Trainer
Name: Pyroshu Rastrixen Darastrix
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Hometown: North of Mt. Moon. Was technically born in Cocona Village, Oblivia.
Appearance: He has a red tank-top with a royal blue jacket he refuses to button up, black combat boots, ripped faded blue jeans, and his complexion has a reddish tint. He's extremely muscular, especially in the arms and stomach. He's 220 lbs (99.79 kg), and 6'04" (1.93 m). His short, flaming hair is red with yellow and orange flame-like colors here and there, and the roots being a royal blue. His eyes are royal blue with red specks thrown about the iris. The only reason of the odd color choice is the aura that exudes from his body. His aura are the colors red and royal blue after the types Fire and Dragon. Since he essentially embodies these types, his appearance reflects that. He has a hand-made necklace made out of twine with charms, them being Dragon Scale, Dragon Fang, Draco Plate, Charcoal, Fire Amulet, and Flame Plate. He has scars on his body, but they are few and far between, but since he proudly wears his scars, he's more prone to showing them off in a show that he's been in dangerous situations before and still living. He has a Z-Ring on his wrist.
Personality: Because of his aura being like that of the Fire- and Dragon-Type Pokemon, he can be extremely stubborn, territorial, protective, impulsive, and quick to anger. Despite these bad traits, he's fatherly, brotherly, and sweet and nice to people he considers friends and family. He'll do anything for them and he's extremely loyal, but will ignore orders to protect the ones he loves most. He's not cunning in battle, but will have his moments. He's mostly about raw power and prowess than getting around a Pokemon's defenses. His motto is "They can't defend if I break their defenses."
Backstory: He had been studying about Pokemon ever since he could read, always being around them and learning how they behave. It helped to study about Pokemon when his mother was a collector and still trying to collect all the Pokemon in her 60 years of living to grow her ranch, known as the "Darastrix Ranch". When he was 6, Pyros' siblings and him got sent into the nearby forest by their parents and the Pokemon there taught them how to fight like a Fighting-Type, how to think logically like a Psychic-Type, and how to be cruel like a Dark-Type. Pyros, along with his quadruplet brothers, took the Fighting-Type training seriously, and they all equally took the Psychic-Type training seriously. After four years of "studying" under them and understanding the minds of Pokemon, they went back to their parents as stronger and smarter beings. They then went to high schools around the regions, spending at least a year or less in them, due to being homeschooled for a year prior their first high school. Although, after he hit puberty, his once dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes became the flurry of colors they are now, and his skin became tainted with those colors, as well. His personality even mirrors those of the Pokemon that have the typing Fire and Dragon. This caused him to snap in anger when he feels like something was unjust and will attack or a pick a fight with anybody who had tried to harm his friends or family. Although, his explosive temper usually leaves quickly unless stoked like the fires in a fireplace or a bonfire, his short fuse will be imminent. Through all the regions, he has gathered all the badges from all six of the regions, and has collected a large variety of Z-Crystals on his journey in Alola. He has tons of experience with Fire- and Dragon-Types, and knows how to get around Water- and Ice-Types, since he and his younger brother by 5 minutes will duel with their Pokemon.
Team:
  • Ninetales (F, Kyukon)
  • Salazzle (F, Ennewt)
  • Chandelure (M, Chandela)
  • Haxorus (M, Nokus)
  • Salamence (M, Boko)
  • Turtonator (M, Baku)
Other: Beep beep. He is also bisexual, just to throw that out there. He can also sing like a rock star. He also has a Charizard he uses to ferry himself around the area and can be seen out of her Poke Ball.
Pokemon
Species: Kantonian Ninetales - [type]Fire[/type]
Name: Kyukon
Gender: Female
Ability: Drought - Once sent out into battle, the field will become harshly sunny (like Sunny Day) for awhile (generally 5 turns).
Item: Firium Z - Upgrade their Fire-Type damaging moves to the Z-Move Inferno Overdrive, or upgrade their Fire-Type Status moves into Z-Moves. Will be Special when used with Fire Blast. Is worn around Kyukon's neck via a light, yet durable stylish metal that anchors the Z-Crystal into the bed in which it was for.
Movelist:
  • Nasty Plot - [type]Dark[/type] | Status | Raises user's Special Attack by two stages.
  • Psyshock - [type]Psychic[/type] | Special | Inflicts physical damage, despite being a Special attack. Even though it targets the physical Defense, it is unaffected by Reflect, Counter, and Shell Trap, but is affected by Light Screen and Mirror Coat.
  • Solar Beam - [type]Grass[/type] | Special | Needs a turn to charge, unless in harsh sunlight. Will deal full damage if in harsh sunlight. If under the effects of rain, hail, fog, or sandstorm, the attack will need a turn to charge and will do half damage.
  • Fire Blast - [type]Fire[/type] | Special | Has a 10% chance of burning the target.
Summary: Kyukon is quite the quiet type and is definitely shy. She runs away and hides behind her trainer whenever she's not in a battle, and only rarely go up to anyone. In the heat of battle though, she is a monster to deal with, her speed matching and beating those of most Pokemon and her powerful Special Attack, especially when buffed, make her a sweeper. She was first caught in the Kanto region, right on Route 7. She has made a name for herself on Pyros' team, even contending with his birth Pokemon, who was a Charmeleon at the time of her capture. She was caught when Pyros was 11 years old, and then evolved shortly before Pyros attended the Pokemon League. Pyros lost, mainly due to Kyukon's new evolved form and not having trained enough from her evolution. She redeemed herself when she had to protect some Grass-Type Pokemon under the care of Pyros' sister (Catrina) and beat away the Ground- and Rock-Types that threatened them with a newly learned Solar Beam. Since then, she has been on Pyros' team.

