"Ah, another connoisseur!" Orion responded in jest, donning an exaggerated refined tone, reveling in the break from sketching. "Behold! The masterpiece awaits your esteemed inspection!"

With a dramatic leap off his bench, Orion unveiled his log page to Tsugikuni, strategically hiding the text above and revealing an ongoing map sketch.

Though not as detailed as the official map, it laid out the campus facilities and their locations. Delightful annotations like Squirrel Citadel #3 and Potential Explorer's Guild HQ? peppered the sketches, hinting at clandestine plans known only to their creator.

"I'm a bit of a Renaissance man, you see," he joked, flaunting his creation. "An intrepid explorer, curious archaeologist, stellar spacefarer, you get the picture. There was also a brief spell as a chicken farmer, but apparently taking home a few eggs cough that may or may not have been fertile cough counts as theft? Farmers, always so touchy, am I right?"

Orion studied Tsugikuni's reaction before clearing his throat and continuing.

"But yes, an artist extraordinaire, as you've discerned! This is a map of the entire campus. It's broad at the moment, lacking detail, but mark my words, I'll leave no corner uncharted as I venture forth!"

Satisfied with his presentation, Orion settled back on the bench, returning to his sketchpad while sneakily observing his new acquaintance.

"And what adventures fill your days, my casually-clad, well-mannered, nature-loving friend?" he casually inquired.

Asuna Ryugetsu
“It’s nice to meet you, Asuna!” Iori smiled. “Yeah, this is Dorm 19. I’m Iori. So you’re the steam girl from earlier?” She stepped out of the doorway, allowing Asuna to come in.

@Cmeriwether (Asuna)

Asuna saw that Iori had stepped out of the doorway to let her into the room.

"My main power is called Steam Engine, which explains the steam." Asuna responded, "I'm going to unpack my stuff, then we can talk a bit more."

Asuna went to unpack in the Unclaimed section of the room, making sure her kimonos, dresses, and other clothes that needed hangers were hung up, as she finished that, she got her more regular clothes together and placed, and set up her stuff, which had some anime merch from Toyko. She'd visit there to learn about modern Japan when she was with her dad in the summers. It was a Two Hour Train ride to Toyko, but it was always fun to see what was around the day she went. When she finished that, she made sure her bags were put in the closet. She then went back to the common room and saw all her roommates. She sat down and looked to Iori.

"You said something about Earlier?" Asuna asked Iori.

Dorm 8
Saul Rex glanced over the names posted on the front door. His own was there, along with three other names. He stored that small detail away in his memory before pushing open the door. Before stepping inside, he studied the room. It was much larger and fancier than he had expected. He also noticed that he was the first one there. Good.

He walked inside, shutting the door behind him, and walked straight into the bedroom. He spotted his name on a sticky note on one corner of the room. In his area, there was a bed, a wardrobe, a desk, and a single window. Unremarkable yet functional, just as the teen liked it. Saul set his suitcase on the bed, messed with the combination lock, and then popped it open. He went over the contents of the suitcase again, systematically and efficiently, before closing it again.

He lifted a corner of the bedsheet off the mattress, stuffing the suitcase beneath the pillow to hide it. Then, he remade the bed, taking note of a specific wrinkle in the pillowcase to finally satiate his paranoid distrust of the roommates he hadn't even met yet. Then, Saul's eyes scanned the room yet again, comparing the other corners to his own. After a moment more, he walked back out of the bedroom to quickly inspect the rest of the dorm with similar scrutiny.

Iori sat down next to Asuna. “Oh, that’s a really cool power! Has it ever gone out of control?” She pulled at her gloves, not wanting to take them off yet. “Since you told me your power, I’ll tell you mine, too. I can see strings that dictate connections between people, and even between people and objects!” And attacks. And I have an uncontrollable future sight power.

Kim listened as Melanie seemed to clarify that the ability had come from her and the sword more acted as a sort of medium aid of sorts as this all seemed to interest the Takahashi but as Melanie noted they needed to head to dorms to which Kim nodded along as she began to move her bag along as she listened to her inform her that she called Dorm 18 her home as she reached to her own pocket as she scanned what dorm she was assigned for reference.

"Seems I am in Dorm 15. I presume we are in the same hall at the least." Kim mused to her as she had began to lead the two to the dorm buildings.

Kim had not been sure the kind of people she'd room with, but at the least she hoped that these people would carry a degree of grace.

Gwen

From the corner of the room, Gwen gave a little wave as the other two roommates showed up, introducing themselves as Iori and Asuna, the latter described to be the fabled steam girl. "Hi, you two! I'm Gwen. Pleasure to meet you all!" Her warm smile accentuated her enthusiasm, yet this was cut short as she refrained from speaking any further, not wanting to interrupt the newcomers' conversation. With her short introduction over, Gwen opted to listen in quietly instead, occassionally glancing at her phone primarily for the time - it shouldn't be too long before dinner.

Arielle

"Oh, that's my dorm as well!" The blindfolded girl let out a faint laugh at the coincidence, yet quickly stopped before it could be interpreted as some sinister giggle. Seriously, what happened to her? Arielle pondered the question while walking inside, leaving the door open as the escort flailed out of her grasp once they reached their destination. It was relatively quiet, except for a distant 'plop', followed by the sound of something else hitting a bed.

So we're not alone, that's good I guess...

Arielle wasn't sure what they would be like, never mind the last person, but there was no harm in wishful thinking. Seeing as she was no longer on hand-holding duty, she went to claim one of the rooms for herself, away from the source of the noise. She set her suitcase next to the bed and quickly returned to the common area, enjoying the plush texture of the sofa. She didn't see a point in unpacking, bringing mainly clothes and a few of her favorite books for comfort, some other items but nothing neccessary at the moment. Arielle looked back towards the girl, still appearing jitterish and frightened. Although hunger began to tug at her, and everyone would be at the cafeteria soon, she couldn't be left in a state like this. Arielle just didn't know what to do.

Then, a bright idea emerged.

I could try and ask our dormmate for help!

It didn't matter what they were like, anyone would be better than her in a situation like this. She sprung up from the lavish sofas of the common area, towards the sleeping quarters. The only thing holding her back now was the curtain, seperating the beds.

