Pokemon the Journey: Book 1: Sinnoh - Chapter 2: Yay! Friendship!

by YourLittleSylvia

YourLittleSylvia Okay, um... Maybe it's more difficult than I thought, being a Pokemon Trainer. I'm soaked, I'm hurt, this Lucas kid is helping me, and Piplup probably hates my guts by now. I don't even know why he helped me back then! 'If you don't help me, I'll blame myself'?! What kind of motivation is that for someone else!? And this Barry kid seems to be more reckless than I can even afford. At least he and Turtwig got along well. *sigh* Oh well. I guess it's off to do some more 'Pokemon Trainering'.
Well, I was dry, at least. Lucas, the boy who actually seems to be Professor Rowan's assistant, has been doing some first-aid stuff on my back, which still stung from what felt like TEN THOUSAND SHARP-AS-KNIVES STARLY BEAKS! Ow... The pain!

I shouldn't complain, though. This is what being a Trainer's all about. I help people, put myself in danger, and (reluctantly) work together with my Pokemon.

Except Piplup isn't mine. Heck, I don't even think he likes me.

Why couldn't I have gotten Turtwig back then? That would've literally been so much easier, as Turtwig is the most easy-going of all the starters out there EVER!

Lucas put down whatever he was holding from the first-aid kit and walked around in front of me (I was sitting at the time, only the back of my shirt was pulled up so he could see what had happened to my back). "Stay here. I'll see if the Professor has any Pokemon that can help speed up the healing process," he told me. I nodded, waiting.

I saw something poke out from the corner of the wall where Lucas left. It was blue.

Piplup?

"What're you doing here, Piplup?" I asked it.

Piplup walked forward, examining me carefully. He turned around to see my back and I think he flinched, running off, but not before giving me an odd glance.

I wonder what that was all about? Does Piplup actually hate me?

Soon, Lucas came running back, a Poke Ball in his hands. "Lucky us!" he exclaimed, grinning. "The Professor had a Chansey he was holding for a Trainer! He said it'd be okay if we asked her to heal you!"

I smiled. "T-that's great!"

Lucas tossed the Poke Ball gently into the air. It released a Chansey, as promised. "Chansey!" she cried happily.

"Hi Chansey, I'm Lucas, and this is my friend, Sylvia," Lucas told Chansey. "A little while ago, she and her friend Barry got attacked by a flock of Starly and now Sylvia's really hurt. You think you can help us?"

Chansey bounced, crying her name joyously and turned to see my back. A warm wave of healing was emitted from her short paws (arms? Stubs? What are those?) and in a matter of minutes, I felt the pain had all went away. Lucas gently rolled the back of my shirt back down and I straightened it up, standing. "Thank you!" I exclaimed.

Chansey cheered before Lucas returned her to her Poke Ball.

I turned to Lucas. "You too. Honestly, I didn't know things like this could happen out here..."

Lucas blushed. "I-I hardly did anything. I mean, c'mon. You're the one who risked your neck--or back, as the case might be--to save your friend back there."

I nodded. "I guess." Sighing, I led Lucas back out to the main research room, where Barry was talking to Professor Rowan. "Y'know, though, I'm kinda glad things turned out this way. Otherwise, I might've waited in Pallet Town for weeks or months for all I knew, since I can't afford another plane ticket back home."

"Oh?" Lucas asked, intrigued. "Where do you live?"

"Snowpoint City," I told him. "I can't afford a plane ticket, my dad who lives in Twinleaf Town kicked me out of his house, and now I had no choice but to follow Barry into a world of disaster."

Lucas looked sympathetic. "Wow, I'm so sorry," he said.

I shrugged, smiling half-heartedly. "Whaddaya gonna do?" I asked him before finally meeting up with the Professor.

"Ho, so you arrive," Professor Rowan said.

I nodded. "Yeah." Looking around, I realized Barry was nowhere to be seen. "Where'd Barry go?"

"He was too impatient to see what I had in store for him and ran off."

Lucas grinned, moving to the Professor's side. "Oh, I think you'll love it!" he exclaimed.

I was confused, but shrugged and waited for the Professor to continue. "I'm interested," I told him. I was so tempted to say something silly, but I guessed now wasn't the time.

Professor Rowan nodded and handed me a Poke Ball. "Here. I sense you and Piplup will grow to be fantastic partners."

