• A reminder: If you want to ask an RP thread creator if you can join their RP, do so in private - via conversation or profile messages - or via the thread's discussion thread, if one exists. Do NOT ask if you can join an RP on the RP thread itself! This leads to a lot of unnecessary OOC chatter and that's not what the RP boards are for.

This is clearly stated in our RP forum rules. If you've not read them yet, do so BEFORE posting anything in the RP forums. They may be found here (for Pokémon Role Play) or here (for General Role Play). Remember that the Global Rules of Pokécharms also apply in addition to these rule sets.

Ask to Join MEAU

The year is 3030, and the world is in shambles. As the tension between nations grew, wars broke out like dandelions during the summer. Each war was bloody and meaningless, thousands of lives were lost at each encounter and neither side had an advantage enough to end it, so they just drew out into a never ending conflict. That was, until Japan changed the game. Japan introduced the first MEAU in a battle against China, it was a small unit of 10 men, but they were immensely powerful. They were cyborgs- people that had been engineered with robotic parts that made them as strong as 20 regular men. The battle was quick and effortless, Japan's victory took the world by surprise- and every single country wanted in on the latest technology. Unfortunately, there was one major flaw in the MEAU- the life expectancy. Only 13 hours after their installation and launch, Japan's unit died. And every nation found themselves with the same problem.
The only way to mechanically engineer a human, a chip must be inserted into their brain which connects with the robotic gear they work with. And a few week's of global research found that the only way the chip could be installed without causing fatal brain damage, is if the target's brain is severely under developed. Children. Obviously, this causes a moral dilemma. However, for some countries- they find no problem with sending the children to war. It didn't take long for the battlefield to change, and eventually most countries had 6-12 year olds fighting each other to the death. Most developed countries, however, found this socially unacceptable, and withdrew completely from the wars.

The world was divided into war zones and areas that intended to advance their technology and soon return to war. No place was at peace, although the United States of America was at rest. That is... until their breakthrough discovery. With a few adjustments and calculated risks, the United States government figured out how to create an MEAU using young adults. Aged between 18 and 20, this group's brain isn't fully developed, but they are beyond well enough to fend for themselves in war. They are quick to act, conscripting over half the population out of high school. While some volunteer for money or honor, others are forced to participate by a mandatory draft. Today is the first ever American MEAU formation and you, for whatever reason, are apart of it. The first step to your journey will be a test of courage and strength, a test that will pick out the best 500 from the draft who will continue on to become the MEAU of America.

Despite how much open space the government had invested into the training program, they still insisted on cramming all 500 kids into the small auditorium for the opening ceremony. There were no seats, just a bunch of strangers standing close enough that they were practically touching one another and having a hard time hearing what the speaker in the front was saying. It had only been 20 minutes since the initiation ceremony had begun, and despite the fact that the real test hadn't even started yet, there had already been drop outs. Approximately 2 months ago, every single person in the room had received a draft letter that served as a mandatory invitation for the entrance exam to become one of the first members of the MEAU of America. It was a chilly fall morning, but the room was hot with breaths of anticipation- and when the speaker finally excused the room, the participants flooded out of every door and into the open space that seemed to span for miles.
Currently, the recruits were restricted by large security guards from passing into the city-like terrain that would serve as their testing grounds. The guards didn't speak, but their large guns were enough for most of the kids to know better than test them. Finally, a middle-aged woman in a lab coat pushed past the guards to address the crowd with a mega phone. "We request your patience at this time!" the woman called out, "The test instructions will begin shortly, in the mean time I suggest preparing yourself for both the physical and mental exertion that is to come." the woman's speech was brief, and once finished she quickly disappeared back behind the guards again.

Sid
Sid adjusted his glasses with his index finger, pushing them further up the bridge of his nose before letting them fall back down and settle. The boy's blue eyes anxiously shifted back and forth as he stood, rigid as a log, in the middle of the many other recruits. Sid was confident in his ability to get rejected, he didn't plan on serving in this life threatening arrangement and doubted he'd get anywhere near the cut anyways. And yet, he was still nervous. The large concentration of people didn't help, especially how a few of the loud one's boasted about themselves as if going to war was some special honor. Side intertwined his fingers and fidgeted with his palms for a moment before releasing a long breath of air and consciously slumping his shoulders in hopes that it would help relax him. No matter what happened, the young male knew he was screwed. If he got rejected his father would be pissed, but if he actually got into the program by some miracle, he was as good as dead. It was an unfortunate scenario, really.

Katherine
"Oh, sorry." Kitty apologized quickly after bumping into somebody, walking a few steps away only to crash into yet another body. "Sorry, sorry." the girl frantically apologized again before turning away. She had never been in such a large gathering before, and, frankly, it was a bit overwhelming. Of course, Kitty was excited. She had volunteered to do this, after all, and even trained beforehand. The woman really wanted to get in, she had the full intention of joining the program and making something of herself there. Kitty eventually grounded herself, forcing her feet to stop moving so she could gain control of her emotions. As she stood still, she couldn't repress the grin that slowly crept across her face. She was really doing this, it was sort of like a dream.

Leo
Leo cracked his knuckles as he stood, somewhat patiently, and thought about the words the woman had spoken. "Physical exertion..." as he repeated the words under his breath, a sudden smile cracked across Leo's lips. A test of athletic capabilities? With a competitive spark, Leo's eyes shot up to scan the other people around him and he nodded approvingly. This was going to be easy. Leo stood on his toes before lowering back to the ground excitedly, he rolled his shoulder back and leaned forward slightly in a stretching motion. If he had known it was going to be just like PE class, he wouldn't have complained half as much on the drive down to the facility. The young male rocked back on his heels, growing increasingly impatient with each passing second. He couldn't help but think of the upcoming test as a challenge, one that he fully intended to win.

(Excuse this half-assed post... they'll get better from here)

James stood at the corner of the room quietly, large crowds frightened James and going in them was even worse, he decided to just stand and wait for the tests to start, “This better be worth it, because I’m not going to solitary confinement,” thought James.

Annabeth grit her teeth before delving directly into the heart of the crowd, not bothering to apologize to anyone she jostled. By the time she was close enough to the front to actually hear what the person at the head of the room was saying, they had stepped down and disappeared. The girl shifted uncomfortably, the close quarters bothering her, and she seemed to shrink into herself before deciding that made her look weak. With that thought in mind, she straightened up, practically biting through her cheek to stop herself from screaming. It felt like she was drowning in bodies. I have to do this. I have to find Colt, and to do that I need to pass, and to pass I need to know the rules. Just breathe. She clenched her fists to stop them from shaking, inhaling deeply to calm her nerves.
