Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
You'll still be able to access YouTube, 'Charms, and all your other sites – at least for the foreseeable future, and probably even beyond. I'll explain the exact specifics in this thread.
*Aquaman barely manages to push the door open as a lot of water comes out of his room* W- worried?! Umm uhh... w- w- what's the w- w- word I'm looking for again?! *woosh woosh*
*the spout on Aquaman's head seems to be pouring out more water than ever before* I'm not sure about that first part of what @Teapot said since I heard that the FCC can now ultimately censor things like North Korea does... *woosh*
Another thing: Net Neutrality has only been in place since 2015. If the repeal is approved by Congress, the change won’t be as disastrous as social media is making it look like. Trust us.
@Aquaman but there is no internet in North Korea. They have something else called kwangmyeong, and I'm pretty sure that net neutrality being repealed wouldn't involve the removal of the entire internet from America.
I think explaining this all is going to involve a thread really. But the internet isn't going anywhere, it's just going back to how it was in 2015 – for example, Verizon once throttled Netflix (so it was slow for their customers) because Netflix wouldn't pay them lots of money. It's not good news, but it's not "end of the internet" bad. And several states are already suing to stop the new rules being put into place.
I think I can help. I found a few documents from several very reputable sources (mainly because the sources are the people who made and defined Net Neutrality back in 2015 when Obama was still president).
The first one is about the myths and facts about Net Neutrality and its repeal. The other one is a huge PDF about Net Neutrality, what it's about, and how to "restore" Internet Freedom.
*Aquaman's MindProg is full of RAM at the moment, as it seems as if even a tiny Navi like him needs to process everything and distinguish truth from lie* I'm just hoping that I can at least trust something before everything goes south... *drip drip*
Fun fact- There is one steam account in North Korea. Kim's gotta play his TF2 somehow!
Anyways, Net Neutrality being repealed is not only getting the FCC sued by multiple sources, but also it hasn't even gotten through congress yet. So far, so good.
