra would agree.

Sandra turned to face Devin and smiled. "I noticed, and I think that this could really do Astraea some good. She never really hung around with other Pokémon back home, always sticking to me within a radius of five feet. I feel like she balances me out by being a bit antisocial, with me being outgoing and all. I'm glad to see her try and make some friends, though I can only imagine what they are talking about. Maybe they're talking about us, who knows?" The Johtonian chuckled at the thought of it. "May I ask you something Devin? How did you meet Terra? Is one of your family members a member of that Rockruff club Rowan mentioned and did they give Terra to you as a gift or is there a different story there?"

Seeing as both Sandra and Devin seemed to have their respective pokemon healed, Rowan knew the only natural course of action would be to give his wounded pokemon the same treatment. The only problem was that he had no idea how yo vocalize exactly what he needed properly, at least not in the moment. While her trainer in contemplation, Manti decided to meet up with Astraea and Terra to give her input on their discussion.

"Man...Fomantis, tis"(Well for starters, the plural of advice is advice. Yes I am aware of how illogical that sounds but its fine. Anywayd Id be happy to help too if you wanted, though I understand perfectly if you only want help from Terra.)

Around this time, the nurse felt prompted to ask this kid who was currently standing in front of her station, for he seemed to be in deep thought about something.

"Uhh, can I help you with something..?" At this, Rowan internally let out a sigh of relief as he took out two pokeballs.

"Could you heal these two for me please?"

"Of course! All you had to do was ask you know," Rowan felt his face flush in embarrasdment as Nurse Joy went on to do her job. The process was actually really short, contrary to what some may believe.

"There you go," Joy said calmly as she gave Rowan his Pokémon back. The Alolan thanked her as he went to hear what Devin and Sandra were discussing. One of the things he hated was barging in on converstations uninvited(a trait that Mantì doesn't share), so he decided to listen for Devin's response and join when invited.

"Star! Staryu, yu!" (Of course not! All help is appreciated, no matter how small it may seem. Knowing my learning speed so far, I am going to need all the help I can get if I want to get it right soon. The name's Astraea by the way, apologies for not telling you two earlier." The Staryu extended its upper right limb as a sort of handshake invitation. Sandra watched the scene play out from the corners of her eyes and smiled, Astraea was coming along nicely.

"Ruff!" ("Yeah, communication with trainers is tricky, but give it enough time and your partner is sure to understand the subtle gestures or what you mean by what you say.") Terra advised to the Staryu, before she turned over to Manti and gave a friendly bark and wave of her tail.

"Rock!" (Oh hey, my name is Terra and sure you can hang with us~)

Devin chuckled a bit as Terra welcomed Manti no questions asked, before he motioned for Rowan and gave space so he could join as he thought over Sandra's question. "Oh well that is a bit funny actually. Professor Kukui was actually paying us a visit one day and had some Pokemon he found while he was on route. Ones without any trainer and seemed alone, among them was Terra here." Devin said as he recounted his story and old memories shined...

Devin had not been in the room with Kukui or his dad that day, in truth he had been upstairs in his room. Watching an international broadcast of the Hoenn Grand Festival. The young kid was in aww as none other than Wallace himself had come for the opening ceremony and put in what was nothing short of a spectacular performance with his Milotic. With an almost mesmerized expression and growing smile the young Devin mirroed Wallace step for step as he watched on the TV; every gesture, every step and even his facial shifts he tried to mimic step by step as he imagined himself someday on a stage such as that.

Unknown to him, the hyperactive Rockruff who already had been bouncing about and greeting everyone & everything downstairs, had heard the subtle noises upstairs and moved to investigate while Kukui and his father had been busy in conversation. The Rockruff entered through the door that had been opened by just a sliver of a crack and watched the kid before her dance and move about with the guy on TV. The Rockruff became entranced in a similar degree, and without Devin having realized it she began to move to try and mirror the elegant and flawless motions of the Milotic as both moved about almost in perfect sync. Only when the performance ended, had Devin become aware of the Rockruff's presence as he had been a bit flustered, while the Rockruff merely barked out with that infectious grin of hers.

"....and from then on, we became inseparable. T-to this day I still wonder what she liked about me so much then, guess she is just the friendly type..." Devin said, with a nervous rub of his head. Both on this question of why Terra picked him a sheepish shy kid of all people to be her partner. And also for the fact he left out what happened next when Kukui and more knowingly his father had caught wind of that performance as he'd rather not mention that.