Arielle stood a distance away from it, contemplating whether this was a good idea or not for a moment. With a deep breath, the molecules surrounding her morphed into a green hand, and slowly drew the curtain.

She slightly lifted her blindfold, peeking her head to the side and let out a sigh, grateful to know they were only faceplanted into a pillow and not changing or anything. It'd be hard to convince them to do anything right now if she was introduced as some voyeur, much less getting to know them later on...

"U-um... I'm sorry to disturb you and your rest..."

Arielle's voice came off as a whisper, part of her not wanting to be heard and to just run off. However, she summoned the courage to clear her throat and spoke louder, walking closer to the bed, readjusting the eye cover while the green construct remained floating by her side. "I'm Arielle, one of your room m-mates..." She began by introducing herself.

"I came in with another one of our roommates," At that moment, Arielle realised that she hadn't asked for a name, let alone given her own. Then again, she hasn't been getting exactly clear answers today. "But she's been in a p-panic ever since I met her... Perhaps you've seen her around?" A senseless question in retrospect, considering she was hiding in the trees, the poor girl.

"A bit shorter than me, one eye blue, the other yellow?" Arielle pointed to her own, or lack thereof, forgetting that they were covered by her blindfold anyways. "She seems to be a bit confused..." Candidate for understatement of the year, "If you could help me calm her down, I'm sure she'd appreciate it. I-i would, at least..." Her voice returned to its natural hush, as she stopped speaking and awaited a response. Hopefully, they weren't too mad at her, being as disruptive as she was...

Nera Vasquez

Nera thought there was a fly in her ear for a moment as she felt the mattress crease beneath her, and she only barely managed to peel herself off of it. She smacked the side of her head as to try and squash the bug, but she was mistaken, as turning her head, she noted a blindfolded girl who seemed to be speaking. She shook her head to shake off her drowsiness and listen to what she had to say, as the girl explained her situation.

"Oh... uh... yeah, sorry, I couldn't catch the first part, but I think I know who you're talking about..."

"...are you... uhm... Arielle or Gina..? Cuz... I think you're talking about Isolde, right?" She hoped the girl wouldn't question how she knew the blonde's name, and she shook her head softly. "Yeah... I saw her earlier, I think I freaked her out... I tried to tell her to wait out in the crowd in the trees- but I think she took it as me luring her to her death so... yeah, I don't think I can be much help in this... I'm sorry..."

She rubbed the back of her head, genuinely apologetic that she probably wouldn't be of any assistance to the current... uh... problem.

"...I think I should actually leave, I don't wanna scare her even more... that'd make it a pain for both of us. Name's... uh... Nera though, just... I hope you'll be a decent roomie, I uh... I'm pretty low-maintenance- just don't be irritating and I won't get mad at ya..."

She stood up, hoping to leave before Isolde noticed she was here- as Arielle could see her distinct lack of "being unpacked".

...

"...personal touches will assist you in... well... navigating for yourself, but hopefully that entails staying out of trouble- not to be a parent, obviously. Still... given the map's current "completeness", I'd say we should probably make our move to our dorms? I mean, it just seems like a pertinent objective... I'm in Dorm 3, actually, so who knows- we may end up as roommates, no?"

He casually placed a hand on his hip, brushing aside some of his dark brown hair, and fixing up the neatness of his ponytail a little.

"Speaking of my adventures- it's mostly training, good food, and good rest. And... a few artistic ventures of my own, though... well, it's nothing, just some personal troubles. Most of the time I simply hone my bladesmanship, after all, it's two pronged- the finesse of the sword and the paintbrush are rather similar, are they not?"

He slightly got self conscious of his own manner of speaking, simply clearing his throat and turning towards the dorm building, gesturing him to follow.

Riley Deimi

"Ohhh awesome! Super cool to have a bunch of kindred souls in this room, hehe-!"

Riley exclaimed as Pamela almost instantly shook her hand, giving back just as much vigor herself, with her almost sugar-rush smile making her absolutely elated! Then, as Pamela made her... almost purposefully-loud whisper, Riley's cheeks turned a slight shade of red... thaaaat's just what girls say about other girls though! MMMM Don't mix up your signals, Riley!

Still, she basically stammered out her next response- "Awhhh, thank you for the offer, but I promise I've got this..! I didn't do girl scouts for 7 years just to have nothing to show for it~! And yeah, I agree, I hope they're as high strung as this trio right here, because man, that would be a swell-nice combination! C'mon, let's not fall behind Amaryllis, let's go Pomelo~!" ...that's just what her name reminded Riley of!

"...sorry! It's probably not polite to nickname someone you just met~"

She giggled to herself, shaking off her blush shortly after as she followed Amaryllis into the dorm, claiming one of the beds on the opposite curtain as Amaryllis, as she soon started to unpack her things- both her dorm mates instantly able to notice her immense bursts of speed as she performed her tasks, as she seemed to almost defy how fast her movements should even be!

@Void_Nugget @Blotch'd

Maya Aofumi

Maya nodded thoughtfully towards Omar, and decided to really make her way back to her room, strolling along and blending in with the crowd, unlike her rather eye-catching Celine persona before. She opened up her dorm with her small keycard, and slipped inside. Dorm 18... apparently she was supposed to be dormed with two "Redtail" siblings, or at least, she assumed they would be- part of her thought they could be cousins... and then... a girl named Nori Ito!

She examined this listing for a few moments longer than she originally had considered she should, and then sat down at the couch... she wondered how long it would take for the others to get here though, especially considering the size of the crowd...

"Hmmmm...~"

...so she just decided to pull out her phone and play Ridiculous Fishing-

"Interesting power you have there, The out of control has its own title called Burnout, and I've had lots of burns from overuse. I've only had to use Burnout once," Asuna rolled her sleeves to show some burn scars, "This occurs if I overuse this power, I do have a secondary power that I can Demonstrate without affecting Everyone here."

Asuna then dropped into the shadow of the couch, as if she was gone. She then jumped back out of the shadow of couch and sat back on it.

"I have Loom in the Shadows as a side power as well." Asuna explained, "But that seals away if I am too burned in the present from overuse."

She then heard someone speak.