Species: Salazzle - [type]Poison[/type][type]Fire[/type]
Name: Ennewt
Gender: Female
Ability: Corrosion - Able to poison Steel- and Poison-Types.
Item: Weakness Policy - Attack and Special Attack sharply increases (by two) if the holder is hit with a move it's weak to. Disappears after use. Is on her back.
Movelist:
  • Toxic - [type]Poison[/type] | Status | Badly Poisons the target. If used by a Poison-Type, it will always hit.
  • Fire Blast - [type]Fire[/type] | Special | Has a 10% chance of burning the target.
  • Sludge Wave - [type]Poison[/type] | Special | Has a 10% chance of poisoning the target. It will hit all Pokemon in Double Battles and all adjacent Pokemon in Triple Battles.
  • Hidden Power Ice - [type]Ice[/type] | Special | Deals damage and the type is dependent on the IVs of the Pokemon.
Summary: Ennewt is more like the wallflower on Pyros' team. She doesn't think she is that good at battling, even though she really is. She doesn't think it as being a big deal, and won't even take training seriously. Once Pyros got her to understand that training is important, not just in battles, but in the health of herself, she took it up. Pyros caught her in Alola on Route 8 on Akala Island as a Salandit, and she contended with his Torracat at the time of her capture. She was faster than Torracat and stronger, but couldn't take as many hits. Because of this, Pyros used her extensively, training up her speed and special attack to help her to dodge and strike faster and with more power. He put her on the same regimen as he did with Kyukon, and those two became quick friends. Pyros caught her at the age of 17.

Species: Chandelure - [type]Ghost[/type][type]Fire[/type]
Name: Chandela
Gender: Male
Ability: Flame Body - When hit with a move that makes direct contact, there will be a 30% chance the attacking Pokemon will have the Burned status condition.
Item: Leftovers - Gradually heals the Pokemon by letting it snack on something. Is impaled through his black.... Chandelier things.
Movelist:
  • Flamethrower - [type]Fire[/type] | Special | Has a 10% chance to burn the target.
  • Shadow Ball - [type]Ghost[/type] | Special | Has a 20% chance to lower the target's Special Defense.
  • Calm Mind - [type]Psychic[/type] | Status | Raises the user's Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage each.
  • Substitute - [type]Normal[/type] | Status | Decreases a Pokemon's stamina by a quarter each time this is used, and it creates a copy of the individual. The Pokemon is now protected behind the Substitute.
Summary: Chandela is quite scared of other Ghost-Types, funny enough, but he is quite the quirky type on Pyros' team and a little flamboyant. As a Litwick, he was caught at the Celestial Tower in the Unova Region, and quickly became a favorite for Pyros to use in battle. Litwick was already quite strong on the get-go, but struggled massively against other Ghost-Types. It came to the point where Pyros had to have Shade, his younger sister by 30 minutes, help Chandela overcome his crippling fear of other Ghost-Types. After some training and therapy, it was kind of successful. Chandela, as a Lampent then, can finally attack other Ghost-Types, but will still run around the battlefield frantically and hide behind his Substitute and become reckless when against a scary looking Ghost-Type. As a Chandelure, his fear has faded, but not by much; he's still quite afraid. He went through the same training as Ennewt and Kyukon and raised his speed and special attack. He helped get Pyros to the semifinals, until he lost to a Gengar. Pyros caught him at the age of 15.

