Kousei and Aya had been inseperable, the very best of friends, for all of their lives. Naturally, being a boy and girl pair, loads of people at school assumed that there was something going on between them, and on some level, they were right. Aya had had a crush on Kousei since middle school, but she'd never had the courage to confess.

But Kousei had something of his own to confess to her. The signs were obvious; he had no interest in girls, and would rather drool over guys instead. And nobody knew.

It was just a shame that they decided to confess to each other at the same time.

"Kousei...Listen up, ok?" she began, "Because, I...I love you, you idiot! I've loved you ever since middle school, and I just can't hold it back anymore!"

Kousei was crushed, when she announced it. He didn't want to hurt his best friend. But he couldn't keep the truth from her. "I'm sorry, Aya," he said shamefully, almost like he was apologising, "But I...I can't be with you. I...I like guys, ok?"

Aya could not have taken the news any worse. She begged, pleaded with him, to just give her a chance. She insisted that maybe, the reason why he didn't like any of the girls at school was because he liked her. She insisted that she'd been there for him all these years, so he should at least give her a chance. And he refused, but that didn't stop Aya.

She called him constantly. She left elaborate gifts at his house. She spammed his social media. She flooded his locker with love letters. She was willing to do anything, to get him to out with her.

In the end, Kousei blocked her, and then, face-to-face, told her he never wanted to see her again. But still, it wasn't enough to keep her away. Neither were the threats of being expelled by the teachers. Nor were the security cameras that Kousei's parents had installed.

Kousei eventually found a boyfriend. He was a good guy, but thanks to Aya, he didn't stay very long. Neither did the one after that. Or the one after that.

When Kousei confronted Aya about it, she insisted that she wasn't doing anything wrong. Kousei just needed to stop messing around, and choose someone who would truly make him happy, someone who really deserved a great guy like him. She told him that he needed to choose her, because there wasn't anyone else that was better for him.

Kousei was at his breaking point. He couldn't take Aya's meddling anymore. He knew that there was someone out there who was better for him. Someone who wouldn't try to force him into dating her. Someone he'd truly, and honestly love. Someone who'd protect him from Aya...

So he knew exactly what he wanted, whe Kyubey approached him. Kousei knew all about magical girls; some of the girls in his class had made contracts with Kyubey. Some had even become witches. And he was ready to make a contract of his own.

Kousei knew that he could wish Aya away. Make it so that she never existed. But he wasn't cruel enough to do that; sure, he wanted her gone, but not badly enough to kill her. So instead, he decided that he'd meet the man of his dreams instead. Someone who truly loved him, and who'd be by his side forever and ever, no matter what.

"Please, Kyubey...I want to meet my future husband!"

The creature cocked its head at him. "Is that it?"

Kousei paused a minute, thinking of a better way to word his wish. "Yes. But I just want to meet him," he answered, "Don't make it so that we definitely fall in love, or anything, I just wanna meet him, and let things develop naturally, ok? Oh, and make it so that no matter what Aya does, he'll never, ever leave me, ok?"

"Very well."

And in that instant, the creature's ears fluttered, and Kousei felt a searing pain course through him. It was like being burned alive...

And then, in his palm, was an egg-shaped, blue gem.

And just as promised, a new boy, Watari, transferred to Kousei's class the next day, and the two boys hit it off right away. Soon, they entered a relationship, and before long, almost the entire school knew about Kousei and Watari. They were so loved-up, it was almost sickening. But Kousei didn't care. With Watari by his side, he was the happiest that he'd ever been. And the best part was, he even protected him from Aya, not letting him get within five feet of her.

But the sight of Kousei happy with another, another boy, no less, drove Aya crazy. She'd been there for Kousei all these years, sharing his smiles, his tears, his hopes, his fears...She was the one who deserved him, and yet, out of nowhere, he'd gone and chosen this Watari freak over her. No amount of stalking, or death threats, or anything else she did would make him leave her Kousei alone.

So when Kyubey approached her, Aya knew exactly what she wanted.

It was supposed to be just another date. Kousei was gonna keep it simple; get pizza, and cuddle on the sofa while they played videogames.

He arrived at Watari's house around seven. He didn't answer, so he let himself in.

And the sight he was met with, as he walked into the living room was enough to blacken his soul gem almost immediately.

Watari lay dead on the floor, having been savaged beyond all recognition. Bits of his innards were strewn around on the floor. There was blood everywhere.

And in the middle of the horrific scene was Aya, brandishing a soul gem, as well as a huge axe.

"Aya...What the hell have you done?!"

Aya turned to face Kousei, tears streaming down her face. "I got rid of him, Kousei," she said with a shaky, trembling tone, "Now, you'll finally give me a chance..."

Kousei shook. For all of the times she'd begged, and begged him to go out with her, for all of the times she'd insisted that she deserved him, and that he should give her a chance, and all of the past boyfriends of his she'd driven away, and now, after she'd killed the boy he was going to marry...It was beyond him that she could even think that she still deserved him. That she deserved to have anyone love her at all.

He shot at her soul gem, killing her in an instant. And then he fell to his knees, sobbing. Watari, his dear, sweet Watari, was gone. There was nothing left in the world for him. No reason to go on. Not without him.

And with that, Kousei's soul gem blackened completely. He faded away, a final tear streaming down his cheek, as his soul gem turned into a grief seed.

@Shiny Blue Gardevoir No, but I did like my best friend and she wasn't interested... And I would've tried to beg and do that, but that would have made it worse...
