It would be awesome if they made the hoenn remakes but theres a chance that they may not because ruby and sapphire are on the GBA generation and can be accessed 2 the DS by migrating unlike blue, red, gold, silver etc couldnt.

There's too high of a chance of those being remade, when you think about it they have a certain repetition when releasing games.
But also there's been word that they're trying to get all the games onto the Nintendo DS series so you don't have to rely on the older games anymore to complete your pokédex.

I don't quite understand the name choices you picked for the poll. Wouldn't it be best not to guess at potential names in this case?

Either way, not only am I fairly certain that Hoenn remakes are on their way (I'd be surprised if they weren't) - I want them. Bad precedent or not, I liked Hoenn and I'd love to journey through it again with the new type split mechanics, the new triple battle mechanics, the new moves, and the new graphics.

In my eyes the reason Gens I and II were remade wasn't simply to flesh them out. It was to share them with a brand new generation of Pokemon fans who were previously too young to play them/enjoy them. Whether this is a good practice or not, it makes sense and it makes money. I can definitely see it becoming a pattern of theirs, and I honestly don't mind it. Nobody is forcing the older fans to buy the remakes, so if we choose to do so we really have nothing to complain about.

That all said, I'd love to see a proper Hoenn sequel created or a remake of Emerald (and just Emerald). Either would be nice and change up the formula of the remakes. Whatever happens, it probably won't be released for several years.

Well, I just think those would be good canidates for the names considering the names of Green and Red's remakes: FireRed and LeafGreen. So they would probobly be named LavaRuby and Sea Sapphire, but if they're not, I'll change it to the real name.

I think they will make remakes of Ruby and Sapphire. In Platinum, Jasmine showed up in Sunyshore, and in HGSS Steven showed up at Silph Co. I smells a pattern.

i really think they should make a new rpg of R.S. but different storyline . keep team magma and aqua but make them more evil or sumthing or geta new team that represents rayquaza ,although idk wut theyre goal for the world wuld be?

I would like to see how they could advance the games for, hopefully, the 3DS.
I thought HG and SS brought gen. II to the next level and I would definately enjoy the next remakes.

I would be sad if they didn't remake the games from my favorite region.
If the remakes come, I'm going to buy either, probably SeaSapphire.

And why won't they remake Ruby and Sapphire? :)

ooOOOooo I think I'll get lavaruby? Is thats what its called? It was my favorite game It would be awesome if they do make it!

I don't think they would be called that, actually.

But Ruby was an amazing game, my first-ever Pokemon game actually, and I would relish in the chance for remixed music, new features, and incredibly lush Hoenn region in DS--or even 3DS--form.

Personally, I'm hoping for 'Solar Ruby' and 'Lunar Sapphire' ... 'Lava Ruby' and 'Sea Sapphire' just ... don't sound right to me.

... but anyways, I don't really feel a desperate need for RS remakes (yet). Gen III games aren't nearly as, well, 'outdated' as those of Gens I and II, and besides, they're compatible with the newer games. So I won't be outraged/shocked/disappointed if they don't release RS remakes this generation.

(First post >_<)

Sorry guys, but I found out Nintendo's emails address, so I wrote to them asking about Hoenn remakes and saying how Khangaskhan desperately needed a pre-evolved form. They wrote back. Here is what they wrote:
Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your feedback regarding Kangaskhan and the need for a pre-evolved form. Unfortunately, I don't have any advance information about the Pokemon characters the game designers will include in future games. We will have to wait to see what they come up with.

Hoenn is the region that appears in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. I haven't heard of any plan to remake any of these games.

See? They will not make any Hoenn remakes any time soon. Sorry, but this is coming from Nintendo. It's the truth. The sad truth. =(
And for all of you who desperately want to know if this is the truth, ask them yourself. Their email is:

Alright, I'm sorry but I can't ... read ... your post ... at all.
Remakes of remakes? Ehh ......

@Thepokemontrainer
Aw.
(I wouldn't abandon all hope yet, though, just in case.)
I kind of got excited about remakes after realizing that if there were RS remakes, then we'd get to see Ruby and Sapphire in PokeSpe again ...

