V For Vendetta: Eternal: Episode II - Three-score Barrels of Powder

by Vacat1o

Vacat1o So here is the second episode, finally. V continues his plan, to cure Vlatava, by infiltrating inside the Parliament Palace of Vlatava, which now serves as an operation base for the terrorists. He wants to blow it up using thermite bombs.
As the sun kept going down on the horizon, most of the citizens went inside their houses. After some time, the streets started to clear until a calm and smooth classical music enveloped the entire city.

"People of Vlatava, don't be afraid. The old days of despair are over! Now It's time that we unleash the despair upon them! It's time to stop everyone trampling over this country! Wars, terrorists, everything destroyed it. It's time to chase these monsters who took our freedom out of this country. How many times did you wake up and wish they disappeared, how many times did you dream of a normal life and a sweet peace inside this country? The only way we'll get freedom for ourselves is to unleash the revolution from our spirit, and fight. They took land, lives, money, and for what? Just so they could use us as human shields. For mad I may be, but I will never close my mouth and I will make them hear my voice, and as well as yours. They thought they could hijack the broken democracy of this region to gain leadership, then use their position to launch attacks, and use us as human shields, thinking that nobody would fight against them. Well, they were wrong, we are going to destroy them. No one will stop us. " a massive crowd of people gathered outside listening to the voice coming from the megaphones attached to the pillars "The day of your extinction is on the fifth of November, the Guy Fawkes night. I say that we should bring this special day to Vlatava."

It became very noisy on the streets of Hirfield, the capital and the largest city of Vlatava as well as it's cultural, industrial, metropolitan area and financial center. It is located in the southeast of the country, less than sixty km north of the Arching Run, a long stream that drains into the Bulgarian border. It was evening in the city and an uproar on the streets. Most of the people were interested in the message, and some were confused and didn't understand what was happening. Not only the citizens but the terrorists too, unlike the citizens, they were much more confused by the fact that somehow, a message was transmitted in the entire city.

"Alright, everyone, back in your houses!" a group of three terrorists came and started giving orders to everyone, they were armed and as well as angry

The citizens were standing still and didn't say anything until they decided to step forward, one by one started approaching the threats.

"I said back in your houses!" the terrorist yelled again

The civilians didn't listen and they approached their enemies, ready to fight against them. The terrorists got angry and started shooting in the sky to scare the people, but it was no use, they still approached.

"Get in your houses already!" said the terrorist again, attempting to shoot the civilians.

He was ready to press on the trigger until a loud explosion broke the suspense. Across the buildings, a strong light caught everyone's attention, followed by a mushroom-like cloud, then revealing a long crane crashing. Soon afterward the streetlamps started losing power and their light faded away, leaving the streets in darkness, the only light source being the sun, which was stuck in the clouds. The terrorists, nervous and confused, jumped in their truck and started driving where the explosion took place, leaving the citizens alone.

"Oh, isn't it lovely when things happen at the right place, at the right time?" said V, sitting on the top of a building, holding an old phone. He hung up a call with a contact named 'bomb' and then looked at the Pelsley Keep or the Parliament Keep Of Vlatava, a colossal building that now serves as a ‘fortress’ for the terrorists. The building didn't have any lights on, it was dark inside, just like the entire city, there was no power, no light on the streets or inside buildings, "Ah, it's so beautiful to see the people of this nation fighting against these monsters! It's time they meet the new hope and greet the freedom."

V watched the sun as it went down on the horizon, leaving Hirfield in pure darkness. The dark clouds kept sprawling across the sky, making the moon hard to see. V left from the roof and started jumping on building to building until he arrived at an alleyway. He opened a dumpster and took a black bag out, filled with packages containing thermite bombs. V left from the alley with the bag and slowly walked towards the Hempen Square, which is located in the central Hirfield. It was a lovely place during daytime, people came to sell their goods, and in the past, it was a place where lawbreakers were executed. It's an urban open space with lots of stalls and the center of the square boasts a small park and fountains which ends at the Pelsley Keep. During the night, the Hempen Square was abandoned, only terrorists would go through there, just for patrolling, but nobody was there. V dashed through the square with no problem, the terrorists were investigating the explosion so there were small chances someone was patrolling through there. He was close to the Keep, but two soldiers holding M16 rifles came from the northeast corner, V stopped and hid after a fountain.

“So, what happened?”

“A crane smashed into the power lines and created a blackout in the city...”

“Well we got the backup generators, so it shouldn't be a problem.”

“Sure, but it will take some time to get them going, and we still don't know who's the culprit.”

“They might be one of us.”

“What makes you think that?”

“Who else they might be?”

“That guy which sent the message throughout the city, we still don't know who is he.”

“Sure, that's another possibility.”

