The Start of Something New
It was the next day. The day you start your journey as a Pokémon Trainer. Nanette weakly opens her eyes. "Wha-what just happened?" she wondered out loud. Marina was looking over after her. "M-Marina?" Nanette checked the time and then...
"OH NO! I'VE OVERSLEPT THANKS TO LAST NIGGHHHHHTTTTTT!"
The two sisters started to run quickly to the Pokemon lab. They were punished by the Straiton City School's teacher for being late to class many times. They didn't want to get late this time. Nanette knew if they ran at this pace, they could make it on time. While they were running, Nanette saw her friend Mikey running at the same direction from the other side of the road. It looks like the Daisy Sisters aren't the only ones who're running late.
Eventually, everyone made it to the lab. The Daisy sisters and Mikey panted heavily. "Hey! Looks like you came on time!" Glorysia said, relieved to see her childhood friends again. "This is why I told everyone to wake up early," Cheren said with his hands on his hips. "You sound like my mom..." Ash murmured thinking Cheren didn't hear it. "What was that?!" Cheren yelled, upset. "Nothing! Never mind!" Ash apologized. Bianca palmed her face out of embarrassment.
Behind them was a young woman in her twenties, Professor Aurea Juniper herself. She was a normal sized teen with brown hair. She wore a light blue lab coat covering her white shirt and was wearing a green skirt.
"So it looks like everyone did make in time," Professor Juniper said with a smile. "I'm pretty sure you all are excited. A Pokémon Journey awaits you! It's a time full of surprises. You are going to have fun with your Pokémon, but danger also awaits you. If you ever encounter them, use your Pokémon to protect yourself. However, they're not always your protectors, but friends. Do you understand?" Professor Juniper asked them, receiving nods from all the kids. "Very well. Now where...?"
Suddenly, an 18-year old boy with a 13-year old girl and a 10-year old girl bump into the Professor. "UGH!" Juniper choked. She nearly broke her arm. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" Serena said out of anger. "Yeah, and who are you?!" Cheren added.

"OK! One of these will become your first Pokémon and eventually one of your friends," the Professor said by gesturing to the Poké Balls placed on a table. "These Poké Balls contain Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokémon, Tepig, the Fire Pig Pokémon, and Oshawott, the Sea Otter Pokémon. Who would like to go first?"
Bianca, Cheren and Nanette step up. "All righty then! Nanette first!" Professor Juniper said after noticing the three of them. She knew what Pokémon they wanted from the start. "Everyone is really cute, but I'll choose this one," Nanette grabbed a Poké Ball and pushed the center of the button to open it.
A beam of white light shoot out of the Poké Ball. It revealed a tiny orange and black pig with a red circle on its tail. It was Tepig. She smiled at it. "You're so cute. Why don't you and I go on a journey and explore many places?" she asked it. The Fire Pig stared at Nanette for a few seconds and then smiled and agreed, saying something the Professor used to be surprised at. "Yeah! I'm Gigi, and I'm a female! Happy to be with ya!" Nanette just smiled, however, as the first time she and her friends actually heard a Pokémon talk was at the age of 6.
The other two Trainers nodded and grabbed the remaining Poké Balls, pressing the center to open them. Two beams of white light shoot out and reveal a bipedal snake-like Pokémon with a leaf-shaped tail and a otter-like Pokémon with a shell on its belly. They were Snivy and Oshawott.
"Hey there Snivy! Let's be friends!" Bianca said to the Grass Snake. "Hello there Oshawott! Let's do our best to win the Pokémon League!" Cheren said to the Sea Otter. Snivy, who is revealed to be a female named Ivy, jumps into her Trainer's shoulder and licks her face. "H-hey! Stop! That tickles!" Bianca said before she started laughing. Cheren blushes slightly at the lucky girl, chuckling. He then looks back at his Pokémon, who gave a confident grin. "Right! By the way, I'm a male named Cedmar!"
"That settles it! As for the rest of you..." Professor Juniper started before suddenly realizing something. There were only three Poké Balls meant for three Trainers, but what if I gave the others different Pokémon? "Er... Give me a moment please," she finished out loud before leaving to get more Pokémon. The three lucky Trainers gave out a worried expression. "That's odd. The Professor has never done this before," Cheren said. He had studied Pokémon a lot more often than his friends and also arrived early during classes. "Geez, you can say that again," Bianca added. Nanette just nodded.

Professor Juniper came back with more Poké Balls. Another Oshawott walked alongside her. Unlike Cedmar, who had a fluff of hair with black tips, this one had no special features. Professor Juniper then looked at the other Trainers with a serious expression. "Okay, listen to me carefully. You've seen another Oshawott, I know, but the third one you'll see had a terrible experience with humans in the past. As a result, it was traumatized towards humans and became a troublemaker. I have worked very hard for it to come near me and stop his troubles. It worked, but it was really hard. I'm trusting you to give all the friendship and love to this Pokémon and the others. Can you do it? Can I trust all of you?" Juniper asked.
"We'll do our best," Glorysia answered, the other Trainers nodding. "Are you sure?" Juniper asked Glory, as the 14-year old got a Fennekin named Skylinda and Riolu named Kestin while on the way to Unova. "Please trust me, Professor!" Glory pleaded. "OK then Glorysia Melody, I will," Juniper replied. "Everyone, please step back, so they don't get startled," she then suggested.
Everyone grabbed a Poke Ball or two (including the walking Oshawott's in Ash's case) and pressed the buttons. Ash suddenly dropped his Balls and the strangest thing happened to him after the Pokémon were sent out, including a yellow mouse named Pikachu. Everyone covered their eyes, and when the light faded, Juniper took a peek and becomes shocked.
