I have a few suggestions really ^^ First of all, remember that usually, each Digimon series is its own continuity, with its own world and set of rules. Only exceptions is Adventure (series 1 and 2) and Xros Wars/Xros Hunters (series 6 and 7). So don't be surprised if the series don't seem connected - they usually aren't.

Second, for the love of all things fuzzy, -watch subs-. The dub is borderline UNWATCHABLE for a few seasons. Adventure (Series 1) and Tamers (Series 3) are okayish, Tamers' dub is actually pretty good, barring the loss of some of the music.
