They're just for show, since you can't use them for anything.

Excuse me. Sorry to bother you again but I have two questions. 1: What is Pokemon Role Play? 2: Is there a general chat on this website?

To answer your first question, Pokemon Role Plays (Or PRPs for short) are essentially stories that multiple people write together post-by-post, though there are somewhat strict rules on formatting that should be noted as well as the other rules on legendaries/mythicals and megas and other stuff.

And to answer your second question, which I couldn't put in the same comment, if you mean like a chatroom, there is one, but I can't remember the specifics of it and you have to download something for it to work, if you mean something on the forums itself, then there's the Small Talk forum or various other forums for more focused topical discussion.
