Back to the Primitive Ways

It seemed like the world had gone mad.

The resources that had been used to produce Pokeballs had been depleted, and with the number of trainers travelling the world on their journeys and catching Pokemon, this was an extreme problem.

Pokeballs had run out quickly, and trainers had started to get angry. Some just tried to catch less, maybe released Pokemon that they never used, recycling the Pokeball they were once in to catch new Pokemon. But, the trainers who were bent on catching them all and being the best couldn't take it. They started stealing Pokeballs from other trainers and releasing the Pokemon inside, so they could use the Pokeball for themselves. Riots had started too. Pokemon centers, Pokemarts, even sometimes at gyms, people had started mobbing, demanding that they fix this.

And, it wasn't just the human aspect of things. Pokemon too. They'd become used to many of their kind being caught, so they repopulated fast. And with most of the trainers slowing down with their catching, or even stopping completely, the Pokemon population had skyrocketed. Many of them became unfriendly and aggressive towards humans as they started seeing them less and less.

Now, people are forced to tame their Pokemon, the hard way, and just have them trust them enough to follow them around. Or, they steal Pokeballs from other people.

You are a young and aspiring trainer, forced into using methods back from the days of old. How will you cope with this unfamiliar situation?

(You may be a trainer who had already caught a couple of Pokemon in Pokeballs, but not too many please. Maybe, like, 3 tops. And by now you'd be at the point where you don't have any. Or perhaps a couple, if your character is one of the people that steals Pokeballs from others. Also, this is set in a region where all the pokemon from every region is available. Feel free to suggest names if you want, since I have no idea. So, for now, it's just gonna be unnamed.)

In Character:

Wright sighed with relief as he entered the next town. That had been a close one. The last route he was in had been full of flowers, and as he and his Pokemon were walking through, they must have angered a wild Florges. He'd almost gotten singed by a Moonblast from the thing. Luckily though, his Fearow, Breeze, had swooped down and picked him and his Luxio, Luther, up, flying them a little ways away so that they weren't in danger anymore.

These angry wild Pokemon were becoming a real problem. It seemed more and more often that he'd get attacked by them. And, with his lack of Pokemon now, after another trainer had stolen the few others he'd managed to catch, he was finding it hard to fight them off.

Wright had only been left with Breeze, after he'd been robbed of his Pokeballs. (After all, the other trainers weren't heartless. They wouldn't take all of the Pokemon he had.) He'd contacted his dad immediately, actually ended up crying over the phone to him. His dad had just sighed and told him to come home. When he did, his father had given him one of his own Pokemon from when he was on his journey. It wasn't fully evolved yet, and was a bit weak, but his dad had said it was so it could warm up to him. Rather than having a Pokemon that had a really strong bond with his father that would never listen to an inexperienced trainer like him.

Personally, Wright was a little bit skeptical about that, since Luther had done nothing but give him the cold shoulder the whole time he'd been around. But, he trusted his father. After all, the amount of other people you could trust in the world was slowly dwindling, so you should try to trust whoever you know that you can.

The young trainer looked back to the Luxio, begrudgingly following him from a little ways behind. He then turned his gaze skyward to see Breeze flying overhead. He always kept them out of their Pokeballs. That way, people wouldn't be suspicious that he had them and wouldn't try to steal them. It also meant that if his Pokeballs were stolen, at least they wouldn't be inside of them and just get taken away from him like his others did.

Wright called his Pokemon to him, sitting down on a bench and getting out some Pokemon food for them to enjoy. Might aswell take a little break here.

Ethan and Spark rushed along a path, attempting to get to the next town as soon as possible. With spark being a Dragonair, many theifs sought to claim her rare beauty, no matter the cost. It was a hard enough task for Ethan to catch Spark herself, let alone defend her from all the bandits.

"so...close." Ethan said, in between pants. They arrived in the town a few minutes later, losing the criminals in the process. It was then that Ethan saw a young trainer sitting on a bench, and walked up to him.

