DPPt/HGSS The quest for the perfect GENGAR

Im training a new Gengar that Im planing to use in competitive mode. I want to make it a real good sweeper, but I still have trouble deciding what would be the best moveset for it. I have some options and would like to hear opinions on which moves should be better:

Gengar (Timid)

Moves I have in mind

Shadowball att 80 acc100(STAB)
Thunderbolt att95 acc100
Psychc att90 acc100
Hidden Power(ICE) att 70 acc100
Giga drain att60 acc100 (half damage goes to healt)
Sludge Bomb(STAB) acc90 acc 100 30% of poisoning
Dark Pulse att80 acc100
Hyper Beam att150 acc90 leaves user immobile next turn
Hidden Power(FIGHT) att 70 acc100

I'd prefer this moveset:-

In Fr/Lg

Gengar@ Leftovers

Thunder Bolt
Brick Break/Protect
Shadow Ball
Sludgebomb/Explosion

In R/S/E

Gengar@Focus Band
ThunderPunch/Bolt
Brick Break
Psychic
Shadow Ball

In D/P

Gengar@spooky Plate
Dark Pulse
Shadow Claw
Poison Jab
Thunder/Bolt

I would go with

Gengar: Spooky plate/Big root (If your going to use Giga drain)

Shadowball (Stab, and for psychics)
Pyschic
HP Fighting (good for Darks)
Giga drain/Thunderbolt

Sludge bomb wont really help with too many weaknesses anyways, so, yeah... this is what I thought of.

o.O

That's a.... kind of not good moveset. You have THREE Ghost-type moves there. Not. Good.

Gengar
-Shadow Ball
-Sludge Bomb
-Psychic/Dark Pulse
-Confuse Ray

Gengar has really high Special Attack and really low Attack, so physical moves like Shadow Punch just suck on Gengar.

Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb are for STAB.

Your choice between Psychic and Dark Pulse, and Confuse Ray is able to mess up a lot of things, it'll come in handy.

I'm dissapointed to see no Hypno-Dream Eater-Combo here. Like Sem said, Shadow Punch would make the weird guy on the other end of the Wi-Fi connection laugh.

I would use Confuse Ray as well, if you think you need it of course.

It's annoying.

And thats funny, lol.

Substitute is nice if he also knows Toxic. You fill in the pieces.
