Writing Prompts: Writing Prompts: 9

by RenzFlintrock

RenzFlintrock Todays prompt is:

"Don't trust him."

"Funny, that's exactly what he said about you."
"What?!"

"It's a scam."

Abbi stared at him incredulously.

"Are you serious?"

"Yep. Those arrows aren't deep enough to be hurting them. All this is just an act."

Abbi wasn't entirely sure whether to believe him or not. It looked real to her. Benji seemed sure, though, and she decided to trust him.

"So... if they aren't really dead, what do we do?"

"I suggest we run. I don't care to face half a dozen not-really-dead bandits."

Abbi nodded. She wasn't sure if this was the right course to take, but she had thanked the 'ranger' already, so she didn't have to worry about that if they were really dead. Benji walked into the bushes, and Abbi was about to follow when the ranger turned around and saw them.

"Hey! Where are you going?"

"My friend tells me that there is more danger in these woods. We're going before it gets to us."

"Don't trust him. I know these woods well, and I assure you there is nothing left here of danger now that these vagabonds are dead."

"Don't trust him? Funny, that's exactly what he said about you."

And with that she turned and ran. She found Benji waiting for her on the path, and once she had caught up to him they began to sprint. Shouts rang out behind them. At least one voice called for them to halt, and an arrow whistled into a tree nearby. With legs pumping, the two travelers made for the edge of the woods.