V waited until they left and then continued to dash towards the Keep, this time faster. As he got closer, V could see the flashlights of the soldiers, it made sense for them to be at the Keep, after all, it was their ‘fortress’. Count Vertigo was the original owner of the Keep and he planned to reconstruct it, but he didn't have too much time and he lost power, so the building was slightly reconstructed. There are four floors in total, including one underground. Outside the palace there is plenty of open space in all directions, mainly consisting of parks and gardens. V went in the west side of the Keep, where two soldiers were patrolling, he distracted them and then started climbing on a pipe. V left the bag hanging over his left shoulder and then reached the second floor of the Keep and entered through the window. The inside was slightly illuminated, and some soldiers had rifles with flashlights attached to them. V started placing the thermite bombs on the top of fire extinguishers and beneath the sprinkler systems. He had to do it on the second floor, the third floor, and the fourth floor. There weren't so many soldiers inside the Keep and there was no energy so no one saw the bombs nor V. When he was done, V went to the third floor by jumping through the window and then climbing on the pipe until he reached a balcony. There was a soldier there, smoking and looking around. V climbed on the balcony and then entered, slowly, inside the building. A lot of voices could be heard on that floor, there were ten rooms, a long hallway, which would go around on that floor, and in the center, the stairs which connected the floors. A few soldiers were in the hallway, entering and exiting rooms.

“If someone goes down, then my plan is ruined…” V whispered, “I must get rid of them.”

He placed the bag on the ground and then drew two daggers from his belt. V started to run, making a lot of noise on the hallway. He was ready to kill two soldiers which were going towards the stairs, when they turned around, pointing their flashlight towards V. He stabbed them in their liver and then left them on the floor. Afterward, V continued his plan and placed the thermite bombs on the fire extinguishers. Suddenly, the power came back, activating the security cameras. V turned around and saw the soldiers getting out from their rooms.

“Oh dear,” he said as he grabbed his daggers

V quickly dashed between every soldier, slicing their necks, then he grabbed his bag and ran towards the balcony.

“Intruder!” yelled the soldier from the balcony

“I think you have other important matters of your own to get back to,” V said, “one of them being surviving.”

V held another rope dagger, threw it in the soldier's chest, and then jumped from the balcony, holding the rope and pulling the soldier. He swung until he grabbed the ledge of a window from the first floor, then he fell on the ground. He started running away from the Keep while calling two contacts named ‘floor 2’ and ‘floor 3’ using his phone. After two minutes, V reached Hempen Square and looked at the Keep.

“Any moment now...” he said

Loud explosions could be heard from the building. V started to chuckle as he saw the second and third floor collapsing over the first floor. Men were yelling and running, as the sparks continued to fly around the building. Behind him, four soldiers slowly approached him, holding SMGs and Glocks. One of them shot V in the shoulder, he quickly grabbed a dagger and turned around.

"So you were the bastard who sent that message and blew up the palace!"

"My dear friend," V said, calmly, "I've no quarrel, I only wish to return this country to its rightful owners. "

"You have no quarrel, yet you cause a blackout, blow up a building, and murder!"

"Just what is right and what is wrong?" V began, "to begin with, just what do I need to do to get rid of you all?"

V approached the soldiers ready to stab one of them.

"Lay down your weapons, surrender, and I'll consider letting you live."

V stopped and started to laugh in front of them, then he suddenly stopped and stared at everyone.

"I make you the same offer," V said as he began to walk slowly toward his enemies which were ready to shoot him, "I won't ask again."

He threw the bag behind and then drew another dagger. V threw them at the soldiers which were holding SMGs and then dashed forward, kicking the leg of the first one and then snapping his neck. The last one started shooting V, but it didn't seem like bullets were affecting him.

"What are you?" asked the last soldier

"I am more than an ordinary human," V said as he took a dagger, "a symbol of hope."

He stabbed the soldier in the leg then knocked him down, to the ground.

"Your days as a terrorist are done," V said, "tell your superiors I said as much."

"My...superiors?" the soldier asked in confusion as he slowly got up from the ground, "never seen a person, mate, it's always been just secret messages."

"Well then," V said, grabbing his bag, "transmit my message to them."

The soldier slowly walked away, with his hand on his wound until he stopped.

"Who should I say you are?" he asked

"You don't," V replied, "They'll know."

Also I forgot to tag you @Mockingchu

Sorry for the delay, I like to leave everything on the last day. I had this in my docs for a long time, never touched it, but here I am with the second episode. I was so close to hit 2000 words, but I didn't have too many ideas and I wanted to post it. Hopefully I'll come with the third episode sooner.

So I actually did some research and CO2 extinguishers, which have pressure of 800-900 psi, aren't that strong and can cause serious damage to people, but not buildings...
Buuuuut let's just assume that they're strong enough to destroy buildings in DC: Eternal. I don't know, using just bombs to destroy a building was boring so I made it more interesting with thermite bombs and fire extinguishers, there's a chemical reaction between them that makes the fire extinguisher go KABOOM.

And yes there will be explosions in every episode.
