Quetzal: A Party, A Girl and a Snake!

by Hecotoro

Hecotoro Let's go into the ancient pyramid! What could possibly go wrong?
"Hey guys meet Brenda and her friend." Cookie said with a big smile as he approached the group with the two girls following him.

Ulisses completely ignored the girl named Brenda, his attention was on the other girl, who had smiled at him earlier while they were standing in line. She seemed to have noticed him also as she smiled and gave him a small wave. Was it destiny? Out of the enormous amount of people gathered at the concert, Cookie happened to run into the one girl who could bring Ulisses and the pretty glasses girl together. However, before he could say or do anything, Lalo and Kary presented themselves to both girls, which made them both focus on the people talking. Soon, it was time for Ulisses to present himself, which he had not thought about since he was too happy and thinking about what he would say if he got the chance.

"This is Pikamon." Cookie said, with a laugh afterwards. "He plays Pokemon so we call him that."

Ulisses' heart sank as he heard Cookie present him. One of the first things you don't lead with when trying to meet a girl is, your hobby of playing a game meant for children. But it was to be expected from Cookie, who always tried to make the others look more lame in front of girls he liked, to make himself as a better catch. Ulisses was not about to let him get away with it however, he really liked the girl and he wasn't about to have him mess up his first impresison.

"I do actually, I like to play Pokemon and he likes Smash Bros. which makes us good buds." Ulisses smiled proudly at Cookie, who was giving back an upset look.

The girl named Brenda seemed confused but the other girl laughed waved her hand across her chest. "I'm Elizabeth, nice to meet you all." She set her eyes on Ulisses. "I'm also a Pokemon fan by the way."

Ulisses was speechless at that moment. There were three things he had learned about the girl he liked. Her name, she liked Pokemon and she had a British accent. The last one was the one thing he didn't expect, but he felt dumb for being surprised since Brenda seemed to have a similar accent. However, it seemed she was interested in him also, Elizabeth that is. He was too busy thinking about what to say that he didn't hear the others talk, who were apparently laughing at something.

The concert went on, the group now composed of five enjoyed every moment of it. Ulisses specially since he talked to Elizabeth every chance he had and she seemed to enjoy his company as she stayed by his side the entire time, even when Brenda and Cookie when to make out with the excuse they wanted to buy more beer. Kary and Lalo were pretty upset though when they came back without the alcoholic beverages. The entire day seemed to go by quickly, the group not noticing time was going by so fast. Until finally, the concert ended with an energetic crowd and satisfied fans.

Just like it had been suggested earlier, the group headed to an after party nearby one of the ancient pyramids. Thanks to the 'connections' Cookie had, it was a small exclusive gathering of people from the concert. The group had to go through a small forest like area, filled with a lot of local trees and bushes. After walking for what seemed like an hour and Cookie swore he knew the way, they reached a clearing. In the middle was an old Aztec like pyramid, that had lost the top half and was filled with vines and moss. Around it however, a group of people had gathered, with speakers set up, coolers with beverages and some tables with food. Some had gathered some stones and logs to sit on while others were sitting on the ground or standing up. The atmosphere seemed great as the sun was beginning to set. The only thing that made everything better was that Ulisses felt Elizabeth's hand grabbed his, as she pulled him towards her and had him follow her to join the others.

"I dare you to go inside." Elizabeth said with a teasing smile as she took a red cup into her hand that Ulisses had brought over to her.

"Inside the pyramid? I don't know, what if the aliens that made it come after me?" He replied with a soft laugh as he looked at the crumbled down building.

"Oh you're not afraid of some silly aliens are you?" Elizabeth playfully bumped into his shoulder. "I can go with you if you want, it will be my adventure in Mexico."

Ulisses nodded his head slowly and frowned. "I thought I was your adventure in Mexico."

She burst into a loud laughter as she wrapped her arm around Ulisses and began walking towards the pyramid. "I never said that! Come on, if we find treasure we can split it."

Ulisses didn't fight it and went along with Elizabeth. As they got closer the music and the noise from the party began to fade away, as if they had walked too far away from the event. The walked up a small flight of stone steps and reached an entrance. It had some vines hanging down from it and the inside was pitch black. Ulisses took out his phone, and used the quick command future, shaking it to the sides, causing the flashlight to turn on. As he walked inside, he felt Elizabeth's grip tighten around his arm, which gave him a confidence boost.