This shocked me. "W-wait, WHAAAT?! P-Piplup?! But... I-I thought he hated me! After yelling at him, and--"

"Oh no, he's intrigued by you," Lucas told me with a grin. "He's been kinda spying on you! Heck, I'd say the little sucker wants to go on this journey with you!"

I shook my head. "Piplup wouldn't listen to me! How'm I supposed to be a Trainer with a Pokemon who doesn't listen?"

Lucas smiled. "I'll help you out."

I blinked. "R-really?"

"Sure!"

I gripped Piplup's Poke Ball tightly, considering it, then sighed, relaxing my arm again. "Fine," I said. "If you think we'll be such good buds, then let's go for it."

Lucas cheered and whispered to himself, "YES!"

Wonder why?

Professor Rowan beamed at me. "There's one more thing. In order to help you on your journey, I believe you'll need this," he told me, handing me a Pokedex. It was painted white, though, with little light pink accents. That was a cute touch! There was even a heart sticker on the front!

"Wow, thank you, Professor!" I exclaimed, putting the Pokedex into a nearby cup-holder pocket on my backpack. I had another one on the other side that was holding an actual water bottle (it was light blue and pretty tall).

"Hrm. I believe that is all you'll need from me to go on your journey. However, I would like to ask if you could also take Lucas with you."

Lucas and I glanced at each other. I wouldn't mind, of course, but why? "Why?" I asked him.

"Lucas has helped me quite a lot. I believe it is time for him to set out on his own adventure and make a name for himself rather than keep working in my laboratory," Rowan said. "Of course, he'll still get paid while journeying, but once his journey is over and he has found his purpose, he will go off on his own and no longer work as my assistant."

Lucas and I glanced at each other yet again, surprised, when our faces broke out into grins. This'll be fun!

"Alright, then, Lucas, I guess it's settled!"

Lucas nodded. "Yeah! Hope I can keep up!"

I giggled. "Same here! We're both beginners--I'm assuming--so let's just take it easy at first. Baby steps!"

He chuckled and nodded. "Welp, Professor," Lucas said, waving. "We're off!"

"Don't fall into another lake!" the Professor teased me.

"HEY!" I cried, giggling. "I can swim!"

Lucas and Professor Rowan chuckled as we left. "That's your retort?" Lucas asked me, still snickering. "'I can swim'?"

I folded my arms. "Well, ya know what? I can! Probably better than you!"

Lucas waved me off, but then thought for a moment. "Yeah, you're probably right."

I found this funny (don't judge me, I find the slightest things amusing!) and stared laughing. So did Lucas.

"Well, this is where we're going to go," he said to me, pointing to a Route ahead of us. "I'm assuming you've already said goodbye to your parents--" I nodded. "So we're just going to go. But before we go..." He pointed to a big building with a red roof. "That's a Pokemon Center. The building next to it with the blue roof is the Poke Mart. We'll need to keep this in mind for whenever we need to restock for our adventures, alright?" I nodded. "Good. NOW let's go."

I giggled and skipped ahead.

"Hey, have you ever caught a Pokemon before?"

I shook my head. "Nope, but I do know what to do when you want to. Y'know, weaken it with your Pokemon, toss the Poke Ball and the like."

Lucas chuckled. "Then I guess we'll skip that little tutorial, eh?"

I giggled. "Yep! C'mon, nothing could ruin this moment!" I tossed Piplup's Poke Ball in the sky. "Piplup, let's go!"

Piplup popped out of the Poke Ball and glared at me.

"What?" I asked, catching the Poke Ball as if fell back down. "I just wanted to let you out for some fresh air. Turns out, like it or not, we're stuck with each other, so we'll just have to deal with it."

Piplup sent me the dirtiest look I've ever seen, and it would've made me angry had Piplup not been so adorable!

"Aw, that's cute! You're glaring at me!"

I heard Lucas nervously chuckle near me. "M-maybe we should take some time to let you two get to know each other?"

I nodded to him, kneeling to his eye level. "Look, Pip. I'm sorry I yelled back there and I'm sorry we might've gotten off on the wrong foot. I messed up when I tossed your Poke Ball, I messed up when I walked into the tall grass with Barry, and I messed up when I yelled at you. I apologize. I just think we should start over again." I reached my hand out for a handshake. "Hi, I'm Sylvia, and I'm a beginner Trainer. This will be my first time seeing the world, just like you, and I hope you'll do it by my side as my partner, my Pokemon, and my friend."

Piplup took a long, hard look at me before swiftly turning his head away in rejection.

