A (possible) prologue

by ~Rinko~

~Rinko~ A modern world, knowing full well of the existence of magic. Yes, people, particularly girls, who find out what they love to do above all else before a certain point will unlock magic. These people have protected everyone from evil creatures who cause havoc for as long as history recalls. This story (if it continues) follows two high-school girls who admire the magical girls they see, wondering if they could also gain the ability use magic...
Crowds of people walked up and down the cherry-tree lined pavements and cars sped down the road.

In among the crowds of people walking, two young girls, one with neck-length pink hair and one with waist-length creamy-blonde hair, were chatting.

“Ah, I can’t wait...!” the pink-haired girl cheered, squeezing her eyes shut and leaning forward, “It’s soon! The time where we’ll officially be high school students!” she straightened herself up and jumped, though she didn’t reach particularly high.

“Yeah, it is pretty exciting,” the cream-haired one said, resting her head against her hands. “...We’re almost 16 now, huh?”

“Yeah...”

“Well, it doesn’t really matter, does it, Emi?”

“Huh? W-what do you mean ‘it doesn’t matter,’ Miyako-chan?”

“Look around, I don’t think a single person here has magic, but they don’t seem care. Most girls our age probably only care because, well, we’re teenagers. What teenager doesn’t wanna have magic?”

Emi sighed, looking at the ground with her ash-grey eyes, “I guess you’re right...”

“No one here has magic...? Fufu, what in this world are you talking about?” a girl with mid-back length purple hair said, placing a hand on each of the other girls’ shoulders. “I have magic! A powerful sort, too, the most holy light of all worlds, yes, more holy a light than even the candles in heaven! That is the magic I wield!” she yelled.

Miyako and Emi stared at the other girl blankly.

“...Your uniform. You go to Usei High School?” Miyako asked, ignoring the girl’s Chuunibyou-like behaviour.

“Indeed, that is where I have been learning since journeying unto this world!” she boasted, flicking her hair.

Again, she received blank stares.

Miyako sighed, “...And how long ago was that?”

“That would be the last time those great and tall figures of long life were as vibrant as the glisteningly ephemeral sunsets of the world of crystals.”

Yet again, blank stares.

“...I’m sorry, I couldn’t understand that.” Miyako shook her head.

“Ah! I should introduce myself, surely. I am the youngest heir of the throne of a far-off land tucked away in another world to this one you know. My name... is Kurona Komichi!” she finished her introduction by flinging her upper body backwards and her arms wide out, annoying quite a few passers-by.
