On The Bright Side: OTBS Chapter 10: Not Doomed

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 Nate and Noah work to formulate a plan following the instructions of the mysterious blondie. Will there plan succeed? Will it blow up in their faces? Will it end with them all being mind controlled into doing the bidding of a tyrant ruler? Find out in the next few upcoming chapters.
“No, we’re not doomed,” I told Nate annoyed. “We can do this. It won’t be easy, but with us two and your two friends, we can do this.” I said.

“Well, how do you think we are going to stop the principal of the entire school. How are we going to stop him? Even if we got the necklace, he could still just use the stuff he already has.” He replied.

“Well, yeah, but not if we rewire whatever circuitry he put in the brain-computing interfaces of the masks that he’d use to control people. A slight rewire or even just a cut wire would put his entire plan in shambles. Then we get the necklace and get out without being seen.” I theorize.

He looked at me thoughtfully, “you know, that might just work, let’s do it!” He said before grabbing his phone and texting Kara and Mikey to come by Nate’s house after they had free time today. “So, how are we going to get in and out unnoticed?” Nate asked.

“Well, I could just make another spray diversion.” I said.

“No, they already think the first one was you, you can’t do that. You can’t even be the one to go in there, it’ll have to be the three of us sneaking in while you make a distraction.” He replied.

“That way, they know I wasn’t in his office and we won’t have to worry about Colstrom walking in on you! Genius!” I said. “The only questions are; how are you going to find the necklace and do you know how to rewire the masks’ circuitry?”

He considered what I said for a few moments before his eyes lit up and he said. “We can use the necklace’s map to ping his necklace to track it! Oh, but the mask should be easy, just get inside the wiring system and cut the main electrical wire leading from the power source to the interface.”

“Yeah, we’ve got this!” I say confident in our plan. “Now all we need to do is wait for the others to arrive so we can tell them the plan and then tomorrow we take the necklace.”

“Wait,” Nate said, “shouldn’t we wait until Tuesday?”

“Why?”

“It seemed to me like there was something significant going to happen on Tuesday at around 5:00 that would help us figure out what to do once we’d gotten what we needed. Otherwise, why would this ‘blondie’ dude have said Tuesday?” He asked.

“I guess that’s a good point.” I admit. “Well, then Tuesday it is, and in the mean time, we have to be on our best behavior, probably not even associating with each other at school. That way, Colstrom will think you still hate me for replacing your Noah.”

“Yeah, sorry about that,” he said. “But that should work.”

“Eh, it’s fine,” I said. “And now all we have to do is wait.”
