Open Pokemon: Adventure in Unova!

"Ah, thanks" He says excitedly. "C'mon, Espurr!" He follows the Skiddo towards the woods. Espurr climbs onto Skiddo's back, happily swaying back and forth. As they walk, Roy notices a wild Pokemon. "A Pokemon!" Roy cries. The wild Pokemon reveals itself to be a Mawile. "Fantastic! This is wonderful!" He says. "Eevee, come on out!" The cheerful Pokemon comes out, prepped for battle. Eevee looks at the Mawile, getting ready to attack. "Let's start off with Sand Attack, Eevee!" He yells. Eevee kicks some sand at Mawile, it tries to rub the sand of its face. "Eevee, use Shadow Ball!" He says. Eevee creates a ball of purple energy and fires it at Mawile. The wild Mawile retaliates with Iron Head. The powerful attack sends Eevee back quite a bit.

Eevee nearly goes down, but manages to hold on. "Keep it up, Eevee and use Shadow Ball again!" He yells. Eevee's Shadow Ball causes Mawile to fall back. "Alright, go Poke Ball!" Roy says. The Poke Ball shakes, and Mawile is captured. "Haha! Great job, Eevee!" He says as he rushes to hug Eevee for her good work. "Alright, Mawile come on out!" Roy says. "Welcome to the team, Mawile." Mawile smiles and hugs my leg.

Another trainer appeared, muttering something about pokeballs that Moanna didn't quite catch. "Oh, um, hello." Moanna smiled shyly, trying to come off as friendly. "Are you a friend of Roy's?" She looked in Roy's direction and saw that he had come upon a mawile and used his eevee to catch it. Moanna was impressed, she might make friends with pokemon easily but catching them was more difficult for her.

"I saw from a distance that you have a few tough mons, so, do you have any badges," Orlando followed with a retort, "after all, you look like a 20-year-old."

"Eh?" Moanna asked, not quite hearing the question, as she was busy looking at Roy's eevee and mawile. They looked very tired after their battle together, and Moanna couldn't help but worry. "Oh, you noticed my pokeballs?" she said to Orlando, looking down at the four balls hanging from her belt. "Yes, I have badges, but I only have two..." Moanna trailed off, slightly red in the face as she asked, "Um, Roy? Would you like me to heal your pokemon? They seem pretty tired. I can heal yours too, Orlando, if they're tired from training."

"Yes, please." He responds to Moanna. Mawile and Eevee walk up to her, eager for the medicine. "They seem to trust you really well." He adds.

Orlando ran off to the gym, knowing the others would follow. He snickered at the thought of Moana planting a kiss on Roy after he won against the new gym leader.

Lysand had finished training on the nearby route and met up with his friends again in Aspertia city. Both of his pokemon had gotten a bit stronger, and they had both held their own against the gym leader. It was a close call, but Aipom managed to step in last minute and beat Cheren's lillipup. After the battle, Lysand noticed the woman with his two friends.

"Hi there!" Lysand greeted her, extending his hand for her to shake, "My name's Lysand, what's yours?"

Orlando saw his friend's badge, but decided to say nothing. He was about to win his own badge, and he didn't want to look weak in front of the "newlyweds."

Roy smiles at the sight of Lysand's new badge. I should get ready for my own Gym Battle.. Espurr, Eevee, Mawile... We shall win, we must!

Moanna pet Eevee and Mawile. "They seem to trust you really well," Roy said.

"Thank you," Moanna said, grabbing a pokeball from her belt. She turned to the two small pokemon while another boy, Lysand came up to the group with a broad smile on his face and a shiny new badge. He asked her name, and she told him, "It's Moanna, nice to meet you! Congrats on the badge." To eevee and mawile, she said, "My pokemon, his name is Sweeney, he's going to help you, okay? Don't be scared of him."

Standing, she released Sweeney from his pokeball in a flourish of light. The gardevoir stretched, floating slightly above the ground with his psychic powers, glad to be outside. Moanna asked, "Sweeney, could you use heal pulse to help our friends?" The gardevoir looked at her, then the two smaller pokemon near her, and nodded. Raising his hands, a soft pink glow emanated from them, enveloping eevee and mawile, wiping their cuts and bruises away as easy as a washcloth wiped away dirt.

"Lysand, would you like Sweeney to heal your pokemon as well?" Moanna asked.

Lysand addressed Moanna, "That would be great, thanks!" While his pokemon were healed, he took out his badge case to look at his new badge. Shiny, new, and a promise of a new adventure and fun journey.

Happy she could help, Moanna smiled. Her eyes caught glimpse of Lysand's new badge, and Moanna flushed with embarassment. She felt like now she had been bragging about her two badges earlier, and hoped these boys didn't take offense. She was excited for them all, wondering at how strong all of them could become with time. Orlando had already run off to the gym, and she worried about his apparently rash nature. Sweeneh put his hand on her shoulder reassuringly, his psychic powers had picked up her uncertianty. "I'm okay, thank you," she whispered to him. Lysand's pokemon, all healed, looked up at her. She pet them, happy they seemed to like her.

Lysand watched as Moanna pet his pokemon. "So, you said you had two badges already?" He asked her, "Do you have any tips about battling? We beat Cheren, but it was a bit of a close match." Lysand had not met anybody with gym badges before. Even before moving to Unova, trainers came through to challenge Brawly, but not many people actually stopped to talk to the people of the town. The town was a bit closed off, keeping to themselves. So, Lysand was going to take this opportunity to peek inside of Moanna's head for a bit of knowledge.

