"Are you ready?" Korrina asked curiously.
Elijah nodded, he was definitely ready. Once again, Korrina trotted over to her side of the battlefield, Elijah the same. This time, Korrina's first Pokemon was Mienfoo, different from when Ava battled. Speaking of Ava, she stepped to the side of the field and into the stands to cheer for Elijah, just as Elijah did to her. "What's with the different choice of Pokemon?" Elijah asked confusedly. "For one: Ava did just feint the other two so they're not ready for battle quite yet. And two: I sense something else in you, but I'm not quite sure what that something is yet. Plus, variation is battling is always fun." Korrina replied. Elijah nodded and selected a Pokeball on his belt of which he threw into the air. Out came his new friend, Litleo. This was its first major battle since it's capture.
The referee took his spot on the podium yet again. "The battle between Challenger, Elijah, and Gym Leader, Korrina, will now begin!" "Mienfoo, use Fake Out now!" Korrina commanded. "Litleo, counter with Headbutt!" Elijah responded. The two attacks collided with damage being dealt to both sides. "Follow up with Ember!" Elijah continued. "Power-Up Punch!" Korrina commanded. The Power-Up Punch nullified the Ember and still boosted Mienfoo's attack stat. "Double-Slap now!" Korrina shouted. "Litleo, jump on Mienfoo's head!" Elijah shouted. The Double-Slap missed and now Litleo had climbed on to the head of Mienfoo.
"Now use Take Down!" Elijah commanded. Everyone who was currently spectating anticipated the outcome of that move. Litleo hopped slightly off Mienfoo's head and used Take Down midair slamming it into the ground. Litleo backflipped off Mienfoo and used Ember again making a direct hit. The smoke from the impact cleared revealing Mienfoo had feinted. Korrina smiled and returned her Pokemon to its Pokeball. "I knew there was something special about you when you stepped into the Gym. I never thought I would have to use my full strength against you though. Lucario, let's go!" Korrina announced.
Elijah smiled, the battle was just beginning. "Litleo use Ember!" Elijah shouted. "Lucario, knock it away with Aura Sphere!" The Ember was completely dismembered with Lucario's attack and the Aura Sphere hit Litleo square in the face. It was unable to battle. Elijah returned his friend to its Pokeball and said, "Thanks for the hard battling, buddy. You deserve this rest." He looked over at Scyther who didn't like to chill in its Pokeball and instead stayed out and walked where ever Elijah went. "Let's do this Scyther!" Elijah exclaimed. Scyther nodded and flew on to the battlefield.
"Lucario, Bone Rush!" Korrina yelled. "Scyther, counter with Metal Claw!" The force given off from the collision of these attacks was stronger than any before. The entire stadium shook. "Quick Attack now!" Elijah said trying to get a hit in before Lucario could recover. True to his plan, Lucario was blown away from the insanely fast attack from Scyther. "It seems I can't beat you with Lucario and I's basic strength. We'll have to ramp up to full power!" Korrina announced. Elijah looked confused, "What do you mean full power?" He asked curiously. Korrina smirked and rolled up her sleeve revealing a Mega Stone.
Upon touch the crystal began glowing and she said, "With mine and Lucario's hearts connected and our fighting spirits burning brightly, MEGA EVOLVE!" Lucario was transformed into his Mega form and Elijah now couldn't contain his excitement. "It's always fun getting to beat a Mega Evolved Pokemon!" He said with a large smile on his face. Korrina looked at him confused. No one had ever beaten her Lucario during its Mega Evolution. "Scyther, use Quick Attack!" Elijah yelled. "Lucario, counter with Extreme Speed!" Korrina responded. Damage was dealt on both sides and Scyther flew into the air to avoid taking another hit.
"Night Slash!" Elijah commanded. Lucario wasn't able to react before it was bombarded by the attack. Before Lucario could recover, Scyther already fired back with an X-Scissor dealing even more damage. "Lucario, wrap this up with Bone Rush!" Korrina said knowing this was her last chance. "Scyther use Quick Attack and X-Scissor, Quick Scissor!" Elijah said calling out his infamous move. The collision of attacks filled the arena smoke. No one could see the outcome of the attacks.
Just then, Lucario hopped out from the smoke surviving the powerful attack. Korrina celebrated in her head. All of a sudden, pertruding from the smoke, was the infamous green shine of Swarm, Scyther's ability. Elijah smirked and called out the move X-Scissor. Lucario fought back with a very powerful Aura Sphere to stop the X-Scissor. The impact of the two attacks once again brought a cloud of smoke to the battlefield. This time however, Scyther was able to pull of a very powerful X-Scissor leaving Lucario on its knees.
Elijah fixed his cap and told Korrina, "Battling new types of Pokemon has always been one of my favorite things to do. I just recently learned of Mega Evolution and have since fallen in love with it. Added on to my list of never-ending goals is wanting to defeat every known Mega Evolution. Thanks to you, this is now possible. Scyther, use Metal Claw!" Lucario had feinted.
Korrina smiled and returned Lucario to its Pokeball. "You have truly proven yourself worthy of my Gym Badge. No one has ever beaten my Mega Lucario until now. A very fine job indeed, young trainer. With this victory I now reward you with the Rumble Badge. Proof of your winnings at my Gym." Elijah took the badge with pride and held it into the air as Ava had done before. Ava walked over to him and congratulated him as he had done to her. Korrina smiled at the two trainers and said, "If you're looking for your next Gym Battle, Courmaline City is your next best bet." "Thank you!" Our heroes said in sync as the left the Gym already looking forward to their next Gym Battle.
A mysterious trainer stepped forward from the stands who watched the two battles take place. Our heroes hadn't paid any attention to them as they had been distracted by their battles. He watched as they headed down the street and out of view. "Let's go Chesnaught. I've taken a strong liking to these two trainers. Especially the one with the Scyther." The boy said.
