Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
Step one - you read the rules. Make sure you understood everything before you attempt anything, and to ask any questions you may have.
Step two - You start writing your character, and set the scene for someone else to follow with their own! An RP is like a collaborative work of fan fiction, in a sense. That should generally give you some idea as for what you're doing.
Remember: an RP thread, in the RP boards, must contain posts that are in character. The story itself, if you will. Out of character notes like character bios or small blurbs about the general idea of the plot that are not immediately relevant to what's actually happening Right Now belong in the Discussion Boards.
A thread can (and really, should) have both an actual RP thread (in the RP board) for in-character stuff and a discussion thread (in the discussion boards) for everything else. Keep in mind that forums are NOT chat rooms - posts in a thread must be relevant to its topic and adhere to all our Global Rules as well.
But yeah, Basically, you just create a thread in the appropriate board and make sure it contains what it needs to contain and not what it DOESN'T need to contain.
You just start the actual story, and other people are meant to reply in-character as well. All the character bio nonsense belongs in the discussion thread for the RP, not the RP thread itself.
Our global rules specifically state that we don't immediately ban people for being under 13 years of age - but we are more likely to enforce our rules more harshly against people who are technically too young to be on the internet unsupervised.
