“…Citizens all over Boston have been saying that they have seen men in black cloaks causing unbelievable things to happen,”
No, no, no. This can’t be happening.
“These men have been said to be making people fly into the air, make lightning to come down at random times, turning people into animals,”
He’s gone, isn’t he? Besides, he died 73 years ago. Unless…
“People are saying no one is safe in Boston, right now. The state police are advising everyone to stay inside for a couple days while they investigate—”

“Matthew!” Matthew Flynn spun around. His wife, Trish had just entered the kitchen, where he was listening to the radio. “Turn that thing off. We’re fine. Nothing’s going to hurt us.”
Matthew turned the radio off, and leaned up against the counter.

“They’re only No-Majs. They don’t know what they’re talking about,” Trish went over to the refrigerator.

“But someone can’t just make it up and get half of Boston to play along!”

“Hey, if you’re so worried, why don’t you go down there and tell them what’s what. You are an Auror after all,” After she finished putting the groceries away, she walked over to her husband, who looked down at his shoes. Matthew sighed.

“Ex-Auror,” Said Matthew, with an uneasy feeling in his stomach. Trish kissed his cheek, her long brown hair brushing up against his neck, and walked out of the room. Matthew lifted his head slightly to watch her leave.
Ever since he had been fired, he hadn’t touched his wand since. He exhaled a shaking breath, the memory of that day still haunted him.

June 26th

The next morning, Matthew woke up to see that Trish had already left for work. Now being unemployed, Matthew usually just sat around the house, listening to the radio, or reading.
He walked down the stairs and went into the kitchen.
He got himself a glass of water, and went to turn on the radio. But it didn’t turn on.

“Come on, you stupid thing,” The lights started to flicker. “What the—“ Matthew backed away from the counter, looking around the room. The lights started flickering faster.
Suddenly, all the glass in the house shattered, including the glass of water in his hand. He was so surprised, he slipped and fell onto the floor, knocking himself out…

Later…

Matthew slowly opened his eyes. He could barley see anything. He tried to move, but it seemed like he was tied to something. He struggled a little more, rocking, presumably, the chair he was sitting on.
Then, several candles, which were hanging on the walls, lit up, revealing a man. He was very tall and dressed in black robes. His dark eyes felt like they were piercing into Matthew’s soul. He wanted to run, scream, hide. But he couldn’t move.

“You are ex-Auror Matthew Gabriel Flynn, yes?” The man asked.

“No,” Matthew finally said.

“No?”

“No,” He repeated. “I’m his brother. Matthew is out of town.”

Where is he?” The man said in a dangerous voice. Matthew flinched.

“I’ll never tell you,” Luckily, he was quite the actor. He had fooled his wife into thinking he hadn’t been fired for about two weeks once.

“Tell me or die!” The man brought out his wand, pointing it directly at Matthew’s chest.

“Fine, fine! I’ll show you on a map,” Said Matthew.

“Why can you just tell me?”

“I know where it is on a map. I just don’t know what it’s called,” The man raised an eyebrow, but flicked his wand and the ropes that tied him to the chair fell to the floor. He stood up. “I have a map right here…” He put his hand into his pocket. There was nothing in there, he was just buying himself time.

Well?” At this, Matthew took his hand out of his pocket and punched the man square in the face. He fell backwards onto the ground. Matthew snatched the wand from him and held it up.

“Matthew Flynn,” He kept a straight face. “And you are?” The man chuckled evilly.

“Jayson, if you would” The man didn’t move, he was still on the floor, as if he didn’t mind getting shot with a spell coming out of his own wand.

“Pleasure,”
Suddenly the door, which Matthew had no idea about, slammed open. And in came several people from MACUSA (The Magical Congress of the United States of America).

“Flynn? What are you—“ The Minister came into view. “Why are—“

“I’d like to ask the same thing…” But before Matthew could look back at the man in black, a loud SNAP was heard. He quickly looked back and saw that Jayson had Appearated away. He lowered the wand. “Gone.”

Later…

The MACUSA had taken Matthew back home, and Trish was waiting outside the front door.

“Matt!” She squeezed Matthew very tightly, and didn’t seem to want to let go. “Are you hurt? What happened?”

“I’m fine, Trish,” He said, slowly. “And I’m not quite sure what happened. I accidentally knocked myself out, then there was this man who, probably, wanted to kill me.” He sighed.
The Minister came up to the couple.

“Flynn, may I have a word?” Matthew looked at his wife, then to the Minister. He followed him over to the side of the house. “This man, the one that kidnapped you, is trying to kill off Aurors. We need you back.”

“Back? Are you crazy?” He exclaimed. “Last time I destroyed an entire No-Maj building! I can’t just go back, I’ll do it all over again! I haven’t even touched my wand since that happened.” Matthew’s heart was pounding. The memory of all those people running and screaming, trying to get out of the way of the falling building…

“That wasn’t your fault—“

“Yes it was! If it wasn’t my fault, then I wouldn’t have been fired,” Matthew exhaled. The Minister put a hand on his shoulder.

“Just think about it, okay?” At this, he left.

June 27th

“I’m in,” Said Matthew, opening the door to the Minister’s office.

“Good,” A voice replied, sitting in the chair, which was facing the opposite wall. The owner of the voice stood up. Matthew gasped and took out his wand. It was Jayson.
But before Matthew could utter one spell— “Avada Kedavra!”