That took a stab at my heart, but I tried not to let the others see how bad it affected me. "Well, not to worry. This'll take time and patience," I told them both. Mostly Lucas, though.

Lucas furrowed his eyebrow, analyzing Piplup. "I don't get it. He's been friendly, yet prideful before. I don't get why he doesn't like you."

Maybe I wasn't meant to be liked by Pokemon after all, just like Dad's always told me.

"Well, like I said, with due time, maybe we will become friends. That's all I want. In the meantime, Piplup," his name got his attention. "I think you should walk around a bit. Unfortunately, you're stuck with me, so just stay close, alright? I'll only ask you to help us in battles, and we'll try to avoid those as much as possible."

Piplup huffed and turned away.

"Fine, be that way..." I muttered bitterly, frowning. Man, Piplup reminded me of my sister! The worst part was, my sister was WAY worse. I turned to Lucas. "By the way, don't you have a Pokemon?" I asked. "What is it?"

He smirked. "Come on out, Chimchar!"

His Poke Ball opened up in midair to see a little Chimp Pokemon falling into Lucas's arms. Chimchar nuzzled Lucas affectionately. I felt a pang of jealousy, wanting to be that close to a Pokemon, but I knew it would take time.

"Chimchar, meet my travel partner and friend, Sylvia! She's a new Trainer too, whose Pokemon is Piplup," Lucas introduced.

Chimchar waved to me and I waved back. He turned to Piplup, who scoffed and turned away, and flinched, surprised. This must've been unusual behavior for Piplup.

I wondered what was wrong with me.

"Eh, don't worry about Piplup," I told Chimchar. "I don't think he likes me very much..."

Chimchar glanced at me and then back at him, as though wondering why.

"Well, we should get going, right?" Lucas asked. "C'mon. Chimchar and I can lead. We're gone this way to get to Jubilife City before, so we know the shortcuts." Chimchar climbed onto Lucas's shoulder and agreed.

I nodded. "C'mon, Piplup!"

He huffed and folded his flippers, muttering stuff under his breath.

Shame I couldn't understand him. I'd love to hear all the insults he has prepared for me.

But actually, now that I think back on it, I think Piplup was actually indignantly muttering about how friendly I was. He wasn't used to me yet.

Piplup back in the day really confuses me.

If you can't tell, I'm telling this story after my Sinnoh journey. Notice how the title said "Book 1: Sinnoh?" Yeah. There's multiple books.

Or at least, there will be.

Aaaanyway.

Lucas, Piplup, Chimchar and I all cut through some woods. Wild Pokemon appeared, but Lucas and Chimchar fought them off, seeing as Piplup and I couldn't really work together quite well yet. Oh well, what're you gonna do?

Lucas gently took my hand into his and stopped.

I paused as well, blushing slightly. "W-what's wrong?" I asked.

"Shh." Lucas looked like he was straining to hear something.

I listened too. Buzzing...?

In the cartoons, this only meant Beedrill. Does this also mean Beedrill?

I saw a Kakuna up ahead. It glowed and turned into--

YEP. THIS MEANS BEEDRILL.

"RUN!" Lucas and I screamed at the same time, turning tail instantly. I saw Piplup trip as he tried to turn around.

"C'MON!" I screeched, sprinting back and scooping up Piplup with my arms, kicking up grass as I ran for my life after Lucas. "LUCAS, BEEDRILL ARE BUG-TYPES! HAVE CHIMCHAR USE EMBER OR SOMETHING!"

"HE CAN'T! CHIMCHAR DOESN'T KNOW EMBER YET!"

"WHAT?!"

"JUST RUN!"

We ran for our lives as fast as we could. We turned this way and that, trying to lose the Beedrill on our tail. At one point, I got tired and hesitated the slightest amount, leading to a Beedrill to slash my arm with a Poison Jab.

Greeeaaaat. More injuries.

I ignored the searing pain climbing up my arm and sped up, tripping over some stairs.

Wait, stairs?

Ow. That hurt. Lucas quickly pulled me up the stairs and just a little bit past them. The Beedrill stopped and turned back around. I released a huge sigh and collapsed onto the ground. Piplup jumped out of my arms and onto the pavement of wherever we were (Jubilife City) and pointed out my arm, getting Lucas's attention. "Pip lup, pip!"

"Oh no," Lucas muttered, kneeling down. "Not again."