"Advice?" Moanna was a bit taken aback by the question. Growing up, it was the older trainers wandering through the inn near Blackthorne where she grew up that gave advice. No one had asked her before; it was very flattering and brought color to her cheeks. "Well, I guess try to use your pokemon's strengths," she said slowly, thinking on her past experiences and of what she had heard from other trainers, "Everyone has their own unique abilities. And if you can, always try to use a type advantage. Take care of your pokemon well, and they'll always do their best for you."

Lysand nodded, turning back his focus to his pokemon. "Okay guys, if I can recall correctly, the next gym is Roxie's. She's a poison-type gym leader, so we need to think about our strategy. If we work hard, we should be able to take on anybody!" He ended his small pep talk, and pet both of his pokemon.

"Now we just need to wait for Roy to finish up his battle with the gym leader."

"You'll all do well." Moanna smiled, excited to be accompanying these trainers. Sweeney, sensing her excitement, offered his hand to her to dance. She took it, laughing as she let her gardevoir guide her around the ranch's field in a waltz. "And I think Sweeney is saying he'll be happy to help where he can, too!"

"I'll have to take you up on your offer sometime," Lysand said honestly. He felt a sense of peace and happiness around Moanna. The woman reminded him a bit of his sister, and some of the other girls from Dewford. They all used to hang out, swimming and having fun underneath the sun.

"Are your two badges from this region, or another one?" Lysand asked, "If not, where exactly did you travel from?"

Sweeney spun Moanna around, then let her go so she could spin over to Lysand. She had a smile on her face; both he and Roy seemed easy to talk to, and she didn't feel as shy around them. "My badges? Oh, uh, my first one is from Blackthorne, where I'm from. I got my other one from Forteee, after my dad and I moved there."

"That's really cool," Lysand said, "So, you've been to both Johto and Hoenn. Did you ever go to Dewford before?" He asked. Maybe Moanna had met some of the people from his town. She didn't have Brawly's badge, so maybe she had never even been through Dewford before?

"Yeah, I grew up in Johto but hardly saw any of it. Hoenn I saw more of, though I couldn't tell you the name of everywhere I've been." Moanna thought sadly about how she had run away from home for over a year, but brightened as she thought of the adventures she and her pokemon had together exploring the wilds of the region. "Dewford, I think I remember that. That's the little beach town to the south, right? Are you from there?"

"Yeah! My family grew up there. My mom, my sister, and I actually just moved to Unova a few months ago," Lysand said, "Where did you live in Hoenn? I didn't really travel at all there, but my father is a fisherman. So, if there's water, he would have probably been there."

"That's cool! It must've been pretty nice growing up on a beach." Moanna chuckled and scratched her head, "We lived in Forteee though. I remember there was a river nearby, but it was mostly forest and grasslands." Moanna sat in the grass, Sinbad by her side. "Where did you move to in Unova?"

OOC: I need to go to bed. Talk to everyone tomorrow

"I actually moved down the street from Roy and Orlando," Lysand said, "So, Aspertia city then."

Roy walks back towards Moanna and Lysand. "Look what we got!" He says as he holds up the Basic Badge. "Eevee and Mawile were fantastic in that battle." He says.

"Congrats!" Moanna smiled, happy her friend was victorious. Sweeney, who had occupied himself with the skiddo on the other side of the fence, drifted over to Moanna's side as he saw Roy approach. The gardevoir lifted his hands, pulsing the pink healing glow, offering his help if it was needed.

"So," Moanna wondered, "just Orlando left, right? Then what gym do you guys want to go to next?"

"Well, if we go by order of gyms," Lysand said, "Then we should probably go to Roxie's gym next. She's a poison type gym, so Roy, you should be at an advantage with Mawile if I'm correct?" Lysand thought about what he was going to do. He didn't have any pokemon that were naturally strong against poison, or resisted it, so he was just going to have to play to his strengths-- and buy a lot of antidotes.

He thought for a second before turning to Moanna, "Wait, aren't you going to take on Cheren?" He asked.

"Eh?" Moanna's cheeks reddened. Yes, she had thought about taking on the gym, but she wasn't really keen on battling if she didn't have to, that was more for her pokemon to decide. The badges she already had were to help her on her journey, not prove her power. Not that she would admit it, of course. "Um, I'm okay. I'd rather help you guys and tag along. I'm sure there are wild pokemon I've never seen before here in Unova, and I'd like to meet them."

Lysand gave Moanna a small smile, "That sounds like a plan. Believe it or not, battling isn't actually my goal in all of this either. Sure, I do enjoy battling, and my pokemon seem to also, but all I want to do is travel and make a bunch of new friends and have new experiences." Lysand was happy to have someone else who's main goal wasn't to be the champion, or the best at battling. Battling was more consequential of the journey itself. Lysand was trying to just live his life, and become more independent. He thought back to his childhood, and even with all the good memories of his home he did have to admit that there weren't a lot of opportunities for him.

Now though, even if Lysand didn't become the champion, he could try to find his path in life with the help of his friends, and the ones he made along the way.

"I hope Orlando does well in his battle," Lysand said, to nobody in particular.

"Roxie's a Poison-type specialist, normally Mawile would be at a disadvantage due to its Fairy-typing, but since she's also part Steel, she'd be immune to Poison. I think we have a good shot in Virbank." Roy replies to Lysand. "Since I also have Espurr, A Psychic-type, she'll also have a huge advantage."