Elizabeth pressed herself against Ulisses as she looked around the dark room. "This is pretty scary." She sighed slowly. "Do you think people were sacrificed here?"

He kept his sight in front of them, making sure there was no false step, bugs or traps. "Maybe? The paintings I've seen always show the sacrifice being done at the top though." He stopped at what he thought was the middle of the room and illuminated the walls around them.

The walls had some ancient drawings on them with some old texts that were incomplete and not understandable. While Ulisses was busy trying to figure out what the paintings meant, he felt Elizabeth tug at his arm. He turned around and saw her looking at a certain direction with an astonished look. He followed her gaze towards the darkness and saw two shiny white stones floating far off in the distance. It was odd, since Ulisses could swear the building wasn't that deep. He was about to shine light on the gems, when the light went out. He shook his phone, trying to activate it again, nothing. He tried a couple more times and the flashlight wouldn't activate. He tried to unlock his phone and realized it was turned off. However, he had at least 50% left when they had entered the building.

"What are you doing, turn the light back on, this is not romantic at all!" Elizabeth's voice was rushed and with a hint of panic on it.

"I'm trying, my phone died."

"What? Let me try mine... It's not turning on, I had plenty of battery when we walked in."

"Me too! Let's just go back to the entrance."

"But did you see the two shiny stones? Look! They're still there!"

"Yeah I see them, but... I don't see the exit."

"What?! I swear if this is a joke..."

"No! I promise, I don't see it, do you?"

"Ugh! No! I'm getting scared. Wait, the stones, they blinked! We need to leave!" Elizabeth's voice began to crack.

Ulisses felt as she pulled him close to her and began walking, but no matter where they walked to, it felt they were still in the same spot. The entrance was nowhere near them and they never seemed to be able to reach a wall. Soon, they stopped trying, Elizabeth's breathing could be heard throughout the room and what made her flinch was the sound of something else moving besides them.

"There's something here..." Elizabeth buried her face into Ulisses' chest.

"It's okay, stay close to me." He replied as he hugged her.

"You're not afraid?"

"Yeah I am, there's obviously something else in here. But nothing good can come out of both of us being afraid, so you stay nervous and I'll stay calm."

"What an odd thing to say."

Ulisses felt as his and Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat at the sound of a stranger's voice heard in the room. He felt the girl grip him tighter as he tried to look around and figure out who had just spoken to them. However he needed more time, so he decided to keep the conversation going.

"You think so? What would you have said?" Ulisses spoke and felt Elizabeth's confused stare on him.

"Hmmm? Good question. I would have said, I fear no evil!"

The voice was deep and strong, making it sound like it was coming from someone above them and with great authority.

"Well I'm not much of a liar, I would say there's some evil I do fear." Ulisses tried his best to hide how nervous he felt, but his heart was beating so fast it was probably hitting Elizabeth's ear.

"Ah, well in that case, your statement makes more sense. Why are you here?"

"We thought it would be fun to explore this place and I was hoping to make out with her." He heard Elizabeth whispered a soft "What?"

"Make out?"

"You know, kissing?"

"I see, you are attempting to mate with her?"

Ulisses felt embarrassed as Elizabeth's grip loosened up and he could feel her gaze on him, despite the darkness.

"No... maybe? Not now really, in the future. Sorry do you know how we can get out?"

"Of course."

A sudden flash suddenly illuminated the room. Both Ulisses and Elizabeth closed their eyes and slowly opened them, trying to get adjusted to the newly lit room. To their surprise, it was completely different. The walls were made of gold and silver, with the ancient drawings shining as if they had been recently made. However, the most impressive thing was the twenty four foot snake looking down at them. It had a dragon like head, with two white gems as eyes, red lips, big pointy lips, green skin and three big red feathers sticking out on each side. The rest of it's body was covered and big colorful feathers, that seemed to change according to the light in the room. It's tail had three big white feathers. The big beast was looking down at the two humans, turning its head to the side.

"Oh bloody hell." Elizabeth said she stared with wide eyes back at the beast.

"Damn." Was all that Ulisses could say.

"That is very rude."