I couldn't stop some tears from falling from the pain, but I tried to keep my voice steady. "I-I have a feeling t-this'll turn into a r-running t-trend."

You can see how well that worked out. Keeping my voice steady, that is.

Lucas rummaged through his backpack and pulled out a Pecha Berry as well as a small first-aid kit. "Here, we'll need to clean out the slash first."

I nodded as he squirted some Pecha juice into the cottonball (which was soaked in cleaning alcohol) and dabbed it lightly on my slash. I winced. It burned so bad! Piplup seemed to hesitate on something, holding himself back. I wondered what it was.

It stung again. And again. And again. Over and over. I waited painfully for Lucas to finish up. He pulled out some bandage tape. "The wound's too big for band-aids, so I need to wrap it up. Is that okay?"

I nodded, letting him wrap up my arm. Piplup held his other flipper oddly. It was in the same spot where Lucas was wrapping my bandage and on the same arm.

Weird...

Lucas finished that up quickly. "It'll hurt for a little bit." He hesitated. "A-are you really sure you want to keep traveling? Pokemon journeys are incredibly dangerous."

I nodded. "A lot can happen in a day and I want to see it all. Painful or not."

Lucas sighed. "You're stubborn, y'know that?"

I glanced up at him, confused. "Hm?"

"Well, you take so much damage in one day, yet you get back up again as though nothing happened. Granted, the first time we had a means of healing you completely. But now you're actually seriously injured and possibly still poisoned." Lucas rubbed the back of his neck, kinda looking embarrassed over something. "A-and you still get up and say you wanna keep going. It's like nothing can take you down. I guess that is stubborn, but maybe it's also something else. Strength, willpower, spirit, maybe even courage? I wouldn't know. I've been stuck in a little town on a beach with nothing to do except study."

I shrugged, before realizing that was painful and wincing. "W-well, I've lived in a place where frostbite is normal. My mom was worried we'd get hurt--all of us, as in, I have two siblings. Kaede (or Kai for short) Reviar and Alexandra Reviar (also Alex for short). Mom was worried we'd get hurt and--"

"Hold up," Lucas said, moving his hands in front of him, both in stop-like positions and staring at me like he wanted to clarify something shocking. "Kaede Reviar, the most powerful Trainer in Sinnoh and the third-most powerful Trainer in the WHOLE WORLD," he began, pausing for dramatic effect. "Is your older sibling?!"

I blushed and nodded shyly. "How'd you know they were older?"

"Well, you started your adventure after them, didn't you?"

I nodded.

"But WOW! Kai Reviar is your older sibling! AND I NEVER KNEW!" Lucas took a moment to freak out before quickly regaining his composure and leaning against a nearby street light to look cool. "Sorry, continue."

I giggled. "Anyway, Kai, Alex and I liked to get into dangerous situations, since we've dreamed of being powerful Pokemon Trainers one day. I'm actually pretty sensitive to pain compared to other people, so it took a lot of time, effort, and patience for me to be able to endure pain quietly, if not silently. Alex is still..." I paused, growling. "...dramatic about it. Kai's the one who keeps Alex and I from ripping each other apart. Unfortunately, since they left on their journey, Alex and I've clashed more and more. But thankfully, I'm alone now. At least, alone in my family, away from her."

Lucas nodded. "Sounds like a... colorful family, to say the least."

I nodded, standing up again. I used my good arm to support myself when I glanced at Piplup. He seemed disinterested. Fantastic.

"Okay. Now that I'm a bit more rested up, we should--"

"--Head to a Pokemon Center right away because whatever you went through as a kid wasn't poison and I'm not taking no for an answer," Lucas said quickly, dragging me by my good arm to the Pokemon Center.

"Lucas wai--"

"Nope. Sorry," he interrupted me. "You're going to the Pokemon Center to get properly healed and I don't care what I have to do to get you there."

I blushed and shut my mouth, deciding not to complain. I pulled my arm out of his and he stopped, face serious.

"C'mon," he urged.

"S-sorry," I said quickly. "You were holding my arm tight."

He blushed and averted my eyes. "O-oh. Okay then. So... you don't object?"

I shook my head and let him take my hand, gentler this time. Chimchar cooed at us and I swear my cheeks heated up even more. But then I realized Piplup wasn't with us. My eyes widened. "P-Piplup?!" I exclaimed, letting go of Lucas again.

Lucas and I whipped around, looking to see if we could find a little blue Penguin Pokemon anywhere, but to no avail.