"Staryu." (Sandra is smart and observant enough, that should be possible. I will just need to keep using the same motions for a word, that should be possible.) Astraea thought out loud before looking at Manti. "Star." (As Terra said, you are allowed to 'hang' with us. I don't see any reason as to why we should not allow you to be with us.)

"Wallace you say? I've heard of him, isn't he the best coordinator in the world? I've seen him on TV a couple of times, I don't know much about contests, but from what I've seen he is amazing at them and manages to put up one amazing show every time he appears. And maybe Terra wanted to be with someone who can dance as well as she can, who knows? No matter the reason, you now have a partner for life and that is a gift you should cherish." Sandra smiled at Devin, quite enjoying the little story about him dancing with Terra. She looked at Rowan and asked the same question to him. "How did you meet Manti, Rowan? I can't imagine finding one in the wild, she's got some incredible camoflage going on."

The process took... way longer than it should have, Ken was pressed and questioned about the same things over and over again where the officers kept trying to have the trainer admit to the crimes he did not commit. Not giving in to peer pressure, Ken kept his answer. Eventually the officers calmed down and actually listened to his side of the story.

He was soon released from the police station after that. The trainer let out a sigh as he ran his hand through his hair before readjusting his hat. “Wow, that took more time than it was necessary.” He said to himself. “But now that that’s over, let’s move to more important matters.” He turned his head towards Charmander who was still following him. Ken pulled out a pokeball and knelt down. “So if I understand correctly, you want to come with me?” The Charmander replied with a simple nod and a determined look in its eyes. Ken smirked. “Alright then, welcome to the team.” He held the pokeball towards the fire lizard who hit the button in the front with a fist bump. A red light engulfed the fire type as it entered the ball.

Ken quickly stood back up and set his sight on the pokemon centre. “I should get all of you guys healed up as soon as possible.” He began running towards the building.

Levi knew they likely wouldn’t be held in a cell just for questioning, but he didn’t feel like arguing the point.

“Alright, let’s get to town and rent a room. We can lay low throughout the rest of the day and start fresh tomorrow, once the news dies down.” With that, the boys departed, heading for a Motel on the far side of Aquamarine.

————

In truth, Levi wanted to stop and see the sites, still somewhat excited by the prospect of a new city to explore. But he knew the circumstances they were in called for action. He shook off the thought, remembering that this wasn’t your typical adventure anymore.

“Hello! Welcome to the Milotic Motel. How may I help you today?” A rather overly enthusiastic front desk worker spoke up as the two young trainer slipped through the Motels double doors.

“A room for two please,” Levi said hastily, placing his trainer card down on the table, along with a 100-Poke tip. “...and make it fast.”

“Very good, sir.” The front desk worker replied much quieter than prior, sliding the crisp bill off the table without hesitation.
“Room 37, second floor. Here are your keys.”

Levi slipped the set of keys and his trainer card off the table, passing one to Newt, before making a b-line towards the elevator.

Around an hour passed, the pair having now settled down in their rooms. They needed that long rest considering what they had just went through. Newt was laying down on the bed, music playing in his headphones, Dunsparce sleeping in his hood.

I never thought I’d see myself...HERE. Am I a fugitive now? What’s with this region? At least we didn’t have cops and robber back home...

Rising up from the bed, he yawned, taking off his headphones while Dunsparce adjusted to rest on his neck. He approached the window, wanting to take in the sights of the town. What he saw was beautiful. The glistening rivers of the town ran through it like veins in a body, fountains and water pagents were abuzz. He gave a small smile. It didn’t look so bad from this distance.

“Sparce!”

“Huh...? What’s wrong?”

“Sssssparce!”

Dunsparce’s tail rattled as he looked down from the window. Newt looked over to the side, noticing a few officers at the doors to the hotel. His heart began to beat faster, turning to Levi.

“Levi...?” He said in a worried tone. “The police are at the door...!”

After settling in, Levi decided now was as good a time as any to get started on his log book. In truth, it was more so a journal, but he preferred calling it a log book.

~Day 1~

My journey through Geminos has just begun. The Region has lots of promise, and every aspect of it fills me with interest. Even Seafare, the port town I arrived in, was quite the spectacle.

I had expected to be touring the Cities on my own, but thankfully, I’ve already made a new friend. Newt.

Newt is a bit younger than me, and quite shy, but a good guy nonetheless. We hadn’t planned to travel with one another, but sometimes life just steers you in unexpected directions....like when an Elekid steals your notebook!

~Fin~
Just as Levi was about to about to begin his entry for day two, the panicked voice of Newt snapped the boy out of his concentration.

“What? Cops?” Levi fumbled his notebook into his pocket whilst making his way to the window, just barely peaking his head outside.

