Classic crab in a bucket mentality. People like that don't like seeing people with money, and freedom, and time to, y'know, enjoy life, so they put them down to make themselves feel better.

I can see why people think it's selfish, spending money on yourself instead of spending it on a family.

A family YOU created. A family which needs more resources, thus creating more leeches on this dying planet. A family which you created out of your own selfishness. Never mind that the planet is dying, and resources are dwindling, and human beings are killing this planet. Never mind that there are already millions of kids in the world already who need homes.
