    Amusingly enough, Darkrai's early design actually still has traces in current canon materials - if you ever saw the original Japanese Logo for The Rise of Darkrai (Movie 10), simply referred to as "Dialga VS Palkia VS Darkrai" in Japan, you'll probably notice that the S in the "VS" part is stylized just like the red bit on Beta Darkrai... which is a nifty little holdover, honestly.