“Okay, we’re okay. I tipped off the front desk worker, so he should buy us a couple of minutes. Again, I don’t think we’re in serious trouble, but we shouldn’t get held up any longer than we need to. Looks like we’re leaving sooner than expected.” Levi slipped his jacket on, peaking out the rooms peephole to make sure the coast was clear.

“We’ll have to find a different exit.”

“A different exit...??”

Newt was beginning to panic. The cops walked inside, out of view of the window. He had no idea where they were inside now. They could be climbing the stairs right to his room...they could be right around the corner...! It was nerve racking.

“I-I’m not going in the slammer!”

That just in, he opened the window and did a magnificent swan dive out, Dunsparce grabbing him by the back, huffing as it hoisted him temporarily into the air. The bug like snake pokemon hadn’t expected such a violent jump, so it hugged and puffed, letting the trainer down on the roof of a nearby building. Newt rolled down roughly, rubbing his head. Maybe not the smartest thing he’s ever done.

Just as Levi was about to crack the door open, he heard the struggle of Newt leaping from the window, filling the boy with shock and awe.

“Oh-hohoho! I knew traveling with you was a good idea!” Levi added enthusiastically, breaking into a dead sprint for the window.

“Rigel!” He shouted whilst pushing off the ground as hard as he could, causing his partner to emerge from his pokeball just as the pair went airborne.

“Wall crawl time, Rigel!” Levi shouted excitedly, grabbing onto Rigel’s legs as the strong jaw pokemon dug its teeth into the wall of the neighboring building.
The pair now hung several feet off the ground, just slightly too low to climb over the lip of the roof.

“Hey Newt, I realize you’re having an existential crisis, but I think I might need a hand.”

Newt took several deep breaths, not quite comprehending what he just did. But not long after he did it, Levi leaped out the window too, holding onto trapinch. Does he think that trapinch can FLY?!? He saw the boy not make the jump, falling short off the side of the building. Sweet Giritina i just killed a man. Before he could go into his second crisis in the last thirty seconds, a voice called out.

“Hey Newt, I realize you’re having an existential crisis, but I think I might need a hand.”

He looked over the edge, following where the voice came from, finding it coming from Levi, clinging to trapinch on the side of the building. He gave a long sigh of relief, almost forgetting to give him a hand. He was about to when a something blue to his left reached out with a long appendage.

“Why not?”

“HOW DID YOU GET OUT?!”

Newt was going into overload, wynaut’s sudden appearance not helping matters. Though Wynaut didn’t seem worried at all, offering to help Levi up

Levi desperately reached out for Wynaut’s appendage, surprised by the strength of such a small pokemon.

“You can let go, Rigel.” The chestnut haired boy pulled his partner off the wall, coddling the small Pokémon in his arms as he was dragged over the edge of the building.
Levi tumbled onto the floor, his hands aching and his heartbeat drumming in his ears.

“Hahaha! Whew! Wasn’t that something.” Letting out a laugh of relief, the boy rolled into a seated position, petting Rigel as he did so.

“You okay bud?”

“Pinch!” Rigel gave a reassuring nod, not the slightest bit fatigued after carrying all of his trainers weight.

“Heh. Guess THATS the real reason they call you the strong jaw pokemon.”

“How...could he have even supported your weight?”

“Why not?”

“Just get back in there...”

Recalling the blue pokemon back into the pokeball that he somehow got out of, newt nervously tapped against his chest. His eyes kept darting back to the motel, seeing if anyone was coming after them or not.

“H-How do we know if we escaped? Should we go farther? Wouldn’t we be spotted??”

“Sparce...”

Dunsparce didn’t like when newt got like this. It was hard to unwind the boy once he got wound up like this. The snake pokemon curled up tighter, closer to him as if to usher him to calm down

Rowan took a minute to think about the day he and Mantì first met. It was a day he remembered rather fondly, so hed be happy to tell Sandra about it.

"Well I cant speak for Mantì's side of the story but basically I just found that her lying down hungry and I fed her," As he said this, he began to reminisce over simpler times.

5 years ago; Akala Island, Alola Region

Rowan was visiting the Lush Jungle to find some ingriedients for a recipie he wanted to try. While on his way out, he noticed a small Pokémon laying down. It seemed to be unconcious, almost as if on the brink of fainting.

"Hey...are you ok?" A young Rowan asked the Pokémon. It looked like a bug type of sorts, though it also had a bud looking thing on its head. He heard a faint cry of a response from the Pokemon, which caused the boy's eyes to light up with relief. He got closer to the strange Pokémon to further examine it. Upon plaving his hands on its body, which surprisingly felt like grass, he heard a sound similar to a stomach growling.

