A reason to be in the forest, hmmm. Maybe Nyx is sent to collect debt from someone who lives in the forest and borrowed money, that could work

Character Name: Soren
Pronouns: He/Him
Pokemon: Dreepy
Ability: Infiltrator
Moves: Sucker Punch (Egg move), Dragon Tail (Egg Move), Astonish, Infestation
Notable Characteristics: A pair of dark green goggles on a leather strap hang from his neck, and a very heavy leather mailbag full of books drapes from his shoulder. The bag is almost bigger than him.
Youth: Soren grew up in the northern tunnel outpost, to a family of miners. His mother was a Dragapult named Reina and his father was an Appletun named Cinnamon. The family was a small one, with no other children. Cinnamon worked with his brother as owners of a small mining operation and had originally hired Reina to act as a bodyguard when going deeper in the depths. Soren was rather different from his parents. He fell in love with archeology and often followed his family into the depths specifically for the purposes of digging up old artifacts.
His family was poor, as the mining operation had an issue of diminishing returns. It meant that Soren believed his dreams of being an archeologist were impossible. That did not stop him from spending his youth attempting to decipher old texts or collecting bits and pieces of the ancient civilization.
Training/Adulthood: Soren’s dreams were eventually possible, at a price. His mother had been part of the guild, though her work was mostly focused on protection. She was a strong pokemon, though, and had earned enough of a name for herself. That meant that when a particularly dangerous dungeon appeared, Reina had been called to help get rid of it. She was killed in the fight to close the Dungeon and Soren’s family was given a very significant sum of money, both as a reward and as part of honoring Reina’s death.
Cinnamon tried to stop Soren from going to Silver University. They both knew that an archeologist would have to go into dungeons. Soren was too determined, though, and used his share of the coin to go to school. He fell in love with his work and took up a short apprenticeship where he learned basic self defense and, more importantly, the tools of his trade. He has begun work on deciphering a particularly lengthy text that has stumped the archeological community for years.
Reason for wanting to be in a rescue team: An archeologist can only get new, useful, and fascinating relics by being on a rescue team. Additionally, he is among those that believe the ancients have a way to stop the mystery dungeons. He seeks that knowledge.

No worries! You stated in the opening post that the expected posting time from you would be roughly 1-3 times a week, no sweat. Also, IRL stuff comes always first and I hope things will get in order/settle down/get better!
