Wow, the Budew evolved!

Both Dan and Snivy had been surprised at the mid-battle evolution, but they also knew they had to answer quickly as Dan called for Snivy to jump in the air with the use of Vine Whip. Snivy used her elongated vines to propel herself into the pair, but even if her main body avoided the poison attacks the vines connected to her took a hit which caused the grass type to wince in pain.

"Use Leaf Tornado!" Dan called out as dozens and doaznes of leaves appeared around Snivy as she was in the air before the grass snake fired them all at the newly evolved Roselia and the intent had been to pummel it with multiple leaves while Snivy tried to suck in the pain it had felt from the poison attack earlier.

Although the ferry wasn't due to depart for at least an hour or so more, trainers began boarding the boat in earnest. Sid-Roggoth had retreated into cover, hiding under the bed that came with his bronze-class cabin purchased by Lilith. As one might expect from the quality, it was a shared cabin, with only a thin screen separating the beds. At one point, a young man sporting a goatee breezed through the door and plopped right on top of the bed he was under. Sid-Roggoth could hear him exhale from weariness, before the man reached down and rifled through his suitcase. He paused suddenly, mid-shuffle, and seemed to listen for something. Sid-Roggoth could hear it too: a slapping sound coming from the corner, just behind a grounded desk. The man got up and shuffled uncertainly, peering warily around the side of the desk.

"What the-?"

There, still alive and flopping on the floor, was Jane's Feebas. The fish pokemon simply refused to die.

Zoroark fled onto the boat and to the Bronze-class part of the ship. Still looking like a Herdier at the same time. No matter. He was asked by the Sid-Roggoth boy about a favour, and he fulfilled that favour, so he decided to join the guy in waiting for the ferry to leave.

Stumbling into Lilith’s room of which she was renting till the ferry landed at the identical Infernius port, the Zoroark watched as a man was shuffling through a suitcase of his. The Zoroark in disguise as a Herdier went over and grabbed the Feebas. The one Jane pointed out on the port before her breakdown. Though the Zoroark never got to meet Jane, the Feebas was probably going to pass eventually. The Zoroark maintaining the facade of a Herdier, made a small whimper. If he could, he’d shift his illusion to Egoraptor’s appearance, but this was not the time and the place to do that. Or pull out a bicycle.

Chlorist got hit with the full force of Leaf Tornado, and although it wasn't every effective, it did at least some damage. However, after the attack ended, the Pokémon still looked at Snivy with those determined eyes.

"Try Magical Leaf!" James shouted. The Roselia summoned sharp leaves which were covered with a magenta aura and then threw them at the opposing Snivy.

Much like the Roselia, Snivy had been pummeled by the multiple leaves fired at her as it wasn't effective, but still did some damage all the same as Dan figured he needed to do something and decided to take advantage of Snivy's position in the air even as the grass snake had began to descend back to the ground.

"Wrap up Roselia with Vine Whip! Then pull it up and slam it to the ground!" Dan called out as Snivy launched two of her elongated vines towards the Roselia below as Dan aimed to wrap it up with them and have Snivy pull Roselia up to slam it against the ground below while Snivy was still high in the air. Given the type matchup Dan had limited options, so he had to get creative though whether this worked in practice or not remained to be seen.

James inhaled sharply as he saw Chlorist get slammed into the ground by the Vine Whip. However, the Pokémon managed to stand back up, though her bruises became more apparent.

"Chlorist, Poison Sting one more time!" he shouted. The Roselia put her rose hands in front of her and released a barrage of poisonous needles once more.

Dan grimaced as Snivy had been pelted with the Poison Sting attack, which not only damaged Snivy but also poisoned her as indicated by a poison "blush" on her face which matched a fever shade. Dan knew he had limited time to work with given Snivy had not returned to ground level so Dan figured he should go for broke.

"Charge a Solar Beam!"

Snivy nodded as the grass snake began to absorb the sun-light while she began to move light on her feet. Dan needed time to launch the attack, time he figured that James was not gonna be generous and allow him so Snivy would have to avoid or endure whatever came from Roselia as the attack charged.