Species: Haxorus - [type]Dragon[/type]
Name: Nokus
Gender: Male
Ability: Mold Breaker - Prevents the use of an ability (unless the ability happens after the attack, like Rough Skin).
Item: Persim Berry - Cures Confusion. Is kept within the chink of his armor.
Movelist:
  • Swords Dance - [type]Normal[/type] | Status | Raises the user's Attack by two stages.
  • Outrage - [type]Dragon[/type] | Physical | Attacks for 2-3 turns (for a short while). Will become confused when disrupted on the turn it will stop, or if it finally stops and gets confused due to fatigue.
  • Earthquake - [type]Ground[/type] | Physical | Doubles damage on opponents that are in the middle of Dig. If Grassy Terrain is in effect, Earthquake will only deal half damage.
  • Poison Jab - [type]Poison[/type] | Physical | Has a 30% chance of poisoning the target.
Summary: Despite being a brute in battle, Nokus is actually a very sweet and happy Pokemon. He is extremely optimistic about everything, and won't even let a defeat create a grudge against an opponent, but see them as a nice rival. He has had to calm down Pyros on numerous occasions, ever since he got caught as an Axew in Mistralton Cave in the Unova Region. There was talk of there being powerful Pokemon in the cave, but Pyros didn't find the supposed powerful Pokemon, but found Nokus instead. Instead of feeling down about it, Pyros made the most of it and trained Nokus to be a powerful physical sweeper. Ever since then, Nokus has been a favorite of Pyros to use, alongside Chandela. Pyros caught him at the age of 15.

Species: Salamence - [type]Dragon[/type][type]Flying[/type]
Name: Boko
Gender: Male
Ability: Moxie - When Salamence defeats a Pokemon with an attack, its Attack will increase (by one).
Item: Snowball - When hit with an Ice-Type Attack, will disappear but the holder's Attack increases (by one).
Movelist:
  • Outrage - [type]Dragon[/type] | Physical | Attacks for 2-3 turns (for a short while). Will become confused when disrupted on the turn it will stop, or if it finally stops and gets confused due to fatigue.
  • Fire Blast - [type]Fire[/type] | Special | Has a 10% chance of burning the target.
  • Earthquake - [type]Ground[/type] | Physical | Doubles damage on opponents that are in the middle of Dig. If Grassy Terrain is in effect, Earthquake will only deal half damage.
  • Iron Tail - [type]Steel[/type] | Physical | Has a 30% chance to lower the target's Defense by one stage.
Summary: Boko, despite being powerful and scary, is actually a very naive Pokemon. He isn't as mature as other Pokemon on Pyros' team, but he doesn't act like a baby, either. He has this sweet innocence about him and child-like curiosity that makes him adorable, and yet he's a beast on the battlefield. He was very young when Pyros, 13 at the time, caught him in Meteor Falls in the Hoenn region. He went through the same training as Nokus, and has gotten Pyros into the top 16 in the Hoenn region. However, he lost, due to Boko having the same flaw as Kyukon, he evolved into a Salamence right before the tournament started and it proved to be difficult getting used to his new wings, even though he was excited to get them as a Shelgon. Even though they didn't win, Salamence thought it was a nice tourney to be in and became Pyros' other top favorite in competitive battling.

