I know I'm not the one who you're asking to answer your question, but...I can't help myself. I'd say green is a good color, but that color could be considered a cliche as well.The color really depends on what the character represents, either it be their personality or powers (if they have any).

When it comes to character design I don't think I'm your gal haha. In the majority of cartoons they typically have red, lime green, purple, or even black eyes but there's also a good number of villian that's just all over the spectrum.