"Hello, Gwen, I am Asuna Ryugetsu, my main power is Steam Engine, sorry if I inconvenienced anyone."

Asuna then turned back to Iori.

As Melanie heard Kim speak, she looked over her dorm list, a Maya Aofumi, a Nori Ito, and her sister, Fuyuko. It was relieving that at least one person she knew was in her dorm.

"So I was looking through my list and found that my sister was in my room, at least I know someone in my dorm, Kim, you should meet her at some point!" Melanie was equal parts excited and nervous to meet their dormmates.

Melanie pulled out the sword to inspect it for damage during transport, she didn't see anything, so she put it away. A couple of random students looked at them with surprised faces. Someone looked to challenge her, but that's when a change in possession occurred and The Draque took over at the end of her initial possession. The kid promptly ran off. She then turned to Kim, pointing to the flags outside some buildings.

"We're getting close, Kim."

As Pearl placed her bags on one of the chairs, like activating a puzzle or something, her roommate would enter their dorm, and tried to guess who she was based on her appearance. And like a scripted event, all of her roommates entered the dorm one after the other, as the one who introduced themselves as Asuna and Iori would be deep in conversation. Gwen would sit down in a corner, as Pearl watched these events unfold.

"My name is Pearl. Pearl Rose Arlene-" She said, talking to Gwen. "You know, your hair is really beautiful! And your blue eyes! They're magnificent! How do you get your hair to look like that all the time? Anyway, let's talk about you while those two have their conversation. What are your powers? Dorm 8
Saul Rex had investigated every corner of the place. There wasn't much to be found besides fancy dorm stuff. After the teen was satisfied, he stopped in the living area for a moment. His orange eyes swept across the room. This was his home now. He didn't know how to feel about that, but processing emotion was a waste of time at the moment. To avoid interacting with his dormmates, he snuck out just as quickly as he had entered.

Dining Hall
The telepath arrived in the cafeteria of the building. There weren't many people here, as expected. He heard noises coming from the adjacent kitchen. They were clearly still preparing dinner, and although he was early, Saul didn't have anywhere else to be. He slunk into a corner, sitting at a table farthest from the others.

Braedyn
While telling the guy he was fighting to (in these exact words) "shut the fuck up", a girl tried to break up the fight and got knocked to the ground. Braedyn slipped under an incoming punch and slid down to the girl. "Are you all right?" he asked. The guy he was fighting called him a simp. Yeah, says the guy who has a criminal record for sexual harassment, Braedyn thought.

Tsugikuni seemed like the chill type, a dude who'd patiently explain why the sky's blue or how pouring milk before cereal is considered a hate crime in some parts of the world. Orion figured they'd vibe well together. As for 'staying out of trouble,' he decided not to ruin the illusion.

"Ah, a swordsman!" Orion exclaimed, catching up as they strolled towards the dorms. "You've got a rival, right? And an Ultimate Move! Let's hear it! It's gotta be something like... MOONSHADOW BARRAGE!" He belted out dramatically, channeling his inner anime hero.

Continuing their chatty banter, they arrived at the now less-crowded dorm building. "Looks like we're roomies! Dorm 3, huh? I'm Orion," he announced cheerfully.

Inside, Orion surveyed the room excitedly. "Whoa, looks like someone's already claimed their turf," he observed. "Bet it's either Marcel, who's gotta be the artsy poet type, or Jake, the Ultimate Chad."

He spun around, setting his sights on Tsugikuni. "So, what's our move? Flip a coin or read their diary?" Orion joked, settling into his corner of the room.

"Or, alternatively, I could leave a welcome gift: a pineapple on their dresser. Who wouldn't appreciate a pineapple in their dorm room? Classic move to establish dominance, right?"

As Gina Fell, She heard someone speak up, telling the guy who punched her to 'Shut the F@#% up!' She then looked up at the young man who came from ducking under a punch after he asked if she was alright.

"I'm fine," Gina gave a smile, "I wished my brother was here, he has a power more suitable for this situation."

Gina then looked down to make sure her wound didn't reopen, thankfully it didn't. She then heard the guy that punched her call the guy checking on her a simp. She was not happy with that guy, but she looked back at the guy that checked on her. She then got up, and looked at the young man in front of her.

"Sorry if I didn't introduce myself, my name is Gina Shieldson." Gina responded, "What caused this fight?"

Leo Wright
Another school year, another new batch of students… Leo strode past the crowds of students funneling into the dorms. “I wonder who the other dorm heads are this year,” he said to himself.

He grabbed his notebook, quickly speeding through the basic points of his self-introduction and working his way through his self-made campus map just in case he had to find a lost freshman. “And this is the spot where a lot of freshmen hang out when they want to skip…” he muttered, circling a spot on his map. He pushed it back into his bag, turning to head towards the cafeteria.

As the girl stood up, Braedyn's eyes almost lit up. Damn, he thought, trying not to look like a simp (which worked flawlessly). "My name's Braedyn," he said as he stood up, "Braedyn Gooley." And then the guy who Braedyn got into a fight with was about to tell him to off himself until Braedyn turned in his direction with his finger on fire, which in turn caused the guy to scream almost endlessly. Braedyn scoffed, blew the flame out and turned back to Gina. "I dunno how it started either," he said, "He just started punching me and, before you know it, broken nose." He pointed to his own nose which was actually broken. Not bad, but still broken.

Miles quite literally swung into Dorm 8. Third there. Perfect. Not that he needed to know that, obviously. He immediately decided to stick a poster of Spider-Man where he would be sleeping. Want me to make it more accurate? Nine posters of Spider-Man. And a poster of Post Malone.

As soon as he was finished unpacking, he started swinging to the cafeteria, Spider-Man style of course. He then nearly bumped into someone. A pale, scrawny, orange-eyed and brown-haired guy a few inches taller than him.

"That was too close for comfort," he said, "Sorry about... nearly bumping into you." Miles smiled awkwardly. He was not used to this. "Anyway, my name's Miles Morales," he said, "I'm guessing you're also new here?"

Cafeteria
Sensing someone, Saul whipped around, glaring daggers into the other boy as he almost stumbled into him. He stood his ground as he stared, and considered sneering at the apology. Miles introduced himself, and Saul's peepers widened in recognition of the name.