"Oh no!" I panicked. "I lost Piplup! I can't believe this! I'm so heartless! How did I lose him?!"

Lucas panicked too, trying to calm me down. "S-shh, shh, it's okay! We'll find him! Somehow..." His voice cracked at the end of that sentence.

I ran around, trying to find him. I asked multiple people until I realized I was lost in the big city.

Well, fantastic. Now I was missing too, from Lucas, Chimchar, and my cute little Piplup. I just hoped everyone was alright.

"Hey, are you looking for a fabulous Poketch?" I heard someone ask.

I turned around. A man was carrying Poketches. "W-who, me?" I asked, looking around for other people.

"Yes you, darling!" The man chuckled. "How about it? Since you're a new Trainer and all, I'll give you a sweet deal! One Poketch, at 15,000 PokeDollars value, for only 5,000 PokeDollars! Plus, any new updated Poketch Apps are free!"

I thought about it. Mom did give me a good amount of pocket money: 50,000. But that's meant for emergencies. At least, for the most part, I assumed.

But then I remembered seeing a Poketch on Lucas's wrist! "Sir, does the Poketch have communication features?" I asked.

He nodded. "It sure does! It also has a PokeFinder App, in case you're looking to catch certain Pokemon! It uses a satellite scanner to look for any nearby Pokemon of the species you enter!"

I gasped. Perfect! "I'll take it!"

------

I clicked the PokeFinder App. I knew I could use this to find Piplup! I entered Piplup's name and the scan began. In about five seconds, I saw a little blue beacon where Piplup was.

At the edge of the city? But why? Okay, I memorized the location of the blue beacon. I changed the search to that of a Chimchar. Two beacons? Oh, great! One orange one was moving around frantically, but the other was still. Guess I knew who I was looking at.

Okay, so I could find Lucas this way. Wait... His beacon was going to the edge of the city too! He must've also found Piplup!

Great! I lowered my wrist and ran there myself, not caring about the pain in my arm from moving it so much. Finally, I found Piplup's location and gasped.

Two strange people, both wearing turquoise wigs and black, grey, and white uniforms with a strange "G" on them, were confronting Lucas and Piplup. Piplup was in a cage with Chimchar, while Lucas was being held in a choke hold by the male (there was a female holding the cage).

"Hey! Let them go!" I exclaimed.

"Oh great, another one," the male muttered angrily.

"Look, just take care of her."

Lucas bit the man's arm and kicked behind him-- OOGH... Ouch, that must've hurt. I think Lucas accidentally kicked the guy in the groin.

Well, it served him right!

The guy squirmed in pain. "Ough... y-you'll pay for that... b-brat..." he muttered.

Lucas winced and ran to my side. "Whoops. Didn't mean to do that."

"You ruined the moment," I told him. "But anyway, we have to get our Pokemon back!"

He nodded. "But how? Also, how'd you know to end up here?"

"Magic," I told him, giving him a sideways, 'Really? Now?' glance.

He deadpanned me back. 'Really?'

I rolled my eyes and glanced back at the weirdos. "Who are you? We've got no beef with you! Just give us back our Pokemon!"

The woman smirked. "We're members of Team Galactic. And now your Pokemon's power belongs to us." Then her face turned serious. "Come on! We're done here!"

"No you're not!" I exclaimed, running toward them. "I'll ask you nicely once again. Please give us back our Pokemon. I'm usually a pacifist, but that doesn't mean I won't stop you from taking what doesn't belong to you! Pokemon belong to no one! They're our friends!"

"Yeah!" Lucas chimed in, running over to my side. "And you have no right to take them from us!"

Piplup started using Pound to try to break the metal cage's bars. Chimchar tried to Scratch them, but to no avail.

"Oh? And what are your measly Pokemon going to do about it?" the woman argued, smirking again. "Even better: What are YOU going to do about it?"

Lucas and I glanced at each other. Somehow, we knew what was going on. But I don't know how, even to this day. "We'll fight," we said at once. Piplup and Chimchar seemed to understand us as well.

Somehow, all four of us were in sync.

"Ember!" Lucas exclaimed. Chimchar learned Ember and used it to burn the bars away.

"Bubble!" I commanded. Piplup actually listened to me and used Bubble to cool off the still-red bars.

The two jumped out of there, leaving the woman to toss away the cage in disgust. "I thought you said they were easy pickings, Storm!" she exclaimed.

