Maybe its because they have had more time to post?

A lot of us actually stopped posting as much around 2009-2010; it doesn't explain why people who haven't been around for ages (@112% Elusive and @Plapti ) are still at the top

Maybe because the people at the top posted a lot?

As in, more frequently.

I more meant, what from changed between then and now that contributed to such a change? Even the most avid posters who joined the site post-2010 never made it past 1000 posts that I remember. Hell, when the site relaunched after the fallout back then even I didn't make it to 1000 posts even three years later; most of my post count came from 2007-2009 from what I remember.

I don't know. What made people stop posting as often, basically. It would be interesting to do a study on that.

This post was mostly meant as my own personal sort of musing, I wasn't really expecting an answer XD danke though~

Leave it to me to turn what was once "no big deal" into "lets do research on this". :p

Forums are a lot less active these days in general, at least in our niche. The posting activity has been steadily dropping for ages ever since the fallout, if not earlier. It's still happening right now, if you look carefully at the stats.

Or to put it another way, people prefer profile posts and private RPs to public forum posting. I have a theory, but it is really only a theory.

That would make sense then; I know that the site seems to be much more active in general compared to anytime post-fallout, but forum posts still seem to be crawling at a relatively slow speed.

And it just gets slower and slower. Maybe people liked things more private after the fallout?

from what I can see, activity just shifted to other places; chat became the go-to place to hang out for many people for a while, and after the forums moved to Xenforo (the current platform we're using) people seem to be using profile posts, the Corner, and private messaging more as opposed to the forums

I never use the forums, except for my request thread, which has absolutely nothing going on right now.

the forums are difficult to navigate if you're not used to them ^^;

I find that funny.

Hmm? Why funny? And you didn't answer the question. :p
