As the kids got off the train, they were led to a bunch of boats by a large giant of a man. That's Hagrid! Duh. Hagrid escorted the first year students to the boats and eventually to the castle itself. Kaiser thought about dinner the entire boat ride, Autumn was bewildered and intrigued by anything even remotely magical, and Procyon was asking Hagrid a thousand and one questions about nifflers.
Cyrus was another young student who was a first year student. The boy looked focused and ready to get off the boat as soon as possible. Cynthia was another first year, she was busy having a discussion with two other students that had broken out into argument, and helped them end it peacefully.
Another wizard named Astrid sat at the far back of one of the boats, the girl looked dreadfully bored as the boats made their way to the castle. Luca was another student who laid back in the boat casually relaxing as they went to their next destination.
Then there was another first year student named Lux, who was impressing some of the students as he cast a small firework spell. and there was one more first year student, a jumpy girl named Thea. She was startled when the firework went off.
As the students got off the boat, they were lead inside the school where they would be taken inside. Many students sat at tables. From left to right the tables went; Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff.
One by one the students were sent to the front to be sorted into houses. Alphabetically by their last names of course.
"Luca Adams!... Hufflepuff!" The sorting hat took 45 seconds to decide what house to put the boy in.
"Cynthia Doyle!... Ravenclaw!" The sorting hat took 38 seconds to decide what house to put the girl in.
"Astrid Fernsby!... Slytherin!" The sorting hat took 22 seconds to decide what house to put the girl in.
"Thea Hale!... Hufflepuff!" The sorting hat took a minute and 12 seconds to decide what house to put the girl in.
"Cyrus Selwyn!... Gryffindor!" The sorting hat took another entire minute. This time taking a minute and 5 seconds to decide what house to put the boy in.
"Procyon Sheerfor!... Ravenclaw!" The sorting hat took 7 seconds to decide what house to put the boy.
"Lux Solaris!... Slytherin!" The hat barely touched the boy's head before it knew what house to put the boy in.
"Kaiser Sozay!... Hufflepuff!" The hat took 43 seconds to decide what house to put the boy.
"Autumn Winters... Gryffindor!" The hat took 3 seconds to decide what house to put the girl in.
By this point only 12 students hadn't been sorted yet. Eventually all the students were sorted. Each time a student was sorted the other students would cheer and applaud, showing the new students their full support. The new students would take a seat.
At the slytherin table Astrid was talking with Solaris were having an interesting conversation about the types of spells they were hoping to learn.
At the Ravenclaw table, Cynthia was mostly keeping to herself, and Procyon was talking with just about anyone who would listen to him talk about sponge charms.
At the Gryffindor table, Cyrus and Autumn had been comparing their different lives. One being a pureblood wizard growing up in the wizarding world, and the other being a muggleborn growing up in the muggle world.
Then lastly at the Hufflepuff table, Luca and Kaiser, both lazily sat at the table sharing tips and pointers on how to avoid responsibility. For now Thea continued to keep to herself.
Regardless what table you sat at, everyone enjoyed their meal. Some more than others, but eventually the students would be led by their respective Prefect to their dorms. Each told their secret password to get in. Slytherins dorm being in the dungeon, Ravenclaw being in the ravenclaw tower, Gryffindor being in the Gryffindor tower, and the Hufflepuff dorm being in the basement next to the kitchen.