The teen stood up straighter. "You're in Dorm 8," he stated, disregarding the question entirely. His vision flitted away, and he invited a moment of silence, mulling over the fact that this was his dormmate. The teen looked back to the Spider-Fan, and let out a small sigh. "What is it you want from me, Morales?"

Saul was withholding his own name and the fact that they were roommates on purpose- not that Miles wouldn't find out soon enough anyway. The more information he had over others, the better- for knowledge is power, and, in Saul's mind, even the smallest practices of this truth would be fruitful.

Miles
Miles was somewhat disappointed that the guy he nearly bumped into didn't answer his question, and right now was genuinely confused. "Alright, listen, man, I almost bumped into you by accident, I swear," he said with a serious tone, "Also, how'd you know I was in Dorm 8?" He began thinking. It was then that he realised something. "Wait, are we in the same dorm?" he asked before the group chat distracted him. Miles sighed. "Talk to you later, bud," he said, smiling. Then he walked away, checking his phone. Ganke sent a 48 second voice message of him saying the N-word. Miles barely contained his laughter. And then he realised he still had his earphones in. Time to play music, he thought. And then he accidentally disconnected his earphones and blasted Sunflower at full volume. Multiplied by 3. He could get used to this.

Having checked enough times to be satisfied, Ralyegh gave his memoirs once last, long look before turning around and standing up out of his seat - only to then finally notice that two other people have joined him here, likely two of the other three he was to share a dorm with - actually, not likely, it was definitely them. After all, what other reason would there be for someone to walk into a dormitory and start unpacking their stuff if they weren't supposed to be his roommates?

His legs crumpled as Ral fell back in his beanbag chair, feeling the dreadful sense of social anxiety creeping into his mind. Now he actually had to talk to these strangers, introduce himself at most. Okay.. time to calm down and plan out his words. He was gonna say something brief, something simple. He didn't need to make any overly-expressive introduction, he just needed to inform them of who he was and what he could do. That should be simple.

Okay. Just tell them your name, that's all you need to do. You got this.

" Uh.. Hello. My name is Ralyegh- er, Ralyegh Innsmouth, yes, that's right. "

Damn it.

Great. He just started off with his name and he's already gone and struggled to stutter it out. How fantastic. Well.. now that he did out himself for who he was, he supposed it was also time to explain what he was.. or, wait, maybe not that part. But he could at least tell them about his aura-thingymabob power. Yes, that one would work. It was only fair, right? They were gonna have to learn to deal with it, so he may as well give a warning about it.

Well, all I have to talk about is this one power of mine, right? I can't possibly mess this one up, right? Right..?

" I-If you hear any.. uh, strange whispers or see any.. well, shadows moving about in the corner of your vision or whatever else.. that's, er, a s-side effect of being a-a-around me. Probably. I can't turn it o-off either, so.. s-sorry if it gets.. uh, annoying and stuff.. yeah.. "

Asuna was quite surprised at the Reaction of Iori. She's never seen someone's eyes try to jump out of their sockets before. But then again, she rarely used Loom in the Shadows outside of combat training.

Gina had looked over to Braedyn, who looked worse for wear, and she was worried, as the boy said he had a broken nose. She was quite surprised when she heard the guy started punching him out of literally nowhere. She then saw his finger on fire, then he put it out.

Probably. I can't turn it o-off either, so.. s-sorry if it gets.. uh, annoying and stuff.. yeah.. "

..nailed it.

Omar listened to what Rayleigh had to say.

"This is very intriguing to me, that one of your powers, seeming to be an aura like power, that can produce things such strange whispers and other strange events." Omar responded, "Omar Shieldson, I have been known to cage people if a fight broke out, literally. One of my powers is called Cage."

Omar rolled up his sleeve to reveal some of his tattoos. However, a bird flew into the door, which Omar reacted to the bird to use his power so that it would be easier to get out of the dorm, he opened a window near his bed as he started undoing the cage on the sill so that the bird flew out when it was released.

Reggie Ironfist had been walking through the area, making sure that no freshmen were lost, in the wrong area, or in fights. He found a random fight that broke out and went into Metaltouched form as someone tried to punch him in the face. The freshman in question realized a little too late what had happened and ran off to get his hand checked. He then went towards the Cafeteria, as a house head, House Siren's head. As Reggie was walking, he saw Leo Wright, this year's Head of Pegasus House.

"Hello there, Reggie Ironfist here, Head of Siren House." Reggie Ironfist responded, "Sorry about my current state, broke up a fight between freshmen on my way through."

Braedyn
Braedyn sighed. He had no need for pity despite having it anyway. Oh well. "Must've been hitting me pretty fuckin' hard," he explained, "And my finger is indeed a lighter; the power is literally called 'My Finger Is a Fuckin' Lighter'... without the 'Fuckin'', of course." Braedyn was pretty smug inside. The first time one of his explanations were actually good. "I honestly don't think he knew about this place since my best friend and I never told him," he said.

Then it hit him.

"Was that even real?" he said to himself, "My perception of reality is becoming distorted by the second." Then he decided something wasn't right. Well, of course, everyone listening in knew what wasn't right. Then some random person, about 18 years of age, walked in front of Braedyn. "Why'd you do it?" the rando asked, "Why'd you attack my-"

"I didn't attack anyone, he attacked me!" Braedyn countered, "Now FUCK OFF." The rando wasn't impressed. He continued to intimidate Braedyn... or at least try and fail pathetically. Braedyn lifted his finger up to the random asshole's eye level and set it on fire. Immediately the guy teleported away.

Braedyn sighed and blew his finger, extinguishing the fire. "I haven't got a clue what's going on," he said, snapping his nose back into place.

Iori Akiyama
Iori shook her head. “Other than the strings getting crowded in areas with lots of people, there’s not that many drawbacks, at least that I know of. I’m not really a combat specialist, though, and no one’s ever tried to use the power offensively in my family, so there’s probably some downside that’s never applied to my usage of my power.” She shrugged. I’m not sure if my power has anything going for it offensively.

Leo Wright
“Good to meet you in person, Mr. Ironfist. I’m Leo Wright, the new Head of Pegasus House.” Leo extended a hand towards the slightly taller male. “Don’t worry about it; I just hope no one was severely injured.” He’d only heard about the other new heads of house in passing, but he hoped that they wouldn’t be irresponsible.

