Chapter 4: PikaTwo
Moon ran quickly over to the two Pichu's. They had tears in their eyes. The stolen Pikachu must have been related to them in some way. Moon frowned. "Poor babies. Those evil men stole their friends!" She hugged them even tighter. "C'mere babies." The Pichu's squirmed free and started to waddle off up the hill towards Iki Town. "We should follow them. Somebody should go pick them up so they don't get hurt." Isaac suggested. The group tried to follow them, and they turned around, arms outstretched and waddled towards the group. Moon was about to pick them up, but they continued past them, finding their way to Flame and Hau. They picked them up. Sun smiled. "They seem happy with you guys. You should look after them." Moon looked upset. "I guess." Flame looked down to the baby Pichu in his hands, and it smiled at him, waggling it's small arms about. The group headed up to Iki town. Hala was there, greeting his grandson Hau warmly. "I assume you're here for the ritual battle for Tapu Koko tonight." Hau had other concerns however. He saw Moon running north to Mahalo Trail. "No! You need to postpone the battle! Some bad people stole some Pokemon, and Moon went to the trail to stop them!" Rose looked around and quickly answered. "Well, I'm not just going to wait here for you guys." She ran off after Moon. Hala sighed. "I guess you need to go hm. Well, be back in time." Hau pumped his arms into the air in happiness, and ran north to Mahalo Trail with the rest of the group.
On the way up the hill, they ran past the multiple totem statues, until they reached the steep canyon, where Rose stood. Sun was the first there, showing a little more effort than usual. "What happened?" Sun asked. Rose was still in shock. "I saw Moon follow them across the bridge, and she ran so fast the bridge broke when she reached the other side! Then she entered that cave." Sun seemed distraught. Moon came running back out of the cave past two totem statues, tears streaming down her face. Sun yelled, echoing across the canyon. "Are you alright? What happened?" She continued crying and sat down, holding her knees. "They took Popplio!" She sobbed. Nobody knew how they would get across, when Lillie arrived. She seemed surprised to see everyone here. "Lillie? Why are you here?" Hau asked. Lillie fumbled to come up with an excuse. "Uh... I felt like I had to come here." And, as another portal ripped itself open in the sky, this time directly above the trainers school, Lillie's bag resonated with a special glow... and all of a sudden everyone was with Moon on the other side of the Canyon. Hau started to freak out. "What just happened?" Sun had a determined look on his face. "Doesn't matter. We're getting Popplio back." He ran into the ruins, the others following, Hau helping Moon along at the back. There were some boulders, with ornate patterns on, but they seemed to have been moved as to make the end of the chamber accessible. At the end of the chamber, they entered a special room.
In the room was a stone plinth, with two stairs around either side. Atop the plinth was a totem statue alike to the earlier on in the trail, adorned with offerings and a yellow display behind it. The two grunts in their Skull tanks were in front of it, spraying the statue with the Team Skull tag. Sun walked in, interrupting them. "What? Is this some kind of trainer getting all up in our crib? This is Team Skull turf now! Am I right homie?" The other Grunt joined in. "Yeah B! Get em', Drowzee and Zubat!" Their two Pokemon headed off the plinth towards the group. The trainers sent out their Pokemon, Isaac with Shinx, Flame with Froakie, Rose with Buneary, Sun with Rowlet and Hau with Litten. However, the Zubat darted around them, throwing an Air Cutter at Rowlet, blowing it into the wall. Drowzee confused Litten with Confusion, and started to put Froakie, Shinx and Buneary to sleep with Hypnosis. As the Pokemon started to sway around in time with Drowzee, unable to act, there was a sudden burst of lightning, hitting Zubat out of the sky. The Pichu on Flames shoulder had fired a Thundershock, and knocked it out, jumping down in front of the other Pokemon. Drowzee stopped hypnotising them, and started to focus it's powers on Pichu, who started to fall under the hypnosis. "C'mon Pichu, you got this! I'm proud of you!" Pichu looked up, becoming engulfed in a white glow, as Drowzee stared into it shocked. Out of the glow burst Pikachu, calling a Thundershock that knocked out Drowzee. The grunts laughed. "You may have won, but we still don't have to give you anything. These Pokemon, and these ruins are ours." Suddenly, behind them came a large figure, black with an orange spiky feather from it's head. The Grunts turned around and saw it, freaking out and running away as it shouted. "Tapu Ko-Ko-Ko!" The Grunts fled as fast as they could, and the Pokemon glided down to the children, handing each of them a Sparkling stone. And with that, it was gone, and only the statue was left.
The group had found it rather strange that the bridge had returned, but Moon seemed to be just happy that she had Popplio back. They were back at Iki Town, and it was time to see the Pikachu off. The Pikachu left, but Hau's Pichu and Flame's Pikachu stayed, and went into pokeballs. It was getting dark, and Sun and Hau were standing atop the ornate wooden ring. They sent out their Pokemon, Sun now also having a Rockruff and Hau having a Pichu, but Sun won once again. Hala proclaimed that it would be a great offering to Tapu Koko. He had taken the sparkling stones to study them, and given the 6 Z-Rings in return. They set off to the Pokemon Center at Hau'Oli City, to settle in under the cover of darkness.
NEXT TIME: The group add many new members to their teams!
Onwards to the first Trial!
