I looked up from the corner I was sleeping in. Rani was staring at the wall hatefully, as usual. Zag, a Zangoose, and Penn the Sandslash were whispering to each other, and sometimes they looked in my direction, though I could tell that they were trying to hide it. I stood up slowly in order to stretch, because my arms were feeling numb again. Besides, I was really bored. As I randomly walked around the room, my arms started hurting more, so I had to stop.
"Penn, what berries do I need to sneak this time?" I whispered to the icy-spiked Sandslash. He waited for a few seconds before replying, probably thinking of their names and what they did. "Lum. Get medicine." I nodded to show I had heard him, then waddled over to Rani's side of the room, deciding to pass the time with another nap and maybe a couple conversations before sunrise, when everyone had to start doing their jobs.
"Snagging some battle items couldn't hurt either." Rani suggested in a low tone as I settled down against the wall. "Like what?" I asked, frowning at the crack in my voice. "Lemme think...oh, I can't remember any good ones. You'll know if you see it. Humans have some really weird things, but the stuff helps." I almost laughed at the cryptic way Rani explained "battle items" but she didn't like being laughed at, so I just smiled before going to sleep.