"Well, I saw that they didn't know the moves yet! They were easy pickings, but now they're not!" Storm exclaimed. "Look, let's just attack them, Sky."

The woman, Sky... heh-- GRUNTed! OHHH I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE POKEPUNS IN THIS STORY! *ahem* Anyway...

She grunted. "Rrgh, fine! Go, Glameow!"

She sent out a silver-furred feline creature with a spiral tail. I knew a little bit about this Pokemon. It was a Normal-type Pokemon, so Fighting-type moves work better against it.

Sad we have none.

"Let's go, Bronzor!" Storm exclaimed. He sent out a shield-like Pokemon that was a dark turquoise in color. It was a Steel- and Psychic-type, I knew, so Chimchar's Ember would be super effective against it. I'll leave Bronzor to Lucas.

Seems we both knew the plan as we nodded to each other. "Piplup, jump and use Pound on Glameow!" I commanded.

Piplup jumped, its flippers both glowing white.

Sky smirked. "Trap 'im!"

Glameow snarled viciously and trapped Piplup in its spiral tail. I gasped. "Piplup!"

"Chimchar, use Ember on Glameow and free Piplup!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Glameow, shield yourself!" Sky countered.

Oh no.

Glameow jumped out of the way and launched Piplup to take its place, leaving Piplup as the target of the Ember. Lucas gasped. "I-I'm so sorry!"

Chimchar looked guilty too.

Piplup shook his head. "Don't worry about it, we're fine!" I told everyone. "Piplup, recover and use Bubble on Glameow!"

"Protect!" Storm interrupted, having Bronzor jump in and shield itself and Glameow.

Great. So they were used to fighting as a team.

Lucas whimpered slightly. "H-how're we going to match up to them!? They've probably done this for months or years!"

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Hm..." I scanned the area. Tall buildings. Piplup wasn't the best at jumping, climbing, or whatnot, but Chimchar definitely was. Chimchar could get up high. If we were to separate Glameow and Bronzor, we might have a chance. Although I didn't know if Glameow was a good climber. It if was, if IT followed Chimchar and I was left with Bronzor, that'd be a HUGE risk. Still, Bronzor was airborne and Glameow was more of a swift ground-attacker.

This whole analysis took me about five seconds, so don't worry about the battle going on without me. "Lucas! Have Chimchar climb the buildings and separate Bronzor and Glameow," I hissed to him. "If we fight separately, we might have a chance."

Lucas nodded. "On it. Chimchar! Climb the buildings!" Chimchar nodded and climbed by jumping from building to building, drawing away Bronzor like I'd hoped.

Glameow didn't seem to be very interested in Chimchar. I think she thought Piplup was a very delicious meal.

Well, now it's time to play cat and mouse. Except now it's cat and penguin. And guess who the penguin was?

"Piplup, try to run!" I told him.

Piplup hesitated, but thankfully seemed to trust me as he ran around in circles. Glameow easily caught up to him, like I'd hoped.

"Now stop!"

Piplup abruptly stopped and made Glameow trip over her own four feet, sending her piling to the ground. "Hurry, use Bubble!" Piplup used Bubble. Some variously-sized bubbles were slowly emitted from Piplup's mouth, but they were all filled with a sticky, white foam. Sea foam, I think. The sea foam spilled from the bubbles and trapped Glameow in her tracks. "Now! Pound!"

Piplup jumped up, preparing its flippers again, when I realized the tail was still not trapped. "Change to Bubble, and aim for the tail! Hurry!"

Piplup, surprised, couldn't stop its Pound attack, but instead fired the Bubble at the tail, trapping it in sticky sea foam and finishing off Glameow with two Pounds--one from each flipper.

Glameow was down.

Meanwhile (Lucas told me this happened), Chimchar reached the top of a building. Storm and Lucas had run off to the top of a building. Chimchar was hanging from several hanging flag poles while Bronzor hung normally in midair. Lucas gritted his teeth. What now?! I had told him to separate the two, but I never went over what to do from then!

"Bronzor, Confusion!" Storm commanded.

Bronzor began glowing cyan. So did Chimchar. Bronzor used telekinetic strength to lift Chimchar up and toss it to the ground. Chimchar used its strength to grab a hold of a nearby flagpole and hoist itself up. It used them like monkey bars again.

"Ember!" Lucas commanded. Chimchar attacked Bronzor with little red flames, but Bronzor easily dodged out of the way of them, leaving Lucas in the line of... FIRE! causing him to hop around and just barely miss being singed.

