Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
Not so much "stealing her ideas" as "being the members of the original thread that got closed due to her being banned, and wanting to continue where they left off without her" - which, honestly, nothing is stopping them from doing.
Spinoff threads and threads continuing where past threads left off are perfectly fine in the RP forums, and frankly, a generic school RP is hardly an idea original to Sylvie.
Not really. Creative Corner works, fics and the like are one thing. RP threads are another. RP threads are not exactly the sole property of the person who starts them - they are collaborative works and everyone involved has a stake in them.
Is it in bad taste to straight up copy someone else's premise? Yes. Is it in bad taste to continue an RP that was closed because one of its members got it closed due to their own misconduct? Not really, no.
So those who contribute the RP don't really have any sort of entitlenent huh? That sucks. So you're basically saying if I participate in a RP that's been copy/pasted and modified slightly, then I have stake and claim and can abstract 99% of it and then make my own "unoriginal idea" on RP thread and that would be fine?
What I'm saying is that if someone was banned, but the people in a thread they started want to continue using their characters in the same setting, there is nothing stopping them from doing so.
But reposting someone else's time developed RP and continuing a line is technically theft is it not? Regardless of whether her idea was "original" or not, she was the first to post it. When a person gets banned their posts and contributions can become another's project? ... Dang, I would like to see some more banned people's stuff :3
Arguement? Where in this post am I committed to argue? I seek answers as a concerned member of this community. I merely seek clarity here. Am I not entitled to have opinions opposite of your own? I appreciate you taking time to at least try and clarify on this rip you stand behind though.
