The sound of chirping gave a spark to Lily’s senses. She had been roused from her slumber early in the morning, as was her usual schedule. At least an hour or two before the sun could be seen cresting the horizon. As her father said, ‘the early bird gets the worm’, though she saw something different than the practicality of being an early riser.
The cool and crisp air of a truly new morning had a certain lonely beauty to it that she couldn’t quite describe, though she herself felt out of place in such a lovely environment.
Her messy blonde hair and groggy complexion betrayed any attempt to make herself look like she’d gotten a good night’s sleep. Not that it mattered too much to her, as she wasn’t exactly out to win any beauty contests like those fashionistas in the big city. It was hard to maintain hair styles or makeup when doing manual labor all day. For the most part she’d been more functional, and just tied her hair behind her into a ponytail.
Camping in the forest was never comfortable, and oftentimes Lily would reminisce on the occasional naps she took in piles of hay back at her family’s farm. It was especially nice after getting hit with exhaustion following a long day. Her body and mind found a peace there that could never quite be emulated during her travels...but she didn’t regret leaving her home for even a second. Her will to aid Team Rocket in their efforts drove her to seize every day.
Pressing the button on the device she used as an alarm clock, Lily sat up inside her tent, still swaddled in her sleeping bag. She took a moment to stare blankly at the inside of her small, one-person tent, as well as her green sleeping bag that she felt made her look like a Caterpie.
The tent breathed as small gusts of wind made the tarp shift and rustled some of the trees outside. After changing out of her sleeping clothes, Lily unzipped the entrance of the tent and set out to start her day. Leaves applauded, and branches swayed. There was a slight nip in the air, but all in all she’d felt colder. It was certainly nothing a little bit of walking wouldn’t cure, and a little bit of food.
After disassembling and putting her tent away, Lily proceeded to rekindle her fire from the night before and reheated some of the soup she’d made for herself in her thermos.
While the delicious smell of her morning meal wafted through the air of her makeshift campsite, Lily used a hair-tie to pull her long hair back and into a ponytail. It had become a habit whenever she felt particularly productive in a day, which was usually every morning.
Today, she was determined to catch a rare pokemon. One that would surely help her rise in ranks within the Team Rocket organization. Today, she was going to capture a Gengar.
Local folklore spoke of the elusive pokemon residing in an abandoned mansion deep in the forests off of Route 5. Trainers would occasionally come to the mansion to try and capture this fiendish ghost-type, only for their pokemon to be bested, and for the trainers themselves to be scared off.
Not Lily, though. She was sure she would be strong enough to take on this pokemon, as well as avoid whatever creepy tricks it had up its sleeve. Today, that gangar would belong to Team Rocket.