Whoops.

"Uh... N-not good!" Lucas exclaimed. He wondered what I would do (JUMP ONTO BRONZOR! BRING IT BACK TO THE GROUND! LIFTING IT WAS A BAD IDEA! WHY DID I EVEN SUGGEST THIS!)

So that's what he did. Besides, from the looks of it, I was done anyway. Now that Piplup and I were done, maybe we could work together and defeat Bronzor.

Why did he think a Piplup would be any help against a Bronzor?

Oh well.

Lucas gulped. "Alright. Time to get down to Earth!" he exclaimed, sprinting back down the building floors.

Oh my gosh. We're just piling on the puns today!

Storm growled and had Bronzor use Confusion to bring him back down the building the quicker way. He met Lucas at the entrance.

From here on out, it's my point of view. Just bear with us, please. 1

Lucas opened the door (with startled citizens watching in shock) and was surprised by Storm's ambush.

"Piplup, use Pound!" I exclaimed. Piplup nodded and attacked Bronzor with a strong Pound attack. That distracted them.

Storm turned to me and growled. Now it was my turn to gulp. "Bronzor, use Tackle!"

"Dodge!" I exclaimed before I had a chance to think. Piplup moved fast, jumping at the last minute and jumping off of one of Bronzor's little sphere vertex things. "Now use Peck!"

How did I know he even HAD Peck?

Piplup wasn't surprised somehow. He focused, allowing his beak to glow, then dove down to Bronzor.

"Iron Defense!" Storm commanded.

Bronzor shone incredibly. As soon as Piplup's beak connected, my ears hurt. The scraping sound of beak vs. metal was terrible!

"Chimchar, use Ember!"

Realizing Piplup had trapped Bronzor on the ground, I suddenly knew we were going to win!

Wow! Our second battle and it's also a victory!

At the last minute, Piplup jumped out of the way as several little flames collected to make one big fire that engulfed Bronzor. When the flames died out, Bronzor was also taken out.

Sky and Storm returned their Pokemon in frustration. "Beaten," Sky cried indignantly. "By mere children! Beginner Trainers who couldn't even fight back at first!"

Storm growled. "C'mon, Sky. Let's get outta here." He turned to face the two of us. "This isn't the last you'll see of us, y'know!"

Lucas and I were too stunned to say a thing. We had just won against two adults who seemed to actually know what they were doing. We won. Us. Two fourteen-year-old kids just starting out their adventures.

Well, when I woke up this morning and took my flight, I didn't think I'd be attacked by Starly, healed, attacked by Beedrill, gotten lost (and poisoned), made three friends, AND beaten some uniform-wearing weirdos.

Being a Trainer rules!

I felt excitement welling up in my chest. I took a deep breath and cheered. "YEAH-HEA--OW!" Oops. Wrong hand to cheer with.

"A-are you okay?!" Lucas exclaimed.

I giggled sheepishly. "I was about to cheer about winning our first Multi Battle, but you know. Injuries don't like me." Speaking of things that don't like me...

Piplup climbed over my body and settled himself on my shoulder.

I glanced at him strangely. Piplup nuzzled me a little bit. Did he like me now?

How?!

What happened?!

Le what?!

Lucas chuckled. "Looks like someone likes you now!"

I chuckled as well, nuzzling him back gently. I was so glad Piplup finally liked me.

"Pip! Pip!" he exclaimed.

I giggled. "'Pip Pip' to you too, Pip."

And that was how Pip got his nickname.

Pip. Real creative (not). But you have to admit, despite its simplicity, it does kinda mean something. I wouldn't change that name for the world. It's a memory of when Pip and I finally began to grow our now-unbreakable bond.

Lucas smirked. "Pip, eh? Cute nickname. Now I've got one for you."

I gasped. "I love nicknames! What's mine!"

"It's 'PokeCenter Sylvia,' now let's get moving to that PokeCenter!"

"Aw man. You fooled me!"

So this took me forever to write. I'm not used to writing fan fictions here. Sorry. Also, I'm trying to be creative with the story, but sometimes it's difficult to spread my thinking around when I'm writing this in the middle of a vacation. We've gone to many places and I don't have much time to come here, so if things seem rushed or not-well-thought-out, you can see why. I really apologize and I hope you look beyond my 'Nintendo Logic' enough to enjoy the story. See y'all laters!

Baiii!