Species: Turtonator - [type]Fire[/type][type]Dragon[/type]
Name: Baku
Gender: Male
Ability: Shell Armor - Prevents critical hits.
Item: White Herb - Restores the user's decreased stats.
Movelist:
  • Fire Blast - [type]Fire[/type] | Special | Has a 10% chance of burning the target.
  • Shell Smash - [type]Normal[/type] | Status | Boosts the user's Attack, Special Attack, and Speed by two stages each, and lowers Defense and Special Defense by one stage each.
  • Draco Meteor - [type]Dragon[/type] | Special | Lowers the user's Special Attack by two stages.
  • Dragon Pulse - [type]Dragon[/type] | Special | Deals damage.
Summary: He isn't as shy as Kyukon or Chandela, but he isn't the loudest, either. He prefers to be alone and not be bothered by anyone, unless they really need him. He is quite reserved and doesn't want to be in any kind of party or event, unless it's battling. Although, shy when you first meet him, he is exceptionally strong in the field, able to take hits and dish them out. His training was a little different when Baku was caught by Pyros on Blush Mountain on Ula'Ula Island when Pyros was 17. Baku went through defensive training and also trained up his Special Attack a tad. He isn't the fastest, but he doesn't need to be, as he can dish out some strong attacks just like the rest of Pyros' duochromatic team.
Species: Charizard - [type]Fire[/type][type]Flying[/type]
Name: Zarda
Gender: Female
Ability: Blaze - Powers up Fire-Type moves by 50% when her stamina is below a 1/3 of her maximum.
Item: Harness w/ Charcoal - To help the rider stay on his Pokemon while also giving the Pokemon an added Fire-Type boost with the Charcoal tied around the neck.
Movelist:
  • Fly - [type]Flying[/type] | Physical | Takes a turn to fly into the air, then comes back down on the next turn. Can get hit by Sky Uppercut, Gust, Twister, Smack Down, Thousand Arrows, Thunder, Whirlwind, Bide, Swift, Transform, and any move used right after Lock-On and Mind Reader, and will take double the damage from Gust, Hurricane, and Twister. Will also fall back to the ground if Thousand Arrows or Smack Down is used. Fly can also hit non-adjacent Pokemon.
  • Flare Blitz - [type]Fire[/type] | Physical | Thaws the user if they are Frozen, and then inflict damage. Will cause recoil to 1/3 of the damage done to the target. Has a 10% chance to burn the target.
  • Dragon Claw - [type]Dragon[/type] | Physical | Deals damage.
  • Brutal Swing - [type]Dark[/type] | Physical | Hits all adjacent Pokemon on the field, including allies.
Summary: She is extremely protective of her friends and family and will keep them from getting hurt. She loves to snuggle and will occasionally lick her trainer on the face to show her affection. She will also emit a deep growl whenever she finds someone who she doesn't like. Despite her outward behavior towards just about anyone who gets near her trainer, she's exceptionally friendly toward their Pokemon, especially younger Pokemon. She was born at the same time Pyros was born, and she was given to Pyros as a Pokemon Partner, also as a Birth Pokemon, as per his family's culture. She stayed as a Charmander and went through the throes of life with Pyros until he went to school, where he took her along. After his stay at the school at the age of 11, Pyros finished semi early and spent the remainder of the year traveling the region he was in, getting Charmander to evolve at Cerulean City and then again when against Sabrina during their gym battle. Even though Zarda was very friendly towards other Pokemon, she would get a little jealous whenever Pyros caught a Pokemon, especially another Fire-Type. She eventually got out of this though, after having a rivalry with Kyukon, and eventually lived her life peacefully in Pyros' family's ranch, until the day when he needs her again, whether it be for a battle or ferrying him across the regions.

Question before I complete this sheet: Does living north of Mt. Moon work? Like literally right past the mountain range? If not, then I can have my character live in an actual city or town. Plus, this guy will be 27. XD Also, Atty will now meet Miel's brother XD Pyros!

EDIT: I actually made him 30 to be a bit more realistic. Also, if you couldn't tell, I tried to stay away from the main staple Pokemon everyone seems to grab. Although, his Charizard will make an appearance, she will only be used to ferry him around the area. I hope this is okay. I'll make a character sheet for her too, if it's needed.

EDIT 2: DONE!! Is it alright if I bring in a Z-Crystal? I also gave them items. Not sure if this is okay.