Miles didn't answer Saul's question either, instead amending his apology in an attempt to soothe Saul's disdain. The boy also replied with another question, yet shortly afterwards answered it himself. And, before Saul could speak, the shorter kid was distracted by his phone. Rex watched his roommate leave. That interaction was practically a waste of breath, though the minor details the teen picked up on were filed away in his mind accordingly.

He shook his head and continued on his path, taking a seat at a far table. He crossed his arms and rested his elbows on the cool surface, and became as still as a statue. He took the time he still had before dinner to go people-watching.

How long had it been? Months? Years? It'd been so long since Lyn felt his parents warm embrace. He wasn't going to be seeing them for a while, but that wasn't much different to the usual was it? The sun was high in the sky, students saying goodbye to his loved ones, it all felt alien to him. He wanted the hug to last longer but he knew he had to go, his new school life was just across those gates. The chatter of students and parents alike, it created this buzz in the air that only helped make the place seemed more welcoming. Ever since the incident, Lyn had become massively fond of social gatherings and this would be no exception. Who could he meet? What adventures were lying ahead? He just couldn't wait for it all. "Don't forget to write back to us", his mother said, her tone having a weight of pride in it. That felt new too, his parents showing him genuine attention. Lyn looked over to his sister, she seemed bright as daisies. That was good, it meant she was getting better. "Don't go around causing trouble for the other kids either, we know you've always been a social kid but not everyone else is", his father chimed in. Typical. He wasn't always this social, he wasn't like this before the incident. If his parents had bothered to spend more time invested- oh who cared? He was happy, this is all he wanted as his gaze met his father's eyes. What colour were they?

"Yeah yeah dad- wait what colour were your eyes again?". Lyn bolted upright as light danced acrossed his eyelids. It was all quite sudden how quickly he steadied himself as the bus was still driving. Still in a groggy daze, he put palm to eye sockets and gave them a good rub before slapping both sides of his cheeks. A few odd looks here and there amongst the chatter in the bus. Of course it was a dream, his parents hadn't even bothered to lend them the family limo to get them here. They needed it for their so called "business". If only they had bothered at all, maybe then the son of renowned medical geniuses wouldn't be travelling in a cramped bus to get to school. But Lyn wasn't upset, no he still had a grin on his face. He was excited for this, nothing could ruin it for him. Well not that he was physically capable of feeling upset anyways. Throughout his nap he had been making different comments ranging from "Yes I think dinner is a great hamster's name" to "No! Pizza is a soup! I'm telling you!" but the one that stood out most were about his parents. While everything seemed to have some detail, anything about them seemed vague.

Lyn wasn't alone either, against his own wishes his sister was sat next to him on the bus. She was a tall slender woman, with a gaunt appearance. Her skin was pale and her hair was thinning. She kept herself warm in a think knitted beige sweater while she kept her lowerhalf covered by a dark skirt that ran down to her ankles. Add on the hightops, the beanie, the thick wool socks and there we have it; Lyn's sickly sister. Rin hadn't slept a wink on the trip, spending most of it caressing Lyn's hair while he slept and making sure he was kept company. She was advised to stay home, rest up, but she had completely gone against anything the doctors had said. Even Lyn had tried to make her stay home, going as far as changing all her calendars and clocks to make her miss him leaving, but she still managed to go with him. Lyn loved her, he loved her with all his heart but he also wanted to look out for her health more than anything. She had gone against everyone to just see her little brother off.

As the bus came to a stop about a block away from the school, Lyn hopped off as he got a lungful of the air. It wasn't musty! Hallelujah, finally fresh air that wasn't sweaty or damp! Well it didn't bother him but having fresh air only made him feel happier, as he gripped his bags tighter. "Had a nice dream of Ma and Pa?". Rin had made her way out of the bus, holding one of Lyn's smaller bags. "How'd you guess? Of course! They were seeing me off and it made me so happy! Sure it wasn't real, but like hey! Who cares, right? Got the coolest sister in the world taking me instead!", he beamed. Lyn had an infectious smile that only seemed to pass onto his sister. "If only the greatest sister in the world had a brother that didn't genetically modify himself to only be a happy go lucky moron, y'know Ma and Pa ain't that great?", she chuckled. Great now both of them seemed like smiling dummies as they were making their way towards the school. Rin walked with a sluggish pace, while Lyn had a bounce in each step. Despite the difference in nature, Lyn kept his pace slow, just for her. He didn't want to ruin these moments, who knew when the next time he'd see his sister would be.

"Oh well, they tried their best at least! They even had a reason this time!", he tried to protest. Rin looked at him with a face that could only be read as 'sure buddy', but decided to move on from that topic. She needed to give some advice to him, she needed to give him some parting message he could keep in mind. But there was nothing, nothing on the spot she could come up with. Damn her intelligent mind only working 6 steps ahead. "Y'know sis, you don't gotta worry about me, right? I'm smart as it is, school ain't that challenging, and I'm a social god who can easily make friends. Add that to being dashing, charming, full of life too and damn I think highschool is gonna be easy haha!". He certainly was confident about that. "Just remember... you've got a good heart, not everyone will see it. Not everyone will believe in you sometimes. Just... if things get hard, send me a message. Just give me a call or send me one of your shitty memes that you seem to have so many of. Just don't keep me in the dark, alright?". Rin tried to hide the emotion in her voice, but it was hard. As much as she was a parent figure for Lyn, he was also the only one there for her. She wasn't ready to say goodbye to her lil' bro just yet but it had to be done.

To Rin's surprise, Lyn's eyes had tears pricking from the side. Must've been tears of joy. "You know I will, I'm your awesome little bro". He gave her a small embrace, as she leaned into it. Psst. Lyn felt something inject into his neck. He couldn't help but clench his teeth as his pupils narrowed and his veins became apparent across his face and neck. Parts of his body began to pale, making his skin tone now look patchy almost. He was still hugging Rin but each breath felt forced. His head was spinning, his legs felt ready to give way at any second. "For an awesome little bro you're not giving me much confidence, you almost forgot your dosage", she said as he began to return to his usual state. She flicked his forehead as he let go from the hug, when did she even- oh that was his lab bag. It had some of his equipment with him, she must've got his vial from there. Lyn couldn't help but laugh, grateful for his sister's actions at the very least.