"Do you know where the closest shop is? I just got here, and I am a bit lost."

"Hm?" Wright looked up, having been previously rummaging around in his bag. He quickly closed it, cautious that this other trainer might see his Pokeballs and try to take them. "Uh, yeah." He pointed off to the left. "You follow this road, then take a right by that building, and it should be just a little ways in front of you." The trainer looked back at Ethan, smiling a little.

Well, that is, until he was blocked from view by the wing of Breeze, his Fearow, who gave an accusatory squawk of 'Fearow! Row!' obviously thinking that Ethan and his Dragonair posed some sort of threat to Wright.

Dakota was walking down a path, Ninetales trotted alongside her red-haired trainer. Dakota was an trainer, she loved to battle and travel and that was her main goal. Her pokemon shared that goal also. She had three of her pokemon in pokeballs. But she didn't really care for the pokeballs, learning and mastering the older ways of having a pokemon team. She focused on fire and dark pokemon but she does have a few pokemon that aren't fire or dark.

The trainer huffed and felt her fire fox rub against her leg, mostly mentioning that they should take a break. "Fine.." she muttered. She took her three pokeballs out and tossed them in the air. A Umbreon, Absol, and Typhlosion coming out. She looked around, making sure no one was around before whistling, a sharp and echoing whistle. Two pokemon came out from the shadows, a Roserade and a Delcatty.

"Del!" The normal type pokemon sprinted to her trainer and tackled her. "Woah!" Dakota gasped as she fell to the ground with her friend. She laughed a bit and rolled around, slightly wrestling Delcatty. "Alright, alright, that's enough." The red-head murmured before pushing Delcatty off of her and sitting up. She noticed that all of her pokemon, except for Delcatty were sitting in a line. Waiting for their lunch. Smiling softly she grabbed the bowls from her bag and told Delcatty to get in her spot. The normal pokemon groaned in response but obeyed. She put everyone's bowls in front of them, then grabbed the pokemon food bag.

She went in order, from first to last. They all sat in the order she had caught them. She started with Typhlosion who was her starter, she filled her bowl. Then she went to Ninetales, who was a gift from her father, and filled her bowl. Then there was Umbreon, a once wild and insecure eevee who had blossomed when she evolved, her bowl was now filled. Absol was next, the Disaster pokemon, Dakota chuckled to herself, Absol was stand offish with strangers but he was so sweet with his trainer, who filled his bowl up too. Then there was Roserade, who was a difficult catch but Dakota got ahold of her and was happy too, she filled her bowl. Then there was affectionate Delcatty, who was persistent to join the red-head's team. Dakota smiled as she filled the normal type pokemon's bowl.

She then traveled a few feet away from her eating pokemon, pulling out an apple. Her green gaze drifted around her and her team, keeping a look out.

The Teengager coughed loudly.

He and his Glaceon, and his Sylveon where sneaking by when his Glaceon trotted over when he smelt food .

Umbreon heard footsteps and a cough and let a warning growl out. Which her trainer took notice in. Dakota's head raised up quickly and pulled out her only three pokeballs, returning her pokemon that went into the balls. She let out a low and deep whistle which her Delcatty and Roserade ran into the brush and hid. Ninetales pushed herself to her paws and trotted over to Dakota, who quickly cleaned up the bowls and put them in her bag, the fire-fox sat down next to the red-haired trainer. Dakota sighed and looked up at the sky. Is there a time we can get a break? She wondered silently.

He facepalmed mentally as he tried to pick up his Glaceon when he spotted the Ninetails.

Imedately afraid that She was a bandit.

He scrambled off before running into a tree, knocking himself out.

His Pokemon looked at him confused.

They started to try and make him wake up, but he was out cold.

