“What in the Hexidecimal?” Nate whispered in surprise, staring at the board. Staring back at him was a picture of himself, but in full color. There were pictures of us scattered all over the board. On the top left, there was a picture of Nate with less color than most of the others, seeming like colorless Nate, with a green X marked over it. Next to that there was a picture of colorless Kara, and further down was one of colorless Mikey. Finally, though, came the picture that shocked me the most. It was me, but my hair was a darker shade of gray, to the point of being almost black. My eyes were a more sullen blue, and filled with anger. I looked all around rougher, like I’d been in a lot of fights.

“What is this?” I asked, expecting Nate to have the answers.

“I-uh I don’t know…” He replied hesitantly. He walked over to the board and plucked a picture off of it. It was a picture of him, but in full color. The version of him that I’d grown up with. “Is this who you thought I was when you first met me?” He asked pointing to it.

“Yeah,” I said quietly before walking over to the board myself. As I examined it, I saw a few pictures that didn’t seem to fit in with the rest. One was a picture of colorless Nate, but with glowing green eyes. I disregarded that one as just more weirdness. The second was a picture of Nate’s necklace. The picture had a lot of circles around it. It also had writing on it that said: “Infinite power source. Data storage. Dimension Travel.” That last one caught me off guard. Dimension travel? That was impossible, right? But so were banning creativity and half of these photos. The last one that caught my eye was a picture of a vial of green fluid that was pretty ominous looking. There were lines pointing from the liquid to photos of all four of us.

“Well,” Nate said, breaking my train of thought. “At least we know you weren’t delusional when you said the four of us were friends.” He said, pointing at a photo of our ragtag group in full color, planning something in the treehouse behind the Nate’s house I remember.

“That’s good,” I said with a faint smile. “Also, for future reference, can I call you Colorless Nate? It’ll keep things from getting confusing…” I ask hesitantly.

“Only if I can call you Rainbow boy.” He said with a laugh and I just gave him a look. “Come on, that was funny!” He complained. Just then, there was a faint knock on the door.

“Nate, Noah, it’s us, open up” A voice on the other side of the door said. It was Kara. We let them in and hurriedly closed the door behind them. “Well, did you do it? Did you find what we need?” She asked.

“Possibly, take a look at that.” Nate said motioning toward the board.

“Woah, is that us?” Mikey asked.

“Yes and no.” Nate replied. “The ones that look more gray scaled are the three of us,” he said pointing to Colorless Kara, Colorless Mikey, and himself. “However, the ones in full color are from somewhere else, perhaps another dimension. That’s where Noah’s from.” He said.

“Wait,” Kara said, realizing what that statement meant. “Does that mean that Noah’s not from here?” She asked.

“Well,” I said. “There was a Noah Connors here, but that’s not me.” I said, trying to explain it as simply as possible. “I’m from a world with color, and there was a Nate, Kara, and Mikey there too that I’ve been friends with for years, which is how I knew to reach out to you guys.” I continued. “For now, to avoid confusion, I think we’re going to start referring to you guys as the colorless and mine as technicolor.”

“That’s- You- What?!” Mikey asked. “You know what? You can tell me later. For now, let’s get out of here and decide what we’re going to do.”

“Wait just a second, I need to get a look at something,” Nate said, looking down at a set of blueprints on the desk. “This shows a plot for…” His face contorted in surprise. “They’re trying to control everyone on the island!” He said. Suddenly the back door to the office slammed open.

“That’s quite right, Mr. Moral.” A deep voice stated. “But I’m afraid we can’t let you interfere.” The four of us looked up in fear, and standing before us was Mr. Colstrom.

Author’s Note: This chapter gets a bit hectic, and some things will not make sense, but everything will eventually be explained.