The pair had reached the gates. Lyn now with all his bags on him looked to Rin. It was time to go. But he wasn't exactly ready yet. The boy, dressed in his usual sunflower buttoned shirt and his baggy trousers. The matching hightops he had and the rounded spectacles. His look was all topped off with his yellow bucket hat. The colourful luggage he kept too was also making him stand out at the gates. This was who he was, he wanted to be open. He was loud and brash. But wait... how was Rin getting back? "Don't go breaking too many girl's hearts now and Joso is giving me a lift back so just have fun!". Rin gave him a small push on his chest. Wait! No! Lyn wasn't ready just yet! Joso?! Her boyfriend?! When was he- it was too late now. Lyn had been pushed into the wave of oncoming students. There was no going back now, no point of finding Rin. Lyn had already given up sighting of her to try and keep balance with all his bags on him. And this wave of students, it was dragging him. Dragging him deeper into what would be the deepend, a new highschool.

Pax Navarro
Pax fiddled with a carabiner in her lap, pushing it open, then letting it snap shut. She couldn’t remember where she had found it, but it was in her hands, and the cool metal caught the light nicely. Pax felt herself bounce slightly as the old Toyota trundled over a pothole, and she kept her eyes firmly on the thin loop of metal. She still found herself getting motion sick in these car things sometimes, especially in extended rides, and Pax had been in the sardine can of death for the better part of an hour now.

While he drove, Pax’s father kept quizzing her on the societal norms she would have to follow. “Someone comes up to you and says hello,” he repeated for the third time this ride. Pax wondered if he even remembered the questions he had already asked or if he was just making sure she understood. “What do you do?”

“Stay still,” Pax mumbled. “No sudden moves. Wait for threat to go away.” At the worriedly incredulous look that response earned from her father, Pax grimaced. “I know, I know. Say hi too, move on.”

Samuel returned his eyes to the road, assuaged. “Maybe even make conversation?” he added pointedly. “The more you interact with others, the easier you will reintegrate into society.”

“Integrate?” Pax frowned. She had only heard that word in a math context. “Like calculus?”

The scientist suppressed a sigh as he pulled over to the side of the road. “Like finding your place. Fitting in. Becoming one with the ‘entity of humanity.’” He put air quotes around the last phrase.

Pax snorted. “‘Fitting in’ rated too high. And I still do not understand the… this.” She made a face and overly exaggerated air quote motions.

Her father reached over to pat her on the shoulder. “You’ll do fine, Paxxie. And the colloquial phrase is ‘overrated.’ You remember what colloquial—”

“I know, I know.” Pax waved her father off and shouldered her bag. Before she closed the car door, Pax hesitated. “Vibrating box is still strange. But you will… call, yes?”

Samuel smiled. “Course I will, Paxxie. Have fun, good luck, you’ll do fine.” When she shut the door and began walking toward the front gates — fairly noncrowded now, Pax supposed she was late — her father hollered after her. “Make friends, too! Don’t be a hermit, Paxxie!”

An ironic request, coming from him, Pax thought. Maybe she would try making friends. With someone non-threatening. The carabiner snapped shut on her finger, and she winced slightly. She should probably stop playing with it before she dropped the shiny little thing. That would be a waste. Pax clipped the carabiner onto her bag’s strap, squared her shoulders, and headed for the gates.

Nothing?

That was all Rohan needed to know. No one seemed to take any interest, especially when showcasing (not showing off, he isn't like that!) his cool Water Bending abilities.

So, why didn't he talk to people? That's a question that's easily answered. He was nervous.

Now, he wasn't one to usually be shy, but his father's death shook him. He stopped being, well, him. He didn't like this new him. In fact, he would want nothing more than to be himself once more.

But could that really happen?

He decided, screw it, to approach someone. And speak to them.

Oh god. How would this go?

He laughed, then took a deep breath. Didn't want to make a bad first impression. "I'm Dean Emery," he said, "And lemme guess, you're looking for a friend? Then he explained how he felt. Almost reminded Dean of himself. Well, it reminded him of himself 3-4 years ago, because he was so shy. But besides that. Then Rohan asked what his power was. "Oh, it's not just one power," he said, "I can create electricity, move at the speed of sound, calculate god knows how complex equations in my head and knock someone about 15 or something meters away just by screaming."

"Oh, I can also blast music that has to be comedically unfitting to the situation," he explained, laughing. And then he heard a firework rocket. Someone stepped on the pressure plate.

Now it wasn't just one firework. It was dozens of them. And the noise caused a few of the older kids to scream uncontrollably. Those were the same kids Braedyn mortified.

Gwen

Gwen looked up from her phone, seeing as Pearl returned her compliment ten-fold in kindness. "Why, thank you! My hair's naturally like this, I just have to frequently take care of it," Though, the subject quickly changed to her abilities, her smile slightly fading.

"Oh, how you couldn't be more wrong..." She let out a weak laugh before starting to speak.

"Thanks, but my powers aren't any 'Threads of Fate' or shadow sneaking, or anything cool like that." She sheepishly smirked, holding out her hands as they became wet with a soapy liquid secreting from her hands.

Gwen clapped her hands together, a myriad of small bubbles emerging from the collision. She formed a heart with her hands, blowing into it into a decently sized bubble of the same shape towards Pearl, Gwen controlling it to float a distance in front of her face before manually popping.

"I can make my hands soapy, and then use it to make bubbles or just to clean stuff. Kinda boring, if you ask me," Another diffident grin from Gwen acommpanied her small demonstration. "I can also change the..." Her voice trailed off, struggling to find the words. "thickness, if you will, of fluids, like my soap."

Gwen's eyes began to lit up to their usual self again, changing the topic as she wiped the residue soap off her hands. "So what can you do, Miss Arlene? Not counting your natural charm~!"

Andrew

Andrew's random train of thought was disrupted by somebody else entering the dorm, also silently entering and going straight to unpack. He had to admit, this was surpisingly nice, with nobody was being excessively loud, at least not yet. That was, until the first one to arrive felt inclined to start conversation.

