Writing Prompts: Writing Prompts: 10

by RenzFlintrock

RenzFlintrock Here we go again... today's prompt is:

"Bring them home. All of them."

"But-"

"All. Of. Them."
Reesa quickstepped back a pace when she found several poor people near the entrance of an abandoned guild house. While they looked like common rabble, she saw them for what they were. They were guards, watching the entrance. And meeting spots like this one were never guarded. Unless...

He was here. She knew it. Pardui Eppok himself must be inside the warehouse! Only twice before had she met the man, and both times she had been given a difficult job and an ample reward. And if her contact had directed her here, then she must have been summoned for just such a task.

She strode forward now, acting confident. Despite her cloak, she was sure that the guards would recognize her and let her through. She surely hoped so, because if they didn't... well, knowing the Eppok's reputation, even one of these doorguards could defeat her singlehandedly. And fortunately for her, they knew who she was and let her pass through without a word.

Inside the warehouse, it was dark. The only light came from a candle resting on a crate, located in the middle of the room. On the other side of it, there was a man dressed in expensive clothes. One glance told her that it was Eppok. The rest of the room was shadowed, and Reesa didn't doubt that several crossbows were trained on her. But even with this suspicion, she stepped forward. Eppok greeted her with a very slight nod.

"Reesa."

"Gree-"

"I have a job for you, Reesa."

"Yes, sir?"

"Several of my hirelings were unfortunate enough to witness some of my important buisness dealings. I need you to bring them back. All of them."

"But-"

"All. Of. Them. Dead or alive."

With that he gave a wave of his hand, and she knew she was dismissed. She had no choice but to leave.