EDIT 3: Alright, so I added Zarda's information with the rest of the Pokemon, but as a spoiler. I should also say that Pyros' Pokemon are not the average height.
  • Ninetales is 3'00" (0.91 m) instead of 3'07" (1.1 m).
  • Salazzle is 4'05" (1.3 m) instead of 3'11" (1.2 m).
  • Chandelure is 2'07" (0.79 m) instead of 3'03" (1.0 m).
  • Haxorus is 6'04" (1.9 m) instead of 5'11" (1.8 m).
  • Salamence is 5'05" (1.7 m) instead of 4'11" (1.5 m).
  • Turtonator is 6'00" (1.8 m) instead of 6'07" (2.0 m).
  • Charizard is 6'06" (2.0 m) instead of 5'07" (1.7 m).

Name: Kiran Redmont
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Hometown: Not Important as he is not participating in the Tourney
Appearance: He has short, ruffled light brown hair, and pale green eyes. He's pale and mildly toned as well, standing at 5'10". He dresses very neatly, often in a white dress shirt and black dress pants, and wearing a light coat with the company name "Medicall" on it. He looks not unlike a office worker, actually.
Personality: He's an awkward man, a little worse than Gerald. But a good person at heart. While a bit of a perfectionist, he's moved on from nigh anxious breakdowns when things go south. Still, he's dedicated to the work his father has given him and will prioritize that over his friends...who consist of Gerald and a few others not present.
Backstory: Child of the CEO and owner of Medicall industries, a Pokemon and human based medical company, with the side science division. In any case, Othello Redmont was raised poor and built his career and company from the ground up. As such, he believes Kiran should have to go through similar trials- which involve Kiran calling his father "boss" or "Mr. Redmont", being rigorously taught many subjects (From Math to Pokemon Studies) and expected to raise a Pokemon of his own in Gina, whom he had personally trained to be an assisting surveyor. Kiran's only salvation were "Break days" where Redmont dropped the gig and was actually a father to Kiran.

After the age of 18, Redmont lightened the load of schoolwork for Kiran to do and instead began focusing on office and field work. It was on one of these many field working trips he met Gerald. The two hit it off, despite Gerald being a little...strange. As Kiran's work expanded out into other regions, this gave Gerald an opportunity to hitch a ride to exotic locales.
Team:
Species: Gothitelle
Name: Gina
Gender: Female
Ability: Competitive
Movelist: Heal Pulse, Dark Pulse, Psychic, Telekinesis
Summary: Kiran received Gina when he was younger, intentionally done to allow her to develop her psychic powers. While not often used for battle, Gina still has some combat abilities in the case Kiran gets in a tight spot. But her real utility is her abilities to analyze an area and telepathically relay the information to Kiran.
Other: Cheep cheep
Edit: And I messed up again and posted early. I'll finish this.

Anyways @Takumeme666420 sure they can be rivals, make sense to me.

sorry about the inactivity, i'm back at college and spring breaks over.

@Pretty Pichu Accepted! as for the location, that's fine, but just know he'll be referred to a represenative for Mt. Moon like how others are represenatives for towns/cities

@PKMN_Trainer_Mouse go over the rules again, you're missing something

@DoggoKing since the rp has just started and we haven't actually done much, theres spots open. we have an even 8 tournament at the moment, so we'd have to bump it up to 12 to make things even again. that is, unless you just want a character as a spectator, since that's allowed.

I'm almost done with my Pokemon sheets, but Pyros is now done. I just need to add the Pokemon's personality and quick history and their moves.

EDIT: Completely done with my sheet :D I'll make Charizard's now if you need that. She won't be used during the contest though.

I would also like to ask if Pyros is able to help with the setting up of the ceremony. He's such a nice boy, and he's bound to find people who need his muscles XD but also because Pyros would love to help set up the ceremony and be on good terms with everyone to make sure nothing bad happens and he gets blamed off-handedly for it (which I doubt will happen, but just in case).

But the problem is, my character lives in New Bark Town, and that’s already taken
I mean, there's always work arounds. My character lives in Lumiose yet set his town as Mauville cause he was born there. You can easily swap to Cherrygrove or something close by, or have the character live somewhere else despite being born in the town.