Dakota also looked confused but just shrugged and began to wander off but her Ninetales grabbing onto her bag and tugged her back. "What?" The red-haired trainer snapped and turned around. She could tell that her fire pokemon wanted her to help the other guy. She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck before walking over to the trainer, her Ninetales pressed up against Dakota and made a smile-like towards them. Dakota put her hands up to the other pokemon to surrender. "I'm just gonna help him..." she muttered.

The Syveon was extremely shy and insecure, and was watching from a few feet away, and Glaceon was more of a more of a happy go lucky type. Glaceon thought that maybe Ninetails might want to be friends, so she walked over confidently.

Meanwhile Sylveon was still watching from his original hiding spot.
(Sylveon is male, Glaceon is female, just heads up!)

Ninetales noticed the Glaceon and smiled at her sweetly. The fox-like pokemon was friendly and open to any new friends. She kept a eye on her trainer her surprisingly lifted the ice eeveelution's trainer up and got him to sit up against a tree trunk.

"What an annoyance," she muttered lowly and looked back at Glaceon and Ninetales she turned back to the male and narrowed her eyes. She rustled in her bag and brought out a water bottle, she squirted him a bit with the water and tipped her head slightly to see if that could wake him.

Rye woke up to being drenched by luke warm water.

He imedately opened his eyes and saw Dakota.

"Please just take my stuff! Just don't hurt my Pokemon!" He shouted as he held up his hands in surrender, clearly confused on the situation at hand.

The Glaceon glanced at her trainers antics and snorted while rolling her eyes. Even Sylveon was trying hard to repress a snicker.

Dakota gave him a 'serious?' look before huffing and standing up. "Shut up I don't want anything to do with your stuff or your pokemon," she grumbled and stepped back. She looked at Ninetales who huffed and got up, trotting over to her red haired trainer.

The flustered trainer just got up and quickly dissapeared into the forest. Sylveon was the first to follow, but Glaceon didn't quite want to leave her new found friend, but sighed as she followed suite and dissapeared into the murky underbrush.

Ninetales was about to chase after her new friend but stopped in her tracks when she could feel her trainer's stern stare on her. She sadly moved back to the red-head and sighed. Dakota gave out a low whistle once the other trainer was out of sight, allowing Roserade and Delcatty to come out of the shadows. Which they did. They joined Ninetales and their trainer and the worried looks on their faces were erased.

The still startled made it to the nearest pokemon center, where he decided he would take a break from traveling around. The Sylveon and Glaceon chattered and squeaked about the NineTails, and Dakota.

Rye was contently snoozing on one of the Pokemoncenter couches.

Akiko had been traveling for sometime.. She was being chased by a gang pokemon thieves until she finally reached the the pokemon center, panting. A golden Drifblim floated behind her, seeming to act like it didn't have a care in the world. A Scolipede ran in, nearly smashing the ceiling of the pokemon center. She quickly returned the Scolipede and Drifblim into their pokeballs. She healed them at the counter, she let the Drifblim out again, letting it float around the Pokemon Center.

After giving that trainer from earlier directions to the shop, Wright made his way to the Pokemon Center for a while. Mainly due to Breeze having acted up in front of the Dragonair and being embarrassed. He sat down on one of the couches, having a stern word with his Fearow about it's behavior. Meanwhile, Luther, his Luxio, seemed bored of the conversation and wandered off, ending up walking up to a Glaceon and Sylveon, greeting them with a soft 'Lux'.

She remembered meeting the golden Drifblim, Cyan like it was yesterday..
She was a little girl, running around town, until a Golden Drifloon scooped her up with it's long arms began to carry her away, she was saved by the town's Gym Leader though. The Drifloon kept following her, so then she finally decided to keep it. She soon noticed Cyan trying to pick up a sleeping trainer on one of the couches.
"Cyan, leave the boy alone." The Drifblim stared at Akiko then floated back her way.

Rye was awoken by his sleep with a startled yelp, the Drifloon then dropped him.

The Glaceon greeted back rather quickly, "Gla, Glaceon", while Sylveon shyly replied with a "Sylve."

