Demon Slayer Chronicles: The pillar in the dark

by ThAtGuY101

ThAtGuY101 In my previous two entries into the Demon Slayer Chronicles entries they were both from Ren's perspective. This entry will be from Kishi's perspective. The stone pillar/hashira that showed mercy to Ren.At this point, Kishi is hunting down a powerful demon on the run. As the demon is on the run it attempts to flee towards a nearby fishing village. Kishi continues to persue the demon ,and this is the results.
It was the afternoon. The sun was going down and as the sun was setting a man was running down the road. He wore a black demon slayer uniform ,and had a colorful haori. It was blue with red and orange circles. some of the circles overlapping one another. The man was about 6'3 ft and had a full head of grayish brown hair. His eyes were dull green ,and had eye bags underneath them. He had pale skin ,and a somewhat muscular build. He was about 38 years old ,and his name was Kishi.

He was hot on the trail of the demon that had headed south. he knew this was going to be a difficult fight. Even for a hashira. He stood atop a large hillside which overlooked a small fishing village in the far distance. Kishi's heart was racing. Innocent people were going to die unless he acted quick. He tried to reach the city. upon arrival he leaped from rooftop to rooftop ,and he could feel his heart pounding. There wasn't a single person out and about. Kishi felt relieved until he saw two people by the docks.

One of them must have been the demon which means the other must be his prey. The demon turned towards Kishi. Kishi could instantly tell the other person was bleeding profusely. Kishi wanted to help the boy ,but he needed to focus on the demon as his priority. He leaped from the rooftop. He took a deep breath and struck an offensive stance before lunging forward. Breath of stone 8th style!" Kishi yelled. With a flurry of motion he closed the gap. Ching! The sword went as it was stopped by the demon's claws.

The boy had now gotten up and was now attempting to flee. He was now heading behind one of the buildings in the distance. It didn't seem wise of him to up and try run off with potentially serious injuries. Kishi wanted to finish this fight quick ,but needed to be smart. This demon was not to be underestimated.

The demon grabbed Kishi's blade, running his hand down the blade causing the demon's hand to bleed. The demon's blood dripped down the sword and dripped onto his hand causing his hand to feel an overwhelming sensation in pain and his hand began to numb. He swung his sword, flicking the blood off ,but his hand still hurt. As the fight continued Kishi managed to land many blows ,but none of them were fatal. The fight went on for several minutes. Despite managing to severely wound the demon he was not able to kill it, as the demon managed to escape. The demon yelled in pain ,but he knew he would regenerate.

Kishi was hurt from the fight ,and would not be able to give into pursuit. He would need to warn the others. Hopefully one of them would be able to find the wounded demon before he could regenerate or find another victim. Kishi gave his bird a message with great urgency. He still remembered the boy ,and ran down the street in an attempt to find him. If he was dead he would need to find the body ,and if he was alive there was a chance he could turn into a demon.

Kishi's heart dropped at the thought, "Dammit old man! Your not the Hashira you used to be! Back in my prime I'd have perused that demon no problem! and that boy. Why couldn't I have been here just a little sooner! I should have killed that demon in that forest when I had the chance ,but all those demons came out ,and he managed to slip away. If I wasn't so physically exhausted I'd might have been able to get here faster" Kishi thought to himself as he tried to desperately to catch his breath.

Kishi was now looking at an old abandoned building. It had a dark lingering aura to it. Kishi didn't like the feeling ,but it was familiar. He knew right away that the boy in question must have been turning. The question on Kishi's mind was how far into the demon transformation the boy was in ,and if he was full on enraged or not.

His steps could be heard throughout the house as the floor was old and squeaked with each step he took. blood let up to the stairs ,and he saw the boy standing to the other side of the room. Kishi felt in his heart that the boy was gone, and just wanted to be done with this. He lunged to the boy in a swift attempt to end his suffering.

Kishi didn't expect him to talk nor jump through the window. As kishi looked at him and spoke to him he couldn't bring himself to kill the boy. He felt too sorry for him. Kishi felt like he had hit rock bottom ,and that he didn't even deserve to call himself a hashira. This was a new low.

Despite Kishi's momentary generosity he still considered outright killing Ren. Atleast this way he wouldn't have to hide in the shadows. Atleast this was he wouldn't be an outcast. Atleast this way he wouldn't be feared or ostracized. Not only that but to allow the demon to roam free, boy or not, it was still frowned upon by all the other demon slayers. Atleast to his knowledge.

Upon helping the boy up he noticed the boy had dropped a locket. Kishi picked it up ,and was planning on giving it back to him once he had gotten the boy far away from the village. Once they had found a safe secure cave, Kishi gave the locket back to the boy ,and explained his situation to him. Kishi didn't like the boy's silence. Kishi didn't know if the boy had accepted his situation or was in denial.

Kishi would continue to visit almost every day. It was his responsibility to ensure the boy was no threat to himself or anyone else. His visits slowly became scarce as his fellow demon slayers became curious as to his secrecy. Kishi was good at keeping secrets from the others. Eventually Kishi would stop coming as the others were becoming suspicious. Luckily for Kishi, the rumor was that Kishi was sneaking off with a secret lover. It was a good thing they never learned about Ren.

Kishi regretted cutting ties with Ren as he was a good kid ,and was now alone in his cave. Kishi did manage to inspire the boy to continue to practice his training ,but what good would that do if he had no reason to use it? Many years later Kishi would retire ,and live a humble life in a small farming village. He would continue to train just like he had told Ren to.

Kishi spent years as a former hashira training the youth how to fight. After years of teaching he would eventually have a student by the name of Dolan. The boy was clumsy and would irritate Kishi to high hell , but he managed to put up with the boy. Kishi would go on to tell stories about his time as a demon slayer ,and would even vaguely reference Ren in some of his stories ,but he would never tell anyone that Ren was a demon or that he lived in a cave.
