Kalos Adventures - Episode One

by 11mitsukii

11mitsukii This story is about Rachel and her life as a Pokémon Trainer. In Episode one she gets her very first Pokémon, and sets off. She battles a girl named Elliana, and they soon decide to travel together.
Ring ring, ring ring was Rachel’s alarm clock early one morning. Rachel was awake before her alarm clock went off this morning. Why is that? Well, it’s Rachel’s first day as a Pokémon trainer! She picked out a plain white shirt, a denim jacket, and a skirt that matched the shirt. Rachel slid on her pink converse, grabbed her backpack that was filled with essentials, got her toast out of the toaster and hugged her mother goodbye. Now she went out the door, and began walking to the professor’s lab to get her very first Pokémon.
Soon enough, the girl was standing outside of the lab in a daydream. The professor walked out of his lab and waved his hand in front of her face. Rachel came back to reality and apologized. “I’m very sorry, Professor Sycamore!” The Professor smiled. “Nothing to worry about! This is your first day as a trainer, isn’t it?” Rachel nodded. “Well, come inside and you can pick your very first Pokémon!” Rachel excitedly bounced inside the lab. A few minutes after the Professor disappeared down the corridor, three excited Pokémon that must be the starters ran down the hall all excitedly. Professor Sycamore ran down the corridor and said to the Pokémon, “Calm down, and please sit down for Rachel to get a better look at you trouble-makers!” Rachel giggles as all three of the Pokémon sat down in front of her. Professor Sycamore approached Rachel and handed her a Pokédex. “That’ll be useful when you start battling people and catching other Pokémon.” Professor Sycamore stood behind the sitting Pokémon, and Rachel proceeded to scan every one of them. The first one she scanned was Chespin, a grass type. The second was Fennekin, a fire type. And last but not least was Froakie, a water type. After a long moment of consideration, Rachel finally decided on Fennekin. Rachel waved to the Professor goodbye, and returned Fennekin to her Pokéball.
Rachel ran down the sidewalk in excitement, not stopping to look at her hometown for one last time. Soon enough, she entered the woods that connected her hometown to the next city where there would be a gym. Rachel wasn’t as scared of the woods as she was in her childhood, and the rumors about dangerous and monstrous Pokémon all washed away. It was still dawn, very early in the morning, and the mist that settled over the floor made it feel even earlier. Soon her sprinting turned into walking as bug Pokémon scuttled about, looking at the trainer for a few seconds and returning back to their own business. Rachel stopped in her tracks when another trainer held up a Pokéball up ahead and said, “Hey there! Do you want to battle me?” Rachel thought for a moment, and nodded. She knew she was inexperienced, but hey, always room for more experience!
Rachel stood on her end of the imaginary battlefield, and the other trainer threw a Pokéball out onto the battlefield, revealing a Roselia. Rachel was unfamiliar with the Pokémon and decided to scan it. “Roselia, the Thorn Pokémon. When thieves try to take away the flowers Roselia grows, it leaves a shower of poisonous thorns in return. Roselia is a Grass-Poison type.” ( I put information from my Pokémon book into my own words. ) Rachel smiled. “Roselia seems like a strong Pokémon! Go, Fennekin!” Fennekin was let out onto the battlefield. The trainer smiled. “That also seems very strong! Roselia, use Stun Spore to slow Fennekin down at first, and then use Absorb!” Fennekin ran away from the Roselia’s spore to the other side of the battlefield out of fear, but it soon wafted over to her and paralysis took over. “Fennekin! When it comes close.. try to use.. Ember!” Already, Rachel was nervous about winning this battle. Roselia cautiously came closer, but lucky, Fennekin had enough strength in her to use Ember. It hit Roselia by a little bit, resulting in the Grass Type to have a burn. Roselia still went toward what her trainer said, still. Roselia use Absorb on the Pokémon but it wasn’t very effective. “Fennekin! Try to keep moving, it might take the paralysis away!” Fennekin obeyed, rolling around and moving until she was normal again. “Alright! Now use Scratch!” Fennekin used scratch, but it didn’t hit. “Roselia, use Poison Sting!” Rachel’s eyes widened. “Dodge!” Fennekin ran away from the poisonous barbs, and felt confident about the battle by now. “Use Ember again!” Fennekin used Ember once more, and Roselia became weaker. “Roselia! Synthesis!” Roselia nodded and began to heal herself. Fennekin growled, and Rachel said, “Use Scratch and try to stop her from healing herself!” She nodded and went in for scratch. Roselia was not expecting it, but the other trainer knew it was the opportunity for a move. “Poison Sting!” The barbs this time hit Fennekin critically. “Now is your time to use Absorb!” Roselia began absorbing a bit of energy from Fennekin, and Fennekin fainted. “Oh no..” Rachel mumbled and returned Fennekin to her Pokéball. Rachel dug into her backpack and fished out 2200 yen (equivalent to 20 dollars). “Here. You can buy lunch for you and your Roselia.” Rachel handed the prize yen to the girl. The person said, “Thanks. My name is Ellianna, by the way. What’s yours?” Rachel smiled. “My name is Rachel! I started my journey today.” Ellianna shook Rachel’s hand. “I started about four weeks ago. Do you want to eat lunch with us? My treat.” Rachel’s stomach growled. “Yes please, I only ate a piece of toast today!” Ellianna led Rachel out of the woods, her blonde ponytail swaying.
They soon reached Lumiose City, and Rachel was wowed at how large it was. Ellianna led them to a large café, where they ordered Pokémon food, and their own food, Rachel settling with a bit of sushi and Ellianna grilled rice balls. They ate and chatted while Roselia, Luxio (Elianna’s other Pokémon), and Fennekin finished their bowls of food. “So.. have you ever beat a gym leader?” Ellianna wiped her mouth with her napkin. “Three.” Rachel nodded, eating another piece of sushi. “Have you ever considered traveling with someone?” Ellianna nodded. “It gets lonely when you are traveling alone.” Rachel smiled. “What if we journeyed a bit together?” Ellianna smiled. “I would like to!”
Soon, they finished their meals and payed the bill. They walked out of the café and decided to get a bit of dessert. They went to a bakery and picked out a few treats. The girls were very excited to begin a journey with each other. “The gym leader only allows people who have four or more gym badges in, so both of us are uneligible at the moment.” Rachel nodded, and looked at the tallest building where the gym was inside of. “I can’t wait to battle the gym leader!” Ellianna smiled. “Neither can I!” The two girls heading to the next town, in hopes of new gym badges and battles.