The Drifblim stared at the pokemon, slowly waving an arm..
Akiko noticed one of her pokeballs move rapidly.. Her Litwick was getting impatient..
"What ever you say Willow." Akiko's voice dripped with sarcasm as she let the Litwick out.
Sliding to where the Drifblim was floating.

The Litwick slid to Glaceon and Sylveon. "Litwick!" The Litwick greeted the two. While Akiko ran to the trainer, repeatedly apologizing for Cyan, the Drifblim's behavior.

Dakota made her way into the pokecenter. She noticed the other people and their pokemon and held back a small groan. The anti-social trainer walked towards the vending machine. Ninetales saw her new friend Glaceon and bounded towards the ice-type eeveelution quickly.

The Litwick, Willow jumped back in surprise at the approaching Nine-tails. "Litickkkk!!!" It hid behind the Golden Drifblim's long arms.

"Drifblim.." Cyan, the Drifblim lazily floated in the air. Extending a long arm, shaking the Nine-tails' paw. The Litwick emerged with caution. "Litwick.." It nervously greeted.

The Glaceon yipped happily as she greeted the Ninetails. Sylveon was hiding behind the couch, in his usual timid way.

Rye was still sleeping on the couch as the sun began to set.

As more and more Pokemon gathered around where he was, Luther grew anxious. He didn't do so well with large crowds. The Luxio decided to leave the scene, instead wandering over to Dakota at the vending machine. He waited for a moment, watching as she punched in the numbers for what she wanted. Then, as the snack dropped, he rushed in, grabbing it from the tray before she had a chance and retreating a little ways away.

Akiko decided she would go to the pokemon shop next door and get some potions.. Just in case they might have another battle, she called to her Drifblim and Litwick. "Hey guys.. I'm gonna go to get some healing items, you stay here, make some friends, don't get in trouble." Akiko warned as she strolled to the pokemon shop.

"Hey!" Dakota snapped and stared as the pokemon ran off. "You little.." And before she can finish her sentence she took off and went towards the Luxio. "Give that back!"

"Nine," Ninetales happily said but froze when she heard her annoyed trainer. She slowly looked over at the red-head but seeing her trainer run made her amused.

Luther kept running, enjoying spiting the trainer even if it meant for the moment he didn't get to enjoy the snack he had stolen. All things come to an end though, and eventually the Luxio found himself cornered. He dropped the treat that he'd been carrying in his mouth in favour of baring his teeth at Dakota and growling, electricity sparking off of his fur.

The Glaceon snorted loudly.

"Gla,Gla,Gla, Glaceon!" She squeaked loudly. (Excuse me? Who do you think you are to tell me not to do? Huh, huh?!)

The Litwick and Drifblim watched the argument, not sure of what to do..
Akiko had bought a few potions.. She began to stroll back to the pokemon center.

Dakota watched the two pokemon bicker and sighed, her patience level getting lower. She narrowed her eyes and glared at the two pokemon.

Ninetales huffed and got up and got between Glaceon and Luxio. "Nine!" (Enough!) She then looked at her trainer who quickly picked up her snack from Luxio.

Luther turned back to the trainer, growling, seeming as though he was about to attack before being scooped up in the arms of his own trainer, Wright. "I can't leave you for two minutes without you getting in trouble, can I?" "Lux, Luxio!" (It wasn't my fault!)

He turned his attention to the trainer and other Pokemon that had gotten mixed up with the incident. "Uh, sorry everyone. He's a bit of a troublemaker."

Dakota exchanged looks with Ninetales who shrugged at her red-haired trainer. With a turn on her heels, the trainer walked off and over to a couch. Ninetales trotted behind Dakota, waving her tails slightly to the side as she had her canine-like grin on her face.

"Well, nice noting you guys, I gotta fly." He said walking out the door, his two Eeveelutions close behind, as he set out for his home town.
