Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
It was "eh," I guess? I mean, I ignored most of it. Didn't help that the library had a giant fucking 30-by-60 ft.plasma screen monitor on their lobby wall that was streaming the event, so even with headphones on and me glued to Showdown I couldn't really escape it.
The speech itself, whenever I did tune in, was like every other speech. A lot of complaining, a lot of blunt truth, ect. He did, however, pull a few "I have no problems with Christians; people can be whoever they want to be; I love all sexes/nationalities/religions" statements.
Though, I -am- glad I live off campus. All students who are living on campus were REQUIRED to actually show up in person for the event. Guess I got off lucky there.
Unfortunately, several kids had that same idea, and they were either tagged by security or earned absence points for their no-show. (get enough of those and it could affect your GPA)
See, I feel like that shouldn't be a thing, but I read enough American law blogs to know that, sadly, it really is. It's a sad day when a university takes attendance at a political speech!
(My other solution would be a large "Fuck Donald Trump" placard or t-shirt, but I am also aware that universities have not much regard for the First Amendment!)
That really sucks, Volt x-x it's a shame that you guys have some stupid attendance policy like that, ugh. I would've totally just skipped because that's bullshit :/

But that speech couldn't have been that bad. How was it, if I may ask?