Through the pain, Snivy managed to gather the energy as she fired a powerful blast aimed right at the Roselia.

James was surprised by the sudden attack, and didn't have enough time to react to the Solar Beam. Neither did Chlorist. The attack hit her, causing there to be smoke. After it subsided, James could see that the Roselia had fainted. He sighed and returned his last Pokémon. "Good job, Chlorist. I know you tried really hard. You even evolved for me. I'm sorry I just wasn't a good enough trainer," he said as he looked at his Pokéball.

Then James looked up and gave a small grin. "Thanks for the great battle. It helped me remember how much fun Pokémon battles are," he shouted over to Dan with a thumbs up. Then he began turning around back towards the room. As he sat down, he heard the speaker once more.

"That was an amazing battle! Next up, Ike and Nathanael!"

James sighed once more, and looked up at the screen to see the next fight.

Ike stepped up to the stage. It was his turn to battle. His opponent was a boy named Nathaniel. "Good luck over there!" Ike called. Nathaniel grinned and nodded. "Trainers, release your Pokemon!" The announcer called. "Alright, Magby, do it!" Nathaniel yelled. "Noi, you're up!" Ike sent out Noibat. The battle was in session

"Noi, Supersonic!" Ike yelled. Noi confused the Magby with a sound wave only Pokemon could hear. "Magby, no! Fire spin, go!" Yelled Nathaniel. Magby, confused, put itself in its fire spin. Now Magby would take additional damage for a few turns. Ike smirked. "Now, Noi, wing attack!" Noi attacked Magby with her wings, and the Magby was already being burnt by the fire spin. Magby fainted, and Nathaniel sent out Lotad. "Lotad, bubble!" Lotad sent out bubbles from its mouth which did very little damage to the dragon-flying type Noibat. "Noi, use bite!" Noi bit into Lotad, doing some damage. "Follow it with wing attack!" Ike yelled. Wing attack did double damage because of Lotad's type disadvantage, and Lotad fainted. Nathaniel finally sent out his final Pokemon, a Nidorino. "Nidorino, Peck!" The poison type hit Noi with all its force with its horn in the form of a flying attack, causing Noi to faint. "Darn, that was good. Go, Geck!" Grovyle appeared. "Geck, use pursuit!" Geck literally smacked the Poison Pin Pokemon with its hand, while it was enveloped in some dark aura. The Nidorino could no longer escape, even though it didn't matter. This was Nathaniel's last Pokemon. "Damn," Nathaniel said, "I was hoping to use this later." He then threw a stone out on to his Nidorino. It was enveloped in a blue light, and evolved into a Nidoking. "I guess it's fair, though, considering that all you needed was a moon stone. Now, Double Kick!" The Nidoking charged Geck, its two legs enveloped in white. "Geck, Leaf Blade!" Geck nodded and both of his elbow blades were enveloped in green. He also charged the Nidoking, and they began fighting it out. Since both moves were normally effective, it was up to whoever had more HP. In the end, Geck fainted, leaving the Nidoking with only a few hit points to its name. "Karp, let's do this!" Ike roared, sending out his Magikarp. "Tackle, go!" The Fish Pokemon used tackle, hitting Nidoking full force, and causing it to faint because of its previous battle scars. Karp was enveloped in a blue light as well, and evolved into the one... the only... Gyarados!

The battle ended, with Ike being the victor. The next trainers to fight were being decided soon, so Ike went to the stands and waited.

The tournament ended, Ike ended up being the victor. James went to the cruise/ferry and immediately went to bed. He woke up to hearing a noise coming from his phone, causing him to get his glasses and look at his screen. It read:

Uncle Harry

However nearly immediately after James read it the screen turned off, and upon turning it back on there was no notification or sign of James's uncle calling him. James then decided to go back to bed.

Upon waking up, James remembered what happened last night but when he checked his phone to the call having never appeared, he figured it was a dream. James changed into normal clothes and ate breakfast served inside the cruise/ferry. Once finishing there was a speaker saying the ship had reached Infernius Isle, causing James to leave and enter the volcano island.
