Sayaka started her journey like everyone else at age 10 she chose Chikorita as her starter but, her family couldn't keep a permanent job often so they ended up moving around a lot. During that Time Sayaka was able to catch Pokemon because she'd sneak outside and explore. Eventually running away altogether in order to continue her delayed journey. Eventually she found a more permanent home in kanto.