Yeah my guys the same way he's current living at the Sinnoh pokemon league because he's preparing for his elite 4 challenge but he's from Snowbelle

@Pretty Pichu Don't worry, everything checks out. i encourage everyone to help add detail to their post and worldbuild. as for the charizard, having her is alright but just be aware you're only able to use the 6 listed originally in the bio in any kind of battle, thanks!

@PKMN_Trainer_Mouse accepted now, thanks for editing

at this point im being really free and open with how many characters were accepting, and at the moment i don't see really any limit since we really don't have much story yet. if anyone wants to make an additional character, feel free to.

yes, there are spaces still up since we just started

@DoggoKing accepted, the tournament is going to be played in a 3v3 format, so please add on at least 2 other pokemon

keep in mind since were rping battles out, you need to give some good reasons as to why you think your character should win! this is all taking into account whatever experience your trainer has and what kind of team they own among other things.

My character is extremely competitive and thinks he should win because he has won many tournaments around the regions and won many gym battles. Even with his two types of Pokemon, he actually does have a lot of coverage from all the moves his Pokemon knows, and because he only trained two kinds of Pokemon, his Pokemon are generally stronger because he spent more time training them. Plus, he lives on a ranch, so his Pokemon trains with the rest of his siblings' Pokemon, making them even stronger and they teach each other how to fight others of their species. Even though his flaws are his lack of a balanced team, and that his strategy is plowing through defenses and being slightly reckless, he is quite smart and will plow through defenses, so the Pokemon won't have defenses to use to protect themselves and he can overwhelm them with speed and power. Although, another problem is that most of his team are sweepers, while he has one tank. That will be his downfall, since most of them are glass cannons.

Oh, don't get mad at me. Vaultie said something about explaining why your character should win, so I made reasons why, while also coming up with flaws. His Pokemon fight brutally, so be careful when up against him. I won't shy away from making it detailed.

Also, if we want to use Showdown to determine who would win, you can always use a Vikavolt with Zap Cannon (50% accuracy) and use it as some kind of coin flip for both of you to see. Bet on if it will hit or miss and if you are right, then your character will win. Only use this idea if you and your opponent don't care or if you both care and both want to win. That way, we don't get a drawn out battle.

Well, Gerald's no slouch. He might be academically dumb, but he's fairly smart at one thing- reacting. Gerald can see something, think ahead of what might happen, and react accordingly. This doesn't always work if course- quality beats quantity always, and he sacrifices any sort of strategy in favor of reacting to a situation as fast as possible. But when it does work, Gerald is an nigh unpredictable "genius".

At least, that's the gist of it. In situations that have escalated he is much more stuttery and has trouble getting commands out.

Anyways, I'll have a post up soon. Sorry for taking so long :p

We already talked about that showdown battles and RP battles are completely different. There is no creativity in showdown and the moves can not be used in different ways, so a battle there and a battle here would yield completely different results. So we can't use it to see who will win, or it will be grossly inaccurate. A simple Zap Cannon on a fast Pokemon would yield something similar to a heads or tails/flip a coin thing, which would work. Plus, Pokemon can last longer in these battles than Showdown. So there's another factor. Plus, I am not good at battling anyone, and I know others are not that great either. Most of us won't know the strategy on fighting competitively, so we would most likely lose. As an alternative to Showdown, we could also have judges not from this RP judge our fighting posts and see who should win.

Alright, first post cooked up. I decided to have the Mudkip indirectly show the features of his tablet while thinking about what he should do. (Since I'm pretty sure that a Pokémon isn't exactly going to be handing several notes to the cashier at the shop without anyone batting an eye or two at him.)

@Sonicsshaymin you're missing a LOT. you didn't even use the formatting i put up in the very first post. i hate to turn people down, but i'm going to have to say this RP might not be for you.

anyways, Pichu has made a lot of good points and im glad that this discussion thread is actually being used. regarding showdown, while its a better way to realistically determine a winner based on team composition, there are a lot of issues revolving around RNG. i dont blame others if they prefer RP battles over showdown.

i think once we get things really started, i'll change the vote to be who should be the overall winner, or decide who should win in bracket battles if the two battling can't decide.
