Might be because whatever set of code is responsible for sending the achievements messages is set to a different time zone.

Not likely... I forget if the site's UK or US based, but either way, it shouldn't be affecting both you and me/Killybunny...
Unless it's west coast based and you're east coast.
Besides, it counts to the time of the day you signed up and I signed up in the evening, it was still evening at the same sort of time, but wrong day, impling a twenty-four hour behind timezone.