"You must be hungry. Well luckily for you, I have this," Out of his small bag, the boy pulled out a Sitrus Berry, which was then used to feed to the Pokemon.

"Mantis!" The Pokémon jumped up, looking like it was looking for someone, but Rowan interrupted whatever thoughts were going on in its head.

"Glad to see your awake! Well I gotta go now but I hope for the best in your life!" Rowan called as he skipped away, expecting not to see that Pokemon for the rest of his life. Litte did he know that the mantis-like creature was following him home. Only when he got home and his parents made a comment on it did he pick up on this information.

"Huh, when did you get here?!" Rowan said to the Pokemon, who proceeded to snuggle Rowan's leg as if it wad owned by him its entire life.

"Well I suppose it cant be helped," Rowan's dad chuckled as he handed his son a Pokéball, "Just tap it on 'em and it should work,"

The 11 year old shrugged as he did what his father suggested. To his surprise, the Pokemon went in and it only shook once before registering the creature as caught.

"Now lemme just check my Pokedex..." Rowan's dad pulled out his Pokédex, which then went over to scan the boy's new capture.

"Fomantis: The Sickle Grass Pokémon," The Rotom-possessed Pokedex stated, "These grass types will sleep with their leaves spread to gather sunlight for photosynthesis,"

Rowan looked at the Pokeball with pride before declaring, "Well if your a Fomantis, then I have the perfect nickname for you: Mantì!"

Present day; Aquamarine City, Geminos Region
"Those were the days..." Rowan said with a wistful tone, as if he were an old man telling his grandkids a story, "So Sandra, how did you and Astraea find each other?"

Speaking of Mantì, pleasured by Astraea and Terra's politeness, she invited herself over to the conversation.

"Foman..fomantis"(Well I just wanted to make sure I was still wanted. Good to know I am!)

"Whatever you say, old man!" Sandra laughed at how Rowan reminiscing about he met Manti. "I suppose it is only fair that I told you guys about how Astraea and I met."

3 years ago; Olivine City, Johto region, 2:35 PM

Sandra spent hours outside on the shores of Olivine and the neighboring route, even spending half an hour with Amphy the Ampharos in the lighthouse. It was basically her daily routine and the citizens of Olivine didn't know any better or the girl was on the beach, fishing, swimming, getting to know the local sealife or gathering washed up trash. She knew first hand how damaging trash could be, having rescued a Krabby from a bottle that ensnared a pincer and discovered a Magikarp on the beach that swallowed a bunch of plastic bottle caps and couldn't survive.

On that fateful day, the middle child of the Rose family found a Staryu stuck in a plastic bag. Staryu weren't too common around her city, so she didn't know too much about them but she did know that the Star Shape Pokémon needed help. "Let's get you out of there, shall we?" Sandra tore the bag to pieces and removed the parts stuck on its body. There were no injuries on the Staryu, surprisingly enough, and it could be released into the wild again. But no matter what Sandra tried, the Water Type did not want to leave.

"Staryu." The Water type cried out its name as it flashed its core.

Sandra did not speak the language of Pokémon nor did she have much experience with Staryu and their behaviour, but it seemed pretty clear from how the Pokémon cuddled up to her that they wanted to stay with Sandra. "Oh well, who am I to not listen to the needs of a Pokémon?" With a smile, she laid a Poké Ball on the ground for the Staryu to touch.

Present day; Aquamarine City, Geminos Region

"I don't know why Astraea wanted to stay with me instead of returning to the sea, but I've loved every last minute I spent with her so far. The only regret I have concerning her is that I wished I had a Lure Ball instead of a regular Poké Ball to catch her in, but Azalea City is too far away for us to visit on a whim." Sandra told her two friends with a smile as she looked at her partner who didn't seem to realise that their trainer was talking about them.

"Star?" (Why would you not be wanted? You never did anything to warrant such a reaction from us, and I don't expect you to any time soon.) Astraea was a tad confused as to why Manti said what she said, and hoped for some clarification.

Rowan chuckled at Sandra's playful jab at him. It was nice hearing about how his new friends met their partners since he knew how special of a moment that must've been for them, seeing as he had a Pokémon if his own to call partner.

"Fo..man..."(Oh, no reason...)

In truth, there was a reason for Mantì's concerns, but she felt like she wasnt close enough with Astraea nor Terra to bring it up in casual converstation. In addition to that, she also knew that currently, the mood was rather lighthearted, so she didnt want to ruin it with details from her past.