Great.

Even then, his tone was only coy, the volume less about the distance between the two and more of shyness. He introduced himself as Ralyegh, blaming himself for any hallucinations whenever he's around.

Then the next person spoke up in response, showing interest despite most likely ending up as one of the prime victims suffering from it. Omar continued to explain his very creatively named power, opening a window for a bird that flew in. "Let a draft in, why don't 'cha.." He muttered as the last dormmate showed up, as if on cue. Before the guy could say anything, Andrew got up. "This feels like it's gone on long enough."

"Andrew Kendra. I can shoot water out of my palms, and control how fast liquids flow via contact." He followed the trend the other two had done for their introduction, and began pointing to them in order.

"That's Ralyegh, that's Omar, and that makes you Samael. There, introductions over." He saved them all the time of re-introductions while keeping words to a minimum, although also wanting to limit conversation. Andrew started to walk towards the door, preparing to leave, food mainly on his mind. After all, he finished unpacking the very little he wanted to, and didn't plan to stick around for small talk.

Arielle

Thankfully, Nera only gave off such an intimidating presence, being more friendlier than anticipated. Either way, the story finally reached full circle, in an incredibly strange coincidence: Isolde misinterpreting advice as a death threat by her own roommate, only to run into another roommate and yet again believing she was going to be led to her impending doom. "What bad luck, on the first day, as well..."

Her feelings of sympathy were slowly overshadowed, her name being asked again. "Ah, that's okay, I'm Arielle," She re-introduced herself, now at more ease.

Now what to do? There didn't even seem a point in waiting around and enlisting help from the final roommate - they probably ended up bumping into Isolde and she took it as a sign that she'll be dealt with later.

"U-um, I don't know how else to help her..." Arielle confessed, speaking her mind. The two were the most ill-equipped at subdueing the currently distressed in the whole school at the moment.

Isolde should be fine by herself, right? Besides the final dormmate to show up, she'd just be alone, no people around to unintentionally threaten her. It's not like it could get worse than this. With this in mind, Arielle tested her luck and asked another question.

"Nera? Could I um, p-please join you to the cafeteria? I-if you're headed there, that is..."

Looking past her stuttering, sticking by somebody else should divert attention from other students, and Arielle started to get hungry anyways. She stumbled towards the window, partially opening it and closing it after the green hand floating next to her reformed into its usual horde appearance, and buzzed out of the window. It flew towards the cafeteria, taking notice of the lack of people and preperation of food. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded yet, only a few figures hanging around the area.

Kim nodded to Melanie as the pair had each focused on their own matters though that offer lingered in the back of her mind.

For now, Kim made her way inside of Dorm 15 and already it seemed that a trio of girls were getting unpacked or just getting comfortable as the Takahashi seemed to be the last one to the party. A pity, she was always taught to make a timely arrival and perhaps she had gotten a bit off track with that conversation with that Melanie girl but alas she had no time to dwell upon that.

Kim glanced at the girls as she seemed to bring in a sizeable set of luggage while she migrated to the one bed that had not been claimed. Once she set it aside, she turned to the trio before her and gave a formal bow as she seemed to figure introductions were in order.

"Greetings. My name is Kimiko Takahashi, though I have a preference of being called Kim. I am the second daughter in the fifth generation in the Takahashi family. I look forward to learning about you in our time together, and hope we avoid any issues if it can be helped." Kim said, as her introduction almost seemed to be an intro page to her Wikipedia history yet this seemed to be the kind of way she composed herself and that bit of formal rehearsal had been all too evident.

"Don't bring your power down like that, Gwen! There's still a lot of interesting ways you could use it y'know? Like a way to travel fast or something! You've just gotta think outside of the box!" Pearl smiled at Gwen, showing her that Pearl would support her, and she would help Gwen with plans and cool ways to use her powers.

"Honestly, if I had your powers, I'd be having bubble baths every day too! Every cloud has a silver lining, that's what my older sister told me." Her happy demeanor changed to a solemn one, then immediately returned to her joyous smile. Gwen would then ask about her own powers, and Pearl would answer;

"Well, my main power is called "A Match Made In Heaven." Basically, I can shoot heart-shaped bullets from my fingers that have three different colors-" Pearl would show her right hand, where it has a dial that has three different colors, red, blue and green. "I can basically change the color of whatever comes out, and they have different effects based on its color. So red makes people hallucinate, blue can immobilize people, and green will make people fall asleep. I only have five bullets though, and that number is less with the green bullets, with only 3."

"I've got some more that support this main power, but they're not really controllable by me. And that natural charm isn't really 'natural', y'know. It's a part of my other power, Beautification. To put it simply, I look like the girl of someone's dreams without changing much about myself, like a filter or illusion or something. It's not really useful against females, so I don't usually activate it if I don't need to."

" MA! Ma! Please im sorry! SLOW DOWN !"
"NO-! Your late ! All beause you decided to be smart to set my alarm back a few hours !! "
" I know im sorry ! NOW SLOW DOWN !"

Yep that's me, now let me explain why Im in this situation... Did I really just reference a meme I did.

A large van that could be mistaken for a small bus raced into the parking lot. A loud screech of tires, smoke following soon after. The van drifting around the corner landing infront of the dorms. A petrified teen in the passenger seat, an annoyed mother in the driver's seat. And a small granny sat in the middle of them knitting something without a care in the world.

As soon as a small amount of smoke cleared from the tires the passenger door swong open. The teen hopping out crumbling to his knees with a loud sigh of relief. The driver side door quickly opened, followed by the opening of the vans back doors.
" Stop sulking Angus. Help me unload your stuff. You going and thats the final answer. "

" I don't wanna be here ma! You literally packed my things at midnight, and had dad carry me into the van! IN MY SLEEP BY THE WAY! " He stated earning a glare from the taller women.
" Look we get you don't like this move, but this is the best place for you right now. Your father, and me went through the same thing. Now grow a pair and help !" She responded in a soothing tone, the annoyance still noticeable. Angus only grumbled getting up to start unloading the large tinted containers from the back of the van. Small buzzing could be heard as he set down a container opening it slightly.

