If there's a certain problem that we should be aware of, please report it in the Questions and Site Feedback forum - if the problem is on our end rather than yours, we should be made aware of it so our developers might be able to look into the problem.

it was TWO tests. i was trying to see if it was a problem with the way i formatted my post. i would have deleted them when i saw that it wasn't.

No worries - no harm was done and no warnings were given - I'm just saying that if you're running into a recurring issue, this might not be the best way to handle it. XD

(Incidentally, if you're concerned about server errors cropping up from no where, you could try to upload the work without all the bells and whistles first, then edit it in bits and pieces until you manage to get it to look the way you want it to)

unfortunately, i am new here despite the date shown on my profile, and i don't actually know how to use the site. i didn't want to fuck up in public by writing in the wrong forum.
also, wouldn't that be counterproductive? i have no way to post things as a draft, so it'd be up there as a half post and i don't necessarily want that.

You don't sound like a bitch, no worries - I know what it's like to lose a ton of work due to some arbitrary glitch and it is frustrating as *frell*. You are in good company here. XD

Alright - if you don't want to have half-posts done, here's a little suggestion for the future (going to make that a second message because blasted twitter-esque 140 character limit will be the death of me)

Just like everywhere else on the forum, there's a little button with a wrench on it on the top-right corner of the text box when you create a new written work (it should say "Use BB Code Editor" when you hover over it). After you've done messing with all the formatting, but before you hit submit, click that button, select everything in the text box, copy it and paste it in, say, a notepad file or something.

This way, if the server has another phenomenal moment of derp, and hiccups again, you can create a new work, switch the text box to BBcode mode, paste the thing you just copypasted back in there, and then try to submit again. All going well, everything you've done should stick.

hm, it still gave me the server error?
also, i haven't been LOSING my content, it just says "The following error occurred:
A server error occurred. Please try again later." in a dialog box that i can close and return to my work

is there a maximum amount of tags i'm allowed to have? some other limitation i'm breaking? i'm :eyes: at all of this

To be fair - I'm not entirely sure myself, but I'm going to tag our Developer in this as they would probably be able to give you a better answer than I can whenever they wake up and see this. Do save the code for whatever you've done as a text file or something so you don't lose it in case something happens.

Check your tags. You may get an error if the tags are invalid when you submit the work.

but what does invalid MEAN? i tend to ramble in my tags, so... you know.

Try posting without them for now. You can edit them back in. In short; make sure they’re lowercase, not too long, and comma-separated. If you want to ramble, do so in the description - the tags don’t support Tumblr-style “the post is actually in the tags” rambles.