That's because in HGSS, you're able to trade with DPPt, so there's really no point in having the Sinnoh starters there. The Kanto starters are included because it would be way to tedious to import and trade, and a bunch of people may not have access to those games, or access to someone who does. This also holds true for the Hoenn starters as well. It's also kind of hard to complain about the Johto starters, I mean, it is a Johto remake.

Yeah, but they dont have to worry about them till later because they are too busy workingBlack and White in America, Then they will be making the 3rd game in Gen. 5, THEN Hoenn Remakes. It may take a while, but they WILL get there.

If they do make them, do you think they will use the same route 101 music they use for hoenn sound in HGSS?

Not sure actually...They could, but then again, HGSS used GSC remixes for Kanto instead of pulling music from FireRed and LeafGreen. I think they'd probably use all new remixed stuff from RSE instead of the music from HGSS, but you never know XD

I just want to go to Hoenn again in the beautiful scenery-porn graphics of Gen V. I'll buy a Gen III remake of Sapphire and/or I will also buy a new story based in Hoenn. It matters not to me because Hoenn is my favorite region and I would love to revisit it.

I'm sure that one is in development or will be soon. Either way, I doubt they'd just go around relaying the information through e-mails when the games haven't even been officially announced yet.

Well, I really don't believe in a pre-evolution for kangaskhan nor a pre-evo that would evolve into either Miltank or Taurus. I would like them, but I don't think they'll be made. But this only states there's no confirmation on new remakes nor pre-evos. Doesn't mean they won't be made. Also, I don't believe in Hoenn remakes, while I do believe a Hoenn game will be made. It's like this: Gen. I and Gen III happened on a unknown year. Gens. II and IV happens three years after that year. Gen V happens even more after than Gens. II and IV. This is the first time since Gen. II that the most recent Gen. doesn't happen at the same time with a Generation before. So it's possible that Hoenn games will be made that happen more-or-less 7 years after Ruby or Saphire. Again, the fact that there's no information about it doesn't mean it's not going to happen, or that there's no planning being made. Maybe the dude who answered is just the "answerer" of the Big N, and knew about future plans as much as we do.

But now it's time to more speculation X3! Wouldn't be cool if we find out that Brendan/May became the Gym Leader in the place of Norman? Even if they didn't, It would be cool having them to appear in the game in some way. And Tate and Liza would be Teenagers! And since the majority of the other Gym Leaders and Elite Four would be super old, there would be new people in their places? I would also like to see older version of other player characters from Gens. I to IV, like the Gen V player characters, who are older than the previous 11 year old protagonists.

Agreed about the answerer part. While I think that since they aren't the part of Nintendo that decides this, I also think that even if they did, then they wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't tell us. Other than that, I think they could pass with older characters, however I also they'll remodel them too. Look at Crystal, and her replacement Lyra. Something tells me they'll screw with Brendan's hair-do.

First: If the white thing is his hair it's already screwed.

Second: Y' know that that is not hair, do you? It's a very weird hat, as demonstrated in the Pokémon adventure manga. His hair is black, and even appears below his hat.

The Pokemon Adventure manga just came up with there own interpretation of the hat/hair thing, this is not confirmed in the games and is therefore not "canon" true. (Besides, when look at the crazy hair colors of all the other characters in the Pokemon games a white-haired ten-year-old isn't that odd.)

About the remakes though, I said pretty much the same thing that snetonobre said in a thread about the same topic somewhere else on the forum a few weeks ago. There is no immediate connection of B/W with any other games, so Gen III doesn't have the easy tie-in. Also, with Gen. V Nintendo and Gamefreak wanted a "restart" of the series essentially. I mean, there are absolutely no old Pokemon in the games before the National Dex, and Unova is so very far away from all other regions. I could definitely see there being no remakes in Generation V, and I really wouldn't bat an eye about it.