A small swarm of beetles started crawling out of it. Going into the truck to pull out the other containers.
" Such a lazy boy. " A older weaker voice called out. A loud yelp leaving the boy, his grandma's knitting needle poking him. Before returning to the cab of the van.
" Come on Grammy that hurt... " His defeated tone reserved a small hmpft from her. She quickly going back to her knitting. As Angus, Mom, an the beetles unload the van. He grabbed his backpack grabbing his schedule and dorm information. Reading over it before looking at the dorm building. His anxiety rising. Especially as he hears the van doors close and its engine roaring to life. Angus looked at the van as his mom gave him a small 'goodbye' from the window before pulling off.

There the boy just stood there. Staring at the retreating van. Before turning to the building. The height of the building weighting over him like a monster from his closet. The beetles returned to one of the many bins surrounding him.

( Under abit of editing to make sure it's ok. So it might get changed abit)

Dean, aka Mr. Fahrenheit
Dean smiled. He could tell how much Rohan loved the chaos. He even created his own fireworks out of water that came from god knows where. This guy... bloody hell, he was awesome.

"NIG- oh wait I can't say that word," he heard someone say. Dean nearly burst into laughter hearing this. Kinda sounded like the W.D. that Hayden mentioned. Dean turned around.

Nope. Pretty damn close to the description though. Dean turned back to Rohan. "I think I know what's gonna happen to Braedyn," he said. Just as someone else literally slinged into a firework. Dean stared in surprise. "Who the..." Dean said, cut off by his sudden laugh, "That isn't Braedyn." He did NOT see that coming.

"What the fuck is going on...?" he barely managed.

Karma High's Only Spider-Man
Miles began to walk up the wall, until fireworks started appearing out of nowhere. Time to swing, he thought. Then he decided to web-sling across the room. In the process, he flew right into one of the fireworks. He still made it across the room. Just... a little pain, that's all. "I'm OK!" he shouted.

Ralyegh was about to say something else, when the one named Andrew spoke up, seeming to be a rush to end this conversation, but why? What could possibly be so important that it needed them to just move o- oooh, right. Food. You know, with the time passing, he completely forgot about that.. but well, he kind of just couldn't go without food. Not for long, at least. So, he figured Andrew was right and just nodded, his words trailing off as his voice grew meek, then went completely silent.

" Well, um- truth be told, there w-w-was also another thing but uh- i-it's not really that important right now anyway-"

Then, catching himself being lost in thought once more, Innsmouth just pretended like nothing was wrong, as if he hadn't just forgot to finish his sentence and proceeded to just stand about awkwardly for a couple moments, trying to decide whether anything else needed to be added by him or if he should just.. actually, you know what, maybe just leaving was the better option. And so, with his tall frame quietly slinking its way out of the room and even the dorm itself, Ral begun making his way to the cafeteria to get himself some grub.. wherever that was to be found.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the aid of some rat-shaped lackeys that he coughed up like a cat with its hairball, Ralyegh made relatively quick work of finding himself in the vast expanse of Karma High and eventually managed to locate the Cafeteria, entering through the open doors and looking about to find himself an empty seat- no, wait. It was too early for that. First, he still needed to get food, didn't he? Well, let's see here.. thanks to his massive physique, it was relatively easy scouting out the large dining room, though trying to figure out exactly where he could get the specific dietary needs he required was still a bother.

Well, nothing a good, long and hard scan of the place couldn't fix!
..However long that would take..

..
is what he WOULD have thought were it not for the loudest, most annoying booms and bangs currently on-going thanks to whoever decided to light fireworks in an enclosed space.. great. Just great. Well, Ral figured he was gonna have to just hang back and wait out until all this chaos subsides, for all he knew one of the school's staff members could be just around the corner to set things straight again so, alas, all the pale student could do was just sit down on the ground, make himself comfortable and just idle on by until everything calmed down. Hopefully, things will go back to normal soon and if not?
..eh, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

A white-haired girl scurried down the path leading to the dorms, tears streaming from her eyes. A passerby at that moment might wonder what those tears were all about—had the girl perhaps finished having a rough breakup? Perhaps her beloved family pet had just died? Or maybe she’d simply come back from watching a particularly emotional film at the cinema?

None of the above. It just so happened that the girl, Nori, hadn’t blinked for the last three and a half minutes—a short amount of time under most circumstances, but a near eternity for a pair of dried out eyes that currently would be thrilled to never see the light of day again. Upon learning this information, one might inquire why exactly she was partaking in this rather idiotic sounding activity.

The first clue can be found in Nori’s anomaly file, which was submitted along with her application to Karma High. Within is a record of her unique ability, officially known as PAST AND FUTURE. To be frank, the file fails to provide an adequate description of Nori’s condition, in part because of the mixture of government and pseudoscientific jargon, and mostly because no one really understands time to begin with. To put it in simplest terms, Nori’s sense of vision is perpetually stuck in a different time than the rest of her senses,--a time which she may or may not get to decide, and which persists only up until she closes her eyes. The only thing that can be known for sure is that she cannot see the present, meaning that for all practical purposes, she is blind.

Well, for the most part. In the rare case where Nori’s vision settles close enough to the present—a few dozen milliseconds perhaps—she is able to see more or less normally, if not for a tiny bit of lag. And that is precisely what was happening at this moment. Seeing as she was a new student at Karma High and needed to find her dorm room, Nori sprang to get there with the limited time she had with almost-normal vision—a time that would last only so long as she could keep her eyes open. And this was why Nori hadn’t blinked for the last three and a half minutes, and consequently was tearing up like a romance-craving teen seeing Titanic for the first time (a scenario Nori wasn’t personally unfamiliar with).

Her room was in sight now. “Thank god,” Nori thought to herself through the terrible dry sting in her eyes. Fumbling around with the lock, she managed to get the door open and stumble inside, before immediately letting loose the greatest blink of her life. Salvation at last! She quickly blinked away the tears. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself looking at a different scene entirely. In place of the small ceiling, there was a vast overcast sky. Before her, was a cliff overlooking the sea. She was moving towards the edge slowly, almost uncertainly. “My future? This can’t be the past, I don’t remember anything like this…” she mumbled. Not particularly wishing to see anymore, Nori closed her eyes and fastened her blindfold, unaware of the people already in the room.
