Chapter 15: The Aether Conspiracy
As the group reacted to this news, that Gladion kid appeared again. "Lillie will be on Aether Paradise." Hau was puzzled. "What? Why would Team Skull take her there?" Gladion grimaced. "She just will be. Now are you all gonna come or not?" The entire group decided that Lillie had been with them the entire journey, and they wouldn't end it without her. Gladion took them to the Malie City port, where a man wearing a black jacket with the police force symbol showed up. Gladion gasped. "Officer Nanu?"
The man growled. "That's Kahuna Nanu to you boy. I heard you're dragging these trialgoers off somewhere and I need to battle them as a Grand Trial before you do." The entire group battles Nanu and his dark type Pokemon, getting Darkium-Z in the process. Rose's Stunky evolved to finish off Nanu's Alolan Persian. They headed to Aether Paradise, and they had to fight their way through several Aether Foundation Employees to reach the main floor. There they found Branch Chief Faba. He seemed angry at Gladion. "So young master Gladion finally deemed to return. You should have never come back here!" His Hypno started to swing it's pendulum, and everybody started to feel drowsy. However, there was a bright white light and a huge, orange dragon like Pokemon. "Charcharzar!" It roared, using a Flamethrower attack to finish off Hypno. Faba was terrified of Flame's newly evolved Charizard, and they headed to the lower floors, as Faba agreed to give access to them.
They discovered in some of the lab files that Type : Null was some sort of Beast Killer experiment, and that Cosmog may be an Ultra Beast. It said when put under immense stress it can create Ultra Wormholes. Gladion realised that Faba had tricked them, and they decided to head back up. On their way back, they could see test cells with Pokemon inside. However, the doors opened and a load of Aether Foundation Employees blocked them off! Isaac quickly hit the release button, and a Golisopod, a Torracat, a Minun, a Mimikyu, a Lurantis and a Komala. They helped fight off the enemies, and joined the team, Golisopod to Isaac, Torracat to Flame, Minun to Rose, Mimikyu to Sun, Lurantis to Moon and Komala to Hau. As they continued along through the labs, they saw a locked room with footage playing on loop of the mysterious stranger from Melemele battling a large, muscular, red insect Pokemon, and the battle with the Wire beast on Route 3. When they entered up again, Faba had 3 more employees to back him up. "Hyeh! You foolish, naughty children! You fell for my perfect plan!" The employees sent out their Pokemon. "I choose you Pelipper!" "Get'Em Mudsdale!" "Go Ledian!" Sun, Moon and Hau sent out their pokemon. When the enemies were defeated, all 3 pokemon evolved! Now they were Decidueye, Incineroar and Primarina. They continued on to an open courtyard, only to see Guzma and Team Skull guarding the entrance!
Gladion ran forward, skipping past the line of Grunts to battle Guzma.
Why where they protecting Lusamine? Where they working together this whole time? Flame sent out Frogadier and Ama sent out Quilava. They fought their way through the 4 Team Skull Grunts, and when they were defeated both Pokemon started to evolve. Greninja and Typhlosion burst from the piercing white light, and continued up towards Guzma, who seemed to have defeated Gladion. He cackled, but Typhlosion used Fire Blast and Greninja used Water Shuriken, sending his Golisopod flying. They entered Lusamine's room to see Lillie arguing with her. "I don't need your approval, or your permission mother! I will save Cosmog!" Lusamine laughed evilly, opening a hidden door where a wardrobe should be and stepping into a teleporter. "I'm going to make Cosmog use all of it's power, whether it wants to or not. I don't care if it dies in the process." She teleported away, a wicked grin on her face. Mother? Hau did mention they looked similar, and Lillie made an excuse not to come to Aether Paradise last time... They headed into the room to comfort Lillie, but all she said was "We need to save Nebby!" They decided to follow Lusamine, and entered the teleporter. As they arrived in the secret room, all around them were Pokemon, frozen in ice. "Do you enjoy my collection? All my babies, they're all safe now. Frozen. Perfect forever and ever." Gladion appeared from the teleporter too. "You're insane." That was when she snapped, gritting her teeth. "The daughter who stole my Cosmog, and the son who took my Type : Null! You wretches mean nothing to me now." She held up a glowing box, a cage designed to hold Nebby. "Come to me, my sweet beast!" Another ultra wormhole opened as the cage shone brightly, Cosmog's full power activating. Out of the portal came the jellyfish like Ultra Beast they fought last time they were here. Suddenly, just as Guzma arrived, it started to disappear. Gladion took action. "Hau, hold off Guzma! My partner Null was born to be a beast killer. You guys go after the president!"
Lusamine sent out Bewear, Clefable, Milotic, Lilligant and Mismagius. Greninja and Decidueye fought Mismagius, Typhlosion and Incineroar attacking Lilligant. Milotic was battling Luxray , Clefable was fighting Primarina and Braixen was fighting Bewear. The battle lasted a while, and Gladion made the final move. "Null! Use Iron Head!" UB-01 seemed to take a lot of damage, and started to fade away along with the portal. Lusamine screamed. "No! We have to catch it with the Beast Ball we developed! Guzma, with me!" They both ran into the portal, fading away with the Ultra Beast as she waved sadistically. And that was it. Silence. They were gone. The cage popped open to reveal a completely different Pokemon. It was like a Lunatone, or a Solrock, golden curved claw-like rock patterns holding a misty ball in the middle. The ball had a face reminiscent of Cosmog's, but with closed eye's and mouth. Lillie sobbed. They found their way back to the surface. The new Cosmoem didn't move, or show any signs of life. Gladion sighed, breaking the silence. "It's pointless. Only the legendary Pokemon could take you to Ultra Space." Hau had a defiant expression. "I'm sure we can do it! Ultra beasts are real, I'm sure the legendary Pokemon is real too!" Gladion handed them a blue flute. "If you really have to do that, then take this. I found it in my mother's collection. It's the Moon Flute. It is said that when paired with the Sun Flute, and played at the Altar of the Moon, you can summon the legendary pokemon. That's on Poni Island, the final island. I can take you there." They got aboard a boat and headed onwards to Poni Island.