That being said, Nintendo will probably do something to milk that cash cow some more because they know we'll all buy the games... T-T

He does have black sideburns in is Emerald and black hair showing in his back sprites so either he's wearing a hat or he has a Hatsuharu thing going on (google image it if you don't know who he is XD)

But back to the subject, I can now see where there wouldn't be a remake, but I still think there is a shot at one. There's no rule that there -has- to be a tie in to BW in order for a remake to happen. Not to mention BW reminds me heavily of RSE because of the amount of new Pokemon 'groundbreaking-ness.' I'd more than bat an eye if there weren't remakes. I fully admit I'd be extremely pissed because essentially Hoenn would be like Johto was in Gen III--only with a distant connection instead of no connection to the current games.

There are never any -real- reasons for remakes, but that never makes them any less cool or desired.

"There's no rule that there -has- to be a tie in to BW in order for a remake to happen"

Yes, there is, because trades can't happen with something from the past. And you would be able to trade pokémon from Black/White games with the remake. That's why, even if Hoenn games do appear, they won't be Remakes.

Err, not what I meant dude XD I don't even know how what I said could be construed to mean that.

I meant a story tie in. Of course there has to be connection between the two for trades to happen << Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum dropped many inconclusive hints about Johto, but Hoenn didn't have many hints about Kanto.

Yes, but at that time they didn't knew what they were doing. Separating moves from special to physical depending of their types is a example of this.

You know, i always thought their would be hoenn remakes, i just never got to a name for them, i thought about redruby, and bluesapphire, but now i think lava ruby and sea sapphire are the best ideas now.

I think that they will make 1 at least whether they change it or not.... (its a business ppl will buy it)
I think they shud make sky emerald nd thunder yellow with new characters not revamps of brendan/may/red/leaf nd make the old hero the champion of the elite four :D

Uhhh... I don't know... Remakes or an entirely new game for Hoenn would be appreciated but will it really happen? It would be cool if they would include older playable characters like in GSC/HGSS they had Red (though it would have been even cooler if they would have made it based on your gender, ie: you pick Lyra - Leaf appears intstead of Red, as it is a sequel of FRLG). I would love to see a sequel for BW as N disappears in the end of the game. The remake of Gen III/sequel of BW taking place in Hoenn could include Team Plasma who has been revived by N and Geechisu as he was rescued by Dark Trinity and they have set its sights on Groudon and Kyogre. And they could include Touya/Touko in it as he/she(would be cool if it is depending on player's gender) chases them and helps the player sometimes like Steven. And it would be really awesome if Touya/Touko would be the champion. But overall I think they should remake Emerald.

Although I want a remake with Emerald's Battle Frontier, I've come to my senses with the fact that if you still have a, what, 8 year old save file on Ruby and/or Sapphire you can still transfer them to BW. Albeit quire in-directly.

I just reckon Nintendo will add R/S to the 3DS Shop with wireless, wi-fi and cleared up maps/graphics.

I can just imagine it ....
Same story plot as the original but all 3D and cool looking features like the new pokemon games .

But will there be new Pokemon ...?

I agree with Lady Carmen and some one like Doctor oak,i would be sad if they remake the whole storyline again, that mean we have to play it one more time with same gym leaders and rivals and trainers,... that's just awful...

Geez, either their running out of ideas or their just getting lazy... o-O Poke'mons been around for more than a fracking decade!

I'm going to agree with Linkachu on this. Even after seeing the e-mail from Nintendo, I still say that the remakes are going to happen. It may e a good while, but sooner or later, the games will be made. Plus, as someone else mentioned, Nintendo executives can lie just as easily as anyone else, so why would they feel obligated to tell us that they've got a ew remake under production? After all, look at how they tried to conceal Black and White's information.

If, or more reasonably, when these games are made, I'm bound to get either or.

I think it would be great if they made remakes of Ruby and Sapphire since I (though have played about 15 minutes in) have never played any Gen III game (Except for Fire Red) I was a Gen IV kid and didn't even hear about any region but Sinnoh for years. I think the remakes are for the kids that weren't able to play the older games because they were too young(and hunting down some of the older games is like looking for a needle in a hay stack) but is also a trip down memory lane for those who grew up with the games with tweaks to make it more like the gen it comes out in.And when Pokemon remakes of Diamond and Pearl come out Ill be the first to by em!
